Heglina capped the full can and then put her hand into one of the handles and Verona took the other one and they lifted the full milk can and took it to the storage area. There were pallets with empty milk cans and one pallet that had one full can and Heglina and Verona put the full can on the pallet with the other full can, but at the back of the pallet.
Verona then said, “You seem confused, we put the new cans at the back of the pallet, so when we have someone take milk up to the cooler, it is always the oldest milk. Once that can is taken up to the cave, we move the next can down to the end so we can take it back with us. We can usually get about 2 cans a day from the cows now. One can in the morning, and one in the afternoon.”

I left then, changed back into my clothes, and drove out to the cave to look at the hay we had baled in there. I could see it seemed as fresh as when we put it away. I noticed the fans and heat lamps in the ceiling. So this room was climate controlled to give a perfect environment for the hay to stay as fresh as possible. I also noticed what looked like sprinklers in the ceiling too. I guess they were in case of fires. I left the cave and headed for the animal caves to see where they were and if the animals had found them yet. I drove around and found the horses at the back of the canyon and there off to the right was a fairly large cave that appeared to be able to hold all the horses plus about a quarter more of them. Down one of the draws I saw a herd of the aurochs. None of these had ear tags on them but there was a cave off to the left before you fully entered the draw. I could see some of the deer off to the left as I came back out of the back of the canyon and then I saw the cave off behind them. So far all our livestock seemed to be well fed and safe. As I came out from the back of the canyon, I saw the aurochs with the ear tags in a makeshift corral made from trees, logs, bales of hay, and sticks from huts stuck into the ground. It certainly didn’t look solid, but I guess the aurochs stayed into the makeshift corral because they wanted to be milked. This corral was about 15 acres of area and there was an open area where the cows could actually just walk away, but they didn’t. I just couldn’t figure it out. Maybe it was the food, but then it might have to do with the milking, whatever.
