Tyler got home around four. Byron was now dressed and sitting in his recliner, reading a book.
“Hey, Dad.”
Byron looked up and smiled as Tyler kicked off his shoes into the closet. His book bag soon followed.
“No homework?”
Tyler looked over to his dad, “Yea, but I’ll do it later.”
“You probably should do it now. Your mom’s stopping by later.”
Tyler froze for a moment. That was never good, “Why?”
“We just want to talk to you about some stuff.”
Tyler slowly leaned over to pick up the book bag, “About what stuff?”
“Just stuff.”
His son clearly wanted more of an answer but eventually he made his way to his bedroom. Normally, Byron would make them both supper but tonight he decided to just order pizza. Tyler wolfed down a couple slices, “The guys are waiting on me.” The guys being his online ‘crew’.
Byron was on his computer in the den when he heard the garage door once again. He thought about going out to meet Laci but then figured he’d just let her find him. It wasn’t that big of a house.
She seemed nervous, “Did you talk to him?”
Byron looked up from the computer, “No. I waited for you.”
Laci looked disappointed. She was never one for confrontation. She was still holding out hope that her ex would have handled it. “Ok, then.” She took a deep breath. “Let’s go do this.”
Byron stood up, “He’s up in his bedroom.”
They found Tyler at his computer, playing some shooter game. His mom made her way over to the edge of his bed and sat down.
Byron walked over and put his hand on his son’s shoulder, “Time for our chat.”
“Just one more minute. We’re almost there.”
Byron watched as his took out a few of the other players before someone finally managed to get him.
