June 1984, Milford, Ohio

On Monday morning, Bethany, Josie, Jennifer, Stephanie, Zach and I all went to breakfast. We talked about the wedding and Stephanie filled me in on my mom’s reaction.

“At church, she and Dad sat way in the back. You know his opinion of church, so no surprise there. At the reception, I think you saw her leave the room when Jennifer and Josie danced, and she wouldn’t come back. It was so stupid because later on, all the bridesmaids danced together, along with a bunch of the younger girls who weren’t allowed to bring dates. But you know Mom!”

I sighed, “Sadly.”

“She wasn’t the only one,” Josie said. “I saw quite a few looks of disapproval when we danced and afterwards. And when I kissed Jen, one old biddy gave me the most evil stare.”

“Ignore them,” I said. “Intolerant people just suck. Let them be uncomfortable. Maybe they’ll get a clue!”

“How long is it going to take?” Josie sighed.

“A long time,” Bethany said. “I’ll bet if it does happen, it’ll be when all of our kids are grown, if not longer.”

“What? Thirty years? Ugh!”

“That’s if you’re lucky, Josie,” Bethany commiserated. “But you won’t find any of that in Steve’s house. All you’ll find there is love and acceptance. He wouldn’t have it any other way.”

“Jamal and Jeremiah might have some concerns,” I said thoughtfully. “But I’ll talk to them before you guys move to Chicago. If they can’t accept the two of you, then they can’t be part of our group. It really is that simple.”

“Even after saying that Jenny had gone to the ‘Dark Side’ and was ‘playing for the other team’?” Josie asked.

“Yes. Remember the context, Josie,” I said.

“Josie, Steve’s not judging your lifestyle or your sexuality,” Bethany said. “He’s working through the fact that a girl he loved basically rejected his marriage proposal to marry somebody else. It wouldn’t matter if you were a guy or a Martian. In other words, you being a girl has nothing to do with it. Your being the successful suitor does.”

“Zach, what’s your opinion?” Stephanie asked mischievously.

“Man, I don’t even have an opinion!” Zach said. “I didn’t even realize until just now! I was too busy paying attention to you last night!”

“As you should have!” Stephanie said primly.

Everyone laughed.

“Still the Princess, Lord High Ruler of the Universe, I see,” I said, chuckling.

“Yes!” Stephanie grinned, winking at me.

When we finished eating, I took Stephanie aside to say goodbye. With Zach there, we couldn’t kiss as we wanted to, but we hugged tightly and we both said that we were looking forward to her visit in July. I asked her about Zach and she arched her eyebrow and shrugged.

“Going to give him a chance to have the best pussy on the planet, Squirt?” I whispered.

“If so, only after we’re together, big brother. It’d just be a fun fling, nothing serious.”

“You’ll spoil him for any other girl, Squirt.”

“I tried that with you and it didn’t work,” she giggled.

“If you weren’t my sister it would have. For sure.”

“I love you, big brother.”

“I love you, Squirt.”

We hugged again and then she and Zach got into her car so she could take him home. Bethany and I dropped Jennifer and Josie at the Spencers’ and then went to her house so I could pack my things. Bethany and I kissed fiercely, and she walked me out to my car. I told her I was looking forward to seeing her in August. I reminded her that Sofia and Kara would both be there when she arrived, and my other housemates would trickle in during the week. We kissed again and I drove back to the Spencers’ to pick up Jennifer and Josie for the drive to Chicago.

June 1984, Chicago, Illinois

The drives between Milford and Chicago had become routine, though I wouldn’t be making them nearly so often in the future. I took the opportunity of over five hours on the road to raise the issue of our relationship and how it would work. We discussed and debated everything, including our ideas for raising a kid. We discussed some practical matters and finally, talked about the commitment ceremony.

“We want to exchange rings,” Josie said. “But I’m not sure how that would work. You’re going to need to wear your own wedding ring, too.”

“What if I wore a matched ring on my right hand?” I said. “The same design as yours, but in a guy’s size.”

“That would be cool. And we’ll do this next summer in Chicago?” Josie asked.

“Sure. When were you thinking of getting pregnant, Jen?”

“In maybe four or five years,” Jennifer said thoughtfully. “That lets me graduate and work for a few years. The one thing we haven’t talked about is how we handle caring for the kid and working.”

“With three professional incomes, we can afford a nanny,” I said. “Or we could get an Au Pair. I can’t imagine any of us not working for seven or eight years. And if things work out the way I want them to with my business, I’ll mostly work from home for a few years. The house has plenty of room for that. We can turn the study room into the company office at some point.”

“What’s Elyse going to do?” Jennifer asked.

“I haven’t asked, but my guess is the same thing. Whoever my wife is won’t have to work unless she wants to. I’ll leave that up to her. Obviously, if it’s one of the usual suspects, we’re talking about a medical doctor, clinical psychologist, teacher, diplomat, or budding programmer. None of those sound like stay-at-home moms to me!”

“And if we all shared one nanny, it’ll be pretty inexpensive,” Jennifer said, then added mischievously, “If she’s young and cute, we might end up with more kids than we bargained for with the stud here hanging around!”

We all laughed. It seemed as if we had a plan, and now it was only a matter of waiting until the girls moved to Chicago. Things were coming together, and so far, it looked like Fate had taken a vacation. I hoped the fickle bitch enjoyed it and decided to stay away forever. But I sure wasn’t going to count on it.

At home, the first thing I did after getting the mail was to check to see if there were any messages, but the light on the machine was sold, not blinking. Next, I started some laundry and then walked down to the shop where I’d rented my tuxedos in the past to reserve one for my trip to DC. I walked back home and went through the mail. There were a couple of bills, so I wrote out checks and put them in envelopes for Anala to mail. There was also the 45RPM single from Sofia. I decided to play it.

The song was the type of banal pop that I didn’t particularly like, but the tune was catchy, nonetheless. I could see how the song could win the Eurovision contest, but I was sure that even the English-language version would get no airplay on American radio stations. When I finished listening to the song, I went up to my room and began packing my bags for my trip. Jennifer and Josie had offered to cook, and I took them up on their offer. Penny arrived with Alice in tow about 5:00pm and once Alice saw that Jennifer and Josie were there, she went back home. Penny barely waited for the door to close before giving me a fierce hug.

“I missed you!” she said.

“I missed you, too, Penny. Dinner’s in about an hour. What do you want to do until then?” I asked with a knowing smile.

She flashed me a wicked smile, grabbed my hand, and dragged me up to my room. She shut and locked the door and attacked. For the next forty-five minutes she alternated between riding me and sixty-nining, ending up with me cumming twice in her tight pussy. After a quick shower, we went downstairs for dinner just as the girls were getting it on the table.

“What time do you have to be home, Penny?” Jennifer asked.

“9:00pm. It’s a school night and mom won’t let me stay out one second later. She’s mean!”

“Yes, your mom is so mean that she lets you come over here and have Steve give you five screaming orgasms!” Jennifer teased.

“At least!” Josie snickered. “We don’t know about the quieter ones!”

“Uhm, I guess I was loud,” Penny said blushing.

“Yes,” Jennifer said. “But that’s OK. Your mom isn’t mean. She’s just watching out for you. Would you like to talk some more after dinner?”

“I do, but I can’t miss saying goodbye properly to Steve!” she giggled.

When we finished dinner, Josie and I offered to clean up so that Jennifer and Penny could talk. Josie and I talked while we worked together in the kitchen.

“Jenny told me about how your first real girlfriend died. I can’t even begin to think of what it would be like now, at twenty-one, let alone at fifteen.”

“Yeah,” I sighed. “It sucked. But Jennifer was there for me. She’s always been there for me when it counted.”

“Even when she moved away? And decided to go to Stanford?”

“It was her dad that moved the family, not Jennifer. She did her best to help me through it. The Stanford thing, well, in hindsight, I’d say it was a good thing, even though I didn’t think so at the time. If Jen had come here, we might have tried to make it work. Can you imagine what would have happened if she’d figured out her sexuality after we’d been married for a few years? Talk about a nightmare!”

“You’re pretty philosophical Steve. And in a healthy way. I hadn’t really figured out that you saw me as a rival, but I suppose that is what I am. But if I understand correctly, Pete was a rival, too.”

“Melanie and I were dating seriously - that is, fucking each other silly - when she met him. So in that way, yes. And I’ve never, ever stood in their way.”

“Jenny says you pushed Melanie to fix things with Pete when they went wrong. Why not keep her for yourself?”

“For the same reason I’m not fighting you. Pete and Melanie belong together. So do you and Jen.”

“Wow. You really believe that?”

“When I saw you two dance it kind of sealed the idea in my mind, yes.”

“When we danced? Not when you watched us make love?”

“I’ve seen girls who are basically straight do that. Can I ask a question?”

“Sure.”

“Jen says she can’t be with me without you there. Are you the same way?”

“Yes, but not for the same reason. For me, it’s because I promised Jenny that except for the very first time when you and I got to know each other, I’d never have sex when she wasn’t there. For her, it’s because heterosexual sex scares the hell out of her. Did you know that she won’t let me use a dildo or even vibrator on her, if it goes inside?”

That made me think back to the first penetration that night in Chicago. Maybe that’s what I’d detected. It would make sense. It was odd, but then again, everything about the way things were going with Jennifer was a bit odd.

“No! Wow! I mean, she told me that the idea of any dick other than mine in her made her physically ill, but I didn’t realize it went that far.”

“It’s strange. She has crazy, over-the-top, mind-blowing orgasms with you. With me, they’re smaller, sweeter, as she calls them. I think I could give her bigger ones, but she doesn’t want them. She wants tender and soft.”

“So do I,” I said.

“What?” Josie asked.

“Didn’t Jen tell you? I prefer slow, passionate missionary-style lovemaking to everything else. Sure, threesomes are fun, and playing around is fun, too. But in the end, nothing tops one-on-one lovemaking.”

“You are a strange dude. I know I said it before, and I sure don’t mean it pejoratively. But most guys would kill for the wild threesomes we’ve had. If you want, I’ll let you and Jenny love like that. She’ll want me in the room, maybe even in the bed, but maybe you two need that. I’ll ask her, OK?”

“More than OK!” I grinned.

When we finished the dishes we went to the great room. It turned out that Josie played chess so we sat down at the board and played a couple of quick games before Jennifer and Penny came to find us about 7:30pm. Penny came and sat in my lap while I finished the game with Josie, and then I led her up to my room.

“Penny, I want to make love to you. This will be the last time for over a month, and so I want to make it perfect. OK?”

“Oh, yes! That’s my favorite, too!”

We made love as I’d suggested, with Penny having a dozen orgasms before I pressed deeply into her and came hard, her spasming pussy milking me for every drop I had to give her. We kissed softly for a time, then I led her to the shower and we washed each other, then dried off and went to sit on the loveseat in my bedroom.

“Did you have a good talk with Jennifer?” I asked.

“Yes. We talked about you, mostly. She really loves you. But she can’t marry you. I was pretty confused, but she explained it and I asked questions and I think I understand. I just don’t get why she likes girls and not boys.”

“Why do you like boys, Penny?”

“Because girls are supposed to like boys!” she giggled.

“Well, yes. But you can’t tell me why you feel that way, can you? You just know that you do.”

“Yes.”

“That’s how Jennifer and Josie feel. They just know. And there’s nothing wrong with that. Would you be upset if you saw them kiss?”

“No, I guess not. But I wouldn’t want to do that.”

“And Jennifer doesn’t want to kiss boys, well, except for me, and that’s because I’m very special to her.”

“But Josie likes both boys and girls. Jennifer said so.”

“Yes. And that’s fine, too. Don’t let the nuns try to tell you any different.”

Penny giggled, “What do they know? How can someone who promises never, ever to have sex teach about sex? That would be like trying to teach math without ever having done a math problem!”

I laughed at her analogy, but it was indeed apt.

“I wouldn’t say that to them,” I grinned.

“No way! I’d get in trouble for sure. Besides, I don’t talk about sex with anyone but your two friends Jackie and Jennifer. If my mom found out I was doing this, she’d kill me!”

“And me, too!” I added soberly.

“Do you really like doing it with me?”

“Yes, Penny. I do. And do you like doing it with me?”

“Oh yes! When you come back I’m going to attack you!” she giggled.

“I look forward to it. Let’s go find the girls. We can hang out for a bit and then you can go home.”

A WellLived Life 2 Book 5 MichelleChapter 78 Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous Part II

May 15, 1992, Glencoe, Illinois “Join me in my study, if you would,” Noel Spurgeon said when we finished our dessert. It had been an interesting evening. Samantha and I had talked for a bit before we’d been summoned to dinner. The meal had been prepared by a chef and was served by a white-coated young man. Again, this was a far cry from Lois at the van Hoeks’ house. What wasn’t a far cry was the fact that I was having dinner with a man who knew I was going to be sleeping with his daughter...

Then she kissed him and covered him with a blanket. The dream ended and he drifted deeper into slumber. He was awoken by a knock on his cabin door. Jake sat up looking around. It took a few...

Loosening Up Book 6 SituationsChapter 19 Premiere

Don pointed out the lone paparazzi sitting in a parked car near the end of Scarlett’s driveway. They drove on past and then came back a few minutes later to the call box. This time, apparently, only Don was driving. He entered the gate code and went into the private driveway as the gate swung open. He waited to be sure the gate closed uneventfully behind him before proceeding. Dave and Cricket snuck into the house as Don carried their duffle bags and a hanging clothes carrier. Scarlett leapt...

June 23, 1994, Oguni, Yamagata Prefecture, Japan My first week in Japan flew by, and a routine developed. After lunch, I’d work in the garden, or, as I had this day, wash the floors in the house. Hiroshi would accompany me back to the cottage and we’d talk while I washed up and dressed for dinner. April 29, 2000, Chicago, Illinois “I read the paper this morning, Jamie,” Pete said at breakfast on Saturday morning. “How the hell did THAT happen?” “Just like the paper said - financial mismanagement by the managing partners.” “How does that work?” Terry asked. “I thought you were a partner.” “Consider it like shareholders and a board of directors. It’s not quite like that, but the partnership turns day-to-day management of the firm over to the managing partner, or partners. That was...

The Count of Monte CristoChapter 112 The Departure

The recent event formed the theme of conversation throughout all Paris. Emmanuel and his wife conversed with natural astonishment in their little apartment in the Rue Meslay upon the three successive, sudden, and most unexpected catastrophes of Morcerf, Danglars, and Villefort. Maximilian, who was paying them a visit, listened to their conversation, or rather was present at it, plunged in his accustomed state of apathy. "Indeed," said Julie, "might we not almost fancy, Emmanuel, that those...

June 1977 When I got home, I grabbed a Coke and some chips and went right to my room. I didn’t think I could deal with my parents or Jeff or Stephanie. I just needed to be by myself. June 1977 Friday ended up being a non-event. The more I thought about it, the more I was sure that there was no way on this earth I could say what happened between Birgit and me was a sin. A WellLived Life 2 Book 10 BridgetChapter 79 The Last Risk Of Freeze

May 14, 1997, Chicago, Illinois “Start talking!” Melanie demanded when I sat down in her office about an hour later. “There isn’t much to say. Katya found the information for me when I asked her to look into several things about Brandon Littleton, Kevin Lomax, and John Milton.” “Do you know more about him?” “A LOT more. I don’t think you want to know.” “Probably not, but I’m your criminal defense attorney, and even though San Antonio doesn’t have you involved in this, you know the CPD...

The Three Signs Book 2 LoriChapter 28 Live at the Lifesaver

“So, how should we do these Stone’s songs?” Phil asked at our rehearsal session. “I think we all know the music, we just need to come up with a pretty awesome arrangement; we don’t want to sound like yet another cheap cover band.” “I had some ideas, if it’s okay for me to make some suggestions,” Allison said. “Of course it is,” Phil said. “Everyone can have a say, there’s no rule that says you can’t participate in the discussion.” “Thanks, Phil, I guess being the newest here, I’m a bit...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 5 MichelleChapter 77 Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous Part I

May 11, 1992, Chicago, Illinois Monday was turning out to be a LONG day. After my run and talk with Gina, and my talk with Elyse, I had a full day at the office scheduled. First was our leadership meeting in the morning, and then I had status meetings with each team. At lunch I’d gone to see Siobhán and explained that I was going to break off the sexual relationship, but that I wanted to remain friends. She was disappointed, but admitted that Thursday would have been the last time, since she...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 3 JessicaChapter 23 So Now You Turn Back Into Diana Prince

January 19, 1989, En-Route from LAX to ORD When the engines of the plane started, Jeri reached over and took my hand. She held it while we pushed away from the gate, and taxied for takeoff. Her grip tightened a bit as we hurtled down the runway, but nothing like the death grip she’d had on my arm for the flight out. The plane roared its way into the air and once we leveled out, Jeri’s grip loosened but she didn’t let go of my hand. “How are you doing?” I asked with a touch of...

A WellLived Life Book 7 Kara IIChapter 34 Old Routines and New Ideas

September 1982, Chicago, Illinois The weekend was quiet and besides homework, I worked on the program changes for Frank, called Karin, Tatyana, and Kara, and hung out with my usual study group. Monday was refreshingly normal. On Tuesday morning, I handed Katy my completed intake form. She put it in an envelope and stuck it in her bag. She said she’d let me know soon about the interview. On Tuesday afternoon, after having lunch with Stephie, I made my rounds and then I headed over to Sigma...

A WellLived Life Book 7 Kara IIChapter 35 An Interview and Some New Friends

October 1982, Chicago, Illinois The drive back to Chicago was as uneventful as usual, and I arrived at the apartment just before 6:00pm. When I arrived, Elyse and Stephie were sitting on the couch and Jackie was sitting on the loveseat. Stephie hopped up as I opened the door and greeted me with a hug and a kiss. “Hi, Peaches!” I said. “Glad you’re home, Yankee!” “Hi, Steve,” Elyse and Jackie both said. “Hey,” I replied. “How was the weekend?” “Well, it was just Kurt with me, Stephie,...

A WellLived Life Book 2 JenniferChapter 49 Preparations

May 1979 On Monday afternoon, Kent and Jennie picked me up to get my tux fitted for the wedding. I was very happy to see that they had selected traditional tuxedos rather than some of the gaudy colored ones. All the groomsmen would wear black with light purple cummerbunds and ties and Kent would wear black with light blue. Jennie wanted me to wear black and yellow. I thought the offsets were interesting. Jennie explained that she was wearing light blue and her maids of honor were wearing...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 3 JessicaChapter 52 Lifestyle Choices

June 11, 1989, Chicago, Illinois It was just after 3:00am when I kissed Trish goodbye. She’d been an enthusiastic, energetic, and adventurous lover. We’d done just about anything either of us could think of, though her breasts weren’t large enough for a tit-fuck. The last time had been in the shower where we’d ostensibly gone to clean up afterwards, but instead I ended up taking her from behind as she leaned against the wall of the shower. “I think I’ll have you again, Steve Adams,” she...

A WellLived Life Book 1 BirgitChapter 38 Freshman Year Ends

May 1978 The first couple of weeks in May were busy with school, work, and friends. Except for Becky, I didn’t even have any dates. But I was OK with that. Well, almost OK. I wanted to see Anna, but it likely wasn’t going to happen until school was out. I had tutoring sessions with Melanie, but she still wouldn’t talk to me about anything other than Spanish. Barely a hello. I was grateful for the tutoring, but it was maddening seeing my friend this way. I hoped someday she could understand...

Adventures of a Greenie Vol 1Chapter 17 Departure

Green Hell didn’t have a spaceport, just a shuttle pad on top of Merchants Tower, the highest building of Ant Hill. A daily shuttle service-connected to Harper’s Junction. He felt a little forlorn as he stood there on that platform from where he had a breathtaking view over the shimmering lake and the jungles lining its shores in the distance. Partner nudged him in the side, and a feeling of warmth spread in his mind. At least he was not alone; he had Partner. According to the woman behind...

A WellLived Life Book 6 Kara IChapter 44 Spring Break 1982 Part I

March, 1982, Milford, Ohio As I drove along I-65, I thought about what Stephanie had asked for and what Bethany had said without even knowing about the request. Of course, because Bethany and I were so in tune, she might have actually had an idea that I was struggling with getting involved with my sister again. I kept turning it over and over in my mind and I kept coming to the same conclusion — that I shouldn’t do it. I was torn between doing what Stephanie wanted and doing what Kara and...

September 7, 1992, Chicago, Illinois “That went reasonably well,” Michelle said when her parents drove off. “There were a few times I thought my expression would give away something I shouldn’t. You were messing with me, weren’t you?” She grabbed both my hands and smiled, “I was telling the truth, in my own way. Thank you!” She leaned forward and kissed my cheek. “So, what’s left?” I asked. “To visit UofC tomorrow and formally withdraw from classes. To spend some time with you and your...

A WellLived Life Book 6 Kara IChapter 14 A Southern Belle a Surprise Proposal two Cheerleaders an Old Flame and a Girl Back Home Part I

October 1981, Chicago, Illinois I arrived back at the apartment just before 10:00pm and saw the address for the party. I decided I wasn’t particularly interested in going so I put on some music, poured myself a glass of wine, and started reading more about Russia. I was alternating between the history and culture book and the Communist Party book, decided on the history and culture book for this time. I didn’t get much reading done because I was thinking about Tatyana, which led me to...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 9 KamiChapter 38 And Sometimes It Stinks To Be Big

January 23, 1996, Chicago, Illinois “Father, bless!” I said, greeting Father Basil with upturned palms. “Bless you, Stephen,” he said as I kissed his hand. The waiter showed us to a quiet table along the wall of Roditys in Greektown. He took our drink orders and was back quickly. We placed our food orders right away and he left to put them in with the kitchen. “I’m not quite sure how to address this, so I’m just going to ask you bluntly. Are you the father of Michelle’s baby?” I shook my...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 8 NIKAChapter 68 The Rules

June 29, 1995, Chicago, Illinois On Thursday, I finally had lunch with Melissa again, something I hadn’t been looking forward to. Much like with Cèlia, Melissa and I had passed an inflection point and I was left with sub-optimal paths forward. I’d been struggling with the possible solutions, and all of them had pitfalls. When I walked into Takumi, I had something of a plan. Whether it was good or not would only be known once everything played out. “I spoke to my wives,” I said after we’d...

December 5, 2000, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota “I had a good time last night,” I said. “I was surprised you invited a friend!” Mary laughed as we walked into the exam room, “Naomi had a good time as well. You know what a Resident’s life is like.” I nodded, “No social life.” “Exactly. You guys seemed to hit it off pretty well.” “Yes, but I’m not here for that!” “You’re everywhere for that, and you know it!” I couldn’t help but laugh. “Let’s just say that you hit the sweet spot -...

Preachers Wife Chapter 3 from Preadhers Daughter

Pam, the MILF preachers wife did as I ordered her. She did give me those panties from her cunt at church as ordered and when I called the Preacher's house the week after I first fucked her, I asked if her husband was home. Yes she said, very well, tell him you are going shopping at the mall and Christian book store. Go buy things at the book store first, then meet me at the pet store in the mall. You are to go into the bathroom at the Christian bookstore and remove your panties, and have them...

A WellLived Life Book 3 PiaChapter 25 The Puzzle and the Cat Part II

March 1980, Hovås/Göteborg, Sweden I woke early as usual, but just enjoyed being in bed with Katt. When she woke, she hopped out of bed and pulled a robe out of her closet and handed it to me. “There’s a spare toothbrush in the bathroom. Go have your shower, then we’ll have breakfast after I have my shower.” I quickly showered and brushed my teeth, and went back to Katt’s room. She went to shower and came back a few minutes later. She dressed, and I got a very good look at her sexy body...

We’ll have some family time this afternoon. I don’t have any plans.” “Good!” I hugged her and the rest of the kids, then went to find Kara. September 3, 1989, Chicago, Illinois “Good morning, Sensei,” I said, bowing to Sensei Jim. “Good morning!” he said waving me to a chair in his office. “How was your trip?” I asked. “Enlightening. I spent most of my time acting as a manservant to Sensei Robert and Sensei Hiro.” “He who will lead, must first serve,” I said. “Someday, I’m going to send you to Sensei Hiro, should he live long enough. You understand.” “Does that mean you are now 6th Dan?” I...

How Preetam Became Preeti 4

Now of some experiences with someone... it was after 35 days my holidays started. We followed our usual routine. By about 10:30, we were both ready and sitting in the drawing room watching TV. Suddenly, the door bell rang. I went and opened the door. My mouth dropped!!! I was speechless. My mom called from inside and asked who it was. Mom's son had come! Very unexpected! He was a bit surprised seeing a new girl at home but I was sure he didn't recognize me! I gave way for him and he came...

October 29, 2000, Chicago, Illinois Birgit followed me as far as the stairs, then scooted upstairs when I went to the front door and opened it. “Hi!” Sophie said. “Hi!” I replied and held the door open so she could come into the house. I closed the door behind her then led her to my study where I waited until she went in, and then walked in, closing the door behind me. I nodded to one of the wingback chairs, she sat down in one, and I sat down in the other. “Is something wrong?” she...

A WellLived Life Book 8 StephieChapter 61 Anala Part II

August, 1983, Chicago, Illinois I walked in the near 90°F heat to Carla’s place. I was grateful that the humidity of the morning had dropped significantly; otherwise the heat would have been unbearable. By the time I walked up the steps to the apartment over the photography studio and knocked on her door, I had broken into a light sweat. Carla answered almost immediately and invited me inside her studio apartment. The air was moderately cool, and the window air conditioner was running full...

July 1982, Milford, Ohio On Tuesday morning, I kissed Kara goodbye and headed to my parents’ house for my usual morning routine with my little sister. She was happy that I could spend the morning with her and asked to take a walk, so we weren’t in the house with my mom. “Let me guess — this walk will end in the clearing,” I said with a smile. “Yes,” she said, taking my hand as we walked down Overlook towards Klondyke. As usual, we turned around and walked back, taking the path to the...

March 13, 1994, Chicago, Illinois “Hi, Steve!” Ailea said when she opened the door. “Hi,” I replied, accepting the offered hug. There was no touching of lips, just of cheeks, and I wondered if I’d misread her intentions at her birthday lunch, or if, perhaps, she detected my reluctance to return the offered affection. “Lunch is ready, so go ahead and sit. I’ll bring it in from the kitchen.” I went to the low table, sat down, and a minute later, Ailea brought miso soup and sushi, our usual...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 10 BridgetChapter 72 An Explosive Discovery

April 3, 1997, Dallas, Texas “Remember what I said about drinking too much,” I said, as I poured bourbon into three cups. We’d stopped at a liquor store, bought a bottle of Blanton’s, and then returned to the small suite I’d reserved at the Westin. Deborah’s room was down the hall, and Krissy’s was two floors below. Krissy’s comment had caught me a bit off guard, but I hadn’t reacted visibly. I didn’t know her quite well enough to know if she’d been teasing with Deborah, so I was being...

Jessica giggled, “I set the alarm for thirty minutes earlier!” “Then let’s not waste any of it!” I said pulling Kara to me. Kara’s squeals as I plunged...

September 1, 1987, Chicago, Illinois “I heard that you have some kind of plan to help Ed,” I said to Connie. “There’s no plan,” she replied. “A witness who saw the shopkeeper alive after Ed left came forward.” That sounded convenient, and I wondered if the witness was real or someone that Anthony had put forward to solve the problem. Certainly, the videotape was real, because I couldn’t imagine how Anthony could have faked that, but the witness? Who knew? “So is he being released? Or is...

August 17, 1997, Chicago, Illinois We finished lunch and Marissa and the younger kids went to play, but Natalie sat with the adults to talk, with coffee, tea, or soft drinks. The Sarcus were very comfortable, but the Heaths were still struggling. But, vitally, they hadn’t left and hadn’t insisted Natalie leave the group. “Can you explain how you developed this attitude and approach?” Chris asked. July 1979 — Falkenberg, Sweden On Friday, when I got back from my run, Pam was in her bra and panties again. I whistled at her, she giggled, then finished dressing. I showered, and we went to breakfast and finished up our last day. Once class was done, we were pretty much free. On Saturday, we’d have several optional activities and then on Sunday we’d head back to our host families. After dinner on Friday, I took Pam’s hand and we walked towards the river. It was quiet and peaceful, and...

July 1980, Over the North Atlantic We reached cruising altitude, and I settled back to read my book. Pam raised the armrest between us, snuggled close to me and read as well. The cabin crew offered drinks, and I had my first Coke in a year! Meal service began about an hour and a half into the flight. After the cabin crew picked up the trays and offered drinks again, they passed once more, offering headsets for the movie. Trevor and Maria took them, but Pam and I didn’t, instead we turned on...
