January 29, 1989, Chicago, Illinois

“Katy O’Connor? I mean Taylor?” I asked.

Elyse nodded, “She left him. She’s in tears in the ‘Indian’ room.”

Shit. I could guess what that was about. I walked to the ‘Indian’ room and looked in the door. Katy was sitting in one of the basket chairs, her knees pulled up to her chest, her dark brown hair unkempt, and tears running down her face.

“Katy?”

“Hi,” she sniffed. “I need to talk to you.”

“Mind if I shower first? I just came from the dojo.”

“Go on. I’m not going anywhere.”

I went back to where Elyse was waiting at the base of the stairs and asked her to come upstairs with me. Kara was in our room with Birgit, and after Elyse followed me in, I shut the door.

“Anyone know exactly what’s going on?” I asked.

“No,” Kara said. “She showed up about twenty-five minutes ago with a bag. I needed to feed our daughter, so Elyse stayed with her.”

“No idea,” Elyse said. “Except that she said she left her husband.”

“Wonderful,” I said, stripping off my gi and putting it in a laundry basket to take downstairs to wash.

I walked into the bathroom and both girls followed me.

“Do you have any idea what might have happened?” I asked.

“No,” Elyse said. “She didn’t say. But it seems like you might from the way you’re reacting.”

I sighed as I stood under the hot water of the shower, “I can make a guess. But I need to talk to her first.”

“Something you can’t share?” Kara asked.

“Not at this point,” I said.

“Why would she come to you and not someone else?” Kara asked.

“It’s a long story, but let’s just say that she and I had a couple of very long conversations that gives me a clue as to what the problem is.”

“You slept with her, right?”

“Right before you walked back into my life, yes. After a LONG dance that began almost right after I arrived in Chicago.”

“Those two were this close,” Elyse said, holding her thumb and forefinger about half-an-inch apart, “from running off together. The only thing that stopped her was that she couldn’t share.”

“The story of Steve’s life,” Kara giggled. “Girls who wanted him but couldn’t share him long term like you, Jessica, and me.”

Elyse looked me directly in the eyes, “The jury is still out on Jessica. We have to help her through this.”

“Jesus, Elyse,” I spat. “Why not just turn the tap to ice cold while I’m standing in a hot shower!”

“You know it’s true. So do I. So does Kara. So does your friend Doctor Barton. And so does Jessica.”

“Fuck,” I sighed. “OK. Forget that problem for a moment. We’ll deal with that in just under two weeks. I have another problem to deal with today.”

“She’s not here to try to claim you, is she?” Kara asked.

“No. That’s one thing I’m sure of. But it’s the only thing I’m sure of. As I said, I can guess WHY she’s here, at least the root cause. What she wants from me is another question altogether. I’d bet just an ear to bend and a shoulder to cry on. And someone to give her advice. I’ll have to talk with her alone, Honey. Though I might bring in someone else or two someones, if I think it’ll help. I’ll tell you what I can when I can.”

“What do I tell Jess if she calls while you’re talking with Katy?” Kara asked.

“Come find me. As much as I want to help Katy, Jess takes priority. Most likely Katy and I will sit in my study, and I can answer the phone. But we’ll see.”

I got out of the shower and Elyse handed me a towel.

“What about lunch, Snuggle Bear?” Kara asked.

“Would you mind making soup and sandwiches and bringing them to my study? I don’t know if she’ll eat, but I’ll try to get her to. Tea also, if you don’t mind.”

“I’ll take care of it,” Kara said with a smile.

“God, watching him shower and walk around naked makes me horny!” Elyse whispered.

“I heard that!” I chuckled. “Now you know how I feel when all of YOU walk around naked! Especially with those baby bellies!”

“Donna W really did a number on you that way, didn’t she?” Kara asked.

I nodded, “She did. I just wish I knew how to get in touch with her and Marcus to see how they’re doing.”

I dressed in sweat pants, a t-shirt, and a Penguins jersey that I’d bought from an ad in The Hockey News. I pulled on ankle socks, and then went back down to the ‘Indian’ room.

“Hey, Katy,” I said. “OK to go to my study?”

She nodded and got up. I took her hand and led her to my study. I shut the door behind us, we sat in the side-by-side wingback chairs, and I reached over and took her hand.

“Kara’s going to bring tea and some food. Want to tell me what’s going on?”

“I left Kenneth,” she said.

“So I gathered from the bag on the floor in the ‘Indian’ room. Do you need a place to stay?”

She nodded, “Yes. Will you let me stay here?”

“You know you’re always welcome. I’ll have Kara take your bag to one of the guest rooms.”

“The left-hand one, if I could,” she said.

That was the one she and I had made love in. I wondered what THAT meant, but I wasn’t going to ask just yet.

“Sure. I’ll tell Kara when she brings our food and the tea. Are you ready to talk or do you want to eat something first?”

“I’m ready, I guess,” she sighed.

“Does this have to do with the conversation we had about four years ago?”

She sighed, “Yes.”

“Why don’t you start at the beginning?” I suggested. “Then we’ll figure out how I can help you. Or if we need someone else to help.”

“You can,” Katy said. “I trust you. Just you, right now.”

“OK.”

She took a deep breath.

“You know my struggle that started about four years ago? And what I started to figure out?”

“Yes, of course. It’s kind of hard to forget everything that happened between us!”

“True. Oh, before I forget, how are Stephie and Jason?” she asked.

My face fell, and a tear formed in my eye. Katy didn’t know!

“Katy, she died from her ovarian cancer a little over year ago.”

“Holy shit! I’m so sorry! I just totally lost touch with you guys and I didn’t know! The last I heard was she had surgery and chemo and was fine!”

“So we thought, but it spread and there weren’t any good treatment options. She died October 2, 1987.”

“I’m sorry,” she said again.

“It’s OK, Katy. You didn’t know. And there’s nothing anyone can do now. Let’s discuss your problem.”

There was a soft knock at the door and Kara came in with a tray that had two bowls of soup, four half-sandwiches of different sorts, and a pot of tea with two mugs.

“Thanks,” I said. “Would you put Katy’s bag in the left-hand guest room, please?”

“Sure,” Kara said. “Anything else?”

“No, that’s all for right now, Honey. Thanks.”

She smiled, then left, closing the door behind her.

“How many kids do you have now?”

“Three, plus two on the way. Jesse, of course, Matthew by Elyse, and Birgit by Kara. Elyse is pregnant again, and so is Jessica.”

“Is Jessica at work?” Katy asked.

I sighed, “No. She’s at a facility in Maine recovering from what amounts to a stress-related nervous breakdown.”

“Sorry,” Katy said. “I am really out of touch. Is she OK?”

“She seems to be. She’ll be home in about two weeks. She left me back in October. We reconciled in December, but then she had to go away so she can get reinstated at the hospital.”

“What the hell?” Katy sighed. “My problems are nothing compared to Stephie’s and Jessica’s.”

“Sure they are, or you wouldn’t be here, eating lunch with me telling me why you left your husband.”

She took a bite of a sandwich and ate a spoonful of soup.

“At first, things were OK. In fact they were really good. But then that problem we talked about started really nagging me.”

“That something was missing from your sex life? Emotional fulfillment?”

I started eating while she talked.

“Yes,” she said. “I tried. I really did. But nothing I did could fix it. I felt empty. Then I met Margaret. To make a long story short, we hit it off and I had an affair with her. At first, living the double-life seemed OK. But the fact that I was hiding something from Kenneth kept gnawing at me. I became, well, aloof, I guess. He noticed and tried to talk to me about it. I rebuffed him.

“I guess it was about five months after the affair started, a friend of his saw Margaret and me together, and saw us exchange a kiss that couldn’t be mistaken for friendship. His friend told him and he confronted me about it. I denied it up and down, but I don’t think he believed me. I was so confused, which caused problems with Margaret. We broke up and I did my best to be a good partner for Kenneth.

“I managed a few months before I met a girl named Lauren that I really hit it off with. To me, it seemed like it was just a friendship, but things quickly spiraled out of control. I guess I was sending off signals, because she knew I was bi or lesbian, which is why she befriended me. We saw each other a lot, and I quit having sex with Kenneth. I made all manner of excuses, and then on Friday, he said he wanted to have a baby.

“That set off crazy alarm bells in my head. I couldn’t deal with that idea. The thought of having his baby made me physically ill. I told him I wasn’t feeling good to avoid sex Friday night, and yesterday, he insisted that I needed to see a doctor because I was feeling so poorly. He thought I was really sick. Last night I started drinking wine and didn’t stop until I finally lay down on the couch and instantly fell asleep.

“This morning, when I woke up, Kenneth and I had an argument. I went to our room, packed a few things, told him I was leaving, and got in my car. I wasn’t sure where to go or what to do. I drove around for a bit, and found myself on LSD. I saw the museum and remembered you lived here and knew you could help me. So I came here.”

I sipped some tea to wash down the last of my sandwich. I’d nearly choked on the ‘LSD’ reference to ‘Lake Shore Drive’, which I always found amusing. I was glad to see that she’d more or less stopped crying, though she still looked very sad.

“We knew this was where this was headed,” I said gently. “We even talked about it. You found your emotional fulfillment with Margaret and Lauren, didn’t you?”

Katy nodded, “Yes.”

“So you’re lesbian,” I said matter-of-factly.

“No, I don’t think so. I’m pretty sure I like sex with guys, but I need a relationship with a woman.”

“That sounds like Josie,” I said.

“But she’s truly 50-50, if I remember right,” Katy said. “She could go either way and be happy. I guess I’m 90-10 or something.”

“And Kenneth can’t deal with that?” I asked.

“No. He’s super-conservative. When he thought I was with Margaret, he nearly lost his mind. I couldn’t do what you do - have a spouse and a lover, or however you want to define things with Kara.”

“You were at the wedding! Jessica, Kara, and I are married, and a trio. Elyse is long-term lover. And there are others who are, well, transient, I guess.”

“Sorry. I haven’t talked to you hardly at all since before you got married, and I didn’t really understand what went on at your wedding, or even after. I guess I was preoccupied. The last time I saw you was at my wedding.”

“I’ve mentioned that to people recently,” I said. “You just stopped coming here.”

“Kenneth doesn’t appreciate your lifestyle choices,” she said. “It wasn’t worth the fight.”

“He seemed like he was dealing OK with it,” I said.

“He tried, but once you married two women, that was the beginning of the end. We were here a few times, like for the Super Bowl, and he came to hang out with the guys a few times. But then he just dropped out. He did let me invite you to the wedding, but after that he wasn’t interested in having anything to do with you.”

“It’s happened before. If people can’t deal with it, they can’t deal with it. So long as they don’t try to interfere, I don’t care what they think.”

“That was always your issue with your mom,” she said.

“Pretty much. What are you going to do?”

“I don’t know yet. Will Kara be upset if I monopolize your time today to catch up and keep talking?”

“No, not at all,” I said.

“And I want to see your kids, of course.”

I smiled, “Of course.”

“What happened with your friend Tatyana? The Russian girl?”

“She’s married to a Colonel in the 1st Guards Tank Army in the USSR. They have a daughter named Lara.”

“Cindi have any kids yet?”

“No. Dave and Julia have a boy and are trying for another. Kathy and Kurt have a baby girl and they’ll have another in the next year or two. Bethany married Nick Evans, but no kids yet, though it wouldn’t surprise me if they were working on it. Jamie and Jackie don’t have any yet.”

“Have you heard from George at all?”

“No. Not since she went back to the Philippines. Charlie is working for me, but she’s still playing the field.”

“I saw your black belt, so I guess karate is going well.”

“Yes. I’ll be running the dojo for about six months while my instructor is in Japan training.”

“Do you still skydive?”

“No. The owner of the old drop zone is in ‘Club Fed’ on drug and money laundering charges and they seized the old drop zone. The alternative is an additional forty-five minutes away, which really is too far at this point. Not to mention I’m so busy with the company and karate and family that I just don’t have time. Do you want to go see the kids? We can keep talking afterwards,” I said.

“Sure,” she said.

We walked out of my study and found Kara and Elyse in the sunroom with Veronica and my three kids.

“Katy, this is Veronica, our nanny. Veronica, this is our friend Katy.”

They nodded to each other.

“Jesse you know, but he’s grown a bit, this is Matthew, and that’s Birgit,” I said, pointing to each kid.

“Wow! Jesse is HUGE!” she observed.

Jesse got up and walked over to where Katy and I were standing.

“Hi!” he said. “I’m Jesse!”

“Hi, Jesse. I’m Katy. I met you when you were a baby.”

“I’m a big boy now! You are pretty!”

Kara, Elyse, and Veronica all laughed hard.

“He’s your son!” Katy said with a grin.

“Dada kiss Katy?” he giggled.

All the adults laughed, including Katy.

“He’s also obviously a major troublemaker!” I added.

“How old are you now, Jesse?” Katy asked.

“Two! I’m three soon! Will you come to my party?”

Katy smiled, “If I’m here, yes.”

“Good!” Jesse said and went back to play with his trains.

“Why is Birgit in your lap, Veronica?”

She smiled, “Her idea of playing trains is to take apart the tracks as fast as Jesse and Matthew can put them together.”

“Another troublemaker?” Katy laughed. “I guess it runs in the family!”

“Don’t I know it!” Veronica said.

She’d felt comfortable joking around since dinner earlier in the week, and that made me happy. We were learning from Veronica the things we’d have to explain directly to a new nanny when Veronica decided to leave us. I knew that would be a bad day for the kids, but I didn’t see much chance of Veronica not getting married in the not-too-distant future.

“Should we go back to the study and talk?” I asked.

Katy nodded, so I kissed my wife, Elyse, and my kids, and winked at Veronica who laughed and winked back. Katy followed me back to my study and we sat down.

“So, Katy Taylor, what’s your plan?” I asked.

“O’Connor,” she said. “I don’t want his name anymore.”

“Well, that’s pretty clear then. Work? Living arrangements? That kind of thing.”

“Well, first, that lawyer you used to set things up for Jennifer and Josie, and for your marriage, does she do divorces?”

“Yes. Her name is Gwen Meyer. I can give you her number and you can call her. Her office isn’t all that far away. Where are you working?”

Katy

Katy moved the shopping basket to her left hand, her right reaching for the hanger. Carefully disentangling the hanger from the others, she dreamily stared at the lace French knickers, with its coloured rose pattern. They were only seven pounds, but her pocket money would not stretch that far, especially since she would have to fork out another twelve pounds for the matching bra. She couldn't really purchase one without the other, though at barely fifteen years of age, there was little need...

Cocktails with Katy

We had been living in our new house for over a year and had gotten to know our various neighbours pretty well. It was a new development on the outskirts of our city so we had all moved into our houses at roughly the same time, giving us all something in common when initially engaging in small talk. We lived at the end of a small row backing on to the embankment separating the houses from the motorway.  Our rear gardens were all separated by fences which were six-feet high at the house end,...

House in the Woods Joshua and Katy

© Copyright 2003 "Oh come on Katy! Let's just see if he'll do it!" The athletic young man tried to drag a brown haired beauty from the cab of his SUV. Struggling to release her arm from his grasp, she responded sharply, while trying to keep the volume of her voice down, "I've been telling you all the way up here, I don't want to do it! Why won't you believe me, Josh!" I let the dogs out but signaled them to hang back, and approached the young couple. He was so engrossed in...

Raping Other Mens Wives 1 Katy

I play in a Pink Floyd tribute band, and a friend of mine, Derek, begged me to have us play at their 4th of July block party. Our regular gig for the 4th cancelled at the last minute; some fuck up with the permit...that's Chicago...probably skipped greasing the wrong palm. We still got paid because the cancellation fell after the deadline. But fuck, this was my favorite gig each year. Playing Floyd on the beach of Lake Michigan with the fireworks going off behind us, pure gasm. Not to...

K5 Secret Holiday Fun with Niece Katy

K5 Secret Holiday Fun with Niece Katy By billy69boyIt was a scene right out of a Norman Rockwell painting, no doubt played out in millions of holiday living rooms throughout the world: the gifts have long ago been exchanged, the big Christmas dinner was already in the past, and an intimate group of close relatives and friends gathered around the television, watching movies together. Our living room scene consisted of my darling nieces Katy, Beth and Mary, along with Katy’s recently announced...

Katy

I grew up on a farm. Well, small holding, really. When I was little, most of it was worked by a neighbour. But then Dad came home from the Army, and bought a little tractor, and started to use the land to feed us. We didn't grow enough to earn serious money, just sold a bit that we didn't need, here and there. We had chickens and ducks, and my first duty was collecting the eggs each morning. Then as I got bigger, I learned to clean out the hut and poultry-run. When Dad came home for good...

My name is Kelly and this happened when I was fifteen and a half years old. My very best friend Katy had invited me to go on a trip with her to Florida. We were both very excited and finally the time came and off we went with Katy's mom, Molly and her friend, Tina. Katy warned me to not be surprised about what her mom, Molly, and Tina do during this trip. Katy said that when these girls get together and away from their husbands it can get very crazy. Katy and I shared everything and we talked...

EmmaChapter 5 Katy

Two weeks later Elizabeth asked if it was okay if her mother, Katy, came to visit for a while. She didn't say for how long so I assumed it was only over the weekend. I would have agreed even if it had been for a year. Her mother was a very likeable and lovely woman, much like her daughter in build and looks. Emma was delighted too. Katy just loved our children and she sent them presents whenever she was traveling, which she was doing almost all the time. She could afford it and she didn't...

May 15, 1992, Glencoe, Illinois “Join me in my study, if you would,” Noel Spurgeon said when we finished our dessert. It had been an interesting evening. Samantha and I had talked for a bit before we’d been summoned to dinner. The meal had been prepared by a chef and was served by a white-coated young man. Again, this was a far cry from Lois at the van Hoeks’ house. What wasn’t a far cry was the fact that I was having dinner with a man who knew I was going to be sleeping with his daughter...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 7 SakurakoChapter 57 Land of the Rising Sun Part III

June 23, 1994, Oguni, Yamagata Prefecture, Japan My first week in Japan flew by, and a routine developed. Sakurako would wake me; I’d exercise and run, then shower and have breakfast, and share tea with Sakurako. After breakfast, I’d meditate, and then have my training session. After lunch, I’d work in the garden, or, as I had this day, wash the floors in the house. Hiroshi would accompany me back to the cottage and we’d talk while I washed up and dressed for dinner. After dinner, I’d spend...

August 1981, Chicago, Illinois On Sunday morning, I made my usual call to Karin. I described everything in the apartment and all the things I’d done during the week, including the reception. Both of us would start school in a week and we were both looking forward to it. When we finished talking, I went out for my run, showered, and ate breakfast. August 21, 1989, Chicago, Illinois “Unbelievable,” I said when I read the headline from the Chicago Tribune. “It says here that Solidarity activist Tadeusz Mazowiecki was nominated to be Prime Minister of Poland.” I hadn’t had a chance to read the paper on Sunday because it hadn’t been delivered before we left for the race track in Michigan. “So now what?” Kara asked. “We’re in totally uncharted territory. July, 1983, Chicago, Illinois I woke up early on the First of July, because my body clock was still set to Swedish time. The flight back had been long but uneventful, and I was happy that the businessman in the seat next to me hadn’t wanted to talk. I read, wrote some longhand journal entries, ate, and generally relaxed while the plane zipped over the Atlantic. I’d come home, taken a sauna, eaten a light meal, and gone straight to bed, not bothering to check messages, look at the mail that...

A WellLived Life Book 1 BirgitChapter 4 Calm Before the Storm

June 1977 When I got home, I grabbed a Coke and some chips and went right to my room. I didn’t think I could deal with my parents or Jeff or Stephanie. I just needed to be by myself. That wouldn’t seem odd to anyone, because I often went to my room to read. In addition, I now had the TV I’d received for my birthday. I flipped it on to WXIX Channel 19 and reruns of Gilligan’s Island and Green Acres played in the background while I read. I had to get my mind clear for the final exams that...

They aren’t supposed to be home before 10:00pm.” Misty and I were in my car on the way to the NIKA apartment which, fortunately, was not being used. With our expansion, it was in more or less regular use, and that meant I didn’t have access to it as often as I would have liked. I was glad there had been a delay in...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 3 JessicaChapter 20 It Happened One Night

January 17, 1989, Chicago, Illinois “What time do you have to leave this morning?” Kara asked as we showered together on Tuesday morning. “About 8:30am,” I said. “I’m driving over to get Jeri, then heading to O’Hare. We have an 11:00am flight. Assuming all goes well, we’ll be in the office by 3:00pm Pacific time. We’ll spend a couple hours going over the software then go to dinner. The demo is tomorrow. Our flight back on Thursday leaves LA at 11:00am, so we’ll be home by 8:00pm, I...

A WellLived Life Book 1 BirgitChapter 7 Setting the Course of My Life

June 1977 Friday ended up being a non-event. The more I thought about it, the more I was sure that there was no way on this earth I could say what happened between Birgit and me was a sin. Calling it a sin would debase it into a meaningless act. I could never do that. And the more I thought about Jennie McGrath, the more sure I was that I couldn’t call what she did for me a sin, either. If the church was right, I was going to hell. And frankly, there was no way that could be true. So I...

A WellLived Life 3 Book 1 SuzanneChapter 32 Still Together

July 22, 2000, Chicago, Illinois “Albert, do you have everything packed?” Mom asked. “Yes, Mom!” I replied, rolling my eyes because she’d asked before I went to bed. “He’ll be fine, Babe,” Dad said. “Let’s walk to the hospital.” I usually didn’t get up early, but Dad had suggested it would help Mom if I walked to the hospital with her because I was leaving to see Jane for three weeks. Mom, Dad, Aunt Kara and I left the house and headed down the sidewalk towards the hospital where Mom and...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 10 BridgetChapter 79 The Last Risk Of Freeze

May 14, 1997, Chicago, Illinois “Start talking!” Melanie demanded when I sat down in her office about an hour later. “There isn’t much to say. Katya found the information for me when I asked her to look into several things about Brandon Littleton, Kevin Lomax, and John Milton.” “Do you know more about him?” “A LOT more. I don’t think you want to know.” “Probably not, but I’m your criminal defense attorney, and even though San Antonio doesn’t have you involved in this, you know the CPD...

The Three Signs Book 2 LoriChapter 28 Live at the Lifesaver

“So, how should we do these Stone’s songs?” Phil asked at our rehearsal session. “I think we all know the music, we just need to come up with a pretty awesome arrangement; we don’t want to sound like yet another cheap cover band.” “I had some ideas, if it’s okay for me to make some suggestions,” Allison said. “Of course it is,” Phil said. “Everyone can have a say, there’s no rule that says you can’t participate in the discussion.” “Thanks, Phil, I guess being the newest here, I’m a bit...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 5 MichelleChapter 77 Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous Part I

May 11, 1992, Chicago, Illinois Monday was turning out to be a LONG day. After my run and talk with Gina, and my talk with Elyse, I had a full day at the office scheduled. First was our leadership meeting in the morning, and then I had status meetings with each team. At lunch I’d gone to see Siobhán and explained that I was going to break off the sexual relationship, but that I wanted to remain friends. She was disappointed, but admitted that Thursday would have been the last time, since she...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 3 JessicaChapter 23 So Now You Turn Back Into Diana Prince

January 19, 1989, En-Route from LAX to ORD When the engines of the plane started, Jeri reached over and took my hand. She held it while we pushed away from the gate, and taxied for takeoff. Her grip tightened a bit as we hurtled down the runway, but nothing like the death grip she’d had on my arm for the flight out. The plane roared its way into the air and once we leveled out, Jeri’s grip loosened but she didn’t let go of my hand. “How are you doing?” I asked with a touch of...

A WellLived Life Book 7 Kara IIChapter 34 Old Routines and New Ideas

September 1982, Chicago, Illinois The weekend was quiet and besides homework, I worked on the program changes for Frank, called Karin, Tatyana, and Kara, and hung out with my usual study group. Monday was refreshingly normal. On Tuesday morning, I handed Katy my completed intake form. She put it in an envelope and stuck it in her bag. She said she’d let me know soon about the interview. On Tuesday afternoon, after having lunch with Stephie, I made my rounds and then I headed over to Sigma...

Dick van Dyke 1: If They Had Made a Movie Based on the Book "Turnabout" By Ron Dow75 ([email protected]) "Rob, do you *have* to watch this movie?!" Laura said, upset. She was sitting up in her twin bed, trying to ignore what was on the bedroom TV behind her book. "What's wrong with this movie? It's a comedy!" Robert Petrie said from his bed. "It's going to give you nightmares! I just know it." "What?? This silly thing?!" "I know how suggestible you are, Rob. You...

A WellLived Life Book 7 Kara IIChapter 35 An Interview and Some New Friends

October 1982, Chicago, Illinois The drive back to Chicago was as uneventful as usual, and I arrived at the apartment just before 6:00pm. When I arrived, Elyse and Stephie were sitting on the couch and Jackie was sitting on the loveseat. Stephie hopped up as I opened the door and greeted me with a hug and a kiss. “Hi, Peaches!” I said. “Glad you’re home, Yankee!” “Hi, Steve,” Elyse and Jackie both said. “Hey,” I replied. “How was the weekend?” “Well, it was just Kurt with me, Stephie,...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 3 JessicaChapter 52 Lifestyle Choices

June 11, 1989, Chicago, Illinois It was just after 3:00am when I kissed Trish goodbye. She’d been an enthusiastic, energetic, and adventurous lover. We’d done just about anything either of us could think of, though her breasts weren’t large enough for a tit-fuck. The last time had been in the shower where we’d ostensibly gone to clean up afterwards, but instead I ended up taking her from behind as she leaned against the wall of the shower. “I think I’ll have you again, Steve Adams,” she...

A WellLived Life Book 1 BirgitChapter 38 Freshman Year Ends

May 1978 The first couple of weeks in May were busy with school, work, and friends. Except for Becky, I didn’t even have any dates. But I was OK with that. Well, almost OK. I wanted to see Anna, but it likely wasn’t going to happen until school was out. I had tutoring sessions with Melanie, but she still wouldn’t talk to me about anything other than Spanish. Barely a hello. I was grateful for the tutoring, but it was maddening seeing my friend this way. I hoped someday she could understand...

A WellLived Life Book 6 Kara IChapter 44 Spring Break 1982 Part I

March, 1982, Milford, Ohio As I drove along I-65, I thought about what Stephanie had asked for and what Bethany had said without even knowing about the request. Of course, because Bethany and I were so in tune, she might have actually had an idea that I was struggling with getting involved with my sister again. I kept turning it over and over in my mind and I kept coming to the same conclusion — that I shouldn’t do it. I was torn between doing what Stephanie wanted and doing what Kara and...

September 7, 1992, Chicago, Illinois “That went reasonably well,” Michelle said when her parents drove off. “There were a few times I thought my expression would give away something I shouldn’t. You were messing with me, weren’t you?” She grabbed both my hands and smiled, “I was telling the truth, in my own way. Thank you!” She leaned forward and kissed my cheek. “So, what’s left?” I asked. “To visit UofC tomorrow and formally withdraw from classes. To spend some time with you and your...

October 1981, Chicago, Illinois I arrived back at the apartment just before 10:00pm and saw the address for the party. I decided I wasn’t particularly interested in going so I put on some music, poured myself a glass of wine, and started reading more about Russia. I was alternating between the history and culture book and the Communist Party book, decided on the history and culture book for this time. I didn’t get much reading done because I was thinking about Tatyana, which led me to...

January 23, 1996, Chicago, Illinois “Father, bless!” I said, greeting Father Basil with upturned palms. “Bless you, Stephen,” he said as I kissed his hand. The waiter showed us to a quiet table along the wall of Roditys in Greektown. He took our drink orders and was back quickly. We placed our food orders right away and he left to put them in with the kitchen. “I’m not quite sure how to address this, so I’m just going to ask you bluntly. Are you the father of Michelle’s baby?” I shook my...

June 29, 1995, Chicago, Illinois On Thursday, I finally had lunch with Melissa again, something I hadn’t been looking forward to. Much like with Cèlia, Melissa and I had passed an inflection point and I was left with sub-optimal paths forward. I’d been struggling with the possible solutions, and all of them had pitfalls. When I walked into Takumi, I had something of a plan. Whether it was good or not would only be known once everything played out. “I spoke to my wives,” I said after we’d...

A WellLived Life Book 3 PiaChapter 25 The Puzzle and the Cat Part II

March 1980, Hovås/Göteborg, Sweden I woke early as usual, but just enjoyed being in bed with Katt. When she woke, she hopped out of bed and pulled a robe out of her closet and handed it to me. “There’s a spare toothbrush in the bathroom. Go have your shower, then we’ll have breakfast after I have my shower.” I quickly showered and brushed my teeth, and went back to Katt’s room. She went to shower and came back a few minutes later. She dressed, and I got a very good look at her sexy body...

I spent most of my time acting as a manservant to Sensei Robert and Sensei Hiro.” “He who will lead, must first serve,” I said. “Someday, I’m going to send you to Sensei Hiro, should he live long enough. I closed the door behind her then led her to my study where I waited until she went in, and then walked in, closing the door behind me. I nodded to one of the wingback chairs, she sat down in one, and I sat down in the other. “Is something wrong?” she...

A WellLived Life Book 8 StephieChapter 61 Anala Part II

August, 1983, Chicago, Illinois I walked in the near 90°F heat to Carla’s place. I was grateful that the humidity of the morning had dropped significantly; otherwise the heat would have been unbearable. By the time I walked up the steps to the apartment over the photography studio and knocked on her door, I had broken into a light sweat. She was happy that I could spend the morning with her and asked to take a walk, so we weren’t in the house with my mom. “Let me guess — this walk will end in the clearing,” I said with a smile. “Yes,” she said, taking my hand as we walked down Overlook towards Klondyke. March 13, 1994, Chicago, Illinois “Hi, Steve!” Ailea said when she opened the door. “Hi,” I replied, accepting the offered hug. There was no touching of lips, just of cheeks, and I wondered if I’d misread her intentions at her birthday lunch, or if, perhaps, she detected my reluctance to return the offered affection. “Lunch is ready, so go ahead and sit. I’ll bring it in from the kitchen.” I went to the low table, sat down, and a minute later, Ailea brought miso soup and sushi, our usual...

A WellLived Life 2 Book 10 BridgetChapter 72 An Explosive Discovery

April 3, 1997, Dallas, Texas “Remember what I said about drinking too much,” I said, as I poured bourbon into three cups. We’d stopped at a liquor store, bought a bottle of Blanton’s, and then returned to the small suite I’d reserved at the Westin. Deborah’s room was down the hall, and Krissy’s was two floors below. Krissy’s comment had caught me a bit off guard, but I hadn’t reacted visibly. I didn’t know her quite well enough to know if she’d been teasing with Deborah, so I was being...

September 1, 1987, Chicago, Illinois “I heard that you have some kind of plan to help Ed,” I said to Connie. “There’s no plan,” she replied. “A witness who saw the shopkeeper alive after Ed left came forward.” That sounded convenient, and I wondered if the witness was real or someone that Anthony had put forward to solve the problem. August 17, 1997, Chicago, Illinois We finished lunch and Marissa and the younger kids went to play, but Natalie sat with the adults to talk, with coffee, tea, or soft drinks. The Sarcus were very comfortable, but the Heaths were still struggling. July 1979 — Falkenberg, Sweden On Friday, when I got back from my run, Pam was in her bra and panties again. I whistled at her, she giggled, then finished dressing. I showered, and we went to breakfast and finished up our last day. Once class was done, we were pretty much free. November 8, 1993, Chicago, Illinois A dark fog swirled before my eyes as I tried to take stock. My head hurt, badly. I felt something on my face and realized, dimly, it was an oxygen mask. My right hand was uncomfortable and I recognized the feeling of an IV and pulse-oximeter. My left arm ached fiercely. On my chest I felt the pads and wires of an EKG. I didn’t feel anything else wrong as I continued taking inventory. I tried to open my eyes, but the fog didn’t clear. I tried to speak, but...
