"What the crap is the matter with you, Connie?" Denise asked, a grin starting to form. "They let us off two hours early on a Friday afternoon, because of all the extra hours we've put in. You've been cleaning house like mad; I've never seen you with makeup on, even when you went out with that asshole you were living with. Now you're running around like a chicken with its head cut off. So the kid has a big dick..."

Connie took a breath. "Yeah, you're right. I don't know what's the matter with me. And it hasn't got anything to do with his dick size. Well, that got my attention to start with," she laughed. "At least what you said about seeing him. But, I don't know. I've always kinda liked the kid. I guess that's the reason I messed with him. I just never thought about having him on a date..."

"A date?" Denise said, "Is that what this is? He's coming over to eat supper with us. You've been with him all day, for goodness sake."

"The heck, I have," Connie said, turning to look at her. "How could I be with anybody sitting in the cab of that crane? You should sit in that oven for a while. It's not the picnic everybody thinks it is. And I help you guys every chance I get," she said, taking the freshly made jug of tea out of the refrigerator where she had put it to cool.

"Look, don't get your panties in a wad. I know you help us when you don't have to. And why don't you get Jackson to fix that damn air conditioner? That son-of-a-bitch drives a new BMW; he can afford a few hundred bucks to fix your air. I don't see how you stand it in there."

"That's what my foreman is for. I've bitched at him twice about it. He said that he talked to Jackson, but so far nobody has even looked at it, let alone, fixed it. And I don't want to talk about work, though. Uh, do I look okay? I need a haircut; it's getting all scraggly."

"What is the matter with you?" Denise asked, as she put the boiled potatoes in the bowl, added butter and salt, then turned the mixer on to cream them. Turning to go to the refrigerator for the half and half, she looked at her friend for a moment and grinned. "Feed him. Tell him, 'Come on, we're going to fuck, ' and drag him to your bedroom. You've razzed his butt for a year; now you're acting like a virgin on her wedding night," she finished as she turned the mixer up another notch.

Connie stirred the tea to dissolve a little sugar that had settled out as the liquid cooled, "I just want him to like me..."

"'Me?' What was that about sharing the kid if he was any good, hummm?" Denise asked, opening the cabinet to get the plates.

"Uh, I did say that, didn't I?" Connie replied, a little embarrassed.

"Look," Denise said, setting the three plates on the table in the small adjoining dining room and stopping to look at her friend. "Looks like I need to bow out. Suppose we eat, then I'll run into town and find something to do for a few hours. When I get back, if his pickup is still here, I'll sit outside and listen to music for a while. No use us getting crossways when we've only been living together for two nights."

Connie suddenly hugged her friend. "Chances are, he won't even think about anything with me, least of all, sex. I'm too much older than he is. He's probably just coming over because he's curious why I quit messing with him and started treating him nice — and the free meal," she laughed. "And... I think he likes you. Heck, at least you didn't screw with him all the time, like I did. I saw him eyeing your tits, yesterday."

Denise pulled back. "I just heard someone pull in the drive. I'll get the door. When you hear us in the living room talking, come on in. That way he'll see you in that great-looking dress as you walk toward him. After that, you're on your own," she finished, leaving the kitchen just as the doorbell rang.

Jeremy was dressed in a pair of dark gray slacks, a button-up shirt that went well with them, and a pair of dress shoes. "Wow, you clean up good," Denise teased as she opened the door.

"Uh, so do you," he answered as she ushered him inside. He tried to look her in the eye, but despite himself, her breasts in the tight pullover top, seemed to pull his eyes to them. Resisting with everything he had, he said, "I missed the mailbox the first time, and had to turn around, but I'm not late, am I?"

"Of course not. It's dead on seven right now. Oh, here's Connie," she said, as her new roommate walked in. I swear that she's blushing, Denise thought as she noticed the color in Connie's cheeks. But, hey, he does look good.

Astonishing everybody, including herself, when she walked up, Connie lightly touched her lips to Jeremy's. Stepping back, she said, "Hi, Jeremy."

Not expecting the kiss, he answered. "Uh, hi yourself. You both really look nice," he said, glancing from one to the other. "I guess I've never seen either of you without either hard hats or baseball caps on, and certainly not in pretty dresses. The guys would be envious of me tonight," he finished.

"Hah, I wouldn't bet on it. Most of them are probably at a bar somewhere looking to get laid. Well, at least the unmarried ones. But, we fixed a big supper." Denise said, "I hope you're hungry, or we'll have to eat the leftovers for a week," she laughed.

"Uh, I haven't eaten anything since a couple of sandwiches for lunch."

"Then you should be ready for some good home cooking. The bathroom is the second door on the right," she said, indicating the hallway. "If you need to wash up. We'll be waiting in the dining room."

In the bathroom, Jeremy washed his hands and ran his comb through his hair again. Boy, I really need a haircut. I'm going to go home next weekend, and I'll get Mom to cut it for me. I can't believe these two foxes have invited me to eat with them. Why has Connie started treating me so nice? I keep expecting her to gig me with that sharp tongue of hers. And why in the world did they invite me over on a Friday night? Surely they must have dates. Connie said she had split up with her live-in. I thought she probably had someone else and dropped El Stupid for him. Wonder why she isn't out with him tonight? Crap, I don't know anything about women. I'll probably say something dumb — as usual.

Apprehensive, he walked back down the hall, through the living room to the dining room.

Denise motioned to the chair at the head of the table. "Have a seat. What do you want to drink? We've got beer, iced tea, or Coke."

"Uh, iced tea is fine."

Connie put ice in another glass and filled it with tea. After setting it beside him, the women sat down. He had remained standing until they sat, one to each side of the table, near him. His waiting until they had taken their seats did not go unnoticed by the women, who glanced at each other.

Connie thought about how she had been treated by her live-in. He never bothered to open a door for me, and certainly didn't wait for me to sit before him. I must have been more desperate than I realized. Of course looking for someone in a bar is chancy at best. I sure would have been better off financially if I had stayed away from the big idiot. No, he wasn't the idiot. I was. He and his buddies all act alike. I had almost forgotten how a real man acts around a woman. The guys on the crew are okay, and they don't treat me badly, but they sure don't open doors. Of course, they treat me just like they treat each other. In a way, that's a compliment in itself, at least for a work environment. I wonder how they treat their wives and girlfriends, though. How would they treat me on a date?

Dinner wasn't anything fancy, just a roast that Denise got on sale, beans, creamed potatoes and gravy, slaw, fried okra, and banana pudding for dessert, but there was plenty of everything.

Connie and Denise both offered Jeremy food at the same time. He smiled at them and took the plate of roast that Denise offered, put a slice hurriedly on his plate, then took the bowl of cream potatoes from Connie, thanking each of them. He seemed tentative, taking a moderate helping of each dish that they offered him. Then as they started to eat, he bowed his head for a couple of seconds.

Remembering that she had seen him do that at work, Connie said, "Uh, if you would like to say the blessing, we wouldn't mind, would we Denise?"

"Certainly not."

Jeremy shook his head, then grinned at the two women. "No, I don't impose myself on others. My parents weren't ultra religious or anything, and I'm certainly not, but my father always said a short grace at the table. Actually the same thing every time, except on Thanksgiving and Christmas, when it was a little longer. When I left home for school, I promised my mom that I would always do it. That's the only thing she asked of me when I left."

The two women looked at each other. "Where do your parents live?" Connie asked.

"Near Burlington. I got a grant for my first year of college, but it wasn't much, so I had to work part-time. After my year, I got this job to save up some money. I hope I can get enough put back with two years of work to get two more full years of college."

"What are you majoring in?" Denise asked, refreshing Jeremy's tea.

"Well, I'm just getting the prep courses out of the way to see if I can make it. So far I've made A's and B's. I think I'd like to be a mechanical engineer. But the calculus courses were hard, and the chemistry was a bitch. I don't know if I've got what it takes or not. And with working, I didn't get to spend the time studying that I would have liked. I did learn some things about studying for my classes though. One of the guys in my calculus class told me that there were just so many variations of any type of problem. Most every type had a little trick associated with it, and of course, the problems on the test weren't exactly like the examples in the textbook. Sometimes, they weren't even close.

"Anyway, he said his older brother had told him to go to the library, get several textbooks, find the type of problems that you were currently working on in each book, and presto, there would probably be several variations all worked out in the examples. He said that it worked for him, and it worked for me. My grades started coming up, and the tests were suddenly easier. My last tests for calculus, physics and chemistry seemed simple because of spending more time actually studying, instead of trying to figure what in the heck they were talking about."

Realizing that Jeremy's portions were far smaller than a working man would normally put on his plate, Denise added more food to Jeremy's plate. "We didn't poison anything Jeremy, and regardless of how Connie has treated you for the last year, we don't bite either. Well, not much, anyway," she laughed.

"Okay," he said, smiling. "I know I'm a little bashful around girls. I always have been. The food is excellent. I just don't want to make a pig out of myself."

"Believe me," Connie said, "you would have to go a long way to be in the class of that scumbag I was stupid enough to move in with. Now eat up, or else we're going to think it's our lousy cooking."

Jeremy made a little hollow in his creamed potatoes with his fork as Denise scooped more gravy onto them with a big spoon.

"Thanks," he said as he started eating again. "And, believe me, this is wonderful cooking. And I'm sure tired of mine. Uh, I've set myself up on a budget — my mother's suggestion — so I generally eat the same things all the time. Mostly dried beans, rice and potatoes. I don't usually splurge on meat. But I've managed to put a good bit of money away during the last year. Jackson's company pays better than I was able to find anywhere else, particularly without having any real skills. But he hired me anyway, even though I told him I would only be working for two years before I went back to college.

"He asked me what I was majoring in, and when I told him I wanted to be a mechanical engineer, he just grinned and said he might be growing his own, and hired me."

"Well, he might not be the nicest guy in the world, but he does know how to make money. He got a smart young man who said he would work for the company for two years. That's probably a lot better than having some clod work for him forever," Denise laughed. "And he's obviously filling a niche with those quick to assemble silos. He's got a good product, and he pays decently. He didn't lie to us about why he hired the two of us. He just said that he didn't have enough women working for him, and wanted to correct that before he got into trouble. I don't guess he's required to like us," she grinned. "But he darn sure doesn't seem to have a lot of personality."

"Oh, so I'm a 'smart young man, now?'" he said, before taking a drink from his tea glass.

"Yeah, you're probably smarter than the rest of us," Connie broke in. "Heck, the most of us on the crew only have a high school education, and I've just got a GED. When Mom got sick, I stayed home to take care of her and the other kids, and run the house. Then I had missed too many days. They said I would have to do the twelfth grade over, so I just didn't go back."

"But you got your GED," Jeremy said, "Same difference."

"I wanted to go to college, but it didn't happen," Connie said, her voice a little wistful.

"Yeah, me too," Denise said. "I guess that fits a lot of people. Sometimes it just isn't in the cards."

"But both of you are smart," Jeremy said, sitting back and looking at the women. "You could still go."

"Yeah, right," Denise said. "Now how am I going to make my house payment, and save up enough money to go to school?"

"There's all kinds of tuition programs out there," Jeremy said, starting to eat again.

"Then, why are you working to save up money for school?" Connie asked.

Jeremy hurriedly swallowed a fork full of fried okra. "Boy, this is good. This is the best food I've had in a long time." Then looking at Connie, he said, "Most of the time, you've got to pay that money back. I know that some people get a free ride, but when I applied, I didn't get it. My grades weren't anything extra in high school, and well, I don't want to run up some gigantic debt that I'll have to pay back. I'm not in a hurry. I'm young. I want to pay my way through."

Taking another bite, he swallowed, then, "When my folks wanted something, they saved up and bought it. Oh, they have credit cards, but they mostly used them for emergencies, or for something you can't buy without a card. But we never had new cars, or trucks; they usually bought something not-quite-new to save money, like they did when they bought my pickup for me on my sixteenth birthday. But it had low miles, and was in perfect shape. They had been saving for it, and they went out and bought it. That's the way I'm going to do my college education. I'll make it, but calculus scared me," he laughed. "I think I have a handle on it now, though. I've learned how to study."

After dinner, they adjourned to the living room to get to know each other a little better. Denise grabbed him on his butt as they all started to sit on the couch, and he jumped. After laughing and cutting up for a while, they got a Monopoly game out, teasing each other about three adults playing Monopoly on a Friday night. "Boy, the guys better never hear about this," Jeremy said as the women opened the board on the coffee table. "Me playing a board game with two foxes like you. They'll rag me for the rest of my life."

Denise sat back down beside him, then leaned over and kissed him for a few seconds. Pulling back, she said, a grin on her face, "I'll bet they wouldn't rag you too much about that."

As Jeremy opened his mouth to respond, Connie sat back down on the other side of him, and kissed him. When she leaned back, Jeremy was blushing, and crossed his legs.

Laughing, the women put cushions from the chairs on the floor beside the coffee table. Sitting on the cushions and grinning at their male friend, the game began.

Later, tired of the game, Denise grabbed Connie's hand. "Jeremy, we'll be back in a minute. Don't you dare go anywhere. We just need to do something for a moment. We'll be right back."

Almost dragging Connie down the hall, Denise turned into her bedroom and shut the door behind them. "Okay, it's put up or shut up time," she said staring her friend in the eyes. "If you want me to, I'll take a ride downtown, or we can do something else. To be truthful with you, I don't really want to go. But I will if you think that's the best thing."

"Uh," Connie started, then hesitated, looking at the floor for a moment, then back at Denise. "I've got a sort of confession to make. I, uh, talk rough around the guys on the crew, well, to kind of keep them at arms length, I guess you could say." In a rush, she finished, "I've really only had two guys: my husband and that turkey I moved in with. If you count 'Weenie Dick, ' the two hunch king," she said, her voice changing. "My ex-husband's idea of making love was, 'bend over the table, Bitch, ' and he slammed it in. I'm scared to death around Jeremy. He's so nice. I don't even know what to do. He hasn't made a pass at either of us, and I don't think he's going to. I don't want to make him think we're sluts..."

Denise started laughing, and thinking that the laughter was at her, Connie's face turned red.

"No, no," Denise said, realizing what was happening, grabbing her friend by the arm. "I'm not laughing at you. I'm laughing at us. You see, this slut isn't very much more experienced that you. I've had the guy in high school that took my cherry. The operative word being 'took.' I never dated that bastard again. The next was my husband. And I had a one night stand right after I got divorced. Heck, it's been so long since my pussy has had any use that I'm afraid it has grown up."

Thinking a minute, Denise continued, now taking Connie by the hand in her exuberance. "Why don't you go back out and sit down with him. Heck, it looks like he isn't going to do anything. So kiss him, and make out with him for, say... twenty minutes. Then I'll come out and do the same. We obviously aren't going to carry him off to our bedrooms. After we each have a turn, we'll back up and punt," she finished, grinning. "By then, he'll be ready to rape us, or, heck I don't know. Let's just have fun."

Connie looked doubtful. "I don't know. My ex kissed me — I guess you could call it that — running his tongue down my throat. Then he was ready to fuck. The ox didn't even do that much. But kissing Jeremy is fun. I just hope I don't make a fool out of myself."

Arlene Ch 2

This story illustrates a risk of sex under hypnosis. It could be called rape. This story builds on ‘Arlene Gets Hypnotized,’ my previous story. * * * * * I was sitting in my office at the University when Arlene walked into my open office. ‘Professor, are you busy?’ I probably was, but Arlene was a delight to look at and to have around. Especially to a 58 year old psychology professor who was pretty much reduced to dreaming about what had been and might have been. ‘Well, I was deep in...

Arlene and JeffChapter 22

At eight on the dot, he carried a laughing Jennie into an instantly quiet kitchen. Still in his arms, Jennie kissed him. Turning to the other wives, she gave the proclamation, "I'm full of come," then followed with, "but ... I'm broken." That started the usual scramble, but they had the pussy cream in the kitchen this time, and Jeff insisted that he carry her to the hot tub. He kissed her tenderly, then was shooed away by Diana, who kissed him and whispered. "That glow on her face...

The Retreat Arlene and Ann finally managed to get Jeff reasonably alone for a couple of minutes. After kissing him passionately, Arlene transferred Little One to the Prime’s shoulder, where she made her way under his collar to her usual resting place spread across his back. As soon as she had settled in, he told her how much he loved and missed her before giving her a brief account of the trip. Little One told him how much she missed him and shared the happenings in Germany. All of this was...

THE RETREAT: LATE THURSDAY NIGHT Arlene and Selina sat on Selina's bed, their backs propped against pillows as they played with Billy. Arlene slid her hand back and forth under the sheet as Billy pretended to stalk a terribly dangerous prey. He held his body and his head very close to the bed, occasionally lifting his head slightly to peek at his target, the tip of his tail twitching continuously. Then, he would jump as high as he could, coming down on Arlene's hand, tussling with it...

A shaking of Ann's shoulder accompanied a discordant buzz from her watch. "Plebe, you have thirty minutes to shower, dress and get to your first class. You don't have time for breakfast today, so ask the AI for a couple of energy bars." Ann, bleary-eyed, shut her alarm off and swung her legs out of her bed as the Class Lieutenant, already immaculately clad in her uniform, stepped back to give the smaller girl room to stand. "Thanks, Arlene," Ann mumbled as she came to her feet and...

The Mission Hours later, Arlene and Ann, tired, eased to the edge of a high rock bluff overlooking the massive power station in the distance. “Well, they sure don’t bother to conserve energy, at least with their lights,” Arlene sarcastically remarked as they stared at the brilliantly lit station. Worried that they might be discovered, both young women had employed their sensors over the edge to gather information before proceeding with their mission. “Just how are we supposed to get from...

The women had pushed the two kitchen tables together. Frank Wainwright stood looking at them as Jeff, Kayla, and Diana came in. "We either need to get a bigger table in here, or start eating in the dining room." "Bigger table," Jeff and Diana said at almost the same time. "The dining room is too formal," Diana continued. "We want to be a family, and with all of us for three meals a day, it's a lot easier to serve in here than taking the food into the dining room. The kitchen is...

The Retreat ... The Sheriff and his family had left. Jeff and Joe Martin were sitting in the living room talking while the women had gone somewhere, probably to the bathroom. “So, how’s the honeymoon going?” Jeff, at a loss for a topic, asked uncomfortably, not wanting to get into the subject that he thought Arlene should take care of. “Great. I’m still amazed that she actually married me. Sir, the woman brought some polish along and polished her wedding ring – a brand-new wedding ring. I...

But the skin suit sluffed off the creature’s actions without much notice, and she stomped it into the muck. A few minutes later, they were out of the water and on a long peninsula of muddy land that extended partway through the swamp. Tired, the two stopped for a breather. But I think I’ll go to full shields right about...” A geyser shot hundreds of feet into the air as the craft hit the water with a sound that could be heard many, many miles away. Even at full shields, some of the shock bled through and, had it not been for the gravity field of their seats,...

Arlene and JeffChapter 24

Laura woke him the usual way, and she almost went too far. When Jeff grunted and his cock started to swell, she jerked her mouth off. It was a near thing for a few seconds. "I guess I almost went off while I was still asleep," he groaned. "Wow, I'm really horny." "Sorry, Jeff. You usually go forever. I wouldn't mess it up for Diana for the world." "It wasn't your fault," he said, finally regaining control. "It's just the stress of the day. Of course, I've had two of those damn...

Arlene and JeffChapter 257

In their bedroom, dressed in pajamas, the girls flopped into bed. Terry grabbed the remote and dialed the lights down, then turned to her sister. "Arlene said that we wouldn't have any more periods until Little One turns them on for us again. Boy, I can sure live with that." Alice got a look on her face and responded, "Well, as you know, I've only had one, but it sure was icky – not to say anything about worrying if I were bleeding to death. If that's what it takes to be a woman, I...

Arlene and JeffChapter 297

Jeff and his women had showered and were in bed only moments when Ship announced that Arlene's scout was minutes away. Since the family was still using their suite on the Ship, they were quickly dressed – well partially anyway – and waiting for Arlene as she maneuvered her scout through the outer bay door and onto the flight deck. She didn't go all the way to the scout's bay though, but stopped in front of her family. An instant after the scout came to a halt, its belly hatch opened and...

The Waterfall Campsite ... Dessie straightened up and stared at Ann. “I have eaten pheasant, fish and rabbit until they’re practically coming out my ears. I’ve had MREs while backpacking and wasn’t in love with them all that much, but I think I would love some now, no matter what the meal consists of.” “We have an assortment. I noticed a Brisket Entreé, Chicken something or other, and a Beef Stew, with whatever goes with them, and several more besides. We just grabbed some at random in...

JUST OUTSIDE A SMALL NORTHWESTERN TOWN Once again Nichols sat worrying in front of his boss' elegant desk. Rich, wealthy, words don't describe the extreme category the older man fit into. Nor can you describe how evil this man is either, Nichols thought, his face devoid of expression as he waited for Mr. Moreau to end his phone call. Nichols dreaded that. When the call ended, Moreau would ask questions that Nichols didn't have acceptable answers to. The town council members think Moreau...

Arlene and JeffChapter 122

Jeff, Diana, Dave and Evie sat in the living room, waiting. When the phone rang, Diana checked the caller ID and answered. "Glad you guys are back." "Diana, I..." The voice chopped off, then Carla cleared her throat and tried again. "Diana, our dreams..." Carla's voice stopped again, to be replaced by quiet sobs of joy. "I can't..." "You just did," Diana said softly. "You're on speaker, so all of us can hear you. Jeff, Dave and Evie are here with me and listening. And, you're...

...”See that tree that has the broken limb hanging down?” “Yes,” Aiko gasped out. “We’ll jog to it, then we will walk for a hundred steps.” “I don’t know...” “Yes, you do. You know you can. I’ll bet it’s even less than a hundred steps. Let’s count them,” she finished as she began counting their steps aloud while they slow-jogged. Soon Aiko added her voice. “Ninety-two. Told you it was less than a hundred. Now we’ll walk for a hundred steps, and rested or not, we will jog starting at...

Arlene and JeffChapter 374

The Retreat As Charlotte and Diana sat at the bar in the kitchen watching the other women, Selina stopped by. "Want to help?" the little genius asked the young woman. Worried, Charlotte answered, "Everything is happening so fast that I barely know what's going on." "Oh, you will get used to that," Selina said as she reached for Charlotte's hand. "Well, I'll be glad to help if I can." Charlotte glanced at Diana, who nodded with a smile. "No better way than to just dive...

Arlene and JeffChapter 220

They were high up and soon over the ocean, having left the continent behind. They passed the terminator and continued into night, still headed west, the myriad lights of the cities twinkling as the Earth seemed to slowly spin below. But before the view could become boring – if it ever could -- the horizon seemed to shift downward on the big screen as the Ship gradually pointed her nose away from the planet, the full moon drifting down toward the center of the viewscreen. There was a...

Jeff met with Kei, Edi and Alesha on the updated design that they were working on for the new ski lodge, then stopped off in the living room to watch the late news before eventually winding up in his suite. After a shower where he "played" with Jennie and Melissa, he walked into a strangely quiet bedroom. Looking around, he began to wonder. "What?" he asked, then suddenly it hit him, "Where's Ann?" Arlene caught his eye. "We've looked for her, and she's not anywhere in the Retreat....

The Castle ...”Certainly,” Arlene responded, “but please don’t either of you touch it. The AI can become quite persnickety, and he has the means to back up his displeasure.” “You have a functioning artificial intelligence?” Karl asked. “Please don’t mention it around him. I think he is trying to find a way to become a citizen,” Arlene returned with a chuckle. “Uh, I won’t,” Karl responded, not quite sure if Arlene were kidding or not. Both Karl and Fischer thanked Arlene and hurried off...

Arlene and JeffChapter 228

Jeff had stopped by his office to pick up a few pieces of printer paper. Alone in the living room a couple of minutes later, he wadded up a sheet of the paper into a loose ball. If I screw up with this paper ball, air resistance, if nothing else, should keep its flight slow enough to prevent me from tearing up things. With Arlene's encouragement while on the Ship's range, he had gained a small measure of expertise as he mentally moved a steel ball around and caused it to spin, but he still...

The Mission ... Both were tempted to use their suits’ drive units, but they knew that would alert the Throme if anything would. Scrambling down, they were soon in the water. A hundred meters out, they saw a glint of movement coming toward them just under the surface. “Let’s go home,” Arlene said to her partner. As soon as the hatch closed and even before they were out of the airlock, the AI had them moving away from land. “Oh, I so want to get out of this suit,” Arlene grumped a few...

The Retreat Shortly after lunch, Arlene went out to the Ship expecting to sit in one of the command couches and be swept away by the simulator to another very realistic space battle, but she froze as soon as she passed through the hatch. Jeff had called Kayla and Art to his office, intending to ask them to begin training in the Ship's simulator. Before he could begin, the AI turned the TV on to show Arlene jogging back from the Ship. The AI didn't say anything, but apparently thought...

The Retreat After breakfast, Arlene, Ann and Selina gathered enough food to last them the rest of the day. “Should this not be the correct castle and we continue the search, we will need something to drink with our lunch,” Selina said as she opened a refrigerator. “There is water available at each station on the interceptor. As for soft drinks, please bring only what you are sure you will drink. Storage space is at a premium,” Arlene told the seven-year-old. “Bathroom?” Selina asked as...

Jeff had just dialed his next door neighbor who lived a mile down the road. "Steve Sperman here." "Hi Mr. Sperman. This is Jeff. How's it going?" "Hmmm. Didn't we have a discussion about that Mr. thing?" Jeff chuckled. "Yeah, I guess we did, Steve. How's Marcie doing?" There was a hesitation. "You know, that's a funny thing, like I mentioned before. Seems like after the night we spent at your place, ol' Uncle Arthur (arthritis) suddenly got much better. Odd that both of us...

Arlene and JeffChapter 656

The Prison Planet Ship had received permission from her Prime to go back to Earth long enough to pick up Arlene, Ann and the other aviators, then take the Wing to orbit for its launch. The trip to Earth and back would only take a few minutes. Giving the interceptors a ride to orbit and their launch would take only a few minutes more. The interceptors normally remained in their bays on Ship’s flight deck, so she would have to go back anyway. Also, she would have to return to Earth again when...

Arlene and JeffChapter 277

Deep Space "Question is, are they going to notice us?" Ann asked as she watched as one of the alien vessels came from behind a large chunk of moon and headed straight for them. Ann knew she could not warp out without her drive trying to take some of the debris field with them, which would probably result in the destruction of her warp drive, and/or her ship. In addition, she strongly suspected that the aliens would pick up her inertialess drive's signature, should she use that with them...

“Despite our AIs actually doing the flying, I want every pilot to have his or her hands on the controls at all times when we do this for real, and when we practice as well. Ann and I have put together a rough outline. Everything seems to work in the simulation, but we haven’t done it for real yet. There could very well be glaring errors that only show up when actually flying the patterns. Bottom line: be careful and think about what the next step is. Does the current process make sense with...

When they left the suite a few minutes later, they saw Melissa at the far end of the hall. She seemed to do a double-take, then turned and rushed around the corner, probably heading for the kitchen. A little later, when they walked through the door, she was already setting out two more plates. Jeff pulled Ann tighter against him, and they stopped just inside the kitchen. I know Ann is blushing. Damn, I thought I was too old to blush, but my face feels like it’s on fire. Everyone was seated...

EARLIER IN THE MORNING AT QUINTON TATE'S HOME After his morning shower, Quinton, dressed in his uniform and still buckling on his gun belt, walked into the kitchen. Before he could sit down, the phone rang. "Quinton," he said, putting the instrument to his ear as he finished securing the belt with the keepers. "Well, good morning. Are you planning to go somewhere on your little impromptu vacation?" his Captain asked, cheerily – a little too cheerily. "What vacation?" Quinton joked...

"We still have a problem," Diana said. "I doubt if Billy has ever used a litter box. So how are we going to train him to use it and not pee on the carpet? Since there aren't any pet stores in Winter Park, I guess we can order a kennel on the Internet and have it overnighted, but as late as it is, it will still be day after tomorrow before it gets here..." "Yeah, we were lucky the grocery store even had litter boxes. But we're ahead of you about the kennel," Jeff said. "Arlene had an...

The Retreat ... Charlotte and Ada sat for a moment as Diana's words sank in. Both mother and daughter were clearly skeptical as they furtively glanced at the other three women. Diana let out a chuckle. "You can say it; we won't get mad." Ada hesitated. "This is no joke? You're actually telling us that Susan is your mother and Arlene is your daughter?" Jeff sat in his usual place at the head of the table. Frank Wainwright sat to Jeff's right as the family (minus four who were eating with Margaret and Tina in their suite) ate lunch. All the Alphas ate a lot, and Jeff usually ate more than most of them, but today, he was hungrier than usual. He had gone through his first plate and was already started on his second one. "Looks like you're a bit hungry today," Frank tactfully said. "I didn't see you after breakfast. What did you do to...

Joyce, Caitlin, Jennie, Melissa and Ann came in with the latter two pushing serving carts. Soon, the table was set and food arrayed in front of Arlene, Diana, Susan and Jeff. The wives' efficiency was not lost on Susan, but she refused to acknowledge it due to her sour mood. Each time she had talked to her daughter or granddaughter on the phone lately, her suspicions that something was going on had increased. Then the introductions in the living room were almost more than she could...

Everyone except Matt and Courtney was waiting in the living room. The new SAC and his wife had borrowed an Escalade and driven down to Winter Park. "HELICOPTER APPROACHING FROM THE NORTH. SECURITY HAS CLEARED IT TO LAND ON OUR PAD." Aboard Ship, Arlene, Ann and Selina are teaching the Morales family how to field strip, clean and reassemble a pulse rifle. ...”Very good, Mr. Morales. As everyone walked down the hall toward the theater, Selina hung back. When Diana turned and caught her eye, Selina, with purpose, walked on past, turned the corner and went on to her suite. If I do not ask, then the answer cannot be no, she thought. Waiting four minutes by her internal clock, she walked back out of her suite, down the hall and peeked around the corner in the direction of the theater. There was no one in the hallway. Shortly, she slowly opened the theater door the tiniest...

With the Alphas at Security headquarters studying the pulse rifle and the women apparently all in the basement, Jeff wandered through the Retreat at a loss as to what he should be doing. Deciding he would work in his lab to pass the time, he returned to the basement. Poking his head in one of the rooms, he got a smile from Kayla who was leading an exercise class – push-ups for the moment. Now get out of my face before I change my mind and do what I know should be done.” Without saluting, Worthington spun on his heel and stomped out. Jeff sat thinking. Should I tell his Commander why I’m sending him back? After a moment, he shrugged. On second thought, I asked for his best aviators to give them a chance in my unit. No one, other than us,...
