The pajama party was fun, but just sitting around as we waited for camp to 'go to bed' was hard. "I'll try to be more discreet," I mumbled as I clumsily made my exit.
I was thankful when Julie and Katie didn't tease me at lunch. Maybe they sensed that I was already more than a little wired, or maybe they had other things on their mind as I noticed Katie kept glancing off towards where Ali was eating at a table by herself. Unfortunately I didn't have time to find out as I needed to go help saddle and clean up after the horses.
Working in the barn helped clear my head. I realized that today might have been the first time I ever saw Ali eating alone at school. It bothered me that I hadn't noticed sooner, but after her little piercing stunt, well, I just wasn't sure if she even wanted me to get involved.

"And maybe I should tell Mom about you studying in the nude?"

Ali just rolled her eyes and sighed. "I guess we're both going to have to work at this."

With that worry out of the way it was like a weight had been lifted from my shoulders and I felt like celebrating.
"Looks like that went well," Julie observed, wrapping her arm around my waist.
"Yeah, it's going to take some getting used to, but I think we'll find a way to work things out."
