We looked up the room service menu and my friend called down and placed the order. The flatmate suggested we also order a couple bottles of wine, which had me raising an eyebrow, but I didn’t say anything.

We ate largely in silence, with the TV providing the distraction from the need to actually converse. My friend and I nursed our wine glasses slowly, but the flatmate proceeded to chug her way through three glasses while she ate.
