We stood there for what seemed like an hour, but couldn’t have been more than a few seconds, all of us lost for words. We looked up the room service menu and my friend called down and placed the order. The flatmate suggested we also order a couple bottles of wine, which had me raising an eyebrow, but I didn’t say anything.
We watched TV as we awaited the food and my friend cuddled up next to me on the couch. Her T-shirt rose above her waist in the back and I softly massaged her bare butt cheeks. Room service arrived shortly. I hid in the bedroom in my towel while the girls signed for the delivery. My friend set up the plates on the small coffee table as the flatmate broke out the wine glasses and poured us one each.
As we sat down to eat, I noticed the flatmate trying to pull the hem of her T-shirt down a bit so as to not put too much on display. My friend’s T-shirt was slightly longer, so she didn’t have the same issue. I sipped quietly on my wine as I admired the flatmate’s tanned legs. We ate largely in silence, with the TV providing the distraction from the need to actually converse. My friend and I nursed our wine glasses slowly, but the flatmate proceeded to chug her way through three glasses while she ate. This time I looked at my friend for her cue but she semi-shrugged as if to convey that there wasn’t much point keeping secrets now.

My friend came to my rescue and explained something in her language. The flatmate’s eyes went wide.

The flatmate paused for a second, turning bright red, and asked in a whisper. “Maybe I join you?”
I looked at my friend and saw too much uncertainty in her eyes. This was already moving much faster than we expected. Exhibitionism was one thing, but the open ended suggestion was probably too much for now.

The flatmate’s face was a mixture of disappointment and relief at our response.
