"Who are you two?" asked Rory quietly as he stared at them.

"Rory we're still your friends, but we're also different people than who you know. I promise I'll answer all your questions later. I'll meet you back here in about an hour or so.

"Watch over Terrance. I don't believe he'll die, but if I'm wrong come get me. But for now I need to hurry and get Ariel to our room. I'll explain why I need to do this as fast as humanly possible when I return," said Nathan quickly.

Moving past Rory who was still starting at the pair, Nathan quickly made his way to their room while still holding Ariel close to him.

Once inside she destroyed his clothes as she completely ripped his shirt, pants, and underwear off of him as if there were made of wet paper and insistently pushed him towards the bed.

A little over an hour later Ariel was sleeping quietly and Nathan made his way to Terrance's room to have his talk with Rory.

Ariel slept because she was really exhausted from fighting to maintain some form of control in her full blown rage for as long as she did.

Knocking once, Nathan entered the room, only to find Rory sitting in a chair in front of Terrance's bed staring at him with his naked sword across his lap. Ariel's twin swords were beside him leaning against Terrance's bed.

Sighing Nathan entered and sat in the chair close by the door. It was apparent that Rory was waiting for him and setup the room to his best advantage.

"Who are you? I heard Ariel call you Aric, why was that?" asked Rory wearily.

"I'm the Battlemage Aric Griffith," stated Nathan simply.

Looking at him like he had grown a second head Rory spoke again "I find that hard to believe. I heard he was a blonde man."

"No he's not. He's pretending to be me and that's why I'm here to find out who he is and why he is abusing my name," said Nathan a little heatedly.

"What is Ariel?" asked Rory looking hard at Nathan changing the subject.

"The woman you know as Ariel is my wife Brianna Ariel Griffith," said Nathan.

"I heard that she had died," said Rory simply.

"That is a rumor that I allowed to be released to protect her," said Nathan.

"Why is that? And how did she do what she did? How is she able to resist magic?" asked Rory quickly. He wanted to know how she did what she did.

Sighing, Nathan told Rory of the final moments during his battle with the dragon, Brianna being gravely injured, and his infusing his wife with some of his power to save her life.

Then he told him about Keith.

That during that time they found out that with his magic inside her, in times of intense anger or pain, she would become an unstoppable and mindless berserker that could kill everyone in range until she reached Nathan.

And only an intimate moment shared between them could restore her back to sanity. And that it wouldn't work with anyone else because it had to be Nathan.

As he finished Rory looked back at him in shock.

"That's what really happened to Keith isn't? She killed all of those bastards, and because they were all mages there was no way they could stop her, wasn't it?" asked Rory softly.

He remembered what happened to Terrance's blade at their first meeting and Teresa reaction combined with what Ariel just did a few moments ago.

"Pretty much. We didn't even know that would happen until it did. Keith had kidnapped me, and he and his men were going to rape Ariel, and she killed almost everyone she came across to prevent that," said Nathan.

"But why trust me with all of this, any of this?" asked Rory.

"Because you saw our secret. There are people who would either try to kill me or kidnap Ariel to learn the secret of how I infused her with magic to save her life, and I can't do it again. It was a rare once in a life time thing that I don't even know how I did it.

"And as you just saw she gained a few other abilities that if we could ever control would be beneficial to others to have. And you can also appreciate my desire to keep this from getting out," said Nathan looking at him meaningfully.

"Yes I could see that. So you really are the famous Battlemage then?" asked Rory.

"That and I am still your friend. Let me have a look at Terrance for a moment," said Nathan as he rose and went over to the bed behind Rory.

His hand was glowing softly white as he ran it over Terrance's body

"She was taking his life essence since that is what Succubi do to survive. But usually they don't take it all because it can kill their target. And he's not physically harmed so there is nothing for me to fix, but he'll need rest before we can leave.

"She won't be able to come back and finish him off unless she kills him outright now because he as to be willing to have sex with her, and right now he can't consent to it as he is," stated Nathan.

"All those times I wondered why you were so good with your sword. All those times I watched you learning to use your staff, and you were so much better than everyone around you as a beginner, now it makes sense. It makes perfect sense," said Rory softly over Nathan's shoulder.

His mind was elsewhere while Nathan was working.

"Can you keep this secret?" asked Nathan wondering for the first time if it would be an issue.

"Knowing that it could get Ariel killed if I don't? Of course. And I already know from what Terrance saw once we tell him why he'll keep it as well," said Rory

Nathan turned and looked at Rory and he could see that his face was set. He knew Rory would take the secret to his grave if need be.

"The freaking Battlemage was one of my closest friends and I never knew it," said Rory softly.

"Remember I will be doing everything in my power to never use magic. If there are times you can help me with that I would appreciate it," said Nathan smiling.

"I'll do whatever I can to help," smiled back Rory as he reached out and squeezed Nathan's shoulder.

"But whatever you do please keep calling me Nathan. It makes it easier to hide," said Nathan to him.

"Since I met you as Nathan, and it's what I've been calling you all along, I believe that won't be a problem," said Rory smiling.

Nathan excused himself and headed back to his room. As he passed the foot of the bed he reached out and took Ariel's swords with him. He carried them back into their room and leaned them against the door before he headed to bed.

But he was faking about everything being alright, because Ariel had take more out of him than he could really spare tonight.

It took all he had left in him to appear normal to Rory as they had their talk, and once he reached the bed he fell into it and was dead to the world.

Kathryn was in her room with her knees drawn up to her face staring into nothing with extremely wide eyes and she was still scared.

No, she was feeling such stark raving terror that it was a completely foreign emotion to her. She was still shaking hard hours later from what she had witnessed looking deep into Ariel's eyes while in that room.

All she could do was think:

How did she do that with her eyes? How did she make her so scared? Why didn't her spell harm her? She already knew that her seduction powers didn't work on women, but why not regular magic? And just why was she so terrified of just looking at another woman? Was it magic similar to hers? What was that!!

And that woman almost killed her while she couldn't move! She would have too if she hadn't teleported herself at the last second.

One look in that woman's eyes made her so scared she almost lost control of her bowels.

But even though she felt like that, she still felt the deep need to add that man's power to her own, and she would need to think of a way to get it and prevent his wife from interfering. She had already used up almost half of her stored power just fighting with him tonight.

She thought she might have an idea, but she would need a few days to make it all happen.

Waking up late in the morning, Nathan was surprised to find that Ariel was already gone from bed.

As he dressed again in fresh clothes, he found what was left of the tattered rags that were his clothes from the previous night and put the rest in his pack. Then he went off to see if Rory was still in Terrance's room.

There he found Ariel, and she was sitting and talking to Rory.

"I heard you told him everything last night," said Ariel as she looked up at Nathan.

"Yes I figure after what we both did it only made sense," Nathan said.

"Well I was going to explain as well, but you saved me the trouble. And I trust them so I don't mind, but Galen is going to have a cow if we tell him," said Ariel as she smiled at him.

"Who is Galen?" asked Rory suddenly.

"Galen is my mentor, teacher, and one of the seven Archmage's who sit on the council of Mages for the mages guild," said Nathan.

"Archmage?! You know an Archmage? They are really rare from what I hear! And your teacher is one and he's on the mage's council? Wow you are pretty connected aren't you?" asked Rory

"I like to think I'm just friendly" said Nathan smiling.

"So what do we do about Terrance?" asked Rory

"He should be safe for now. And all he needs is sleep to recover. But we need to find out about that woman. I was sure she was a Succubus, but her use of magic says otherwise. Then there is the fact of how easily she over powered me. That has never been done before," said Nathan as he was lost in thought.

"Really, no one has really ever overpowered you before?" asked Rory in surprise.

"No as the legendary Battlemage he's very powerful, so for her to do that so easily says that she's no lightweight herself," said Ariel frowning herself.

"It must be tied to the essences she steals. She must be fueling her magic and making it even more powerful that way. But then that would suggest that she has no upper limit! But how did she get like she is? I've never heard of a mage learning to do this. I don't even know if it's possible," said Nathan

"Do you think it was someone trying to do what you did to me and getting a different result?" asked Ariel.

"No because none of her abilities are enhanced. And you can't use magic. I mean maybe they tried it and went wrong somehow, but now she could conceivably become far more powerful than I am if that is in fact the case. That's an accident that everyone would try to create if true. But right now you're our only defense against her," said Nathan flatly.

This was the first time he felt so helpless. His magic and skills were how he defined himself and in the face of this opponent both were worthless.

"Well if Terrance is in no danger, then the first thing we need to do is ask around town and see if we can find a pattern," said Rory

"But let's not split up. I'd like to say that we always go around in two's, but that is no longer possible. And if Ariel is the only way we can combat her, then she needs to be with us at all times," said Nathan as he smiled at his wife.

She just smiled back, but she was happy to be such an important key part of his plan.

Ken Pierce was passing through the fields on his way home after visiting his parents and as he retuned back to the road he saw a close friend of his Thomas Young heading towards him down the road. Ken normally worked at the stables, but he was visiting his parents and took a shortcut from their home to save time on his way home.

But as he returned to the road and waved at Thomas, Thomas didn't even acknowledge him as he walked on.

Ken thought it was weird that Thomas seemed to stare right through him with a blank look as if he was out of it as Thomas stiffly continued walking down the road once he was past Ken.

Then as Ken watched Thomas turned up the walk into a strange house and went inside without knocking.

As Ken knew this wasn't Thomas house, and as he was very curious as to why he did this, he then saw another man, also who looked out of it, walk stiffly up and do the very same thing as he too headed into the house.

Curiosity got the best of him and he headed to the side of the house to a window and looked in. There he saw Thomas and the other man start to disrobe.

As he looked around the room it was bare except for only one thing in it, a very large bed.

And on that bed was an unbelievably attractive woman with very long brown hair who was naked and who looked incredible. There seemed to be a soft glow all around her.

He continued looking and could see she was already engaged in sex with three men at the same time and there were what had to be over twenty others standing perfectly still around the bed, without moving a single muscle, and they all seemed to be waiting their turn.

The men who were waiting stood and also appeared to stare expressionlessly into nothing. They didn't even seem to acknowledge what was going on, on the bed in front of them.

Rising early Kat was up and noticed that Seth was seated at the table with his back slightly to the rest of the room. She slowly approached but she could hear him softly talking to himself. She tried to wait but eventually she got curious. "I know Marie, but we're almost done here ... you don't think you'll go early do you? Oh, not really ... Dusty met his first ghoul yesterday ... he'll be ok, but he was out cold again ... I better run everyone will be up soon. I love you," said...

Riding into the small town, it was aptly named "Dresden's Last Chance" There wasn't much to see but a few homes and a few businesses, maybe twenty to thirty buildings in total. Of course there was also the tavern that might have a spare room or two, but it was obvious that the Inn was more there for getting a drink than anything else. The companions reached the town about mid day. Kat only wanted to stop overnight since they were so close and give the horses a break then push on. She...

Once breakfast was finished Ariel wandered the guild grounds once again. She was trying to learn where everything was, and she passed various areas once again including the blacksmith shop where Nathan worked as a blacksmith's assistant. When they first arrived they found that the guild already had a blacksmith, but like the other members he went on missions because he could make more money doing that than he could having the members pay him to fix their weapons. So there was a need for...

Dusty slowly opens his eyes and looks around and sees he's in a very nice room and Suzan is sleeping with her head down on the bed in a chair she's pulled up to the bed. It looks like she's been watching over him. As he groggily reaches out he softly touches her head, where he then starts to slowly stroke her hair. It seemed amazingly soft to him as he did. He always wondered how women always managed to keep their hair soft like that. "So she loves me huh? I guess that's why I'm more...

Before lunch had been served Dusty had already spoken with the King. Even though he tried hard to keep the crystal phones they created a secret from the public, the King while bragging about them, had shown his off to a few of the nobles and visiting dignitaries. That was enough to spark a huge interest in them. Suddenly it was seen as a favor to the crown to have a few people outfitted with them, and a few others tried to curry huge favors with him to get one. Dusty and his friends kept...

While Kat had waited that morning for the three of them to arrive quite a few men had tried to "chat her up" as they passed by her going either into the city or as they left. Even in her generally loose fitting travel garb they saw the gem that she was. Somehow she managed not only to talk to them in a friendly manner, but she also managed to get some useful information while not offending anyone or giving the impression that she was willing to go to bed with any of them. Even though she...

The four women entered the large city and quickly blended in with the rest of the inhabitants. Suzan was just a little unhappy Dusty wasn't with her though it had only been a little over a week since she left Dusty and headed out for the mission. Although she missed her husband, she was also really charged up to be here and was well ready to take on a new mission like this. It took them several days of travel by ship and a few more days of hard riding and just barely stopping for anything...

Amber came into the house and kicked off her boots. She then put her pack down beside the door, took off her twin swords, and then leaned those swords against the door next to her pack. Her parents would be around somewhere, and after she found something to eat she would go find them. She had dropped Logan off in town, as he wanted to visit, but she only wanted to go home and unwind. As she walked down the hallway she had the same thoughts she usually did when she passed through...

Dusty felt like he was submerged in warm water. It was strange because while he couldn't see, he could feel everything. The feeling made him feel like he was surrounded by nothing and yet at the same time by everything. He could feel shapes, colors, sounds, even smells. He could sense everyone around him and as strange as it sounded he could sense himself. It was like he was looking at himself but he wasn't looking at himself. As Dusty was trying to puzzle that out, he felt child like...

Dusty and Suzan reached the double doors that lead to the council chambers. They had passed a few offices that the council members and others made their own. Now they were at their destination. There was a single desk outside the council chambers, and at it sat a very striking and attractive red haired woman. She looked to conceivably be in her mid-thirties, but with mages that didn't mean anything. She was dressed in similar robes as the guard out front with the same sash over her...

As the five of them worked their way through the dungeon, they were surprised that they no longer found any opposition. There just didn't seem to be anything that approached them or tried to attack them. That bothered Dusty. "Well my dear it has been almost two weeks, I don't believe they are coming back before the time limit," said Queen Morigan as she looked over at Rachel while she stood apart from the other women. Rachel was sitting and trying to look at ease, but it was an effort with all the various other Lady's and ladies in waiting around. All the various forms of nobility were hanging around the audience chamber making light conversation about nothing and gossiping. As Rachel tried to look like she...

Battlemage Nonetheless Book 4 ResolveChapter 7

Dusty arrived with his friends at the kingdom of Stelmore. The first thing they did on entering was to head straight for the castle to talk with King Roland about the attacks. Reaching the city gates it was obvious that the city was on high alert. On trying to enter the capital city they had to get off of their horses at the gate and lead them into the city. The guards then separated them, and two guards checked them one at a time. One held a serviceable pike on them as the other one...

Battlemage Nonetheless Book 4 ResolveChapter 10

A bloody and very upset Suzan and Anita made their way back to the palace just as the Sun was cresting over the horizon. They had already made the stop by Tabitha's mother's house the night before to inform her of what happened. Needless to say it wasn't something they wanted to do, but knew that they had to and it was something they owed the only real victim to pay the ultimate price. Even though Suzan felt she should tell her, Anita insisted that because her death was her fault she...

Battlemage Book 7 the Sound of Sensual JusticeChapter 7

"ELLIOT!" screamed Kathryn as she then covered her mouth with both her hands. Surprisingly, Elliot again appeared to focus on the fact that her left hand was over the top of her right with the plan gold band shining in the light as she did. But as Kathryn looked into the doorway headed into the kitchen she saw the man she was going to marry looking at her with shock etched on his face as he stared at her. William was surprised to see him standing there once Kathryn called out his name...

Battlemage Book 7 the Sound of Sensual JusticeChapter 12

Much later that night found Kathryn sitting in the Inn, not all that far from the four travelers, as they spoke to one another about the different sights in the city. She couldn't believe her luck that she overheard where they were staying from the secretary. One of the things she could also do was make herself virtually invisible in a crowded area. Well that wasn't exactly true. What she did was mentally encourage others not to see her. That worked out well over the years where she...

Battlemage Book 7 the Sound of Sensual JusticeChapter 10

As Kathryn headed in through the doors of The Watered Duck she did her best to slowly approach William to talk to him. "Hi William, I've not seen you around for awhile. Not for months at least. How's it going," asked Kathryn in a friendly manner. She was trying to be as pleasant as she always was when they used to be friends. "Oh hey Kathryn how are you. I've not seen you around in a while either," said William smiling up at her. For some reason this afternoon his attraction to her...

Battlemage Book 7 the Sound of Sensual JusticeChapter 8

For the next two weeks Kathryn didn't go out. She didn't go anywhere and she wasn't capable of working in her parents store without breaking down within a few minutes of sitting behind the counter. The counter faced the window and she was always reminded each and every time she looked out of it how she and William signaled each other when he was in town. Her friends came to see her the day after the wedding didn't happen, but at first she refused to see them. Then gradually she agreed...

Terry Southard was just finishing his shift as a guard after midnight for the Baron and he needed to blow off some steam. He and his friend Tate Michaels has just been transferred to Baron Charles deNorma's manor from Ravenswind. The Baron called it his castle but it was really just a large summer home at best. Terry really didn't want to be here, but the Baron needed some men and the Grand Duke Henry deGual decided to send them to foster better relations and strengthen the Baron's...

Battlemage Book 7 the Sound of Sensual JusticeChapter 5

"Kathryn, so have you and Elliot finally set a date?" asked Marcie excitedly. "Yes we did! We decided on next month! Elliot said that he finally has saved up enough money to buy the house I wanted plus a few acres for us. I love him so! He will finally be able to quit that second job and just work the one he likes," said Kathryn smiling. "Boy he just spoils you rotten! Most men would have asked you to help them save," said Marcie with a touch of jealousy. "I know! But he said that...

Battlemage Book 8 Origins and Dark RevelationsChapter 6

3190 seasons previously before current times "Beth! Beth! Where are you? Are you here in the house?" called out Wolfgang as he started down the hallway. As he moved around the house, everything looked similar but somehow different. In spots there was dust and cobwebs, but not enough to make the house look abandoned. But no matter where he looked he didn't see Beth anywhere. Heading outside he noticed two young boys just outside his door. One was leaning with his back against the wall...

Battlemage Book 4 the Red DragonChapter 9

The meeting with Rayne's parents, Aric and Brianna, went really well Matt thought. Matt met her father Aric, and if he thought the boys were larger than life, he was shocked at the father. His presence seemed huge to him. But strangely, other than a silver forelock, Aric didn't look like he could possibly be a day over thirty at best to Matt. To Matt Aric seemed far too quiet, friendly, and gentle to be the famous Battlemage he had heard of. Didn't they only love death and destruction...

"So all the tests prove that Beth is now resistant to all forms of poison?" asked Anne-Marie as she put down one of the various reports that she had been looking over in front of her and leaned back in her chair. She now had the six of them in her office once again and she was looking them over. Once they returned to the guild, the first thing Ayden and a few of the mature Sisters did was to check out Beth. He was the best able to tell them what he did and the few White mage they had...

Battlemage Book 10 Darkness Under a Scarlet MoonChapter 8

Groaning Terrance rolled out of the wreckage of the bookcase he was lying in. There were a few sharp points and splinters he pulled free of his skin, but thankfully none were in his face or eyes. As he looked over at the ruined mess that was a side table he saw the light stirring of Rory. "Hey, are you ok?" asked Terrence tiredly "How can any one person have that much strength?" asked Rory as he finally opened his eyes and looked at Terrance. "The way he threw us I think he only...

"Are you ready? We don't have to do this if you really don't want to. We might be able to find another way. Or we could find someone else, or..." said Kat as she looked at Rory. Rory reached out and put his hand on her arm and gently held it. "Kathryn, we don't have a lot of time and it's not like it's our first time together, remember? Ariel is running loose and it's only a matter of time before she runs into a caravan or something else, and a lot of innocents become harmed...

Battlemage Book 1 Beginnings and DiscoveriesChapter 13

Aric worked hard while he was at the academy. And while it was grueling work, it was getting him where he needed to be. He wanted to finish fast to be back in Andrea's arms. He was ready to be married and with all that it entailed. The professors couldn't believe how fast he learned, and he seemed to be ready for any class he could take. The only exception was the class for Applied Black Magery, that class he refused to take. He didn't like the necromancy involved and flat out refused to...

"ARRRGGHHH!! What do we do now!" asked Andrea for about the fourth or fifth time since getting to Daven's office as she paced back and forth. Daven leaned back and watched her pace. Even though she was severely agitated, her pacing, and the waving of her arms in that dress, was doing wonders for her anatomy. No wonder he loved that dress on her and he thought again no wonder he had always wanted her. Once he got her unwound she was a tiger in the sack. He would really miss their time...

While Aric was making his way to see Aaron, Andrea and Daven were still shocked over Aric's announcement that he was through with them. To the best of their knowledge he never gave up on anyone. But for all intent and appearances he had on both of them! And to make it worse he was going to keep his word, they knew he would. Andrea still sat on the floor stunned. "Aric is done with me," she thought really worried. "Aric said he is done with me? That can't be! What am I going to do? I...

"Nana what was that?" asked a worried Gem. "I'm not sure. It felt like we hit something. But the ship isn't moving forward anymore and it's not sinking. But I do hear a lot of yelling, but I just don't know," said Brianna. Brianna and Gem were in a windowless room with the door bolted from the outside. But with their sparse clothing, or lack there of, they could clearly feel that it was now way colder than it was before. The reason for their confusion was that they felt the boat...

"What... ? What does he mean that Aric doesn't love me as much as he did Andrea? How could he say that he knows for sure that Aric only stayed with me because I was the only person he had sex with? Aric's not that type of person! "No, that couldn't be it. He's just trying to make me feel bad. Aric loves me more than he ever loved her, I know he does. I just know he does, " thought Brianna, but deep down she was starting to wonder if there was really any truth to that...

Battlemage Nonetheless Book 6 ApprenticeChapter 4

Galvin sat on the cliff side with his legs dangling as he sat overlooking the city. It was a very prosperous city that originally had been a town that was built against the side of a cliff so that it could only be raided from one direction, and all the defenses had been developed to protect from that direction. But over the years the town had grown, as well as changes in modern warfare. Now if someone wanted to give the city a good pasting they could do it in relative safety from where he...

Battlemage Nonetheless Book 1 DisplacementChapter 10

Once they came to the city they asked for directions and they headed for the address they were given. They found themselves in front of a very large museum with rod iron gates that were swung wide open. They entered and were shown into a very nice, but a very cluttered office. There were books stacked on every table. But at least the center desk was clear. As the secretary showed them in she smiled big at Dusty and offered him her hand as she showed them all into the office. And once he...

After making their way to the address in question they noticed that there was a light coming from what looked to be a cellar door. As they opened the door they saw there was a lantern lit by the door but the others close by it were out. But a few feet after those the rest were lit again. Marie said she was going first, and they followed her down a narrow passageway that seemed to go down for about two stories then leveled out. As they leveled out they realized that they were headed to a...

Dusty and the others made pretty good time over the last day and a half to the huge mountainous expanse in the desert. Dusty would never have expected this if he hadn't seen it with his own eyes. It didn't make sense, but he was still learning things. There was one point when Kat called them close and said they were being followed. Dusty leaned over his horse, using just one stirrup to support his weight, reached into an inside pocket, and then hung like that as he buried something close...

Dusty got up early the next morning and found that not only was DJ up, but he already finished some light stretching, completed a run around the house a few times, and was now seated at the kitchen table entertaining himself as he waited for everyone else to get up. Laughing to himself he found it interesting that the boy had similar habits as himself. "I see your up early, any reason for that?" asked Dusty as he got a cup of something out of the icebox and then leaned against the counter...
