We cleaned up the mess in the main cave and put all the drunks still in the cave back to their rooms. A few women came out sporting new necklaces showing off to the other women. I think I need more lion and saber tooth mementos as they seemed to be very popular with the ladies. The men honored, came by, and thanked me for honoring them with my gifts to their mates. I told them this was a one-time only gift and unless they granted permission it would only be a one-time deal. They agreed that once was enough honor for them. Nothing more was said about the matter by the men and me, now the women on the other hand had a leg up on all the other competition and was flaunting it, until I had Barbara put a stop to it; kind of a ‘nip it in the bud’ type of thing.
We had a real mess to clean up with the spilled food, spilled beer and puke, so I hooked up a hose and a couple extra lengths and started hosing down the tables and floor and sent it all outside to the hill leading to the meadow. I cleaned up the grills and rinsed them out as well. We still had some sauce left so I covered it and put it in the cooler for tomorrow night’s shindig with Captain Snart and the Alertitians. I thought I would go out tomorrow and see if I could find a small auroch or a small lion cub for the fresh red meat for Snart’s family. Maybe I could catch that pride of lions out again. I seem to remember a couple small cubs in their group.
I went to talk to Fred about a bunch of things on my mind. “Fred first, thanks for the beer and all the ingredients for my sauce, and for the grills. They were a big hit with the people.”
“Bob, I know they were a big hit, I rode some of their emotions mainly to see what the big fuss was about. I got a lot of emotions of the sauce really adding to the flavor of the meat. As you know I cannot taste or smell like you can, but from the reaction of your people, they really liked it. As for the other things your people deserved those things. They have worked very hard and had a very big scare that is now over. The difference in the emotional outlook out there now is much better since the celebration. Now you had more things on your mind.”
“Yes, can I talk to the gay gentlemen in the other camps? I mean have Caroline patch into their heads and I talk as a sky spirit to see if they would even consider coming to our camp to see if Hentor would be a suitable mate. But first I think I need to talk with Hentor to see if he prefers a male or female persuasion type.”
“Bob, when we spoke of this earlier, I looked into Hentor’s mind. He is looking for a female type, but not overtly so. Of the two I mentioned earlier only one would be acceptable to him. I have tried monitoring his dreams and only now that his brother is alright, has he dreamed of what he would someday hope to find. I had Caroline and Doctor Phil, Kathy, and George scan the other tribes about the globe. We have found several homosexual people. There are more women than men and there are more aggressively gay men than reserved types. But we have managed to find 5 men who would qualify for Hentor. One is a slender Neanderthal and the other four are Cro-Magnon men. Would you like to talk to them?”
“Yes I would, who is closest?
“A young man of nineteen by the name of Kennarf is closest, but a man named Grunthorp is closer to Caroline. Grunthorp is the Neanderthal and he is next closest. Then there is Sallurty, Nathenal, and Bornet. I will get Caroline to patch us into Kennarf’s mind. Go ahead Bob.”
“Kennarf, I am a sky spirit speaking to you in your mind. You are not crazy and I am not going to harm you. I know that you are different from other men. I know because I know of another like you that if your were willing I would like for your to meet. He is a nice young man like you. Do you wish for me to contact him so you could meet him in a location near him? Please think about this and I will contact you again.”
“Fred do you think we could set up a meeting with him in our welcome center, or would we need someplace else, like Grunto’s old winter cave.”
“Bob, I think the welcome center would be fine. We could have some furs placed there and we could provide him with food, or he could come up here to eat.”
“What about Hentor, should we give him a choice in this matter? I think so. Can you get a live feed of him in his location sent here to my computer?”
“Bob, you are right I think we should get him here so he can talk to the men too. I can place a picture into their minds of Hentor too.”
“Let’s do it. I will go get Hentor and bring him here, maybe his brother too as he may have some influence on him we can’t possibly achieve.” I went into the main cave and found Hentor weaving on a replacement drying rack for the smoker. His brother Hathor was with him but just observing. I called the boys over to an empty table. “Hentor, I know we had talked about this before, but I have some good news. We have found five other men like yourself that are seeking men like you.” I had to hold my hand up to stop his interruption. “Now we have a way for you to see and talk to the men. They will be able to see you in their heads. Now would you like to see them?”
“Bob, I told you before I have my brother that is all I want,” Hentor said.
“No it’s not.” Said Hathor, “I hear you crying in your sleep wanting another like you. I am getting better every day, soon I am going to want to find a mate too, but I will not until you find one first. What have you to loose, speaking to these men? I will be with you. Bob will be there, right?”
“Yes Hathor, I would never do this if I thought that your brother didn’t really want what everyone else wants, a mate to love, to be close to, to share your joys and your troubles with. That is why I am doing this to help both of you. Hentor you cannot roam this whole world looking for someone alone? Why not let a friend help. If you find one you want to know better, then I can bring them here to live in the welcome center with you or in this cave. But I can’t help you if you won’t let me.”
Hentor had tears in his eyes as he looked at me. “Why would you do this just for me? I am nothing special, I am just a girly boy, I don’t deserve this.”
Hathor grabbed his arm and shook his brother. “Who says you are not worthy, Brabden, she is dead; Menten, he is dead too. I say you are worthy, Bob says you are worthy of this chance. You took care of me since Brabden hurt me so bad I couldn’t think anymore. You even stood up to her several times and received beatings for me. Who could be more worthy than you, NO ONE! Yes Bob we will do this thing with you. Won’t we brother?”
We heard a weak, “Yes brother. But I am only doing this for you so you can have a good life without me.”
“We will see about that, now we go, right Bob?”
“Yes we go.” I led both boys into my office and introduced Fred to Hathor and Hentor. I had Hentor sit in my chair and his brother stood beside him. I stood on the other side. I said, Fred, “May we go to Kennarf, please.” Suddenly there was a young man sitting on a log in the open near his camp. “Kennarf have you decided if you want to talk to this man Hentor?”
“Yes I have Sky Spirit, I would like to see and talk with this man Hentor.” His eyes opened wide and he said, “Are you Hentor? The one sitting. I see two other men, who are they?”
“Kennarf, I am Hentor and to my right is my brother Hathor and to my left is our leader, Bob. I would like for you to come to our camp and stay a couple days, so we can get to know each other better; that is if you would like to.”
“Are you treated well there Hentor, I do not like to be treated badly. I am the only person like me here and it is bad.”
“I understand; my old camp was very much the same as yours, but here I am treated nicely, I have many friends and Bob is a very fair and good leader. You would be happy here even if you and I did not get along.” Hentor said
“Then how can I get there, what do I need to bring, when can I leave, how far is it to your camp?”
“Slow down Kennarf, this is Bob. What do you have at your hut that you really have to have?”
“I have some furs and my knife, both are old and have been thrown to me when someone no longer needs them, but that is it. Why?”
“Because I want you to close your eyes and count to fifty, can you do that?”
“Yes but why?”
“You will find out once you open your eyes after you count to 50, but do not open them before you reach fifty, OK?”
“Alright, I will start counting.”
“George, please move Kennarf to the welcome center. Now Hentor, Hathor we need to move too so close your eyes. George, please?”
I told Hentor and Hathor to open their eyes and as soon as they did, Kennarf appeared in front of us.
I introduced everyone and we all sat on a log in the center of the welcome center. The log we sat on was cypress and we had de-barked it and carved seats into it. It was about 3’ in diameter so the seats have somewhat of a back on them and arm rests. They are quite comfortable. I sat with them for a while and I excused myself and before I was 20 steps away, Hathor joined me. I said, “It looks like the first time is a charm. I had four others to choose from but I think we have something here.”
Hathor said, “I think you are right, my brother is very happy inside. I can feel him in my head and he is happy. Thank you Bob, we both owe you so much.”
“Hathor, seeing your brother this happy makes me happy too. I hope this works out.” I looked at my watch and could see it was getting towards lunch time, I asked Hathor if I should call them for lunch or let them be. He said let them be. If they are hungry they will come. I then thought of having a dinner bell like on the old farms of my youth. I would have to talk to Fred again, or maybe I could find something here to make a gong or pipe bell. I would have to look around the garage. When lunch was getting ready to be served I saw Hentor and Kennarf walking toward the cave.
