Hailey was relaxing on Phil’s lap, her head rested on his shoulder when Tiffany knocked and entered the room a second later.

“Uh, what do you two have planned for Spring Break,” Phil asked.
“I planned to go to the beach with Alexandra and Chelsea,” Hailey said.
“Oh, OK,” Phil said. “How about you, Tiff?”
“You know she prefers Tiffany, don’t you?” Hailey interrupted, perturbed that Phil didn’t seem to care that she might be going to the beach with two young women who used Hailey to pick up men for them.
“I don’t mind when he calls me that,” Tiffany said, blushing slightly. “Actually, I sort of like it. I will be Tiff with you guys and maybe Katelyn. I don’t correct her when she slips. It’s one of those things my family insisted upon. I just picked it up from them. I’m not going to be a bitch about things like that with you two.”
“If you have a way you’d like to be addressed, I’ll do my best to respond,” Phil said.
“Then I prefer to be addressed as High Priestess Aurora Stonebreaker of Ulmira!” Tiffany laughed. Hailey rolled her eyes but Phil glanced at the young woman on the lap of the young woman on his lap.
“From ‘Winter Wizard Wars?” Phil asked.
Tiffany blinked. She had told her friends that the name was her inner princess but it was really an online gaming profile.
“Uh,” Tiffany stammered.
“Is that a movie?” Hailey asked.
“A video game,” Phil said. “My character is Rupert Caledonia.”
“It is not!” Tiffany said. “That is cool.”
She turned her attention to Hailey.
“We’ve played a game together a few times,” she explained. “Phil’s character is a half-blood orc warrior. Mine is a human-elf sorceress. I’ve chatted with Phil a dozen times over the last couple of years and never knew.”
“Dorks,” Hailey said with a smile.
“Probably, but we have fun,” Phil answered. “Plus now I’ve got an in for Aurora’s guild.”
“As if,” Tiffany said, smiling. “Well, maybe if I can sit this way from time to time I will consider it. Oh, and back rubs on demand will be a requirement. Maybe 10 minutes of snuggle time with one of you a week – nothing sexy, just hugging and things like that. Put together a proposal and I’ll consider it.”
Phil dug his fingers into Tiffany’s rib and she giggled. It was Hailey who groaned.
“She’s got a bony ass!” Hailey grumbled.

“I’m not sure,” Tiffany said.
“Well, I wasn’t sure if you’d want to go home,” Phil admitted. “You’re welcome to come and stay with my family.”
“Hey, wait a second!” Hailey said. “What about me?”
“You said you were going to the beach,” Tiffany said, sticking her tongue out at Hailey.
“Those plans have changed,” Hailey groused. “Not that anyone would care, apparently.”
“Let’s start again,” Phil said. “Hailey, my beautiful, darling girlfriend, what do you plan to do for your Spring Break?”
“Ooh, I like that!” Tiffany said.
“I had plans but they fell through,” Hailey said. “Now I am at loose ends.”
“OK,” Phil said. “And you, Tiffany, my alluring, dear friend, do you have plans?”
“That’s a good one, too,” Hailey giggled.
“I do not have plans,” Tiffany said. “I would probably agree to be your maid if you could find a way to keep me from having to go home.”
“I believe I have a way,” Phil said. “You have an apartment in the city?” Hailey asked.
“I’d like to stay with your family,” Tiffany said at the same time.
“Wait!” Hailey said. “I want what she said. I want to stay with your family, too, if it’s OK. But I also didn’t know you had an apartment in the city.”
The invitation caused both young women to move off the bed. Tiffany was first, rolling over and grabbing a sheet of paper and pen. Hailey soon followed but at least she had to crawl across her boyfriend to get up – and she stopped midway to kiss him. He couldn’t have missed the look of gratitude in her eyes and he offered her a wink.
The duo started to chatter about everything they could do while hanging out near a city for 10 days but suddenly went quiet. Phil was pondering the interesting smells of the room and paying little attention to Hailey or Tiffany. He could detect Hailey’s perfume and the strawberry conditioner she used in her hair. Tiffany wore a different perfume, more flowery, he decided. Mostly he could detect the smells from the night before – a mixture of sweat and desire – on the bed clothing.
The sudden lack of noise in the room caused him to look over. Both young women were looking at him expectantly.
“I tuned you out, sorry,” Phil remarked with a smile. “Did you need something from me?”
Hailey looked at him with pursed lips for a moment before vaulting back onto her bed and straddling his waist with hers.
“I need a great many things from you,” she said. “I need your affection, your support, your friendship, and your desire.”

Tiffany blinked away a few tears when it hit her that he was entirely serious.
“Kiss him for me,” she ordered Hailey.

By the time Hailey let him come up for air, Tiffany had sat down on the bed next to them.
“We asked if it was OK if we invite Katelyn, too,” she told him.
Hailey had sat up but was still astride him. Tiffany was next to her.
“I don’t really know Katelyn,” he said. His parents had never had a problem with him bringing friends over – male or female. She had told him to invite Hailey if she had no plans and he knew she would probably want to adopt Tiffany by the time the week was over. “I know you both know her and like her but we’re talking about having her at my house for a week. I think I’d need to meet her and get a feeling for her personality before I agree to it. I hope you both understand. It’s not that I don’t trust your judgment...”
“But we were friends with Alexandra and Chelsea, too,” Tiffany finished with a nod and a laugh. “Yeah, I can see where you probably don’t want to be responsible for someone you’ve never met.”
“I can’t believe you don’t know her,” Hailey said. “I mean, I know you’ve had to have seen her. She’s hard to miss. She’s as tall as you are.”
“The African-American?” Phil asked.
“Oh, yeah, she’s black,” Hailey said. “Does that matter?”
“Not at all,” Phil cut in. “There were two girls I’d see with you on campus that I didn’t know. One was black and the other white. Can I assume the white girl with the light brown hair was Alexandra?”
“That’s her,” Hailey replied “I forgot that both of them weren’t at orientation. Katelyn lives in town so she didn’t have to go. She’s like you, I guess. She’s taken classes here for a year or so. Alexandra’s family was on vacation until the day after classes started.”
“Her afternoon class is almost over,” Tiffany pointed out. “We can wander over and introduce her.”
Hailey looked down at Phil. If she had a choice she would prefer to spend the rest of the afternoon making out with him. Still, she didn’t want to send Tiffany away and she hadn’t spent much time with Katelyn in the past week.
“Yeah, we could,” Hailey agreed. “Is that good with you, Phil? I mean, I don’t expect you to decide after meeting her for 10 minutes but at least you’ll be introduced so you can speak to one another on campus. We have two more weeks before break starts.”
“It’s fine,” Phil agreed. “My evening is free. I caught up on my studying last night.”
Five minutes later the three teenagers were walking up to the liberal arts building just as a tall, dark woman walked out. She saw Hailey and Tiffany and smiled in their direction. She walked over as soon as she ended a conversation with another student.
“I don’t have to guess who this guy is, do I?” she asked with a laugh. “Hi, I’m Katelyn Gorman. It’s nice to meet you, Phil.”
“You, too,” Phil replied, shaking the hand she’d offered. Katelyn was probably only an inch shorter than his 5-foot-11 but she carried it well. She didn’t stoop or hunch to hide her height. She was tall; she knew she was tall; and she didn’t care if you knew she was tall. He liked that fact about her instantly. “I’ve heard a lot about you from Hailey and Tiffany.”
