Later that evening, while Tom and his Mother were halfway through eating dinner, his Aunt Jane finally came through the front door. "That's very mature of you, Thomas!" His Mom praised. "I think that's a wonderful idea. Jane, what do you think?"
"Well, thank you, Tom." His Aunt Jane replied warmly. "That couch was a bit uncomfortable for me. But are you sure you'll be okay sleeping on it? You're taller than I am." She asked, concerned.
"Yeah, I'll be okay. I want you to have someplace better to sleep." Tom offered.
"That's very sweet of you, Tom." His Aunt Jane praised, as she kissed his cheek softly.
"You're welcome." Tom answered, blushing.
Tom's Mother, oblivious as always, seemed to completely miss the tenderness of the moment. She praised Tom for his maturity and then gave him her own kiss goodnight, before walking down the hall for bed. Tom and his Aunt Jane were then left alone in the dining room.
"I got worried when you didn't come back this morning." Tom whispered. "I got afraid that you might not have liked what we did earlier."
