After a few minutes of rehashing the last of the game, they all adjourned to the kitchen for a late-night snack. Tosha tried to leave, supposing that the family would want to be alone this close to bedtime, but a laughing Arlene grabbed one arm and Joyce the other. Leaving just now was not going to happen. Tosha wound up laughing more than she could remember as they all had ice cream.
Forty-five minutes later, Jeff walked Tosha to the back but stopped before they went on through the mudroom. “May I kiss you good night before we go outside where the security cameras can see us?”

After the kiss, Jeff walked a stunned Tosha on out to her car where she opened her door long enough to put the box containing the Kimber on the seat. “Yeah,” Jeff instantly returned. “I love them equally, and I don’t even have to think about it. Oh, each one has her own special story, but I can’t imagine losing anyone. I make certain to set aside some alone time for every wife, and they, somehow, seem to work together to see that everyone has some special time with me – time to do something together other than making love, but we do that too. I mean, not as part of a group. But ... I think they conspire to make sure that Diana and I have time to plan and have a little bonus time together – time for the Clan Queen to do whatever she wants with me. “We aren’t doing anything special, or if we are, my Clan Queen hasn’t informed me yet,” Jeff finished as both of them chuckled.

Jeff let out a contented sigh. “I wanted her the first time I saw her. She was drop-dead gorgeous – even at fourteen, and... there were other boys just as interested in her as I was. Some of them came from wealthy families. I had a part-time job, which limited my time to be with her, and they had plenty of time to pursue her. She almost kissed him, but stopped herself from moving at the last instant. “Breakfast would be perfect.”
“Wear casual. No telling what we’ll do. And ... if you can, please plan on staying the whole day.”
“We don’t have to do anything, Sir. I would be pleased just to be around everyone. We don’t have to do anything special, maybe play some games with your wives, or even shoot my Kimber some more. And thank you and your family for the very nice gift.”
“Do bring the Kimber,” he said as he opened the door for her and stood watching until she was out of sight. With a smile, he saluted the nearest camera and went back inside.
At Security Headquarters, Tosha stepped into the main operating room with its abundance of screens and other equipment. “Okay,” she said with a chuckle, “I stopped by so you could get it out of your systems.”
One of the female operators teased her with, “Oh, Mrs. Matthews, you’re out late tonight.” Then in a rush, “Has he asked you to marry him yet?”
When the laughter was mostly over, the other female said, “We thought for sure he was going to kiss you just before you got into your car.”
“He asked me to have breakfast with the family tomorrow and also spend the rest of the day with them.”
“When I’m off duty, we’re ... going to talk,” Emily said.
“No, we are not,” Tosha returned with a smile to cover her quick response. “That’s the reason I stopped by so you guys could get your razzing over with, but I will not discuss anything about the family that isn’t our general knowledge of them. I will not violate their privacy. See you guys later,” she said as she finger-waved before leaving to go to her quarters.

After a moment, one of the engineers opened the hatch, weapon in hand.
“Sir, I could see who was outside, but the Chief would have my ass if I opened this hatch without a weapon ready,” he said in apology.
“And, you would have caught hell from me, also,” the First assured him.
Nodding to the trailing food cart, “You brought food,” the sub said, his voice brightening. “The Chief is setting up the replicator to begin building the first part of the many we will need. You know where the replicator is, right?”
