They’re great for discovery.
There is another type of porn site out there, though, that is far less common than tubes or aggregators, yet just as useful for accomplishing a different goal. The porn library or archive site is great for the porn addict on the verge of becoming porn connoisseur. Such sites are awesome for learning everything there is to know about your favorite girls, films, studios, etc. Although the focus of these sites is not necessarily on viewing the porn in question, there needs to be a resource for gaining knowledge on the porn that we love, and porn libraries do exactly that (and more).

No Porn on a Porn Site?
Although Jav Library is doing so much right, no site is perfect. There are some definite drawbacks to the site. For example, I really wish that the site offered some porn. Although I completely understand that Jav Library is primarily an archiving, community, and review site, I still want to be able to watch porn if I’m on a porn site. Call me crazy. It’s cool that users have linked to places to stream many of the titles, sure, but I would rather not have to go to a third-party (and potentially risky) site to be able to see any porn.
Jav Library is also absolutely lousy with ads. I understand that they are providing a huge archival site and some awesome community features for free, but still. It is not impossible to offer a great service for free without advertising. Hell, I do it. It just takes a little bit of creativity is all. I would like to see Jav Library embrace alternative revenue streams (or at least calm down with the ads a little bit).
Lastly, although it works works well enough on mobile devices, I think that a site like this could really benefit from having an app. How great would it be to be able to quickly archive porn videos as you watch them or stumble upon them from your smart phone, without having to use your browser at all? An app only makes sense for a user-based library or archiving site whose main goal is making the lives of pornoholics more convenient.
All in all, for what it is, I think that Jav Library is a successful site. Some awesome community features to be exploited, a great way to keep track of and make sense of the millions of Japanese pornos out there to choose from, and an easy way to learn about new films or get an idea for how certain films have been critically received by likeminded people. I think it’s a great idea.
