Cassandra was finally 16. It didn't have much change on her life, but surprisingly that shining April morning she felt different. Everyday Cassandra was picked up by her friend Michelle. They had been the best of friends for 5 years and there time together was always filled with laughs. Though they got along so well they had completely bipolar personalities. Michelle enjoyed dressing in a more revealing manner. She wore lot of dark make up and Cassandra didn't wear any. She heard the horn and ran out to meet Michelle.

Michelle wished Cassie a happy birthday and handed over a box. Cassie opened it impatiently and began to laugh hysterically at what she saw. Through the laughter Cassie thanked Michelle and put it away.
After the gift giving Cassie and Michelle began to discuss the test that they had first period. They were both straight A high honor students and cared a lot for their grades. Neither of them were too worried however because it was an Exam on the Renaissance and Social Studies was both their best subjects.
After their test their teacher Mr. Polis announced what their 3rd marking period project would be. It was going to be a project in which there are teams of two. Since the Renaissance was a time of such creativity, the students were going to have to come up with something to create and they were going to have their own little Renaissance museum. It could be a painting, invention sketches, building model or even a writing piece. It sounded like an interesting enough project but then they got the bad news of he would be picking partners and their faces fell. The entire class groaned at the thought they could be paired with someone they absolutely despised. As the first few names were called Cassie got more and more upset, Michelle was paired with another one of their close friends and it seemed Cassie was going to have to be with someone she wasn’t all that friendly with.
“And Cassie you will be with…Oh! I think you and Matt will make an excellent pair, I am most looking forward to your project.”
Cassie wasn’t overly upset with his choice and his comment. Mr. Polis had faith in her skills and he paired her with one of the more creative and smarter boys in the class. Not only that but Matt was pretty much every girls dream guy within the honors circle. As an honor students they were quite separated from the rest of the grade but Matt had managed to be popular, an excellent athlete and smart all at once. He was practically considered a god.
Matt was pretty happy too. He had always thought Cassie was incredibly beautiful but had never done anything about because, along with incredibly beautiful she was incredibly shy. He thought maybe she would open up to him a little and it would be pretty cool spending time with her after school and on weekends. After Mr. Polis’s announcement of their partnership he looked over at Cassie and smiled at her, she gave him a dimply smile that he so adored, and then quickly turned. He could see her blushing and thought it was the absolute cutest thing.
After class Michelle bumped Cassie and started talking. “Lucky you, get to work with that total hottie. But I don’t know how its going to work out, you can barely look at him with out blushing, let alone talk to him. Oh by the way we are going out for your birthday tonight. Were going to go dancing and hopefully get you laid.” Then after Michelle finished laughing at her own joke she sighed and said “I shouldn’t even get my hopes up.” Cassie laughed and then made plans with Michelle to meet up to get ready for tonight. Cassie loved going dancing with Michelle. They always had the greatest time. Cassie loved how you could just dance for ours with tons of people. She especially loved the moments when she would find a particular guy and they would dance together for a little while. She loved the closeness and the fast moving, it felt really intimate and special.
The day went my pretty fast. It was full of “Happy Birthday” wishes and cool little gifts from her friends. At the end of the day she decided to walk home because it was so beautiful out. She had gotten of the main road and was now on a little street with little houses and lovely gardens. It was an extremely lovely day and the smell of spring filled her nose. A few minutes later a car pulled up next to her and the window rolled down. Cassie was a little startled but it was just Matt. Her fear turned instantly into little butterflies of excitement in her stomach.
“Hey do you need a ride?”
“Thanks for the offer but I have been looking forward to walking home all day. It’s really beautiful outside.”
“It really is nice out, I think I will join you for a few minutes, maybe we could set some dates for us to meet and work on our project.”
They walked in silence for a few minutes. Matt then initiated a discussion on their projects. “I think we should do a painting. You’re a good artist, so you could draw it out and we could paint it together, and then I could even make a wood frame for it.”
“That sounds perfect, we could make it really big, do you have any ideas for what we should paint? Too bad Renaissance painters weren’t too into painting landscapes, it is such a beautiful time of year, and we could have painted a scene by the lake.”
“Yea. Renaissance painters were more into beautiful people, especially beautiful women, I bet they would jump for a chance to paint someone like you.”
Cassie giggled and blushed. Matt had said that seriously hoping for the reaction he got from Cassie, her smile and blushing drove him crazy.
“We are getting pretty far away from your car, you should probably get back. Let’s set a date to get together though, to get started.”
“How about tomorrow?”
“Sure, we can meet at my house. I have tons of supplies there.”
“See you tomorrow.”
Cassie practically floated back home. She knew today was going to be good, but could never imagine how great it was going to be. When she got home she fell into bed and slept until Michelle came over.
“Ok I admit you look totally cute today, but you need to look sexy for tonight. So let’s go through your closet and find something.”
Michelle made Cassie try on a million outfits but the settled on black tight and ultra low rise capris with black silk details, with a tight midriff matching silk top. Michelle straightened Cassie hair, that morning it had been cutely flipped out, but straightening gave it an edgier look. Then Michelle applied some dark make up but not too much.
“Oh Cassie you look perfect, come on lets go get your little brother to take a picture of us!”
The club was crazy. As soon as Cassie walked in the music took over her body. She and Michelle met a bunch of her friends there and they all complimented her on how she looked and wished her happy birthday. The ones she hadn’t seen in school gave her a gift and then they hit the dance floor. At first they were all dancing as a group and then people began to pair off and such. Cassie danced with a few friends and then with a few strangers. After a little while she got thirsty so she found Michelle and they went and got some drinks.
