New Felicity: The Azulians
Life in Felicity had settled down and all were at ease with the presence of alien residents. It seemed those aliens knew everyone in town and had made love with a third of them. The aliens were preferred people.
Felicity had seen hundreds of aliens come and go and all had been treated as new best friends. The decision to place the spaceport there had been an inspired one.
Still alien races not in the Federation sometimes found themselves in the town. There was a customs office of sorts in the Space Port and a small scrutiny check was conducted on non-federation aliens.
Of course full scrutinies were made of non-federation aliens before they got on a ship so all Felicity Spaceport did was confirm they were passengers.
Two very tall females with blue skin and an upward extension to the front of their skull arrived at the spaceport and waited for someone else to arrive. They were dressed in diaphanous layers, they were gorgeous.
The problem surfaced when after the last ship had landed and the being they were waiting for had not arrived. No one knew their language and the Spaceport personnel were not able to convey to them that they needed to find a place to spend the night.
They seemed to sing to each other to communicate and seemed to find spoken languages harsh. They were not upset or worried however, they were prepared to wait for someone for however long it took.
Their plight made news on the visualizers and eBs, the Mur chef of the bay restaurant in Felicity, was heard to say,’Oh, Azulians. I will need to see their show.’
The police chief Jana heard her and asked if she could understand their language.
‘Yes, some. They sing their conversations and when they perform they sing in the language of the people they are performing for. I went to a concert they performed in Mur when I was a child.’
‘Did you understand what they just said?’
‘Yes, they said not to worry about them, their master is coming. They sang that in Mur. They may think this is a Mur planet, we do look somewhat alike.’
Jana talked to Jing Li and she allowed her to take eBs with her to the Spaceport.
eBs bowed to the women and sang that their master would not be in for at least fifty centons and invited them to come and eat.
The women bowed to eBs and confessed they did not have funds. She sang to them that she was a friend and no currency was needed.
They followed her to the restaurant. The kindred there bowed to them as they walked in. The humans saw that and bowed to them too. Soon they were enjoying a seaweed dinner and sipping tequila. That was the closest to the beverage that eBs felt they would enjoy.
The women were mesmerizing singers and they paid for their food and drink with songs.
Jana had called Lord Jim and he was suddenly there. The women understood immediately that he was the lord of the land. They bowed to him.
He asked eBs to tell them to follow him and he led them to the train and his compound. He brought eBs with them.
Once there he had her explain that their master would not be joining them. Their reaction puzzled him, they seemed confused and perhaps…happy?
eBs explained, ‘Azulians females are something like slaves, they have a master that controls their lives. If they don’t have one they are sold to the highest bidder.
Their musical talents last only twenty years then they stop singing and they breed. They are abandoned as soon as their daughters can sing.
They are still in their prime so they are confused about being sold, they hope their next master loves them better.’
‘Their master was arrested by the Federation and his women declared free. Will they understand that?’
‘No, they will not. They are pleasant beings but likely not very smart. They would not enjoy being free. I am still terrified I have to make decisions for myself even with my husband’s support.’
‘Tell them I am their new master and they will spend the night here.’
eBs did and they saw the women smile and sing their thanks to him. Jim thanked eBs and allowed her to go back to work then called Jing Li to thank her too.
The Azulian women thought they were there for sex and began to disrobe. Jim called Mizuki and explained to her about the communications problem that got immediately worse when the ladies began to caress both of them as they sang.
Sex with the Azulians was interesting and very pleasant and afterward Jim and Mizuki managed to get them to understand they needed to rest which disappointed both women but they all did eventually go to sleep.
Jim figured it had been well over a hundred centons since the Azulians had last rested.
The following day they invited the Peers to meet and ask for ideas as what to do with them. They watched the women go through their day and both women apparently saw the others as potential buyers and sang to them.
‘They are talented and they are gorgeous but they are as different as the Saurians. Had any of you heard of that race before yesterday?’ Mizuki asked their staff and visitors.
‘No, and I wonder how many other alien races there are that are not part of The Federation,’ Hu said.
‘They are show business people so Carly could handle them, put them in concert from Jana’s place.’ Natalia said.
‘I wonder if they can survive on their own. They seem to have the mind of three year olds eager to please. We may just need to wait for an answer to our inquiry before we can do anything,’ Mizuki said.
Marc said, ‘Are their handlers husbands? If not then they are free women here, we can not sell them anyway.’
‘eBs understands them?’ Claudia asked.
Mizuki answered, ‘Yes but not completely. We need to contact the other Mur and find out if they are better at that. Are all of them settled in on their new lives?’
‘No, the youngest has given up on being a merchant and the next youngest has given up on marriage. Lets get both of them here this morning,’ Lord Jim said.
The two Mur women were terrified to be summoned to the Lords house. They had not found a niche for themselves in society and assumed they would be sent back to Mur.
They were surprised to see the Azulians and shocked to be asked for their help in translating for them. Their near terror subsided and both began making friends with the ladies.
The Peer were lucky, both Mur not only understood the Azulians but the youngest had worked with a troupe and had been their costume lady.
They did give the Peer insight into the women and confirmed they they were childlike but intelligent. They learned languages quickly.
The Azulian women also liked sex so it would be best if they were entertained that way on a regular basis. They did need full time handlers.
The Azulians had to travel to other planets for concert income. The richest planets would not accept property as the status of the singers. As soon as the handler changed that to designation to performer the women assumed full status as a civilized being.
They singers soon realized that now could stay in the planet if they wished. Many have. The men stayed with them but their reputation had preceded them and were kept under close surveillance. Most went home and collected the money while their ladies sang.
Their handlers then found getting permission to see his singers in their new planet after they stopped singing was difficult for most, impossible for many. The few that managed to visit the singers then learned that any one born in the planet was a citizen of that planet with all the rights thereof.
If the handlers stayed and waited for their daughters to be of singing age he would only be able to collect a maximum of ten percent off the net earnings. Many males have taken a deep breath and stayed. Most have gone home cursing the Federation.
That faction of the
Azulian planet is quickly dying out. Their planet is now the only one without Azulian singers.
The youngest Mur said, ‘Their owners, the male Azulians, are like Mur men, they dominate the women but treat them a bit better. The songs they sing when mistreated are very sad and that is not good for business so they are pampered.
When the women’s daughters start singing they are abandoned. May we tell them they will not be abandoned when their time comes?’
Mizuki saw and heard the silent plea behind the request and answered, ‘On Earth no one is ever abandoned.’
The Mur women seemed to suddenly tremble and sob. It took a minute for them to compose themselves before repeating the promise to the Azulians in song.
They seemed stunned by the statement. As soon as they recovered the Azulians bowed deeply to all then hugged the Mur women.
Lord Jim asked the Mur, ‘Will you two take on the responsibility as their handlers?’
The Mur women seemed to think they had just won a jackpot. They saw that they could justify their lives. Their yes was enthusiastic and grateful.
‘Can you live together?’ was the next question from Jim.
‘We would be cramped but yes.’
‘You will not be cramped. There are houses in Felicity available. You are now the agents for the Azulians and working for Carly.
Make sure they understand they have just become stars and teach them how to behave. I will get Ruthie and Edie to help you. You are now fully employed,’ Lord Jim told them.
The Mur women bowed to him as they cried in joy. The Azulians stopped their happy song and paid attention to the proceedings.
‘Tell them we still own them and make sure they understand we want them to be happy. I will call Carly,’ Mizuki said.
The Azulians bowed to Lord Jim and and Lady Mizuki as they listened to the Mur women. They seemed to be as happy as the Mur women were.
The Mur and the Azulians moved to Felicity and joined the other artists of Felicity Music. The ladies fit well with others and got the sex they needed. The Mur women did too.
Their first podcast was beamed to all the planets as was their first concert in Penza. They became a sensation.
Later the Saurians and the Azulians met each other to their mutual astonishment. The Azulians sang their greetings and the Saurians sang theirs back. All in the place, Mr. Wu’s in Felicity, were stunned. Between them they made the best music any had ever heard.
The Saurians seldom spoke, they communicated non-verbally to each other and to most others with single syllable sounds. The people of Earth had been told they were amazing singers but had never heard them sing. After all introductions were completed a young Saurian began to sing a melody the Azulians knew and sang along with her. It was a short song, just barely a centon long but all were mesmerized.
The young Saurian had to spend the next few months reminding all the was a bimolecular scientist, not a singer.
Time passed and the Azulians were no longer a sensation when seen. All knew to sing to them when speaking. All knew they were very sexual creatures. The singers were happy.
A year later one Azulian woman was waiting patiently at the Cel Spaceport hoping for a new life.
Ladies Akari and Labiba immediately had her whisked to their island.
