He rested his chin on her head. ‘You don’t know that. They might love each other and this was just an unplanned baby.’
She shook her head, ‘I asked him if he loved her. He didn’t answer, he was just offended I could ask such a question.’ She paused, sighing. ‘It wouldn’t matter anyway, he wouldn’t allow his baby to be born without marrying the mother first. It would look bad.’
‘At the risk of what? Plenty of children are born to unmarried parents. Hell, it’d be better to be friends with the mother and raise a child together than to marry just to divorce later if you’re not in love.’ He pulled back then so he could look at her. ‘Although, if you are in love, a baby could just hurry things along.’
‘I hope he loves her. He doesn’t believe in divorce either. Again, that looks bad.’
‘Are you kidding?’
