I looked up from the hospital bed at the man standing in the door of my private room. A sob escaped my lips.
‘Jordan,’ was all I could get out.

‘What took you so long?’

‘I think that’s the best thing you can do for her right now,’ came a voice from the door. Jordan looked over his shoulder and saw Dr. McCarthy standing by the foot of the bed. She looked at us and smiled.
‘Cheyenne is fine, Jordan. So is your baby. Take them both home. Cheyenne I want you to get plenty of rest. Come back in two weeks time so I can look you over to see if you’re clear to go back to work.’ Dr. McCarthy handed Jordan my release forms.
‘Remember, take things easy. No stress and plenty of rest.’ She left and Jordan and I looked at one other.
‘Let’s go home,’ was all he said.
When we got home, Jordan immediately put me to bed. I didn’t want to go to sleep. I wanted Jordan to hold me and tell me nothing will ever take me from him again. I wanted him to tell me he loves me. I wanted to feel his skin next to mine.
