ISLAND HEATIt was paradise. A million stars burned across the night sky. The swollen moon was full and bright, competing with the torches that lit the path I was walking on. To my left, the dark ocean rumbled, waves rushing up the sand in a steady march. The warm breeze from the waterfront was redolent with the heady combination of sea salt and jasmine. In the distance I could still hear the muffled music from the bar at the north side of the resort, where I’d spent the last four hours...
