Saint City.
Once a bastion of virtue and civil order; it has long since fallen from grace. There is crime in its streets and corruption in its offices. Most of its people keep their heads down and try not to be swept up in the violence, but not everyone is willing to let their once glorious city slip into chaos.
Like most metropolises Saint City houses a small population of super humans. No one knows for certain how many live normal lives among their normal neighbors, but half a dozen have taken to costumed crime fighting. Between their masks and the sometimes dramatic physical transformations brought on by their powers the true identities of these heroes remains a mystery.
The public is divided on the topic of hero effectiveness. This is in no small part due to the divisiveness of media outlets like Virtue News. They only present the facts they like, report their own wild speculations as truth and try to spin rumor into something the public will accept as reality. They're part of the reason journalism is considered to be dead. But just because journalism is dead doesn't mean there are no true journalists left.
5:00 am; Friday.
A blaring alarm woke Hannah Hancock from her slumber. With a slap and a grunt she had silenced the clock and risen from her bed. The young woman shuffled to her bathroom bleary eyed, bed haired and still half asleep.
First she hissed and recoiled from the bright white lights above her mirror; an act that quickly broke down to a laugh and brief giggle. With a bit of silliness out of her system she then leaned in to inspect herself. There was a bit of redness in her blue eyes but it was nothing that would be noticeable on camera and her skin was still clear, no blemishes to be seen. Satisfied with her face, Hannah stood back to get a better look at her body.
She was toned without being muscular, it was a body shaped by yoga and a lot of cardio. A black tank top and grey thong covered her modest bosom and bubble butt. The young woman turned her torso to the side and to better see her own profile. Her hands pinched at her belly in search of fat. Despite her athletic form she thought she had gained a bit of weight. With a frown the she turned back to face the mirror head on.
Her auburn hair hung a fair distance past her shoulders. She thought once again of having it cut, but the length gave her more styles to work with. With a smirk she took her hair in her finger tips and pulled it down to her chest.
