Our main character is Kirsten. She is doing a gap year after High School, and is working full time at a daycare. The daycare is located at the edge of a suburb, near a forest. It is a very small business, run only by her employer and her. Her employer is a 30 year old lady called Sarah, who Kirsten has become a good friend of. On a normal day there are about 10-14 kids in the daycare, but this story is set in a vacation period where there would only be 2-5 kids on average.

After a few rough months Kirsten needed some time off, so her employer, Sarah, offered her a week vacation. However this was no ordinary vacation, but a week as a guest of the daycare, rather than an employee. Sarah said she could really feel what made Kirsten so stressed through the last months and wanted to learn her how to be a little more "carefree". Kirsten agreed, and together they planned it in a week where Kirsten's parents would be out of town for a few days.
