I couldn’t believe it! My husband and I just hit the lottery! We hit big time -- $123 million dollars – all to ourselves. We didn’t have to split it at all. It took a few days for the shock to set in and before claiming the prize, we saw our accountants and our attorneys. My husband and I are in our mid-forties, been married for about 16 years, have no children and a great sex life – even to this day. One of the reasons is we keep it interesting. We are both professionals. I am an electrical engineer who specializes in security systems for a large computer company and he is an investment broker for large investment funds such as pensions, etc. We work hard and when time permits, we play hard. Money has never been a real problem but then again, we have never felt like we had enough of it to relax either. Now we do! So what do we want to do?
After some discussions with our professionals, we have a business idea that we think might work – a sexy one at that. We start scheming and got to work on an idea. Today we are delivering our first guests! We have bought an island in the Caribbean so the well-to-do can play their version of Gilligan’s Island or Blue Lagoon, or whatever island adventure flips their lids.
It works this way. The island is relative small. It has about 5 miles of white sand beach around the perimeter, a small mountain that has lush forest with wonderful vegetation, including bananas, mangos, coconuts, and other tropical fruits. The mountain has the usual stream and waterfall, which we had to coerce a little to be exactly what we wanted. The waterfall has a wonderful flat rock behind the falls which is just perfect for making love after a dip in the cool fresh water. There is a nice larger rock at the edge of the pool which looks towards the falls, and an easy trail leading from the beach to the falls in the base of the small mountain. On top of the mountain is a lush field of tropical flowers – also coerced a little, beautiful view of the beach in 360 degrees and plenty of places to make love. The north side trail is very steep, the east face is sheer rock, perfect for climbing and the south and west trails are easy winding walks with beautiful vistas. It is the south one that leads to the falls.
On the west beach is the shelter. There is one large shelter, built with bamboo, ironwood, and thatch. There is a large covered porch, with wicker furniture, hammocks, and tables, which leads almost seamlessly to a spacious inside living area with hammock chairs, wicker couches, chairs, and tables. There is a door but usually there is just mosquito netting draping the doorway. The kitchen has a large ironwood table, big enough to feed 8, but that is not its intent. There are comfortable chairs at the table, a bar, and barstools. Just across the bar is kitchen. It has a full refrigerator with an icemaker in the door, a propane gas stove and oven, microwave, and of course, sink. No dishwasher, sorry. The bathroom has a Jacuzzi tub, full body shower, large vanity, bidet, and commode. The bath is complete done in white and is very striking. Across the small hall from the bedroom is an office. In the office is a radio which can be used for emergencies and is monitored 24 hours a day, a weather band radio for continual weather updates, and a full stereo system which can be played throughout the area, including outdoor speakers and has a remote that can be used from everywhere you can hear the music. There is also a large desk and an office chair.
The bedroom is beautiful. A large four poster bed with white mosquito netting which is draped from the canopy frame, white chaise, gold easy chair and ottoman, ironwood nightstands, dressers, and gold heavy drapes with white sheers allows whatever type of lighting desired. Oil lamp sconces on the walls provide mood lighting as well as one electrical lamp on each bed side. Each room has a large ceiling fan. There are only two unused electrical outlets in the entire place, one in the bathroom and one in the kitchen for small appliance such as can openers, blenders, etc. The lighting throughout is primarily oil lamps, which is bright enough to read by if necessary. There is a fire place in living room in case it gets damp. Every room has a window or windows which are open with mosquito netting draping the windows but hardened wooden windows can be latched up in case of stormy weather.
A diesel run generator, propane tank, a large chest freezer, and maintenance equipment are housed in and around a shed that is over 250 feet away from the shelter so no noise can be heard from the generator. There is enough diesel in the tank to provide electricity for the refrigerator, fans, radio, and stereo to run 100% of the time. Other electrical appliances can only be run for no more than 1 hour a day without running out of electricity before a week is out. Fire wood, tools for a beach fire, rakes and shovels for other adventures, ropes, a small diesel power jitney cart are also stored in this shed. A canoe, rafts, buoys, and other water equipment are there as well.
We have marketed to the upper class markets of New York City, Miami, Washington DC, Boston, and Philadelphia. We are not cheap. It cost $25,000 for 6 days in this island paradise. When a reservation is taken, it must be paid for completely before the reservation is complete. When it is complete, then we email them a menu of choices. It requests their preference on linen types, silk, satin, 1000 count percale, and provides them with color choices as well. Right now we have black, white, red, and gold linens and towels. We may add more colors later.
In addition, their food preferences are identified. We have a long list of choices for the couple to make. There are no additional charges for any food or liquor. Tell us what you want, it will be there. The microwave is a godsend for people who do not want to cook as there is a chest freezer than can be stashed with food that is ready to eat after warming. We always provide some staples and a little variety in the freezer so if someone changes their mind about what they are hungry for, there is variety there. Some people have asked if we can provide a chef for the week, and that is an additional service we have thought about. It would mean putting in another shelter for staff and having the island inhabited by more than just them. We will have to see. We also ask them about their activity preferences. Do they want to rock climb, fish, or other specialty activity? And by specialty activities we also mean sexual activities; do they need handcuffs, candles, bubble bath, small ropes, bondage equipment, etc. We have the ability to deliver whatever their hearts desire. Music choices are also questioned and a wide variety is always on hand. The only thing the couple must do is bring themselves, their toiletries, and their clothes, if they want any. Well, we do require them to wear clothes in the airport, so they need at least one outfit. The rest is up to them.
On a Saturday morning, the reserving couple meets us at 9:00 am in Miami’s General airport. We take off from there and have about a 1-1/2 hour flight to the island. The day before, when we picked up the previous couple, a cleaning crew and maintenance crew was dropped off and everything was made ready for the new arriving couple. At 6:00 am on Saturday morning, a delivery plane landed dropping the couple’s food, linens, fuel, and any other requests.
What’s in this for us? Well, besides making money, we hope, (We already have the first 20 weeks reserved.), did I forget to tell you that we have installed wireless hidden video cameras everywhere. There are over 100 motion detecting cameras on the island. We can watch real time, or we can nab the recording off the 5 200-gigabyte hard disks when they leave. They are just for personal enjoyment and boy do we expect to enjoy!
