"No," Tomas answered. "I've sent him most of the pictures I took of you and him when were in Kenya, and I sent him confirmation that you were definitely pregnant. But, I've heard nothing in reply."

She was referring to the fact that Omar was 'busy' being the husband of two other women back in Zambia (Omar was Muslim), and the father of nine other c***dren between them! "I do," came here simple, but honest reply. She studied her husbands face in the reflection of the large mirror, and her answer didn't seem to have upset him. "Does that bother you, Tomas?"
"No," he replied instantly. "Not at all. I was just wondering."
Mara turned around and put her arms around her husband and drew him closer and kissed him, gently, but with sincerity, and not out of some sense of wifely obligation, or guilt.
Tomas knelt down on the floor in front of Mara and kissed her pregnant belly, more than once, with a tenderness that was truly moving, and very obviously sincere. Seeing this made Mara happy.
