She went up the stairs, and took a long, hot shower. She sat on the towel on the edge of the bed, then turned to lay full length on it. Her heart was pounding. She rose from the bed and opened the drawer on the nightstand pulling out a small leather pouch, and held it to her bare chest. "OH GREAT SPIRIT. Walk with me this day. Tell me if my heart is true. Guide me with your wisdom to chose the right path. Let me not be led down the path of my destruction. HEAR ME. PLEASE HEAR ME!!!" She hung the bag around her neck. It contained a buckeye, a piece of a meteorite, and an eagle feather, along with a small turquoise, and a red, shiny stone. It was the medicine bag she had had since she was a baby. It had been sung over by the last fully recognized Medicine man that she knew of. Grandad had given it to her the day she was born. It had seen him through 3 wars, and many years until she was born. Bruce had one that Grandpa had given him. Their sister had died at birth, and was buried with another. She would have been 2 years older than Essie. They still spoke of her, often, knowing she would be welcome in the Happy Hunting Grounds.
