JUST WHISTLE! YA KNOW. LIKE THIS!!!" Carol pursed her lips, and let out a long wolf whistle. "WHEEEEEET WHEEEEEEW! We'll come a runnin!" She introduce each of them. "We're your own personal Welcome Wagon. If'n ya need or want ANYTHING, jus' TELL us. We're happy ta oblige!"
If someone had came up and stuck them in the ass with a pitchfork, they wouldn't have noticed. They were watching their own "Magnificent 7." Tod saw that only one set of doors was open, and opened the others, pulling out the freight bill. He looked it over and stuck it into his shirt pocket to put on file when they finished. He spotted the pallets he wanted first and shoved the forks underneath the pallet, taking it inside and putting it where he could make his count. He soon had the first 6 pallets out and inside. The truckers were still up front, admiring the scenery. One of the drivers and Bruce were acquainted. They came back as Tod was lifting the fourth pallet out. Tod pointed to the pallet he wanted next, and Bruce climbed in to hook the chain to it. Tod stacked the pallets according to what was on them, and they were finished in just under an hour. Bruce climbed down and went to get a push broom for the driver to sweep the inside of his trailer. He finished, and the other driver did the same. He handed down the broom, thanking Bruce and jumped out.
The ladies were near. Mist had taken a shine to the lead driver, and had let him know that she was available for some fun, if he wanted. He look her hand and disappeared into the tractor, lifting her up to the sill of the open door, and climbing in after her. The other driver was just as interested in Sam. The Mother and Daughter looked more like sisters than parent and c***d. They followed suit. Carol was giggling. "First time I been aced out in my life. Can't blame 'em, though. They know good pussy when they see it."
Tod went to each pallet, making his count. They had brought an extra bag or 2, in case some broke open and spilled. None had, but the drivers would be told when they finished with the ladies. Tod went ahead and stacked the pallets in the places he wanted them. It took almost another hour to get this done, and he rolled the chain and hook, placing them in the box on the side of the floorboard. He put the tractor back in the shed. This load would take care of them for almost 3 months. Next time they would double the order to carry them through the winter.
Tod heard someone talking, and looked toward the front of the truck. Sam was climbing out, and Carol was climbing IN. The other truck door opened, and Misti climbed out, and ESSIE climbed in. Tod shook his head, and told Bruce what he had seen. Bruce smiled and said, "Hope they been takin' vitamins." They went into the barn and Tod put the bills in a box, and poured each of them a cup of coffee. They sat down to wait for the two drivers to come in. Tod set 2 more cups out for them to use.
Tod, ever curious about the people had grown fond of, sat with his feet up on the desk, leaned back in the chair, taking a taste of the coffee. "So. How'd ya get intersted in computers?" Bruce was sitting on the other side of the desk, in the same comfortable repose. "Well, I never seen one 'till I got ta Junior High. We had Intro classes, and th' idea o' havin' th' whole world under ya' fingertips seemed ta be a wonder ta' me. The more time I spent with 'em, the more I wanted to find out about 'em. I made the teachers near crazy with all the questions I come up with. They answered the best they could, an' tole me where ta find out th' others. We lived about 6 or 7 miles from town, so I couldn't get ta th' library as much as I wanted, so I saved my money, an' bought a second hand set up for myself. It twernt much, but it did its job. I had ta hook it ta th' telephone line, an' when I used it, nobody could use th' telephone. People griped about tryin' ta call us, and gettin' a busy signal all the time, sa Pop put in another phone line fer me. I went ape-shit crazy, then. Pop threatened ta skin me alive fer spendin' sa much time "bangin the keyboard," as he called it."
"I showed him how HE could use it sa easy ta find stuff out, an' he got ta see how much good it was, an almost ever' day he would come an' tell me ta look at thing fer 'im. He, till then, hadn't been too up on usin' it, but then he sorta got used ta havin' things he needed, books, laws, an' regs, that he an Mom talked about it. Grandpa and Grandma got in on it, and the upshot was, that, HE ordered a whole new set o' stuff. CPU, monitor, 3-way printer, an' speakers, and got us a satellite hook up, with broadband, and I had a conniption, with all that stuff. Fer a while, I even stopped huntin and fishin'. We sat down an' talked about it fer a LONG time. My grades had fallen 'cause I spent so much time on "the machine" as Mom called it. I had ta promise ta get my grades up, or they would stop me from usin' it. I had ta get my chores done, and promise that I would get out more, huntin' an' fishin', and pay more attention ta th' family, too. Dad an me found that ole car, an he gave it ta me ta restore. Tole me that if I did a good job, and made it real good, I could drive it, an later, if I took a hankerin' ta, I could sell it ta get the money fer college. It was a 1948 Tucker. We found th' stuff ta get it, as Grandpa tole me, like new. I drove it fer awhile, an, we went ta Shreveport fer sumpthin' an a guy asked if I would sell it. Dad an Grandpa was there with me, and asked how much he would give fer it. The guy looked it over, opened th' hood an' looked at the motor, and drove it around th' parkin' lot, an' offered me an ungodly bit o' money. Pop an Grandpa both looked at me an nodded their heads. I tole 'im ta meet me there the next day, an I would sell it to 'im. He bought it th' next day fer $125 thousand. Th' only thing NOT like original was th' paint color. I couldn't find the original shade o' green, so it was a little darker than original. The guy tole us that it was just like the first one he had. He had been wantin another one fer th' longest. That fast, I had money ta go ta college, pay ma room an board, an most o' th' stuff I would need."
"Killed two birds wit' one stone. I could buy everthin I needed ta get my education, and live good while I was there. My counselor tole me which schools ta apply to, and promised my grades were good ta go. I went fer th' first 3 years, and found out I needed 4 more classes ta finish gettin my Master's Degree, an that's when I came here. Ain't looked back since. Met Robbi one day at work, and liked th' hell outta her. Pretty an nice at th' same time. I thought she was maybe what I been lookin' fer. Both of us found someone else, though. She found Royce, an' I foun' Annie. Both o' us knew it was th' REAL thing. Now! Here we are. Both havin' th' times o' our lives, an me findin' all o' YOU ta boot. I can't remember bein sa happy. The folks are just as happy with ya as I am. I ain't never seen th' Grandparents so happy. Dad's been talkin' a bit about retirin' an maybe movin up here. We'll see what happens, but very little could surprise me."
Tod laughed at the story. "The folks were just about the same. Dad came here when Carol had her baby, and got a look at the area. Swore he died an saw a piece o' Heaven. He took Mom, Mommy, an Betty around ta look, and they liked it, too. We found out the land next to Billy and Cathy was on the block, an Sharon's husband was a realtor, and found out it was priced reasonable. He fronted the money to buy it, and we sold our place in Texas. Both sets of parents liked the idea of havin' the whole family in spittin' range of each other. They had been dreamin' of havin all of us together, again, an' here WE are. Billy did some work for Pete. A mare was havin trouble with th foals, and met th' Kellys. We liked each other right off, an' got even closer. They're salt o' th' Earth type people, as YOU'RE findin' out. They all took ta' each other, like ducks ta water, an' WE ain't looked back, either. None of us has been happier.
Sue and Rick, you and Annie, and Royce and Robbi ALL fell in love, an' are talking marriage, now. Pete was gettin misty about it the other night. He's happy as a clam. Milt and Patti are talkin' about movin' back, too. MIlt, and Patti's husband, Jeff, have jobs line up in town, so it's lookin' like jus' a matter o' time till it happens. We're meetin' new folks almost ever' day, through the Kellys, an are havin' a high ole time. The Deputy Sheriff an' his wife are part o' the Kelly's folks, and are as nice as any of 'em. She ready ta have their first real soon. Cathy is meeting new people at the hospital near as much. I ain't met but a few of 'em, but most seem ta be good people, too."
The two men held their cups up in salute. "To MORE good times!" Bruce declared. Tod, smiling, answered, "HEAR HEAR!!!"
The door opened, and a pair of bedraggled truck drivers stepped in. "How do ya' get any work done around here? All of these beautiful, sexy, and willing women running around, naked as jaybirds. This place beats anything I EVER saw. We both been fed, fucked, and sucked till we're blue in the face. I don't know if I'll be able ta drive home, unless I stop for a nap on the way. I'm supposed to pick up another load, and take it to New Mexico. I'll be lucky to make it to Amarillo the way I am, NOW! Gary, here, is scheduled to take a load to East Tennessee, but he'll be lucky to make it to Ft. Smith. We both passed bushed a long time ago. We're BOTH exhausted." Tod and Bruce were both having trouble, not falling out of their chairs, laughing at the driver. "Here ya go. A hot cup of MY coffee will make ya feel MUCH better." Tod poured both cups nearly full. He didn't want them to get scalded in their present state. They both accepted the cups, with a grateful nod of their heads, and Tod motioned them toward the sofa. They both sat down with long sighs, taking a taste of the hot brew. "MAN!!! That's good STUFF!!! Hot as the hinges, black as coal, and strong enough to come if ya call it. Best cup I've had in a LONG time." Tod reached over and opened a drawer in the desk, withdrawing a half-pint bottle of rum. "Here's somethin' ta sweeten it, if ya want." Both drivers thanked him, but declined. "Not when we're drivin'. Appreciate th' offer, though, THANKS. Didja find all your order in good shape?" Tod told him that everything was good, and he had found a few extra bags, to boot. Gary told him, "Those are make ups. Just in case a bag or two gets damaged in moving.. Keep 'em." Tod thanked them both, and offered them a refill, which both accepted. "Enough of THIS stuff and we'll run to our destinations, carryin' the loads on our backs."
They all heard the banter, and cheerful sounds of the ladies returning. The door opened and they all came in, still naked. "OH, LOOK, GIRLS!!! THEY'RE WAITIN FOR US!!! " Sharon observed. WHO"S NEXT IN THE BARREL?" They came in and, after getting cold bottles of water, arrayed themselves around the room. Betty looked over at Tod. We already unsaddled, watered, and curried the horses. They're back out in the pasture, grazin', now. Didja know that Sam's nearly as good with 'em as Carol an' me. She has the touch, too. Haymaker found a new girlfriend. He took to HER faster than he took to ME. Let 'er ride 'im bareback. All I did was rig 'er a hackamore, an' she was off. Shoulda named her "Dale," for the way she rides."
A little more conversation, and another cup of coffee each, and the drivers had to leave. The women all kissed both of them, and promised a repeat performance the next time they came. They walked out to see them off, and they were gone, carrying many happy memories with them.
It wasn't far to the swimming pond, and they decided to go for a dip. It was warm and the water would be nice. Tod and Bruce straightened up some, and took Bruce's pickup to the house, and got some towels, and a cooler of cold drinks, and ice, and took to them. They went to look at the spot for the houses.
Dave was standing next to an excavator, talking to the foreman. They waited until the foreman went over to a group of men to relay instructions. Dave came over to them. "Things are movin' right along. We'll be ready ta pour in a day or so. The rebar is tied, and has to be put in place, and the road is acceptable for now. Well put down a hard pan on top of what's there, and it'll be ready, too. The entry grade is good enough to get the few pieces of machinery inside without any problem. All WE got to do, is keep the girls in the dark for a little while longer. Sue and Rick was here a little bit, ago. They went over to where Sue had her accident. They found footprints in the dried mud. They were nearly 17 inches long, and just short o' 8 inches across. Sue looked up an' saw somethin in the bushes. She went up an' found several long strands o' reddish brown hair hung in the briars. She took some tweezers an put 'em in a plastic baggie, to take to Bruce's Granny to look at. She called Bennie, too, an' tole 'im what she found. He came and took pictures o' th' tracks, and poured some stuff in 'em to make a cast. He knows some people that want ta find out more. They claim ta be so-called "experts. We'll see."
They looked around a little, watching the men clean out the ditch for the foundation of the wall, and went back over to the swimmin' hole. The women were sitting around in the grass, letting themselves dry in the sun, and talking.
They heard another car approaching. Liz was in her Suburban, with Clara, Irene, Lorene, Sue, Annie, and Nola, as well as all the c***dren, in tow. They pulled down almost to the others, parking next to Bruce's pickup. They got out, and Liz and Clara went to the back, opening the hatch. They heard another roar, and looked up to see Doris coming on the 4 wheeler. She had on a pair of shorts, and a halter. She sk**ded to a halt, and was wearing a BIG smile. "WHEEEEE!!! I fergot how much fun it is ta git on this thing. I'm gonna start doin' it more. Almost as much fun as fuckin." She got off and went to the back of the 'Burban. There were 2 baskets inside, and a couple of groundsheets. They laid the groundsheets next to each other, and took out a stack of paper plates, a baggie full of plasticware, and bowls of food. The other basket was mostly food. They looked over at the youngsters. "Gail said ta tell ya she couldn't come. Michael tore her a new ass last night, and she's restin. Mary had a dental appointment, and said she'll be here in a little bitty, too. We thought ya might be hungry. Ya didn't eat much breakfast this mornin' so we thought ya might need somethin to carry ya through ta supper. The men are over at the meeting ground, gettin stuff set for tonight. Ever'bodies supposed ta be here around 7 this evening."
Sam and Leo were warned NOT to go too deep, and allowed to go in the water, wearing their life vests. The other babies were set in the shade in their carriers. The first sounds of playful squeeling came from the pond. Sam was towing Leo around in the water, and she was loving it. It was barely over his waist. "Not too deep, Honey." Betty called. He answered, "OKAY, MOMMY!!"
Robbi and Michael were looking at a place to set up shop for their computer store. It was their fourth place to look at. It was a storefront, just off one of the main drags. They had driven past it a few times, stopping to look in the front windows. It had plenty of floor space, and several banks of shelves on 2 walls. A counter about halfway to the rear wall made it the best location they had found thus far. They were looking inside, with the broker, this morning. They sat, telling the others of their time with the truckers this morning. Liz threw her head back, enjoying the telling. "Almost like old times, it sounds like. Makes me wish I had gone along." Sharon leaned over and kissed her Mom. "Good thing ya DIDN'T. We couldn't have stood the competition."
They heard another motor approaching. It was Mike's pickup. Mike and Jerry were in the front, and Robbi and Mary were in the back. Mary looked less than happy. "They got out, Mike calling "HI, ALL!!! Got room for more bums, out here?" Mary was looking like she was in pain. "Doc had ta pull a Wisdom tooth, she explained. He shot me up with pain killer , and it STILL hurt like hell. I feel like I got kicked by a mule."
The first to ask was Sharon. "WELL? How'd it look?" Mike flashed an "okay" sign. "It's just the thing. We went over it with a fine tooth comb, and there's a great workbench in the back, plenty of floor space and priced reasonable, too. Only $1250 a month. I thought it sounded high, but I called William, and he had a fit. He said that was CHEAP! ESPECIALLY in THAT location. He told us to ask for a 2 year lease, with options for more, so we did. The broker is getting the contract together, and will have it ready for signing day after tomorrow. William is gonna go with us to look at the lease, first, and then we can sign. You're looking at CTK Computers, LLC., now. We think we can be in operation in about 3 months. Robbi has another question, though." She looked over at Bruce. "Would it break your heart if we asked you to come in with us? We need another strong back, and weak mind. William and Mike have all the brains, so far, and I need another strong back to give me a hand. I had trouble finding the little girl's room. I got lost when I saw a door, and it said "LADIES." We'll need ta find someone ta take care o' the front counter, too." Annie took the hint. "I can help in between classes, and after I graduate. A Business Admin degree will help us, too. Maybe I can figure out my ass from my elbow with it. I've only got two or three more classes till I graduate. I'll be finished by Christmas, or soon after." Robbi clapped her hands. "Out fucking standing!!! We got a full house, and a good lookin chick for out front! We're in business. If half o' th' guys that come in ta look at Annie's legs and ass, buy somethin', we'll be rollin' in dough."
The final announcement came a second later. Carol looked over at the rest of them. "Guess that'll be about right. I'll be able ta help a little. I won't be but in my eighth month. I snuck over to Doc. Immelmamm's office the other day. Got a good fuckin', an' some news. Sarah's gonna be a big sister, 'bout January, or February. I ain't tole Davey, yet. I was waitin for tonight."
It was instant pandemonium.
