They also told me that their grandson being a new groom has to visit all houses including our house for oil bath and dinner. I didn’t know what to tell and I remained silent.
I was a bit tensed and worried. My parents continued telling that when their grandson visits our house, I being an aunt to him, have to apply oil. I have to help him take a bath and serve him dinner. They said that I have to take care of him as his aunt for that particular day as part of the customs.
I was a bit excited listening to all these things but at the same time was a bit tensed. My parents and my siblings had lengthy discussions again over phone and decided to set the order. As per that, I was supposed to visit my eldest brother’s house.
They decided to start that ritual on very next day and informed all. I was feeling restless. My nephew called me that evening for casual talk. I went to the room and closed the door so that nobody hears our private conversation.

They said that we are supposed to leave before 7. I asked what’s the urgency. They said some pandits have come to their son’s house. They have to perform some pooja before starting the rituals. Since it was the first visit, they said that Pooja was required to be done. They convinced me and sent to my room.
I came to my room and went to the bathroom to take a bath. I recalled what my friends had told on the previous night. I took shaving foam and razor and shaved off all the unnecessary hairs near my private areas. I switched on the shower and started taking a bath.

I sat on that small platform. Pandits started chanting some mantras and asked me to repeat. After I repeated, they asked my parents to come near me and start the proceedings. My parents started applying yellow colored powder mixed with oil on my head and face. All my siblings followed my parents.
They applied to my shoulders and legs till knees. My children too came and applied on my head and face. After everyone’s is completed, they asked my nephew to come and apply. He too had changed his dress as per the instructions that were given by the pandits. He was not wearing any shirt. He was wearing a dhoti.

After sometime when others were busy talking in the hall, out of curiosity I went to my nephew’s room. I went and closed the door from inside so that nobody notices.
