Meera had a life as normal as any girl of a middle class can have. There were a few financial problems. Meera and her family used to live in the village of up until she was 16. They all had packed and were set to leave for train and Meera’s father decides to stay back and look out for his work. Apart from Meera’s father, everyone is ready to leave for train and calls for the cab. Just when the cab arrives, Meera’s mom says, “Meera, stay here. Meera is disappointed as she planned to meet her childhood friends and relatives. Her joy is shattered but it is logical for her to stay. Meera’s dad sees and understands the look on her face and says to his wife, “I will cook, don’t worry. You all go.”
Meera says, “You can’t cook dad, I know. It’s ok. I will stay here.”
Meera’s mom and brother leave in the cab for the train.
Meera goes to the kitchen and starts preparing dinner. In an hour or so, she receives a call from her mom and she says that they have boarded the train and are fine.
For Meera, things seem to be unfair. Her life has no joy at all. Her studies are incomplete and as she thinks more about her life, she starts to sob. Ever since she left college, there have been talks about her marriage. This is the only thing that she can look into future only.
It is Diwali and Meera’s dad is at work. For the past two days, her dad came home late at 12 am or so. Meera stays up till her dad comes and serves food and then goes to sleep. It is 9.15 pm and her dad promised that he would come by 9.00 pm. There is no Diwali without people around a person.
She is now watching TV while there are crackers blasting outside. There are no sweets in her home, no new clothes for her and not even people to share the day. It is about 10 pm when she decides to keep the dinner at the table and goes to the bed.
At about 2 am in the morning, she hears her dad having food. She goes outside and sits next to him. She stays silent for a moment and asks if he wanted anything else.
He says, “I am sorry. This work was really needed to be finished and I couldn’t come early. I’ll take leave tomorrow and we will go watch a movie and eat food outside.”
Meera sighs and says in a disappointed voice, “It’s ok papa, you don’t need to do anything for me. I am okay.”
She goes to bed after saying this. Her dad joins her in the bed as all of her family used to sleep on one double bed. The room is partly closed and there is a little light that makes the room not completely dark. She lies down on one side of the bed while her father on the other end.
Her father says, “I am sorry Meera, I really tried to come home at 9. I even got up but my boss gave me more files. So it took some time.”
Meera stays silent and it starts to worry his dad a little. He moves to her side and keeps his hand over her head and says, “I promise that”
Before he utters another word Meera says, “Don’t promise me anything. You don’t love me. I am just a baggage that you want to get off by getting me married”, and she starts to sob.
He says, “No, really its not that. I love you but things have not been stable, so that’s why I thought if I got you married at least you’d live happily there.”
“Can I say something?” Meera faced him while saying it.
“What?”
“You’ve saved some amount for me. Can you invest that in my studies?”
“But it is for your marriage.”
“But I really want to study.”
“Okay, we’ll talk about it later. I want to do best for you.”
“No dad, what’s best for me is that I study.”
“And what about marriage?”
“I will stay here if I have to and will earn money and you don’t have to earn alone.”
“That sounds like a good thing but it is not practical. If you stay here, how would you have your own family?” he touches Meera’s cheeks.
“I already have a family.”
“Then what about husband and kids. Think about all this.”
“I don’t need to get married for that.”
“What?” her dad says surprisingly.
“You take care of me, so you can replace my husband and Kartik is younger to me and he is like a kid to me. So everything sorted now.”
Her dad says, “You don’t understand. You are young now. You need a husband to enjoy and then have kids of your own with him.”
Meera says, “With all of this argument, I feel like you really want me to go.”
He says, “No I don’t but you have to go.”
Meera starts to cry with heavy tears down her cheeks and her dad rubs her cheeks and wipes off tears and it keeps on flowing down a lot.
Her dad says, “You have to marry someone. You can’t live alone for whole life.”
Meera stays silent and then says, “What if I marry you?”
He slaps her and says, “You are stupid. Go to sleep now.”
Next morning, Meera’s dad wakes earlier than Meera and the look on her face reminds him of the last sentence she said last night. He sees her differently and now notices that her body is of a woman’s. He closes his eyes to remove all these feelings for his daughter but it stays in his brain and it intrigues him to watch her even more closely.

This is the moment of joy for her. She jumps over her father quickly and hugs him completely. She, then, kisses his cheeks with a loving force and hugs him again. He tightens the grip on Meera and keeps her in his arm as much as he could.
As Meera moves her body over her dad, she feels her dad gets tighten up down there. She moves and says, “I have to make breakfast.”
He says, “Ok but we are going out to eat and watch a movie.”
At about 5 pm, they get out for a movie and dinner. They come back home at 11 pm and after changing clothes, they both go straight to the bed. They are facing each other and are tired. Meera touches her dad’s cheeks and says, “You are the best papa in the world.” She gets close to him and kisses his cheeks, again and again, a few times.
He says, “Why did you ask to marry me?”
Meera says, “It is because you want me to get married and I want to study and the solution to all was me getting married to you. That’s when all the conditions could be met.”
Her dad sighs and says, “I’ve been thinking about that.”
Meera says, “You want to marry me?”
“No no, you are my daughter.”
“It’s okay if you think so.”
“I love you but ever since last night after you said that, I am feeling differently for you. Like right now I want to kiss you on lips.”
Meera stays silent and closes her eyes as if inviting him to kiss her. He gets excited of seeing her like this and starts kissing her lips softly. Then he sucks her lip one by one for minutes. He removes his mouth when he becomes sure that he has tasted all corners and parts of her mouth.
Meera breaths heavily after her dad removes her mouth as if she is breathed to life.
Her dad says, “Let’s get married.”
She looks at him surprisingly, smiles and asks, “Now?”
He says, “Not now, tomorrow. We’ll go to court and register our marriage.”
She hugs him and says, “Ok. Would you tell mom?”
He says, “No but whenever she finds out, she’ll know.”
Meera laughs and gives a peck at her dad’s lips.
They sleep and the next day, they start preparing for their wedding. Meera’s dad buys mangalsutra, sindoor and all other things necessary for the wedding. Meera goes to a mall to buy a normal saree and a few jewellery.
At around 11 am, they both reach the court and a lawyer helps them in getting things done. Finally, after a few hours of formality and making things work, Meera and her dad gets married. They book a cab to home and orders food to home. As they reach home, the food gets delivered around 10 minutes later.
Meera’s father has organized a small mandap in the hall. He makes sure that no one in the neighborhood knew anything about this. They have food and start the marriage rituals.
In about an hour, they complete the rituals. Now Meera is asked to wait inside the room while her father cleans up everything in the hall.
Meera gets to the room and as she opens up the door, she is surprised to see the room decorated with pictures of her from childhood till the time she is now. There are different flowers making the presence of her memories even more beautiful. She looks at the photos and smells the flowers. She is completely in love with her father.
Her father comes back and sees Meera smelling rose petals. He holds her from the back and asks, “Did you like it?”

He takes her hand, walks to the mirror and asks Meera to look into the mirror and says, “My daughter and my wife is the most beautiful thing in the world. I can not even imagine a world without you. And I promise to you that I will never love you as only husband or father. I will always love you as husband-father.”
She smiles and quickly turns back and gets into dad’s arms.
He gets to the bed and asks Meera to sit on his lap. She sits and continuously looks at her dad’s face. He rubbed her thighs after inserting his hand into her saree.
