It was almost closing time when the bell on the bookshop door dinged.

The clerk shook his head. "I'm sorry. I can't do that."
"Please!" Tiffany pleaded. "I'll pay you anything! I'll... I'll do
anything. Whatever you want. Just change me back. Please?"
"Look, Tiffany... Terrence, this isn't like returning a toaster. I
explained to you clearly what this would involve. You said it was what
you wanted."
"I know," replied Tiffany. "At the start it WAS what I wanted. It was
wonderful to finally be a woman, to be so feminine and sexy. But then,
I had to deal with all the day-to-day stuff, like my nails."
"What's wrong with them? They stay long and red, like you wanted. You
never have to polish them. They can't break, either."
"That's just it," said Tiffany. "They're too strong to cut or to file.
I can't shorten them. They look great, but it's so hard doing things
with long fingernails. It takes forever to put on pantyhose. One slip
and I've got a run from my hip to my ankle. And my breasts are too
large."
"You wanted them that size," the clerk reminded Tiffany.
"I know, I know. But they are so heavy and they are always in the way.
There are so many things about being a female that I didn't plan on. I hate
having a period. That time of the month can be awful. I think I would
rather get kicked in the jewels... if I still had them. At least that
stops hurting after a few minutes. And speaking of hurting, do you know
what wearing high heels does to my ankles? And the men! I liked the

The clerk sighed. "I did warn you that the reality might not be as good
as the fantasy. Here, let me study you." The clerk slowly circled Tiffany,
looking up and down. "Just for the record, I'm examining the spell. I'm
not ogling you."
A couple of minutes later he stopped and leaned on the counter. "There
is little I can do. This spell was created to be a curse. It wasn't
designed to be removed."
"A curse?" asked Tiffany.
"Yes. To most men, being changed forever into a sexpot of a woman
would be a horror. To a few--like yourself--it would be a blessing.
Only now it isn't as great as you thought it would be, is it?"
"I only want to be happy," said Tiffany forlornly.
"Magic can't give you that," the clerk replied. "I can't control your
mind and force you to be happy. You have to make things better. Accept
the things in your life that you can't change and make the best of it.
This is the life you have. It's the life you must live. Do you
understand?"
Tiffany sadly looked down at the floor. "I guess."
"Listen, I can't make you a man again, but maybe I can make some small
changes in your appearance. At least you won't have to be quite the
bombshell you are now."
Tiffany's face brightened. "Really? Oh, thank you! A few changes to
my body and everything will be perfect! Let's see, I need my breasts
reduced... and my fingernails fixed... and can you give me stronger
ankles? Oh, and my period. That has to be changed. And my hips sway too
much...."
The clerk rolled his eyes, shook his head and sighed.
