Joe was looking at him self in the mirror one morning and dreaming about the days when he
had hair on top of his head. Joe was also tired of having to scrape hair off of his face every morning.
Well, what's a guy to do? Just then, a young woman dressed like a Genie appeared next to Joe in his
bathroom mirror. Joe spun around to look at who had come into his bathroom. No one was there.
When he turned back to the mirror she was smiling at him.
"Hi Joe, how are you doing today?" the young woman asked.
"Where, how, what's going on, why can't I see you, I mean, how come...."
"Easy Joe, you'll hurt yourself, I'm a Genie, just like on the TV show. I am here to grant you
a wish," she explained.
"But I didn't find a bottle or rub a lamp and how did you get in my mirror"
"Well, I'm a Genie, that's how I got in your mirror and I was sent by the woman you helped
last month. Remember stopping and changing the tire for an elderly woman on that rainy day? She
offered to pay you and you refused?" the Genie asked.
"Yeah, I remember. I couldn't take her money, she was too broke looking and besides, I like
helping people. What of it?" Joe said.
"Joe," the Genie explained, "that old lady found my lamp and when I was summoned, she
told me to find you and grant you one of her 3 wishes. That's why I am here today. What would you
like to wish for?"
Joe was at a loss for words. He was a good man who did good deeds for people all the time.
They seldom tried to repay the deeds and when they did, he asked them to pass it on to another
person who needed help. Now Joe had a wish from a real Genie and he didn't know what to wish
for. He was healthy, he made good money and he was single but enjoyed his freedom. He had no
enemies, what to wish for?
"I know," he said, "I wish I was younger with a full head of hair and never had to shave my
face again."
The Genie looked puzzled for a second and then her face brightened. She wasn't the sharpest
knife in the drawer, truth be told. She thought the wish was obscurely worded because the man was
too embarrassed to admit what he really wanted. She nodded her head and blinked, just like on the
TV show. She didn't need to do it; it just made her happy to do so.
As the Genie disappeared from Joe's life forever, Joan knew something was lost in the
translation. A young beautiful woman with thick, shiny hair stared back from the mirror. Her face
was smooth and free of any hair at all. Joan had a full head of hair and never had to shave her face
again but her makeup took her twice as long to apply every morning.
On the bright side, she found it much easier to "get lucky" on dates now.
