I was 13 when I figured out I wanted to be a girl; I guess I always knew I was
different. My parents owned a pharmacy. So, you can guess what I did.
I began seeing a psychiatrist when I was 15 without my parent's knowledge. I was
making enough working at the pharmacy to afford it and my other secret
activities. When I turned 16, my parents decided that I was old enough to
oversee things while they went on a vacation. They would be gone for 4-6 months
and I would be responsible for anything that needed to be handled. Mostly
signing papers and paychecks. They were nice enough to give me a raise, one on
the books, and one off.
So I had about 6 months to prepare. I had saved quite a bit of money, so I went
to a doctor who prescribed what I should take. So without due, 4 months before
they left I started the regimen of hormones that I had ordered through the
pharmacy under false pretenses but otherwise legal. The doctor wasn't overly
pleased but was happy that I went to her before I did anything stupid.
When they finally left, I was wearing a full A cup bra when I was alone. I took
it easy the first couple of weeks by wearing more androgynous clothes. Finally
about the middle of the third week, one of the pharmacists came over to me and
told me that if I was going to start being a girl, as she could see my
development and the change in my clothing style, that I should get it over with.
I took her advice and took the next day off. Mom had left her phone list open
and it just happened to be to her hair stylist. That night I make an appointment
for 'the works'.
I walked in and Dawn looked at me and said, "So Andi, finally going to let me do
something with that long mop of hair. Good!" She brought me over and set me down
in the chair. "What do you want done? I've been waiting to do this for years,
you know." Before I got to respond she continued. "You know, your Mom knows how
you feel, don't you know. No, probably not. She mentioned it from time to time
when I mentioned how lovely your hair was."
I finally got out a gasp, "Huh?"
"Oh come on child. She may not know what you are doing right now, but she knows.
Mothers always know."
"Oh!" I sat there dumbfounded for the first time in years.
"Don't worry your pretty little head over it. We'll have you looking gorgeous by
the time you leave here in a couple of hours." My only thought was, 'What did I
get myself into this time?'
By the time she finished with my hair, makeup, and nails it was over two hours
later, and time for lunch. My hair had been permed into soft curls. My makeup
was done to perfection, very tastefully. My nails and lipstick where coated with
a wine/burgundy color. When I looked in the mirror I was stunned. I was highly
attractive!
"Donna, I'm going out for lunch be back in a couple hours." She said as she
pulled me up from the chair.
"Yes ma'am." Donna replied.
"Let's get some food, and some nice clothes for you." Again I was dumbfounded. I
just followed along like a deer in the headlights. Over the next couple of hours
I spent over $500 of my money on clothes, shoes, and even some makeup. I got my
ears pierced twice; I had a thing for earrings! I got medium sized gold hoops
and real diamond carat studs that were on clearance. Dawn got me a mall discount
on them too, which helped a lot. She also paid for half of them. I owed her a
lot.
My most wonderful experience was being looked at by the boys and girls for
different reasons; I knew then and there that I had made the right decision. I
had a great time with Dawn once I loosened up, but she had to get back to work.
Being an owner of a business has its responsibilities, I had been told.
I went home and put everything away and went to another mall later that
afternoon after changing clothes. I got more money from the bank and began my
second trip into the women's world. It was also my first trip to Victoria's
Secret.
By the time I left there I had spent nearly $400 on lingerie. I was in heaven.
My favorite items were the Body bras and panties, with delicate embroideries.
I went from there straight to the shoe store, getting 5 more pairs of shoes; I
already had 3 from earlier. Then to the jewelry stores where I bought a couple
semi-expensive items and then to another store where I bought a dozen sets of
earrings, six bracelets and a couple small chains.
I returned home just in time to get a call from Mom. They were in Dallas for the
next couple of days and gave me a way to reach them if Dad didn't get my page.
She asked if everything was all right and if I had gotten a haircut yet. I
didn't notice that she almost said styled. She had been on me about getting my
hair cut for a month before they left, and I had promised I would while they
were gone. How little I thought she knew, and how little I really knew.
I returned to work on Friday to many compliments from the girls, and a few
stares from John, the other pharmacist. My life progressed as a normal teenage
girl. I had a few dates with boys and a couple with my only real friends at
school, Jake and Tara. I even ended up having sex with Tara, but that's a whole
other story.
Suffice it to say that when I walked out of the salon/boutique I was a changed
person; I became the real me. Even my therapist said she was surprised and
amazed at my development. I finally admitted that I had been taking low doses of
hormones since I was 13 to hold off puberty and it had actually worked. But let
me warn any of you readers, that I shouldn't have done that. It was very
dangerous and might not have worked; I should have talked to a doctor.
By the time my parents got home 5 months later I was into a full B cup, a C cup
for some styles! I had been living as a girl of 16 for all that time and had
even petitioned the court for a legal name change, which was granted to 'Andrea
Lynn Marcust', and a gender change to Female. I took the GED and passed with
flying colors.
What I didn't know was the doctor talked to my mother, and she to my Dad. They
knew I was different and Mom figured it out fairly easily when I was younger.
How, I don't know. She even talked to my therapist off the record, all without
my knowledge. That was the reason for the 'off the books raise' or allowance as
they called it.
Mom had also had a talk with Dawn before they left and Dawn in turn had talked
to Mom right after she got back to the boutique after lunch. Mom had also talked
to the people at work, so they weren't overly surprised by what was happening.
That and the fact that she reminded them that I had the power to fire them for
reasons and that bigotry of any kind were plausible grounds.
She had also made a trip to the company lawyer having them write up a power of
attorney over me for my Aunt who lived two cities away, who I had rarely seen,
and gave her power of attorney to act as legal guardian under advisements from
my parents, that I was becoming a girl and allowing me to control the company
with the law firm being responsible for overseeing everything; which I didn't
know when I had made trips to the lawyers every few days about my name change.
Basically Mom had set everything up for me without me knowing. Even Dad was
surprised when she told him while they were on vacation, but by the time they
got home, Dad had accepted the fact I was now his daughter, something he always
knew anyway. Again, how do they know these things?
No matter. I will turn 18 in two days and will become a full woman in three.
What a wonderful present to get from Mom and Dad. I just love them so much. Jake
even asked me if I would consent to marry him in a few years. I haven't said yes
yet, but Mom knows I will and so do I. I just want to make him sweat it out. But
I guarantee I won't be that long for using my upcoming equipment with him.
I'm loving my life, thanks to all the hard planning of my mother. I look back
and see the many things she did all while I was growing up. Mostly letting me
make my own decisions, but also the love that she gave me. If it weren't for all
of that, I would have definitely had a hard life and an even harder transition
to Andrea.
Dad thinks I'm the most beautiful daughter a father could have. And that doesn't
count all the clothes I have bought on his credit cards. *Smile*
What can I say, my life is great. Or is it all just a dream?
