James was a strapping young man born into an unhappy home,
His "father" cheated on his mother, and when James turned
eight, they were divorced, both remarried.
James grew up angry, he was never happy. As a result his

When James turned twenty his stepfather died of cancer.

He would pray every day for a change, something that would
have the good lord grant him some grace for all he'd been
through. His mother began to complain weeks later that he
was at home too often, and needed to get a job.
James spent months looking for a job but no one would hire
him. He was walking in the mall one day, looking for job
possibilities, when he saw a strange store with a sign that
said, 'Spells R Us'. James felt compelled to go inside. As
he glanced around he noticed an odd collection of
merchandise, almost like a second hand store.
Then he heard someone in a back room say "I'm running late,
just tell the president that he'll have to wait a few more
days for the half a brain he ordered."
Then, there he was, scrawny and old. James stared for a few
seconds in awe at the nerve of the old man to wear a bright
pink bathrobe in the shop.
James muttered as he regained his composure, "Maybe I
should comeback later."
The old man reached out to James and grabbed his shoulder,
stopping him in his tracks. "My blue one is at the
cleaners, please do browse my store for something that
interests you, and then I will tell you what you need."
James turned to face the man in the pink bathrobe and in
exasperation said, "Why don't you tell me what I need, so I
can browse the store with that in mind?"
The man in the bathrobe smirked at James "You need a change
of pace, I suggest Pixie Dust, James."
James blinked momentarily before beginning to speak, only
to be cut off by the old man, "Don't ask, I'm a wizard."
James made an face that said it all: hope, doubt, fear, and
more doubt. "How much is this Pixie dust and what is it
exactly"
"Well James, We are currently having a special on the Pink
Pixie dust, free for anyone who is named James and comes in
looking for a job between 9 and 11 o'clock"
"Any other flavors?" James Picked up a pink can labeled
'Pixie Dust'
"That's 'Lucas Cherry'" the old man said, " It outsold
'Breaking Blueberry', but blueberry's not for you, besides,
your broke"
James shrugged and took the can of pixie dust as he left
the store. He wondered exactly what would happen when he
ate it's contents.
When James got home, he sat on his bed. Another failure in
life, not having a job. He glanced down at the can of pixie
dust, "Well I guess all is not lost, free candy is always
good."
Popping the top, he poured some of the contents into his
hand and ate it. Nothing happened. He went downstairs and
poured himself a glass of water to wash down the powdered
sugar. As he swallowed the water, he saw that his hand did
not look quite right on his wrist. He blinked and realized
that it looked ok. He shook his head and put the glass in
the dishwasher, and went to take a shower.
James removed his dress-jeans and boxers, he had some
difficulty pulling his boxers over his hips. He stared down
at two completely hairless legs. As he watched, he saw fat
and muscle migrate to his thighs and watched as his legs

off as another trick of his eyes, like how his hand had
looked in the kitchen.
He turned on the water for the shower. As the water sprayed
over his head, he thought perhaps his mother had taken a

James felt slightly disoriented when he exited the shower.

He opened the medicine cabinet and reached up for the

Once again, he brushed it off. He swigged from the bottle

cushions, he stood up to examine the seat and shrugged,
figuring it to be his imagination, he sat back down.
It took him a minute before he felt better and got up
again. James got dressed and walked into the living room
and looked into the full length wall mirror. A beautiful
raven haired girl looked back from the mirror.
