SRU: Nicely Backfired:

(my first attempt at short SRU story)
It had all started a month earlier when Shirley Davis had moved into Don's
neighborhood along with her older sister Valerie and their estranged mother
Sherry. Don Wallace was a senior at St. Mary's Boy's High School at the time.
Shirley Davis had immediately caught Don's eye on her first day at the
school. Shirley was sixteen and had transferred into the adjoining St. Mary's
School for Girls as a sophomore. She was a petite five foot even and with her
long red hair and pale slightly freckled face with large green eyes and small
button nose, she was the classic Irish lass. For the first month or so, Don
had tried to think of a way to attract Shirley's attention. Strict
segregation of the sexes precluded any contact while at school. This meant a
direct approach after school hours. Don's timidity however had been his
downfall from the start. It was not that Don was unattractive to the fair
sex, more it was his timidity that had allowed Shirley the opportunity to
make a choice of her own. By the time Don had gotten up the nerve to approach
the girl, she had already started to date Vinnie Olson. Don was crestfallen.
He had lost his opportunity and instead of blaming himself for his inaction.
He started to inwardly blame Vinnie for "stealing" his girl. He became
obsessed with the idea of finding a way to get even with Vinnie and get
Shirley for himself.
It was two weeks before the Junior Prom that while walking thru the Mall,
alone as usual, that he notice a small shop tucked into an out of the way
alcove near the food court. The sign over the door read "Spells R US". A
small sign in the window said "Something for every Situation" Don's curiosity
was piqued as he peered through the window only to see an old man in what
looked like a bathrobe standing near the counter apparently dusting off his
wears.
Don decided to go in and browse. "What the heck." He thought. "It will at
least kill some time." As he entered a small brass bell over the door gave
off a dull ring. The old man next to the counter never turned around. "Come
in Don. Welcome to my little abode." Said the old man. Don was taken aback.
"How do you know my name? I've never been here before?" Asked Don in a rather
nervous voice. "It's my business to know. I am a wizard after all." Said the
old man with a slight chuckle. "I take it you are looking for something to
impress the young lady with, Shirley I believe?" The old man turned and
looked Don staight in the eys. The deep ice blue eyes of the wizard un-nerved
Don.
"Er... why yes, how did you know?" Answered Don with obvious surprise in his
voice. "I also read minds young man. All respectable wizards can do that.
Hum, let me see." Said the old man. Don watched as the wizard rummaged
through some items under the counter. "Ah.. just the thing." The old man
said.
He placed what appeared to be a dull bronze medallion on a woven gold like
chain an the counter.
Don picked it up and looked at it. It was nothing special. It appeared to
have some odd ancient script on one side and what appeared to be an engraving
of a fairy on the other.
"That is guaranteed to impress the wearer immensely." Said the wizard.
"How is that?" said Don skeptically.
"Well lets just say that it will give the wearer a new way of looking at life
and their priorities." Said the wizard with an odd look on his face.
Don was inwardly laughing at the seriousness of the wizard. Don felt a little
sorry for the old man. It seemed that he actually believed his own story.
"Ok I'll take it." Said Don. Heck Don thought, the medallion was a little on
the odd side and Shirley might even appreciate that he had gone out of his
way to buy her a unique gift.
Don paid the wizard a meager sum for the medallion and as he was about to
leave the shop the wizard stopped him.
"Just one thing. The Medallion must be placed around the neck for it to work.
and do not let the medallion touch any article of clothing after it is taken
out of the box and before it is put around the neck of the wearer except the
wearer's own clothing of course. Failure to follow these instructions can
cause the wearer to change into the physical appearance as well as
personality of whoever worn the piece of clothing that touched the medallion.
This will last for at least 24 hours and sometimes permanently if these
conditions are not followed to the letter.
"Ok, sure." Said Don as he turned out the door only half attentive to the
wizard's admonition.
"The wizard just smiled and shook his head.
As Don walked out of the Mall exit He did not noticed that the sign over the
door of "Ye Olde Magic Shoppe" had faded away and was replaced by another
which said "Ladies Rest Rooms".
As Don walked back towards his home he decided to hide the medallion for a
few days until he could find the right opportunity to give Shirley his gift.
He did not want his sister Nickie to see the medallion. Nickie was one pain
in the neck. She was overly curious about everything and had a loose tongue
to boot. Typical for a ten year old girl. Don was determined to try to win
Shirley's favor before mentioning anything to Nickie.
Don went down to the basement and found an old trunk that was being used for
storage of discarded items. He opened the trunk and placed the box containing
the medallion between several layers of old clothes. The box made closing the
trunk lid difficult but by leaning on the lid he managed to get the trunk lid
closed. Don did not realize that this forceful closing had cause the box to
tilt in the trunk and the top of the box sprung open just enough so that the
edge of the medallion touched one of the clothing items in the trunk. For the
next few days the medallion rested securely but gently between two of the
dresses that Nickie had worn when she had started first grade.
The following Friday afternoon Don's mother told him that she and Nickie
would be going to stay at her mother's house for the weekend while his father
was away at a conference. Don declined to go with them and said that he was
going to to spend the weekend doing some studying for his up coming exams.
After the usual "lecture" about not having any parties etc., Don watched as
his mother and sister drove out of the driveway and down the street. As the
car turned the corner and went out of sight, Don went into the kitchen and
got a coke from the refrigerator. He sat down at the kitchen table and
contemplated how he was going to get Shirley to dump Vinnie in favor of
himself.
It was then that he remembered the medallion and what the "wizard" had told
him as he left the shop. Don could not help but laugh to himself as he
thought of what the old geezer had said. "Ridiculous. Imagine a medallion
doing those things." Don said to himself. "But, what if..." Don thought as he
got up from the table and headed for the cellar door. He was quite sure that
the gift of the medallion and any "magical powers" it contained would
convince Shirley that he and not Vinnie should be her boyfriend.
Don's brother Carl was five years his senior and was an All-American with the
University of Michigan. Don had always envied his brother's physique. In high
school he had been the star fullback and team Captain. Carl had never had any
trouble dating any girl he wanted. If only he look like him, at least a
little bit, Don was sure that Shirley would be impressed and Vinnie would be
out of the picture. It was a slim chance but if the "wizard was right,... Don
had to give it a try. He had nothing to loose and every to gain. Don was sure
that some of Carl's High school jerseys was in the old trunk. "What the
heck." he thought. "All or nothing."
Don opened the trunk with some difficuty but as the lid gave way, Don did not
notice that the medallion had come partially out of the box and had dropped
back inside as the pressure was released. He took the box out of the trunk
and laid it on the floor as he continued to rummage inside the trunk for one
of Carl's jerseys. He found what he was seeking, Carl's football jersey with
the bright red number 7 on the back.
Closing the trunk, Don carried the jersey and the box back up to his bedroom
and laid the items on his bed.
Don remembered the admonition from the wizard not to let clothing to touch
the medallion before it was placed around the neck. Carefully, Don removed
his shirt. He opened the box and removed the medallion. He placed it over his
head and allowed it to hang down onto his chest. As he reached for Carl's
jersey to touch it to the medallion, Don felt and intense tingling all over
his body. "Strange, he thought, I haven't even touched the jersey yet."
Don felt extremely dizzy. He laid back against the pillow of his bed and
closed his eyes. The room seemed to spin faster and faster. As suddenly as
the dizziness started, it stopped. Don opened his eyes and instinctively
reached for the medallion on his chest. He sat bolt upright as he looked at
his body. It was all wrong he thought. He could not see his feet. The belt on
his pants was much to big. As Don tried to move off the bed, he fell off the
bed. It seemed like a long way down.
Don struggled to his feet as his pants and jockeys fell to the floor. He
found himself standing beside his bed totally naked and, and... Don screamed
as he realized that he now had the body of a little GIRL. Don ran into the
bathroom. The full length mirror reflected his worst fears. He was a little
girl. Real little. He looked just like Nickie did in the family photo on the
livingroom wall. "Oh God,!" Don exclaimed to himself. "I have become my
little sister."
For several minutes Don stood mesmerized in front of the mirror. His face had
definitely taken on Nickie's image. Nickie's blue eyes peered back at him
from the mirror. He now had the waist length golden hair that Nickie had had
for her first three years in school. Don looked at his hands. They were
indeed the small delicate hands of a child. He reached between his legs and
even though he was sure at what he would find there, it was still a shock
when he felt the soft hairless folds of the female nether region.
"Damn! Damn!" Don swore to himself. As he started to regain some composure.
"How the hell..... the trunk. What was in the trunk." He said to himself. Don
ran out of the bathroom and down the stairs to the basement. Totally
oblivious to his state of nakedness. As he tore into the trunk he found the
cause of his problem. The trunk was mostly filled with Nickie's old dresses.
"The medallion must have touched some of these." Don thought. Don rummaged
through the trunk and found several unopened packages of panties and a white
cotton bouffant slip. He also found a few pair of ankle socks. Don became
aware as he looked at the clothes in the trunk that he was himself naked. He
had to do something about that immediate need. He took the slip and panties
along with one of the dresses and socks out of the trunk and carried them
upstairs to his room.
He laid the pink dress and other items on the bed. Finally after several long
minutes of debating with himself he took the panties and stepped into them.
He was acutely aware of how soft and cool they felt as they slid up his now
girlish legs. Don next put on the socks and the slip. He reached behind his
head and effortlessly pulled his long hair out from under the back of the
slip. He did the same as he pulled the dress over his head. Don did not even
realize how easily he was accomplishing these simple girlish tasks. It was
almost like his new body knew exactly what to do. Don walked into Nickie's
room and sat down at her vanity. He picked up her sister's hair brush and
spent close to half an hour brushing the long hair into a golden sheen. He
then found two pink barrettes in Nickie's accessories case and Don then
placed them in his hair just above each ear. Don was satisfied. He could not
understand this irresistible urge to make himself look pretty. Oh well he
thought, it was only for 24 hours and then he could change again. "Ill just
have to stay out of sight for the next day." He said to himself. Don went
back into the bathroom and stood again in front of the full length mirror. He
was pleased. The image that he saw was one of his sister. Pretty and radiant.
Don smiled.
He felt a dizziness come over him and then leave as fast as it came. Time
shifted backwards slightly---
Dawn hoped that the new "sitter" would like their new dresses. She had
promised to take Dawn and her twin sister Nickie to the mall and movies if
theu got prettied up.
"Come on Sis, stop looking in the mirror and lets go." Said Nickie as she
came into the bathroom wearing the same outfit. The two young twins then
skipped down the hallway to find Shirley. Their new sitter.

The wizard, looked into the blue glass of his crystal ball and just smiled at
the image of the two little girls wearing the pink party dresses. The wizard
just smiled and nodded his head. as he walked away from the images in the
blue glass and put the medallion which had magically appeared on his counter
back in its place.
