stormed out of the apartment.
Ed sat there frustrated. "Maybe, I should find a girl that
will." He retorted to the wake Cheryl left in her angered
departure.
Ed did not understand why Cheryl wouldn't perform that
magic that all his friends' girls seemed to give them all
of the time. Cheryl was insulted by the "indignity" that
she was being asked to do. She felt that he should be
satisfied with the love that she did give him. It was
beginning to wear thin on her, and tonight was the final
straw. She needed a way to fix Ed's attitude. He needed to
have more respect for her as a human. So, she made a quick
trip to her great-aunt's home just outside of town. Cheryl
knew that Auntie Dot would have a good elixir for the
situation.

"Okay, Cherrie. Just remember the rules for this potion."
"Yes'm."
"Good luck."
Cheryl headed back to town with the concoction that her
aunt had put together. It was sure to fix Ed's attitude. As
she pulled up to Ed's apartment complex, she got an eerie
feeling that nearly made her back out of the venture.
She used the key Ed had given her to enter the apartment.
She found him asleep on the couch just as she expected. She
slipped over to him and slid on to the couch. She hesitated

expected, he coughed and sat up with a start, but he did

dizzier, and soon, he was sound asleep. Cheryl slipped off
of him and sat in a chair in the corner of the room.
Over the next several hours, she watched as Ed's body
transformed. First, he looked as though he was regressing

replaced them. His skin became smooth and began to take on
a milky silkiness. She had barely noticed the changes that
were simultaneously occurring to his frame. His rib cage
became narrower. His legs became thinner and more refined.

was eight hours later that the transformation was complete.
Lying in the bed where her boyfriend once lay was now a

choice. You would never take a moment to understand my

Ed refused to eat the meal Cheryl prepared even though he
was quite hungry. He just sat there in the chair for most

was leave him alone. So, she headed to her apartment and
gathered up some clothes. She figured that Ed was close to
her size, and at worst, he would be a bit smaller than her.
When Cheryl returned that evening, she found that Ed had

"Listen, Ed. Try some of these on."
"Those are girl's clothes!"
Cheryl was beginning to lose patience with his moping and
general sour attitude. "Well, face it you ARE a girl! So,

"Fine! Have it your way." she snapped and headed out the

Ed sat there for the rest of the night feeling sorry for

A week had gone by, and Cheryl had become concerned about
Ed's health. She headed over to his apartment to find that
the young woman had not eaten all week. She was beginning
to look emancipated, and this terrified Cheryl.
"Ed? You okay?"
Ed just stared blankly. He had spent most of the week
feeling sorry for himself, but now, he was beginning to
feel his energies shift towards anger and resentment for
Cheryl. Cheryl felt uneasy about the situation, but she
tried to push it off.
"Come on, Ed. You've gotta eat."
Ed just looked at her with contempt. This caused Cheryl's
guilt to deepen. Finally, Ed spoke. "Leave. Just leave. I
don't want to see you anymore." His tone was flat and cold.
Cheryl looked at him with heartbreak in her eyes. She
hesitated before slowly walking to the door. She looked
back once more.
"Go!" he said again.
Cheryl went out the door with tears beginning to fill her
eyes. She had not planned for this. She simply wanted to
teach Ed a lesson about her feelings. Instead, it seemed
she had lost the man she loved, and she wondered if he
would even survive the ordeal. She sat in her car crying
for a while before she could drive off.
Ed sat there after Cheryl left contemplating his choices.
He could either wither away and die, or he could get up and
find the courage to end this terrible predicament. With
little remorse from his disposal of Cheryl, he slowly got
up from the chair. Several days of not eating had left his
body weak, and he got very light headed. However, he
managed to keep from falling over.
Over the next week, Ed stayed in his apartment and kept
eating. It wasn't long before he was feeling well again,
but he could not seem to find out how he could do what
needed done. He was slowly beginning to understand Cheryl's
