Andromeda - The Beginning Chapters 1 - 2

"I saved the world from an invasion by an Alien warlord, yet it is
interesting how I ended up in my current disposition. You sure you want
to know, because it's not some cheerful fantasy tale. It's like a Mike
Barr comic book from hell. Look, it's a long story, as clich? as it may
seem, I began as an ordinary guy. My name is Lee Edmunds and I was
sixteen years old at the time my sister ruined my life. See I love
comic books and all, been collecting them for years and never thought
I'd become a superhero. See what happened is my sister found this ring
that grants super powers, but there is a catch. It turns me into a girl
and I can't change back.
Chapter One
Thursday morning I rolled over and opened my eyes. I knew what today
was but I feared getting up. I did not want to today to be a big
theatrical production. I was emotionally scared from birthday parties
from years past. I turned 16 today and really, the only person I really
wanted to spend the day was with Karena Rodriguez.
I got up, got dressed and began to start reading the stack of comics I
had bought three days before at my local comic shop. A whole slew of
back issues in the quarter bin; a lot of them were real golden
treasures. Lots of great stories and continuity, something I thought
the most current comics lacked. Must of sat in my room for hours
reading because I was scared to go downstairs for what would probably
turn out to be the worst birthday party ever. I was sitting my room
reading some old issues of Moon Knight when my best friend Dante
Phillips barged in my room.
I looked up from my comic book at him. Me I'm half black half Korean
and about 5'8, black hair and blue eyes. Now he is about 6'2, sandy
blonde hair, blue eyes. SO he's much taller and more muscular than I
am. Dante moved to Seattle, Washington six years ago with his Mom when
she got a new high tech job at Microsoft. He wasn't into comics like I
was but he didn't make fun of me for reading them like others. He was
more of a jock. A real ladies man and computer nerd. He was older than
me by almost a year and he had his own car.
"Dante don't lie to me man, but is my Mom planning something. There
aren't a whole lot of people down stairs," I asked.
"Nah man, but Happy Birthday."
"Thanks." I said
"Whatca reading?"
"Moon Knight."
"Who's that?"
"Marvel Superhero, member of the Avengers."
"Oh cool, cool. You aren't just going to sit up here in your room and
read comic books all day are you."
"Well any better ideas?"
"Let me buy you lunch or something. We can even stop by and see if
Karena wants to tag along."
"Alright fine."
I put my comic book down and decided to get dressed up since I wanted
to look good for Karena. She was the most beautiful girl at my school.
She was a Latina goddess with the perfect body and long curly black
hair. I loved her since I first met her four years ago. Me and Karena
were best friends but I don't think she knew that I was madly in love
with her. I put on my Sean Jean shirt and checked my hair in the
mirror. Looking sharp Lee Edmunds was all good to go. I exited my
bedroom and went downstairs where Dante was waiting in the kitchen.
"Alright lets go man." Dante said.
I followed him out to his car and we climbed in. It was only a 10 min
drive or so from my house to Karena. Dante pulled up into the driveway
and I got out. I walked up to the door with confidence. Well I would
try and be cool, not to cocky. I took a deep breath and rang the
doorbell. Soon the girl of my dreams opened the door wearing a bright
smile. God, she looked so sexy standing there.
"Come in."
She reached out and grabbed my arm and pulled me into her house and led
me into the living room. Suddenly all sorts of folks popped out from
their hiding places and yelled Surprise. My Mom and Dad were here, my
sister, Karena's Mom and Karena. I turned around and saw Dante standing
there offering me his present. I took the box from him and began to rip
off the wrapping paper. I smiled as I saw Dante had gotten me a new G4
ibook. I began to empty the box of all its packing and plastic to get
to my new portable computer. Finally after getting it out of the box I
set it on the table and opened it up and turned it on.
"Thanks Dante, guess you can teach me all your computer secrets."
My Mom walked across the room and handed me a bag. I opened up the bag
and pulled out some comics. I was amazed my Mom got me some awesome
comics. Spawn # 1 Signed by Todd McFarlane and Witchblade Limited
Collectors comic signed by Michael Silvestri and David Wohl. I smiled
and looked up to my Mom.
"Thanks Mom, Dad you're the best."
"You're welcome son." My Mom said
"Dante my boy does that thing there hook up to the internet?" My Dad
asked.
"Sure, Lee is going to have to get a modem for it though and internet
service provider."
"Oh I don't know Bill, I don't want him getting stalked by some
perverts or picking up some trashy girl from a chat room and marrying
her only to find out she used to be a man." Mom said excitedly.
Everyone in the room laughed at my Mom. She got upset.
"What I saw on that Montel Williams." My Mom added
"Like that would happen Mom." my Sister said.
"Dear really you shouldn't watch so much day-time television, but I
guess I'll go to the computer store and see if I can get you plugged in
to the Matrix." my Dad joked.
My younger sister Alyssa stepped forward and presented me with a small
box. I took it from her. And careful opened it. Inside was a small
ring. It was a band of platinum or silver with etchings and symbols all
around it. On top was a pink stone.
"Did you make this in Jewelry class."
"No didn't make it. I found it and I know it probably doesn't look
anything like the Green Lantern's ring or The Lord Of the Rings or
anything but I thought you might really like it. Maybe I can get my
jewelry teacher to get me a green stone and I can make it look more
like a green lantern ring, or whatever you want."
"Thanks Alyssa I love it."
I looked down up down at the ring and studied the etchings more
closely. For a second there seemed to be a faint glow of light from the
symbols engraved.
"Let me see." Karena said.
I walked over to her got down on one knee and grabbed her hand.
"Karena will you marry me."
Everyone burst into laughter. Dante shook his head. She laughed and
took the ring from me. She inspected it and then gave it back. I took
the ring and put it my pocket.
"No way I'm going to marry the man of my dreams. Lil Bow Wow." She
said.
"You silly Girl." Mrs. Rodriguez said, "Lee right there is a nice boy.
You to should go to the prom together. You two would make a nice couple
don't you think Dante."
"It's Possible." Dante chimed in.
"Mama your embarrassing Lee. Lee is my best friend. We don't like each
other like that." Karena said.
I blushed again and stood up.
"Yeah I was only kidding Mrs. Rodriguez."
"Silly boy." Mrs. Rodriguez rolled her eyes and threw her hands up in
the air.
"Alright you two silly kids. I don't understand dating these days."
Mrs. Rodriguez said as she left the room.
"Sorry about my Mom."
Karena smiled and unexpectedly hugged me. I blushed and as she released
me and backed away. She hung her head in shame and looked at the
ground. I think she was almost on the verge of tears. I could tell the
words that she was about to say caused her great pain and stabbed her
like knives.
"Sorry I forgot it was your birthday and I didn't get you anything.
Please don't be mad but I promise to make up for it. I'll take you
anywhere you want to go and we can do whatever you want." She said
apologetically.
"Sorry Lee, if I would of known before hand I would of got you
something. Karena and I feel so bad, please forgive us." Mrs. Rodriguez
said apologetically.
"Aw i'ts alright, Karena I'm not mad. You want to come with me and
Dante to grab a bite to eat."
"Sure just let me go get my coat."
"You kids be careful. If anything happens you call alright." Mrs.
Rodriguez called out from the kitchen.
"Don't stay out to late." My Mom said.

Dante offered to take me anywhere I wanted to eat. Anywhere in Seattle
my appetite desired. Dante kept on insisting on Hooters but I didn't
want to eat there, especially not if Karena was there. We decided to
eat at Red Robin where they have the best gourmet burgers and delicious
cheese sticks. Before we went in I had to give Dante my evil stare
down.
"Don't you dare embarrass me. If you tell those people it's my birthday
then they are going to come to my table and sing. I don't want none of
that..." I said.
"Aw come on. I can't have any fun embarrassing you? What about Karena?"
Dante asked.
"You remember my 13th birthday party don't you." I growled and turned
around entering the building.
Dante followed close behind me. Karena was already in side a waiting.
It was a few minutes wait and then a cute girl seated us in a booth.
She wasn't the goddess that Karena was but I figured she could be ms.
potential for Dante so I nudged him in the stomach. Karena told us
she'd be right back and to order her drink.
"Nah man, I don't stand a chance. She probably a college chick or
something."
"Look at you, you're like Warren Worthington the third and I'm Peter
Parker. If anything I'm the guy who doesn't have a chance." I said.
"Oh just ask Karena to the prom already? She'd definitely go with you."
Dante said
"As a friend, not like I would be a real prom date." I sighed.
"Hey man, Karena's coming back."
I tried to put on my poker face before Karena sat down.
"What's wrong Lee." Karena asked
"Nothing."
"Oh come on you can us ol' buddy. Its your birthday cheer up."
"You're right it is my birthday. And so far it has been as bad."
"Oh remember that party you had when you were 11. Yeah it was at this
pool and we all went swimming and Lee some how lost his swim trunks in
the pool. It was funny."
Dante and Karena started laughing. I slapped my hand on my forehead and
then slowly began to slide underneath the table. Here was Dante
broadcasting all my most embarrassing moments to Karena Rodriguez. The
girl of my dreams. I punched Dante in the shoulder with my fist hoping
he'd get the message I wanted him to shut up.
"No more I forbid you to speak Dante Phillips."
"I so wish I was there." Karena said
"Hey I have an idea we can go swimming later today. And we'll buy like
3 pairs of swim trunks for Lee."
"Really... how about not." I said sarcastically.
"Oh come on Lee that's not so bad. Okay maybe it is." Dante said.
Finally the cute waitress came back and was ready to take our order.
"I'll have a Gourmet Cheeseburger and a Coke." Karena said.
"Same here, only I want a chocolate milkshake. Oh and it's my friend
Lee's birthday."
"Well Happy Birthday Lee. And what would you like." The Waitress said
"I'll have the Crispy Chicken burger and a Sprite." I said hanging my
head.
"All right I'll be back with your drinks real soon."
I turned and gave Dante a stern stare.
"Dude... like dude my birthday was going great. This year I had escaped
the humiliation, but no. Now you know what they are going to do? They
are going to bring me cupcakes with candles and balloon and will insist
on singing."
"Oh Lee come on relax. All your birthday's couldn't of been that bad."
Karena said.
"I don't want to remember. Pretty much all birthday have sucked as far
as I can remember. Well one year. When I was real little my party guest
beat me up and trashed my presents another year my uncle set fire to
our kitchen trying to light the candles on my cake another year. I tell
you birthdays are a curse. Not something to celebrate." I said.
"Oh just relax and have fun." Karena said winking.
"So does the birthday boy want to do after this?" Dante asked.
"How about we catch a movie?" Karena suggested.
"How about we go and see Blade 3?" I said.
"Oooo blood guts, just my kind of movie." Karena said excited.
"Alright I guess that's set, I wish the waitress would hurry and bring
us our food because I want to eat and leave already." Dante said.

"I'm gonna go home Lee." Dante said smiling
"What... you can't go home. Why are you going home? You want to ditch
me on my birthday. How am I going to get home and what about Karena."
"Well I figured you could be alone with Karena. Besides you can walk
her home, it's not that far." Dante said as he punched my shoulder
lightly and winked.
I stood there in the concessions line at the movie theater and thought
about it for a moment. Well I stood there thinking about it for a long
time and didn't realize I was next. The guy behind the register was
standing there just staring at us.
"Can I help you?"
"Yeah, Two cokes and a medium Popcorn." I said.
I turned around and looked at Dante. A nodded my head.
"Alright bro, catch you later."
"Later."
"That will be $12.50 sir."
I turned and handed the guy a twenty dollar bill. I picked up the two
cokes with both hands and tried to pick up the popcorn bag with my
teeth. I decided that would not work and set the popcorn down. Then I
stood there for a moment analyzing the situation. The guy behind the
counter just continued to stare. So I picked up the cokes and tried to
hold them in one arm and the popcorn in the other. I turned around and
headed off to the theater. My arms and my hands were full so I could
not open the door. I waited for a minute then walked towards the door
as it opened. I got smacked in the face. I backed up spilling a bit of
popcorn. A person exited the theater and continued walking, not
bothering to stop and apologize.
"Um, sir would you like a tray to carry that." The Cashier called out.
Yes that would be practical a tray. Why didn't I think to ask for one I
thought to myself?

Karena and I exited the theater after the movie. She was smiling and
laughing. I'm glad she enjoyed since not all chicks dig action movies,
or comic books even. God she was perfect.
"You sure you don't mind walking home?" I asked.
"No I don't mind. As long as I don't get wet."
I looked outside and say it was just starting to rain. As we stepped
out of the theater a few drops of rain fell here and there. It was such
a beautiful day earlier and now it raining. That's typical Seattle for
yah right there. I took Karena's hand and started to sprint home.
"Come on we can beat the rain." I said.
We made it a few blocks until it started to pour down on us. The both
of us got soaked. Her wet clothes accentuated her perfect body. We
stopped under a tree, where I put my arms around. She was shivering and
I pulled her close to me. I leaned down and kissed her. She pulled back
and just stared at me.
"You weren't like serious, when you asked me to marry you earlier
today?" Karena asked.
I just blushed. But finally I conjured up the courage to tell her what
I've wanted to tell her since I first met her.
"God Karena you are so beautiful. And there isn't anything I wouldn't
give to be your boyfriend."
Karena put her hands around my neck and kissed me passionately. This
was the first girl, I'd ever kissed, the first girl I ever loved.

Mrs. Rodriguez gave us a funny look as we stood outside in the pouring
rain. She walked out onto the porch.
"Don't just stand there like fools. You'll catch pneumonia. Hurry come
inside."
The two of us hurried inside. Karena and I had been holding hands as we
walked in which made Mrs. Rodriguez raise her eyebrows.
"You two leave as friends and come back holding hands. If I only I
understood you teenagers these days."
"Mama well Lee is my boyfriend now."
"Oh really?" Mrs. Rodriguez said delighted. She sighed, "Well it took
you two lovebirds long enough. It was there so blatantly before I could
see it. You two were in love with one another. Just wait till your
mother hears the news."
Mrs. Rodriguez disappeared into the kitchen. And Lee's mother emerged.
She smiled as she walked out and saw Lee and Karena holding hands.
"I always knew you two get together one day. Well Lee, I guess you can
stay here at the Rodriguez's. I got to go run some errands and drop off
your sister."
"Mom can Karena come over for dinner tonight?"
"Oh absolutely. Karena you are always invited in our home."
"And you are always invited here Senor Edmunds." Karena's Mom shouted
from the kitchen.
"Well I guess I'll drop you guys off and go do my errands."

I held Karena's hand as I led her up the stairs into my room. I put my
new laptop on my bed and place the comics I got earlier that day on top
of a stack that was next to my bed. I turned around and Karena was
looking at me with a sexy smile.
"Hey where is that ring your sister gave you?"
"Right here in my pocket."
I pulled out the ring and began to study it more closely. It was an
interesting ring in itself. I put it on my finger and the markings once
again glowed like they did before only this time it wasn't a flash. The
light from the markings around the ring was pulsating. Karena walked
over and took my hand. She admired the ring.
"Isn't it a bit girly, don't ya think?"
"Well just that pink stone that bothers me but I'm sure Alyssa can fix
that."
"Oh neat it glows."
In an instant my knees felt like jelly and I couldn't stand up. I
collapsed on the floor. I was feeling disoriented, my vision went
blurry. I felt a warm rush over my body. Karena held me in her arms.
And then everything went completely black.
Chapter Two
"Lee wake up." Karena cried
I opened my eyes and saw Karena's angelic face, but something wasn't
right! I didn't feel alright, in fact I didn't feel like I did at
before I passed out. I gritted my teeth and groaned as a sharp pain
pierced my stomach. I tried to sit upright and I noticed my shirt was
all stretched out and hanging off me.
"What happened Karena?" I asked.
"Oh my God you scared me Lee. Wait right here and I'll go call an
ambulance."
Karena quickly dashed out of my room. I couldn't move as it hurt to
move just the tiniest bit. I laid there, calm for a second until a
bright light filled the room. I could see anything anymore and I felt
the warmness return. The pain stopped and it felt as if my very skin
was being stretched and pulled.
Just then I could hear Karena and Alyssa screaming for me. The flesh in
my torso shifted and I felt and odd weight on my chest. I moved my hand
to feel. Only I didn't expect my hand to be cupping a pair of breast. I
let out a shrill sounding scream. It was my voice either it was that of
a female. I knew what happened. I turned into a girl. Somehow I turned
into a bloody girl. The odd sensations and tugging seemed to stop and
the bright light faded.
Karena and Alyssa stood in the doorway puzzled. The walked over to my
and stared down at me.
"Who are you and where is Lee."
"I am Lee."
Karena and Alyssa grabbed me and pulled me up to my feet. I didn't have
my balance and I wobbled but the two of them helped me over to the bed.
"The ring... the ring I think its turned me into a girl." I shouted.
Karena eyes widened and she frantically grabbed my hand. She started to
tug at the ring in order to remove it but it wouldn't budge. Karena
turned towards my sister.
"Where did you find this ring?"
"I was walking home one day and I found it. No way a ring could do
this. It's not possible."
Alyssa slowly started to shake her head. She backed away from us and
ran back to her room where she slammed her door. Karena stayed and just
stared. She pulled me up and started to lead me into the bathroom.
I stopped dead in my tracks, as I didn't believe what I was seeing in
front of me. A goddess stared back at me from the mirror. She was
alight skinned black girl with long flowing black hair and a tight
athletic body. I then noticed Karena standing next me to me staring at
my reflection as well. I was about the same height as her now only
maybe slightly taller. This couldn't be happening.
"Come on, I bet I can get that ring to budge with some soap." she said.
Immediately she went to work soaping up my finger and then she began to
pull at the ring. The Ring seemed to have a mind and will of its own
and melted into my finger. Karena stopped and dropped the bar of soap
in her hands. I stood there and stared. There was any sign of the metal
band or the ring at all. I began to freak out. I couldn't help, I was
shaking uncontrollably and there tears streaming down my face. I was
defeated, I retracted into a fetal position and cried myself right to
sleep right there.

I awoke in my room. I must have dreamed about having the worst birthday
ever. Hooking up with the girl of my dreams and turning into a girl. I
knew something wasn't right. Okay so maybe indeed it wasn't a dream and
I did turn into a girl, but that wasn't it. Something else was wrong.
The Realization dawned upon I was levitating above my bed. In mid air.
In an instant I feel onto my bed. I was in shock and I didn't dare move
a muscle. I just swallowed.
"First I turn into a girl and just now I was floating... 4 feet above
my bed!"
I noticed Karena was still there. She was staring up at me in
disbelief. Sam thing with my sister and there was Dante.
"Lee is that really you?" Dante asked.
"Last time I checked." I said.
I began to sit up. I looked at Dante and Alyssa and Karena. They looked
down at myself. I was still wearing the same clothes as this morning
but well my body sure as hell wasn't the same. The clothes draped of me
as I had shrunk. I sheepishly looked up at them.
"Um... I could use some better fitting clothes." I said.
My sister ran to her room and came back with tons of clothes. Girl
clothes. I looked at her.
"I can't wear there, those are girly clothes."
"Dude...but like you so are a girl." Dante said.
Karena and Alyssa looked at Dante. And the two of them shoved him out
the door and locked it. Alyssa began to pull the shirt I had off over
my head. There I was topless with my new breast exposed. Alyssa threw
the shirt aside and turned towards me. She reached out and pinched my
nipples.
"OUCH!"
"Oh my God they are real. My brother has a set of tits. He's ever
prettier girl than I am."
Karena handed my sister a bra and then she wrapped it around me and
fastened it. My breasts were now snug in the cups of a brassiere. My
sister pushed me back on the bed then the two of them began to pull the
baggy pants down past his newly wider hips. I was still wearing my
boxers, which didn't quite fit. My sister threw a pair of her black
panties.
"Lee for the moment just go with the flow and put those on, we'll
figure something out. For now you will have to pretend to be a girl and
I tell Mom and Dad your one of my friends who spending the night and we
can tell them that you went to spend the night at Dante's house or
something. Oh I don't know. I'm so sorry Lee I have no Idea what I got
you into. Now you're some kind of freak because of my birthday
present."
My sister started to cry. And I got up and hugged her. Everything was
going to be okay. I knew if anyone could help me out I could depend on
Karena and my sister. Karena hugged Alyssa too. Karena hadn't said much
since my transformation and I figured she was probably in shock but I
could tell that she would be there for us.
I finished getting dressed and Alyssa put me in a tube top/skirt then
dragged me downstairs where Dante was still waiting.
"Lee do you look hot or what!"
Dante was looking me up and down. Ogling my goodies. It was bad enough
I was wearing girl clothes in front of my best friend. It was worse
that I looked like a total babe and he probably wanted to... well I
don't want to think about it.
"Dude like stop it. You're creeping me out." I told Dante.
"Oh yeah Sorry man. I forgot that its you Lee... it's just you're so
hot!"
"Hey, hey back off, stop drooling over my brother you weirdo." My
sister shouted.
"Well besides looking like a total hottie, levitating and telekinesis.
I wonder what other powers you have Lee." Dante said, trying to stay
serious.
"Telekinesis?" I asked.
"When you were out unconscious things started to move about and the
bedroom shook. I like going to see scary movies with you guys but I
don't like reenacting this poltergeist shit." Karena said.
"Hmmm really but I don't know how to use these powers. And I really
don't want to stay like this."
"Maybe you can uh help me find a girlfriend Lee. With your new disguise
and all. It would be perfect." Dante said.
"No way in hell buddy. I'm changing back as soon as we figure out a
way." I said.
"Well the ring is gone. It was absorbed into your finger. I don't know
what else to do for now. So I figure you are stuck as a girl with some
supernatural powers." Karena said.
"Well for now." I said resigned.
"But maybe it's a sign or something. Like you have to do something
first." Alyssa said.
"You mean like with great power comes great responsibility. Are you
saying if I become a female superhero and do some good I might can
change back."
"Exactly!"
