Something happens to Belle and Larry helps.
Hello everybody. This Bobbie. Belle did agree to let me tell this one.
It was late one night. Now I know that sounds plain, but it was true.
The phone rang. I picked it up. Nicole was on the other end. She said,
"Bobbie please come to Salem General. Stop at your Aunt's place and pick
up her sleep wear and street clothing. I will explain what I can when
you get here."
I just did a quick wash up. Then I got dressed. I heard the doorbell
ring. It was Larry and Helga with their children. Helga said, "Nicole
called us. She wants Barry to do some babysitting. She called Hedi since
Hedi is Belle's lawyer. My brother Henry, Larry and me so we could
control WildBill."
I climbed into Larry's car. Hedi was drivng and Larry was sitting on
Helga's lap. I went to my Aunt's place and picked up some of her things.
Then we drove to Salem General. When we got there, I saw a Salem P. D.
car, a Salem Sheriff's car, and Nicole's personal car. The last one
surprised me. I knew that Nicole was working tonight. I also saw Belle's
Durango in the staff lot. When we entered the hospital, I found what was
wrong. Jo was there and she was in her civilian clothing. Nicole took me
to a small office. Jo was with her. Nicole said in very quiet and gentle
voice " Bobbie, Belle was raped. She was here to see a rape victim.
After her visit, she was jumped as she was returning to her car. Sam
Addams from the Salem Police is guarding her right now."
I said, "Wow, that is heavy. Now shouldn't Donna be with her ? She has
more training and exeprience in this area."
Jo said, "That is why I am here. Donna is on a temporary leave. Donna
shot the perp and it has tobe reviewed. Donna is also shook up about it.
Her partner Sam, told me the perp was armed with a large knife and Donna
caught the perp in the act. The only thing we don't know was why. Well
maybe after we I. D. the perp, we can find a motive."
I said, "Thanks Jo, it sounds like a righteous shoot. Nicole can you
take me to my Aunt please."
Nicole said in that same gentle voice that she used earlier " Bobbie,
Belle has been heavily sedated. She has several cuts along her arms.
There are rope burns on her wrists. I know she fought back. The perp has
a black eye, a freshly broken nose, and two broken ribs. The rope burns
came because the perp tied her wrists together and then tied her wrists
to a sign post. I will have Dr. Twain talk with you first. She can fill
you in better than I can."
Dr. Twain came in. She said, "All I am waiting for is the pathology
reports on Belle and the perp. I checked for all the usual STDs on both
people as well as blood types, DNA, and semen. She can go home tomorrow.
There is one strange thing she mumbled when she was first brought in. It
was St. Joan please find Larry."
I did admit that was strange, but the Wellman clinic does get some help
from St. Joan. At that point WildBill came in and was barely being
controled by Deputies Henderson, Johnson, and Swenson. All three of them
could of went to the NFL or into Pro Wrestling with ease. Nicole said in
a firm but gentle voice, "Relax Bill. Just about everything that can be
done, has been done. The FlavinMooshBagger is in the morgue. Her doctor
is here. Hedi is here. Dr. Twain has set up a conselor for her in two
days. You are worth more for her here than in jail. Besides she is
asleep now."
WildBill seemed to calm down abit. He said, "Your right Nicole. All I
can do now is wait, pray, and be there for her when she wakes up."
A nurse came in and spoke with Dr. Twain. Dr. Twain said, "Belle is
awake now. She is asking for Larry. Does anybody know why?"
Larry said, "I think I do. I have been helping out at the Wellman
Clinic. I work with some of the kids who are brought in there. I bring
both Ziller and Kong with me. The kids seem to want to talk with me.
There is always a nurse or a doctor there when I do this. Belle knows
this. I see what she needs or wants."
We all went to Belle's room. Larry went with Dr. Twain. I went with
them. Bill wanted to come in as well as Jo and Hedi. Larry said, "Belle
this your call. Dr. Twain is here by your rules that you gave to me.
Anyone else you want here?"
I heard Belle say between gasps " Just Bobbie. I know Bill is here, but
I need him later. Hedi, this is a medical type interview. Bobbie can
brief both you and Jo on any legal stuff. Please take Bill to the
cafeteira for a large turkey sandwich and some lemon ade. Jo please go
with them. I know this is your case, but Bill is about ready to burst.
Please keep him calm. Tell him this is out of his league. I will send
for anyone else I need."
Then I saw Larry give Belle some water. Larry did ask " Why me ? There
is at least a dozen people better trained than me."
Belle said, "Yes that is true, but St. Joan wants you to do more for the
kids. She is testing you. She also liked that bit you did with that
Tasmanian Devil Doll. You got one scarced kid to open up and you let him
keep it."
Larry said, "It was the right thing to do. He was so scared, he was
catatonic. You are sounding a bit stronger Belle."
Belle giggled and said, "Thanks Larry, but you are a lousy BullShit
Artist. Now how will you do this?"
Larry said, "O. K. Belle, first let me take my shoes off. After that I
will sit on this over sized stool."
I saw Larry sit down and take off his shoes. Next he went to the Lotus
position. After that he pulled out his Rosary beads and a medal of St.
Joan and put them in his left hand. He told me later that the left hand
is closer to the heart. Larry said, "Alright Belle, please grasp my hand
and relax. If you want, you may close your eyes ."
I saw Belle do that. She did ask " Why this way?"
Larry said in a very gentle voice, "You have your ways. I have mine.
Plus this keeps me calm."
Then Larry went into a deep trance. Belle did start to relax. Then Larry
was covered in a strange series of lights and mists. Larry also looked
different. I thought I was seeing things. He kept switching from Laurie
to Larry without moving. Finaly the light show stopped. Larry was still
looking like Laurie. Dr. Twain led Larry to the other bed and said,
"Rest for now."
Larry had asked, "Why doctor ? I feel fine."
Then Belle said, "Larry, you do need the rest. I will help you with the
details later."
Larry said, "Alright Belle. Fourty winks does sound fine."
Belle smiled and said, "You will get used to it Larry. Dr. Twain. Please
send for Hedi and Jo. Bobbie remain here. Larry, are you still awake?"
Larry said, "Yes I am Belle. Is there something more you need?"
Belle said, "Yes there is. Tell Bobbie what happened."
Larry said, "O. K. Belle. Fair is fair. Bobbie it is like this. St. Joan
gave me a few gifts. She already gave me the means to take away pain
earlier. Now She allows me to change my form as needed. I also can
punish the attackers. I can do it the same way Belle can. I can heal
most of the wounds. There is a few restrictions. If I stay as Laurie for
a fortnight, I stay as Laurie. I cannot return anyone I didnot work
with. Also if I get pregnant, I stay as Laurie. The one upside is, since
I can get pregant, I have regained the ability to be a father. Belle
will work me so I can control my gifts. There are few more, but I will
tell you later. I know I must tell Helga. She has the right to know. Now
if you both can forgive me, I will take a nap."
Then Larry changed back to Larry and fell asleep.
Hedi and Jo came in. Belle gave a statement to Jo. Jo did say " We have
ID.ed the perp. He was Ed Cooper. He was a convicted rapist and child
molester. He beat a later charge on legal technicalities. He must of had
a run in with Belle, for this was a revenge type rape. He wanted to rape
and kill Belle. I am still giving Donna some time off. I want her to
learn that shooting someone, even when needed, it still sucks. I also
want her to see that if she didnot do it, a human would be dead no
matter what."
Before Belle could say anything, I said, "That is good Jo. If I caught
the guy, I would of wanted to have emptied my both my duty and off duty
guns at least twice into him. Bill would have turned him into a blood
smear. Sorry Belle, but that is how Bill and I feel. It is also the
price of my job. There are times when I cannot let my emotions rule me.
I would rather see this Flavin MooshBagger do twenty to life, then to
see him walk because of my personal feelings."
Belle said, "I know Bobbie. I know. Like Jo said, it still sucks. Tell
Donna I want to give her a Spa Fest. I know it won't solve anything, but
if it can ease her mind, then it is worth it. Now Bobbie, go get your
crazy ' Uncle ' and bring him and the rest of your gang here."
I went to do Belle's bidding. When we were all in the room, Belle said,
"Bill, I will want you to take me home when Dr. Twain says it is right.
Tonight, take both Hedi and Henry to their homes. Bobbie, take my car
and I will pick it up later. Helga, take Larry home to his bed. His
shoes are are under that stool. Jo, let Donna know she made a good call
and help her deal with this. Nicole, keep an eye on your brother for the
next week. He is going through some major life changes and will need
your support. I can only guide him so far. And yes, they are for the
better."
Helga said, "Belle, I will have to make a stop at Bobbie's place. I will
have to pick up Nicky and Helen."
I said, "Helga take one of our guest rooms . That way you and Larry can
get more rest."
Helga said, "Thank you Bobbie. I will take you up on your offer. I was
going ask Larry to cook you breakfast, but he looks like he aged twenty
years."
Belle said, "Larry will return to normal when he wakes up. It was a side
effect of him for helping me. I have had a few clients who's pain I took
from them. In most cases, I can dump the pain on their attackers. There
are a few who I couldnot send back their pain to their attacker. Larry
took that pain as well. I will help him with his control on that. Now
please let me sleep. Larry was right about one thing. Fourty winks does
sound good."
I said, "Thank you Belle. Now get some rest and get well. Thank you Dr.
Twain. Everybody, you are invited for a home cooked breakfast."
Dr. Twain said, "That sounds good, but I must pass. I have rounds both
here and at the Wellman."
Well with the exception of Belle and Dr. Twain, we all left the
hospital. I had the day off and we all slept in. Larry was all up for
cooking a pancake breakfast. I gave him a hand in the food prep. Larry
is a good cook, but with this job, he would need some help. Especially
since Henry, Hedi, Nicole, Jo, and Bill were coming. Larry like me, did
work the grill at the Ye Old Irish Inn. My stove is large for a
household, it is small compared to the grill at the Irish. Plus Larry
and I needed to get some stuff from the supermarket to make this work.
When we got back from the store, Barry had the coffee started. I did get
a good husband with Barry.
I turned on my oven on low. I could keep the food warm and still cook
the rest. Hedi and Henery arrived first. Hedi brought some good coffee
and Henry brought doughnuts. Nicole and Jo came in next. They brought a
basket of fresh fruit and jams. My ' Uncle ' Bill came with some fresh
fruit juice. He looked beat. I said, "Hey Uncle Bill, set down as I get
you a mug of coffee."
Bill said with a heavy voice " That sounds wonderfull. What's cooking?"
Larry said, "Bobbie is making the sausage and bacon. Barry is on the
electric skillet doing eggs to order. I am doing pancakes. There is
syrup, honey, and jams on the table. There is also fruit and choice of
beverage."
My Uncle said, "Sounds great. I am sorry if I look down. I didn't get
much sleep last night."
I said, "I know the feeling. I must of kept Barry up last night as
well."
Bill said, "Jo, thanks for allowing me to take Belle's car home last
night."
Jo said, "It was no problem. Belle's keys and purse are not evidence.
Besides you needed a way home."
Bill said, "Bobbie, I will tell Belle she has a week off. I want to be
sure that she can go back to work. I will let her conselor or doctor
tell me if she is ready. I don't want Belle to be her own client. When I
pick Belle up, please come with me."
I thought about for a short time. Then I said, "Alright. First we bring
her here. That way if she did not eat yet, she can have a chance."
My Uncle said, "That sounds good."
Just then then house phone rang. Barry's was in his den and made sure it
had a different ring tone to it. Barry said, "Honey, it is for you."
I took the phone. It was Dr. Twain. She said, "If your uncle is there,
tell him he can pick up your aunt now."
I said, "Alright Dr. Twain. I will tell him."
I told Bill and he had me do the driving. When we got to the hospital, I
parked in the pickup area. We went in and Dr. Twain had Belle waiting
for us. Belle did look like crap. I asked, "Aunt Belle, you look beat.
How do you feel?"
Belle smirked and said, "Like I look. Like crap. I am sore all over."
I told her, "Larry told me that you might feel that way."
Belle did say, "Well he would know."
We returned to my place. Bill did not let Belle walk alone. He let her
lean on him. I asked Belle " Did you eat yet ? Are you hungry?"
Belle said, "No I didnot eat yet. Yes a spot of food sounds good. What
is the menu?"
I told what Larry said earlier. Belle said, "Blueberry pancakes with Hot
Chocolate will be good."
Larry had whipped up a short stack of Blueberry pancakes for Belle and
had a mug of Hot Chocolate waiting for her in short order. He even had a
small bowl of mini marshmallows for her. Larry did say, "Wrap your hands
around the mug. It will be easier to hold and help loosen up your
fingers."
Belle said, "Thanks Larry. I am using heat wraps on my arms and legs.
Say this Hot Chocolate has a hint of cherries in it. How did you do
that?"
Larry said, "Old family secret."
Well after breakfast, Belle and Bill went to my couch. Larry said,
"Belle must have been hungry. She had three servings. Tell her later
that the reason the she tasted cherries, is becaused I laced her mug
with Kirschwasser."
I said, "I thought that was what you did. Her face does have more color
to it."
I went to the kitchen. I set two mugs of Hot Chocolate like Larry did. I
also made a whole pot like that. I left the mugs and pot with Bill and
Belle. Belle was in the bathroom when I left the tray. The tray also had
a bowl of the mini marshmallowes on it. Bill sipped from one of the
mugs." So that was what Larry did. He must of learned that one from
Herman. Now please help Larry in the kitchen," said Bill.
I went to the kitchen. Larry was loading the dishwasher. Barry was hand
washing the skillet and grill. I asked, "Is there any way I can help?"
Barry said, "Yes you can. Put away the leftovers. We have fixings for
pancakes and omlets for tomorrow."
I heard Bill and Belle talking from my couch. I knew they were cuddling.
This is what I heard. Belle said, "Bill both you and Bobbie are
wonderfull."
Bill said, "Thanks Belle Your one are a million."
Belle giggled and asked, "What is that in your jacket pocket?"
Bill pulled out a small box and said, "Just something I picked last
week."
Belle asked, "What is it?"
Bill said, "Just a little bobble that I planned to give you at Kobe's
Ichi Ban tonight. I was able to reservations two weeks ago."
Belle said, "Can I see it please?"
Bill just gave the box to her. Belle opened the box. She said, "Oh Bill
thank you. Yes I will. You just made this mess a whole lot easier to
deal with."
"You just get well my friend. We will deal with this like we do
everthing else. One day at a time."
I went to my rumpus room . Barry had the T. V. set up for the football
game. Salem State was playing to a sellout crowd. It was home coming
weekend. I asked, "Who will be driving?"
Jo said, "Helga and me. Helga wont be drinking because she is with
child. Nicole and did a coin toss with me. I loss. It will be her turn
next time. Both Henry and Hedi took cabs over here and said they take
cabs home or let me or Helga drive them."
I said, "Good. Now Larry, how did you get that Kirschwasser here ? The
liquor stores were not opened when we went to the supermarket."
Larry said, "I called Nicole. I asked her to bring both Helga and me a
change of clothing. I also asked her to bring the unopened bottle of
Kirschwasser that I had."
I said, "Alright now. With the exception of Helga and Jo. We will drink
a toast both Belle and Bill as soon as I can get a fresh batch that
stuff brewed. I am going to invite the both of them here to watch the
game."
I went and made a double batch of that Hot Chocolate. I poured both
Helga's and Jo's servings first. Then I added the Kirschwasser to the
pot. Then I went to get both Bill and Belle. I decided not to. They were
both asleep in each others arms on my couch. I thought it best to leave
them alone. I took the Hot Chocolate to the rumpus room. I served Helga
and Jo first. Then I served the rest. I said, "Both Bill and Belle are
asleep. But let us toast them anyway."
We all clinked our mugs and said, "Cheers to Bill and Belle."
Now to wrap this up. Belle did get back to almost normal. Larry is
working with the Wellman Clinic with the kids more. Bill and Belle did
make their wedding plans, but that is a tale for later.
