A BadMan's Revenge
William Bonnie gets revenge on Pat Garrett. This story takes place in
modern times.
I did get this from Hedi, Bobbie, Larry, Helga, Nicole, and Billy. I
hope you like it. Peace. Belle.
Pat Garrett was a mean person. Pat was the type of person who would
throw a sack of kittens or puppies in a river for laughs.
William or Billy as he was called, would fight when he had to. Billy
never went looking for trouble, but always caught the short end of the
stick.
Since Billy had little or no family and Pat came from a family of
influence, whenever Pat would mess with Billy, Billy was stuck out of
luck.
Thanks to Pat, Billy was out of a job, lost his home, his car, and his
girlfriend. Now poor Billy never had many friends. So when Billy lost
one, it hurt big time. Twice as much if it was a girl.
Billy was now forced to live in an old garage that was turned into a
studio apartment. It had three rooms with a bathroom and shower. While
the place had a hot water heater, it was too small to be of any use
other than shaving. The only luxury it had was an old but functional
coal stove in which Billy would use to help heat the place. He also
used it to remove some of his garbage. Pat slept in a poster bed with a
canopy. Billy slept on a sofa sleeper. (It was stuck in the sofa mode.)
It wasn't much, but it beat the streets.
Billy' new job was as a part time short order cook at a local diner.
The pay covered the rent and the electric bill. Billy had no phone, but
his landlord took messages for him.
Billy's "new" kitchen had a stove, a microwave, a refrigerator and an
old card table.
The refrigerator held very little food and some cold drinks. Billy ate
off of old plates and used flatware. Most of his meals were the food
that the diner had to get rid of. That usually meant day old pasta
salads and deli cuts that reached their use by date, when there was
any. Some times Billy lucked out and was able to bring home some
meatloaf or fried chicken and mashed potatoes. Most of the time, Billy
ate nothing.
But Billy did have at least two friends that could help him. They were
Larry Sargento and Bobbie Remington.
Billy met Bobbie through her husband's best friend Mark Taylor. Mark
sometimes would hire Billy for small work projects. The pay Billy got
from Mark helped out with the food bill and getting fuel for the coal
stove.
Billy knew Larry both from high school and through the Wellman Clinic.
Larry working with my guidance, had helped a relative of Billy's.
Larry also would call Billy to help him clear some of the properties
that Larry owned of dead wood. Larry would also send Billy any broken
pallets. The pallets were made of hard wood and between them and the
dead wood, Billy could heat his home.
Now one day Billy was limping home. The diner had sold most of it's
food and that meant Billy had no food to take home. Billy had resigned
his self to pick up bottles and cans for the deposits. With what he had
at his home, he could get some pasta shells, meat, cheese and sauce.
Billy had some canned beans, but that would not do. The beans would do
with rice and sauce, but Billy had no rice or sauce.
Larry was on his way to the redemption center when he saw Billy looking
for cans and bottles and coming up empty. Larry said, "Hey Billy. Come
over here."
Billy said, "Hey Larry. What's happing?"
Larry said, "I see you are getting slim pickings today."
"Yes I am, but with what I got here and at home, I can get by." said
Billy.
Larry said, "Okay Billy. But 'Kid' let me drop you off at the
redemption center and after that take you to my place for a home cooked
meal. Nicole is cooking tonight and she always cooks too much."
Billy smiled and said, "You are the one of the few people that I let
call me 'The Kid'. You called me that in high school after doing a
report on the old west era of the United States. It stuck on me with
Baseball. I wish I could have went on to college and have the pros take
a look see at my hitting and pitching."
Larry said, "If I did not do it, some else would of. If your last name
was Holiday, you might been called 'Doc'. But since your name is
William Bonnie, Billy The Kid comes to mind. You must admit, it is a
natural. Besides, you should of stayed as an outfielder. That way you
could play everyday."
Billy laughed and said, "Your right. Now I will take you up on your
offer. After all, a man can't eat his cooking every night."
Larry took Billy to his apartment and then to the redemption center.
While Billy was in the redemption center. Larry even let Billy take in
the bags that Larry had. Larry said, "Uh Billy, my cell phone just
rang. I keep it on vibrate mode. It is the brewery. I will take it as
you collect off the CanMan."
Billy agreed and while he was inside, Larry had really called home.
Larry explained everything to Helga and Nicole. Helga and Nicole were
all for it.
Well to speed things up, Larry took Billy to his house. Bobbie and
Barry were already there with Little Bill and Little Belle. Larry and
Billy walked in and Larry said, "Nicole is dinner ready yet?"
Nicole said, "No it is not. It will be ready in about one hour. I put
the Lasagna in ten minutes ago."
Larry said, "Okay Nicole. Barry can you meet Billy and me in my den?"
Barry said, "Sure. Billy looks like he is about to drop. His color
don't look too good. He should see a doctor."
Billy said, "With what money? I ain't got any insurance. And with what
is hurting me, any good doctor would ask questions and call the police.
I have done nothing wrong, but I don't need the police on my case. Uh
Larry can we watch the ballgame or something?"
Larry said, "Yes we can. Salem State is playing Oswego State in a
hockey game tonight. That game is on right now. Who wants what to
drink?"
Barry said, "I will stick to beer until dinner."
Billy said, "Water please. If it is not too much trouble."
Nicole asked, "Larry is your friend all right?"
Larry said, "No he is not Nicole. That is why I brought him here
tonight. I hoped that between you and Bobbie, that he would talk about
himself if he felt that if he could. Also ask Helga to take a look at
him. He needs a doctor. Helga can tell Billy what he needs with out
breaking the any rules, so as long as, she tells Billy to seek
treatment from a Human doctor. She is allowed to do minor First Aid and
treatment."
Nicole said, "Hey Bill, do you need or want anything special while we
while are waiting for the main course to cook?"
While Nicole said this, she was stroking Billy's hair. Billy did say,
"No, just water. It is very hot in here."
Nicole said, "Don't worry Bill, I will leave some beer for Barry and my
goofy brother. I will return with cool water for you."
Ten minutes later Nicole came back with a small cart that held a six
pack of beer on ice, three frosted glasses, a large bowl, two small
towels and two pitchers of water. One of the water pitchers had ice in
them. Nicole had sat down by Billy. She had given Billy a large glass
of ice water. While Billy was sipping the water, Nicole had poured some
of the other water into the bowl and had undone Billy's shirt. Nicole
was wiping down Billy's torso and placed the other towel a cold
compress on Billy's forehead. As Nicole was wiping down Billy, she
signaled Larry by way of American Sign Language, to get Helga. Both
Larry and Nicole knew ASL. Billy did say, "Thank you Nicole. That does
feel good. Please don't stop."
Nicole giggled and said, "Easy now Bill. I am just helping you cool
down a bit. You are running a very high fever."
Helga came in and said, "Alright now Bill, I am going to remove your
shirt just a bit more. Now what is this here? I can count your ribs. I
see you have two broken ones and something embedded just under your
heart and another right below the first fragment. You have been
carrying this garbage in you for at least three days now. The infection
of your wounds is at least that old. Who you get into a fight with in
the last week?"
Billy asked, "Are you a cop of some type?"
Helga said, "No I am not. I am your friendly old fashioned horse
doctor. And before you ask, I cannot help you beyond the simple stuff.
You need to see an MD and not a DVM."
Billy said, "The police would not listen me."
Nicole said, "Give us a chance Bill. Please. We do listen at times."
Billy said, "I was jumped by Pat Garrett. He sent two of his thugs to
rough me up. He had them claim I was trespassing. I was grabbing coal
that fell onto the street from passing trains on the Glenwood Ave.
overpass. If you get there at the right time, you can get some good
lumps."
Nicole said, "I know. There is the same problem at the Beechwood over
pass. A lot of the low income families will have someone sit there to
get the dropped coal. A laundry bag full of coal could heat a small
house for a day. It is public property. Pat's family might own the rail
line, but not Glenwood Ave. or Beechwood Ave. Both the Police and
Sheriff's Departments know that Garrett's people try to keep that coal
from being used by low income families. One of Garrett's workers lost
his job. He lost it due to the fact he would collect the coal himself.
He would use some of it for himself and sell the rest at very low
rates. I found out he was only charging for the price of the burlap
bags that he bought. In some cases, he just gave it away. I would agree
with the Garrett clan if the coal was on the railroad right of way, but
not on a public street or highway."
Billy asked, "How do you know this Nicole?"
Nicole said, "I am a Sergeant on the Salem Sheriff's Department Bill. I
know you have done nothing. Don't be mad at Larry. By now, he has
called Hedi and asked her to give you some legal help. Hedi will do so.
Now there is one more person you need to see tonight Bill."
Billy asked, "Who is that?"
Nicole said, "Dr. Marsha Twain. Right now Dr. Twain is in Helga's
clinic."
Billy said, "Okay lead me to her. And thank you for calling me Bill. I
did not tell Larry that today was my last day cooking at Jack's Diner.
Pat Garrett told Jack to fire me or lose his diner. I over heard Pat
saying that. I decked Pat and told him that he best start cooking. I
told Jack that I was sorry but I can't let you lose your meal ticket. I
quit."
Nicole said, "Don't worry on that score. Jack's Drive In is a good
place for coffee and eggs in the AM or a burger in the afternoon. Some
of the Deputies noticed the change. Pat had a pair of fives against a
Straight Flush. If Jack won't hire you back, I know at least two people
who will give you a job as a cook."
Billy said, "Sounds good Nicole. Thank you again."
Nicole led Billy to Helga's clinic. Dr. Twain said, "Hello Bill. May I
take a look at you?"
Billy said, "Alright Sawbones. Take a look."
Dr. Twain looked at Billy. She deftly removed the two objects. After
that she cleaned and stitched the wounds closed. Then taped his ribs.
She said, "Helga, you could of pulled this stuff out of Bill here. I am
giving Bill some antibiotics and a mild painkiller. If he has any
discomfort, he can call me. Now let's eat some dinner. Bill looks like
he should eat for a week."
After the meal was done and the dishes were cleared Larry told Nicole
to take Billy home.
Larry said, "Nicole please use my car. I put some extra stove wood in
the back for Billy. Helga did leave some bandages so he can change the
ones he has on now. We also threw in a half pan of the Lasagna and some
Garlic toast. Helga wanted to add some wine, but Billy won't drink any
thing but water, fruit juice or milk. So she put in a batch of beef
stew and rolls instead. "
Nicole agreed with Larry. It was a good thing she did. When Nicole got
Billy to his home at 442 Glenwood Ave., Jo Friday was there along with
four other cars of the Salem Police Department. Nicole asked, "Hey Jo.
What is the deal here?"
Jo said, "Oh hi Nicole. We have got a Mr. William Bonnie in his home.
He is accused shooting up Pat Garrett's car and pool hall. No one was
hurt."
Nicole asked, "Jo, just when did this go down?"
Jo said, "Two hours ago. Why do you know something Nicole?"
Nicole said, "Yes I do. Bill did not do it. He was at my brother's
place for supper tonight. Some of the other guests included Bobbie
Winston and Dr. Marsha Twain."
Jo said, "That is good enough for me to send everyone back to work. I
will search the place to be sure that his firearms were not used."
Nicole let Billy lead her inside with Jo. Billy first put away the food
stuff, then the wood and after that had Nicole put a large pot of water
over the coal stove. Then Billy unlocked the closet where he kept his
gun locker. The gun locker was unlocked and Jo found all three guns
that Billy owned locked in place with cables preventing the guns from
being used. They also were coated with dust. Jo said, "Thank you Mr.
Bonnie. Please relock your guns up. I know they were not used for at
least a month."
Billy then lit a fire in his coal stove. He then said, "Nicole you are
restrained by the laws of man. Even if you know someone who is breaking
a law but is hiding behind a loophole. You must hate it when must let a
guilty man walk on a rule of law that allows him to go free."
Nicole said, "No I don't. I would like to see the guilty pay. But not
at sake of the innocent. If we did otherwise, we would become our own
worse enemy."
Billy said, "Good. Now tell me who will hire me and set me up for some
interviews. I don't care where I work, I just need work."
Nicole said, "I can understand that Bill."
Billy said, "There is one thing I will ask you right now."
Nicole said, "What is that Bill? You have dark look on you right now."
Billy said, "Just forgive me. I have a way to strike back at Pat. He
will not be harmed, but his mind will see things from another angle. I
will not take anything from him, even the things he took from me. But
he will pay."
Nicole asked, "Is what your planning somehow against the law?"
Billy said, "No it is not. Now please grant me two small favors."
Nicole asked, "What are they Bill?"
Billy said, "First take these two bottles of home made Dandelion Wine
to your brother. I do drink, but when money is tight, a loaf of bread
and a brick of cheese means more than some beer or wine."
Nicole said, "Okay then what is the other one?"
Billy said as he kissed her on her forehead, "Just this."
Nicole smiled and said, "The next time you kiss me, do it like this."
Then Nicole kissed Billy on the lips fully. After that, Nicole left.
Billy smiled to himself as he went back to the same room where he kept
his guns. In his wall safe was a large coin. It was the same size of an
old fashioned Silver Dollar. This coin was no ordinary coin. It was a
wish coin from Spells R Us. This wish coin was in Billy's family for at
least four generations. This was the first time that Billy used the
coin. He called the coin's spirit. The Spirit came forth. The Spirit
said, "Well young Mortal, this the first time you have called for me.
You must be in great need, for you have a way of solving your own
problems for your self. Now what is your bidding?"
Billy thought about it. Then he said, "Make the one who wronged me the
most, pay for his misdeeds. Only a full confession can release him."
The Spirit asked, "Not his death or the love of a woman? Not what he
took from you? Just to admit his guilt? You do have a strange wish, but
it will be done."
Billy said, "I must tell you why. To kill him will be wrong. To take
from him will be wrong, even though he bent the rules to take from me.
A love spell I must weave myself. I must charm a mate by my own means.
That love must be of her own will. I think that spell has been cast by
both her and me. I just want the one who wronged me to admit his
guilt."
The Spirit said, "That shall be done. Only a full contrite admission of
guilt to the powers that be, will return your enemy to his original
form."
Billy said, "I also do not want an innocent being harmed by this."
The Spirit said, "That is part of the code."
Billy said, "Thank you kind Spirit."
Two days later, Nicole knocked on Billy's door. She was in her civilian
clothing. She said, "Hello Bill. Pat Garrett is missing. Do you know
anything about it?"
Billy said, "No I do not. I checked out some jobs and was hired to be a
fork truck driver yesterday at the brewery. I start training today."
Nicole said, "That is very good. Now meet me for dinner tonight. You
can buy later. Tonight is my treat. How does Kobe's sound?"
Billy said, "Very good. When I get the chance, I would like to take you
to Giordino's."
Nicole was out of her mind in awe. She asked, "How can you do that?
That place has a long waiting list."
Billy said, "It is easy when the owner is an old service buddy who owes
you a few favors. Al and I go way back. Plus the fact I helped set up
his Dandelion wine shop. I used his father's recipe for both the shop
and my own use."
Nicole said, "Your on Bill. Larry loved the stuff you sent him. I must
admit one thing. It tasted almost like my Grandfather's version."
Billy said, "Thank you Nicole."
Later that night while at dinner, a half starved waif of a woman came
at Nicole and Billy. She claimed her name was Pat Garrett and her
family threw her out. With her was Pat's head thug John Mazzella. Billy
asked, "How can we help you Trica?"
Trica said, "Change me back. My family does not believe me. They think
I am a cheap trollop that I would pick up for a quickie."
Billy said, "I am sorry dear lady, but today is the first time I saw
you. Now if you need work, I am sure the owner will hire you or maybe
William Wallace could give you a job."
Nicole said, "I know Pat Garrett. He is tall and big boned. You are my
height and a medium build, but with Pat's hair color. A little more
meat on your bones and better hair styling, you could be a knock out."
At this point John grabbed Billy and pulled out his sidearm and said,
"Listen you freak. Change back my buddy."
Nicole said, "Put your toy away or I will remove you myself." Nicole
was holding her.44-40 six shooter.
Trica said, "Do as she says John. She works for the Sheriff's
Department."
John said, "If I don't?"
Nicole said, "Your dead or in jail for twenty years. I can do both. I
rather you put away your toy, Boy."
John said, "Well you little dyke, I don't think you can."
Billy said, "Hey John. Do you wish to become Joan?"
John looked down and saw that Billy had a steak knife on his balls.
John said, "This here is a Walther PPK. I can take both you and your
dyke friend on."
Billy laughed and said, "Yes you might. But at what cost? My friend
shoots you or I remove what little manhood you have. Shoot her and you
will bleed to death before the Medics can get to you. Shoot me and my
friend will have placed at least five shots in your heart before you
can turn. Your girl friend will also get shot to death. You lose no
matter what."
Trica then said with fear in her voice. "John put away that gun! He has
you out classed! We need his help and not his anger! Do it now! I do
not want to remain like this for the rest of my life!"
John let go of Billy and holstered his gun. Billy asked, "Trica, what
do you mean the rest of your life?"
Pat said, "I was told I had to confess my guilt or remain as I am. Also
if I was made pregnant, I would remain as I am. But I did not do
anything. However John has been 'doing' me three times a day. Help me
not get pregnant and to return to my old self."
Nicole said, "Uh Bill, what is she babbling about?"
Billy said, "Nicole it is like this. I made a wish. I wished for Pat to
admit his guilt to the powers that be. I guess that they decided if Pat
got with child, the change would hurt an innocent being. I told them
that I did not want an innocent being hurt.
"Trica, I do not know of your cycles. But if I was you, I would come
clean real soon. The powers that made you like this, could have also
made it possible for you to become pregnant at faster rate than a
normal human female. So if I were you, I would take a good long think
session on your past and your options."
Nicole said, "I do remember a strange coin in your gun locker. Does
that coin have anything to do with this?"
Billy said, "Yes it does Nicole."
Nicole thought for awhile. Then she said, "I know of that type of coin
Trica. I would suggest that you do what Bill has told you to do. There
may a time limit on it that Bill does not know about. My friend Bobbie
had told me about Spells R Us products. They can be very unusual about
how they work. I think that Bill has let you off light. However if you
do get stuck like you are, Bill Wallace or Herman Hessman might take
you as a waitress until you can make your family see that you are who
you say you are. That of course might take a long time. I do know that
there is a place at 442 Glenwood Ave. that will be open in three days."
Billy in wonderment, said, "How do you know that Nicole?"
Nicole said, "It will take that long for your things to be placed in my
home. Besides, I do not want my man to do his laundry in a kitchen sink
and dry his things over a coal stove.
"John you best take care of Trica. While Bill will leave you fuel for
the coal stove for a short time, you will have to scramble to beat that
snowstorm that is coming. I hear it will be a killer. And John, you
will have find a new job. You are not suited for the job that you have
now. I will have your guard ticket pulled. Both Mr. Wallace and Mr.
Hessman need a janitor at the brewery. I will ask them both to have you
clean the rest rooms and locker rooms. Anything else Bill?"
Billy said, "No Nicole. However, they will be welcome to my dishes,
flatware and furniture. With the exception of the plates, everything
else was there when I moved in. So I guess it is right that I leave
that stuff there."
A week later, in front of the fireplace at Larry's home, this story was
passed to me. We were all there watching some of the NFL playoff games.
The Bill's did not make it this year. Bummer. Billy had Nicole cuddling
with him and I was about to leave when St Joan came forth. Nicole and
Billy could see and hear her. St Joan said, "Well young William. I see
your wish came to its proper ending."
Billy asked, "How is that Maam?"
St Joan said, "Pat or should I say Trica did admit her guilt of what
she done to you and others. However the Spirit that is lodged in the
coin could not change her back. Your request that no innocent beings be
hurt, had sealed Trica's fate."
Nicole asked, "Why is that?"
St Joan said, "Her friend John, made her with child. He also left her.
She was sobbing in a church when she spoke of her acts to me. The
Spirit that was in the coin was about to change her back to her old
form when the Spirit saw that Trica was with child. I will allow her
family to accept her. William's wish did say that he wanted nothing
from Pat except for Pat to admit that Pat was wrong."
Billy said, "Thank you Maam. Can John be punished? Pat for all his
wrong doings did have one rule that he did not break. Pat did father
two children. He did set up educational trust funds for them and did
pay for their up bringing. He also did visit them on a regular basis."
St Joan said, "They will know that their father loved them and their
Aunt Trica will be there for them."
With that St Joan left us.
