Life Goes On.
This tale concerens both Larry and Nicole and how their life goes on
One day Nicole limped into my office. I had her sit down. I asked, her
"Nicole, how are you feeling today?"
Nicole said, "Physcally I am fine as can to be expected, but my mind is
burnt out. I am out of a job, and my only income is the rent I get off my
house. Larry wont charge me rent and I am giving Larry and Helga some
more babysitting time. I have also have taken over more of the cooking
and house keeping factors. I know I dont have to, but it helps me as well
as Helga and Larry. "
I asked, "Nicole does your place have its own kitchen?"
Nicole said, "Yes it does, but I hate eatting alone. Even though I live
with Bill Bonnie, I still find it easier to cook for four to eight people
than for one or two."
I said, "I think I see. Nicole I was about to send out for lunch. Do you
want anything?"
Nicole said, "If you are calling Hogan's Deli, I will take a Roast Beef
Hero with spinach, horse radish, and hot peppers. Tell them it is for it
is for me. They used to make it for me when was on the department and
some of my former coworkers still like them."
I said, "Sounds good. I will get two. Do you want anything to drink?"
Nicole said, "I will take a cold beer if you have any."
I served Nicole a beer. Shortly after getting a beer for myself, I heard
a knock on my door. It was Larry. He a large basket in one hand and a
case of beer in the other. Larrry asked, "Is this a bad time Belle? I can
leave the beer and food and come back later." (The beer was a test
product.)
I said, "Please stay Larry. Also go and get some plates, flatware, and
napkins from the cafetiera."
Nicole said, "I can smell some sort of soup. What else is in there? Where
is it from?"
Larry said, "Two places. The hero and deli sandwichs with potatochips,
pickles, and cole slaw are from Hogan's Deli. The soup is from WildBill
for you to test Belle.I best grab a few bowls as well."
I unpacked the basket and found all the food was there. I put the beer in
the refrierator that I have in my office. I saw that WildBill had added
some oyster crackers and a ladle. The basket did come from Hogan's Deli.
It had a small stack of plastic plates. Larry returned with the bowls,
plates, napkins, and flatwear. At the same time that Larry came back, my
order from Hogan's Deli came in. I said, "I already called them Larry and
it was to late to cancel the order."
Larry laughed slightly and said, "Thats OK Belle. What we donot eat, the
staff or clients can have."
I thought for a moment. Then I asked, "Larry, how are you feeling today?"
Larry quipped "With my hands."
Nicole said, "You have been letting Bobbie to influence your humor too
much."
Larry did say "As far as my body goes, I fine. But, I am burnt out
meantlly."
I asked, "Why is that Larry?"
Larry said, with tears forming "I feel that I broke my word to Nicole,
Helga, my mother, and my faith. Part of me knows that this is false, but
it is how I feel."
Nicole said, "Larry. I didnot like what happened as well. We were forced.
We were made to serve the sadistic needs of of two bitches."
Larry said, "I know Nicole. If your Bill didnot shoot them, we both might
be dead."
I knew it was time to take a hand here. I said, "Larry, Nicole. Please
sit on my lap."
They did so. As they sat on my lap, I hugged them both. Then I said, "I
know you both need help. I am here for you. I also know that both of you
didnot want what happened to you to happen. I can help you. But for now,
lets eat a good lunch. Larry, I understand how you feel. Nicole, Larry's
want to take your pain on this, was an act of full contrition."
I did have plans to help both Larry and Nicole. I was recieving reports
from their doctors. I liked the news I was hearing. All of a sudden, I
heard Nicole exclaim "Wow ! This soup tastes like a pizza!"
I tried some of the soup. It did taste like a pizza. I said, "Larry, I
must tell Wild Bill to put this on the menu. It tastes great. Maybe he
shoud put this in a bread bowl."
Larry said, "I know. Just add some cheese and it is really great."
Nicole asked, "Larry, are you ready for tonight? The Sheriff's Department
is happy that you are willing to help them out for the D. A. R. E.
Program and the Fresh Air Program."
Larry said, "It is no problem. I have a few new songs and a two new
outfits. One will look great on you."
Lunch was shortly over and I let Nicole take the heros home. Nicole had
stayed for Larry.Larry dealt with two clients and I had my own work to
do. After that, Larry let Nicole drive him home. ( Nicole came by cab. )
Later that night, Larry did his Laurie act. Larry as Laurie, did a good
set . The goal was reached. Nicole had conned Larry into wearing a
matching outfit. They looked like twin sisters. I thought it was a good
gag. Bobbie had pulled Larry over thinking he was Nicole. She said,
"Nicole, I wish you take the 911 center job. I know Larry thinks you can
get back on patrol with rehab, but this will be a paycheck for you at
your old pay rate. Andy also wants you to help teach some of classes."
Larry giggled. Then said, "I would, but don't you think you should tell
Nicole?"
Bobbie laughed and said, "Larry you are a fink. I forgot how good your
Laurie act is. Now get your sister over here."
Nicole came over to Bobbie. I knew the two of them were planning my
shower. Barry and Larry were setting Wild Bill up for a Bachelor Party. I
wanted them to keep it simple. If their plans got to out of hand, I will
tellBill to get Rev. Sloan and marry us on the spot. Bobbie was having a
talk with Nicole. Bobbie asked, "Nicole is your case going?"
Nicole said, "It was turned down. The reviewer does not think that I was
hurt on the job. He thinks it was self inflicted."
Bobbie said, "That is false. Dr. Twain and Dr.Jackson have confirmed
that. Who is reviewing your case?"
Nicole was upset. She said, "Seth Shanks."
Bobbie said, "Send Hedi after him. She will send him packing on that sway
back mare of his."
Nicole laughed a bit. Then she said, "Do you want hear something funny?"
Bobbie said, "Sure I do."
Nicole said, "It is how come almost everyone calls Heidi, Hedi."
Bobbie said, "Well why is that?"
Nicole said, "When Howie was learning to talk, he kept calling Heidi,
Hedi. It has stuck on her till this day."
Well I had to admit, that was a little funny. Well three days later, I
had dinner invite from Nicole. She also called Bobbie and Barry. I went
there there with Wild Bill. He brought a large pot of his pizza soup with
bread bowls. Nicole was serving a Crown Roast of Pork. She wanted to do a
lamb crown roast, but a local farmer had slaughtered a large hog and gave
all the ribs to thank Helga for pulling his prize dairy herd through a
major crisis. The loss of the dairy herd would have bankrupted the
farmer. The other rack of ribs Helga asked, Larry to Bar B Que for the
4th of July. Nicole was actting mad at both her brother and Bill Bonnie.
I knew she was in truth, proud of them. I had to ask "What is the deal
with Larry and Billy Nicole?"
Nicole said, "Both of them trashed Harry's Bar. They also forced it to
close."
Wild Bill asked, "How did they do that?"
Billy said, "I best tell it Nicole. Larry and I went to Harry's to shoot
darts. Larry ordered a pitcher of Black Knight's Ale. The waitress did
pull on the tap marked as Black Knight's Ale but Skunk Club beer came
out. Larry spotted the difference and asked, to see the owner. The owner
claimed that was Black Knight's Ale. Judge Stone told Harry, that Larry
could spot the difference blindfolded. Harry and four of his buddies
tried beat up Larry and me. They all lost. It turned out that Harry would
not let let anyone but him to change the kegs. Harry had placed Skunk
Club Beer on all the taps. He would charge top level prices off a bargin
basement beer. Judge Anthony has closed Harry's Bar pending further
review. Harrry wanted to press charges on Larry and me, but Judge Stone
told Judge Anthony all that went on there. Judge Stone is retired off the
bench and still does pratice law on a part time basis."
Nicole said, "You left out the best part Bill."
Billy said, "I was getting to it Nicole. Seth Shanks and his oldest son
along with Harry, tried to take on Larry. Larry grabbed both Seth and
Harry and banged their heads together. Larry tossed Harry into the mens
room and Seth out the front door. Then he dropped Seth's son with a
series of left jabs and couple of right hooks. Both Seth and his son left
on that sway back mare of Seth's."
Wild Bill asked, "Is that the son who was an All State Wrestler?"
Billy said, "Yes he was. Larry took him out fair and square."
Larry said, "Now Nicole, I hear you have some good news."
Nicole said, "Yes I do. It is two things. First is that Seth's boss
looked at my case and over turned Seth's ruling on my disability case.
The other is I start at the 911 center on Monday. It will be great to
have money coming in again."
I said, "Nicole I was talking to Scotty today."
Nicole asked, "How is ' Uncle ' Monty doing?"
I said, "He is doing great. He wants to have both you and Larry up in
Oswego for some salmon fishing. He said, to come in Mid May. He also
said, to bring Helga and Billy."
Larry said, "Sounds good. Nicky and Helen like riding on Nicole's old
trawler. Ziller and Kong like Scotty."
Nicole said, "I will talk to ' Uncle ' Monty tomorrow."
Larry said, "I been hearing alot of good words about Billy in the ware
house. The supervisors let him load the most fragile loads over some more
senior workers. How is that Billy?"
Billy said, "That is easy. When I was in the Navy, one of my jobs was to
load bombs and missles on the ships. You don't make too many mistakes
with a job like that."
Nicole asked, "How much is too many?"
Billy said, "One."
We all laughed.
Well the meal was fantastic. Nicole had everything just right. I had to
admit that Nicole and Larry were trying to get back on track with life.
They were also trying to come to terms with themseleves and each other.
Larry was talking to his priest. Nicole was talking with Dr. Twain. Billy
Bonnie was also taking Cataclysm Classes. Billy was a Protestant, but was
willing to go to with Nicole to Church.
Well this tale has been told. Larry and Nicole wish you all peace.
