Awaking Chapter 5: The Plan
Barb and Carrie left the warehouse, both lost within there own thoughts.
"Let's head to my house for some lunch and we can talk this through," Carrie
suggested.
Barbara glanced at the LCD display on the CD changer, "Dam, look at the
time," she said in surprise.
It was after 1:00 PM, the girls had been in the warehouse almost 3 hours.
Barbara drove in silence, her brain franticly trying to sort and decipher
the last 48 hours. Twenty minutes later Barbara pulled into Carrie's
driveway. Carrie lived in a secluded private community not far from Barb and
Colin's house. The house was hedged in privacy by the surrounding shrubs and
trees sitting back from the road.
The girls made their way into the kitchen, Barbara taking a seat at the
breakfast bar still lost in thought. Carrie quickly got busy throwing a
salad together and setting it on the countertop. Carrie placed two wine
glasses on the counter next to the salad and filled them with a white wine.
"Ok girl friend, you have been pretty dam quite since we left the warehouse,
what's up?" Carrie asked.
The concern in Barbara's voice was apparent, "What happens if this all blows
up in my face?"
"What's the worst that can happen?" Carrie asked. "The stuff is delivered,
and then what? Colin gets upset at whom? Not you if anybody it will be Mary,
remember she is the one that is sending this stuff to Colin. You're off the
hook all the way," Carrie said with a smile. "The problem is how do we give
your husband enough time to explore what's in the boxes without the
possibility of being caught?"
"I've been thinking about that," Barb said with a sly smile. "What I think I
will do is tell Colin that I'm scheduled to go to Vancouver with my boss for
a convention, there is one going on this weekend, but I had decided not to
go. Colin won't know any different and I'll tell him I'll be back late on
Sunday afternoon. Then I'll come over here and we can watch through the
security systems, if I can get it to work," Barb explained to Carrie. "Where
is your computer? I think I have the web address and the password," Barb
said as she opened her purse and looked for her address book.
Carrie quickly brought out her laptop, "I love my wireless connection," she
said as she powered up the laptop.
Barbara dug through her purse, finding her address book she quickly flipped
through it until she found what she was looking for. Typing in the web
address brought up the secure page to access the security system that had
been installed in the house by the original owners. Barbara typed in her
password, hoping that it still allowed her access. She had maybe used it
once or twice in the ten years they lived in the house. The main menu
opened.
"I'm in," she said with excitement, "now let's see if I can find where to
turn on the cameras."
"Why did you ever turn them off?" Carrie asked.
"It was kind of freaky to tell you the truth, Colin and I were making love
one night and I got up to get a drink of water and discovered the cameras on
and that we had just made a porno movie. We played around a couple of times
but it bothered me so much I had Colin turn it off," Barb confessed.
Barbara navigated through the menus until she got to the setup menu. "There
it is," she said with excitement.
Barbara brought up the menu page, the page showed placement for four cameras
across the page and five rows down for twenty cameras within the house.
Barbara quickly scanned the menu options and selected the option that
enabled all cameras. The system prompted her for audio, which she selected.
The screen refreshed and all twenty cameras displayed video within the
house. Halfway down the page the girls could see Colin, sitting at the
kitchen counter.
"There he is," Barbara said with a smile. "Let's see how good these cameras
are," as she double clicked on the small 2 inch picture. The screen expanded
to a single camera, Colin sitting at the breakfast counter could be seen
clearly, he appeared to be reading a magazine.
Both girls jumped as the phone rang within the house. They watched as Colin
got up, walked over, and answered the kitchen wall phone. The girls listend
while Colin apparently talked with his boss.
"Hey Jerry, what's going on?" Colin asked. The conversation centered on when
Colin was coming back to work. It seemed that Colin's boss was extremely
pleased with his work in London and was giving Colin a week off.
"Ok Jerry, I appreciate the time off and I'll see you a week from Monday,"
Colin said as he finished the conversation and returned the phone to its
cradle. Walking back to the counter Colin placed the magazine face down on
the counter and continued into the kitchen, apparently heading for the
bathroom.
"Oh my God," Barb exclaimed. "Look what he's reading," as she zoomed in on
the front cover of the magazine lying on the counter. It was the Baby
catalog from Mary's store.
"Still think this is a bad idea"? Carrie laughed. "And now you have a week
to make it work," she said referring to the phone conversation between Colin
and his boss.
Barb's mind was spinning with ideas. "I have an idea that might work," Barb
said in a rush. Barb grabbed her cell phone and called the restaurant. After
a quite conversation with her boss explaining that she wanted to surprise
her husband, she hung up the phone with a sly grin on her face.
"Ok here's the deal," she said, the excitement barely contained in her
voice. "In a few minutes my boss will be calling the house. She will ask for
me and then pass on a reminder for me that we are scheduled to attend a
hotel and restaurant show in Vancouver this weekend. That I'm to meet her in
the morning at the restaurant and that she would drive. I'll explain to
Colin that I had forgotten and that we will be back late Sunday afternoon.
That will give him the feeling that he is safe from discovery all weekend,"
she said with glee in her voice.
"Girlfriend you are wicked," Carrie said with a laugh. The girls had another
glass of wine and spent the next hour making sure all the cameras were
working. They even spent some time making sure that they could record and
playback any pictures or video that they had captured. With the plans in
place and everything, working Barb headed home, promising Carrie she would
be back around 9:00 AM the next day.
The evening seemed to drag on for both Barb and Carrie, Barb made a light
dinner for her and Colin, and they enjoyed each other's company. They made
slow passionate love that night, cuddling with each other as the drifted off
to sleep.
