The afternoon sun shone brightly into the large kitchen. A middle aged
woman dressed in golf attire was talking on the phone. Her husband, also
in golf attire, sat at the kitchen table sipping a light beer from a
frosty mug.
"Who is it, Helen?" he asked.
"It's Monica. She came home and found that good for nothing husband of
hers in bed with some floozy from the club."
"Oh jeeze, I knew it would happen sooner or later."
The woman burst into tears, talked a few more minutes, hung up and sat
down next to her husband. Tears streamed down her face. "Monica doesn't
deserve this. She is a good mother and wife. She has put up with his
antics for almost four years and two children."
"What is she doing now?"
"I told her to pack up her things and the kids and move in here for the
time being."
"Call her back. The last thing you want her to do is walk out on him.
He's the one with the problem. You don't want her to give up rights to
the house. Just tell her to come over here and bring the kids."
The woman got up and called her daughter. "Monica. Don't pack anything.
Just bring the kids over here. ... Well put the clothes back in the
drawer. ... Your father will explain what to do when you get here."
Bill stood up and hugged his wife, Helen.
In less than an hour Monica let herself in the front door. With one hand
she held the hand of a toddler and carried a baby with the other. She
wore no make up but tear-streaks still showed on her cheeks.
The toddler ran across the spacious entry hall to his grandfather. Monica
held the baby as she hugged her mother.
"Now, now don't cry come into the kitchen and tell us what happened."
They went into the kitchen where her father put a cold beer in front of
Monica and sat down. Monica related the story to her parents. The
visiting team had not shown up for the tennis competition at the club. So
she went home. Obviously her husband Ken hadn't expected her home that
early. Monica found him on top of a red head in their bed. She had
screamed and shouted the whole time as the woman hastily pulled on her
clothes. Ken had tried to defend himself and apologized but to no avail.
He left with the red head in his car. Monica had called her mother and
that was that.
"Where is Ken now?" her father asked.
"I don't know and I really don't care. I never want to see him again. You
were right he is a bum. He married me for my money. I have put up with
abuse for as long as I can stand it," Monica replied.
"Abuse," Bill replied. "Has Ken ever hit you or the children?"
"He never hit the children but he has hit me a few times."
"Why didn't you ever tell us?" her mother asked.
"I guess I was embarrassed."
Bill looked his daughter in the eye and asked, "Do you want to stay
married to Ken?"
"No, daddy."
"What do you want to do?"
"I would kill him if I could," Monica cried.
"I certainly can understand that," her father replied.
Monica and her parents talked for quite a while. It was decided that
Monica should go back home. And when Ken called or came back home she
should accept his apologies but tell him to sleep on the couch for a
while. She should not tell him she talked to her parents and talk to him
as little as possible. Then on Friday Ken, Monica and the kids should
come over to her parent's house for dinner. And make sure Ken drives his
car.
Friday evening Ken, Monica and the kids arrived at her parent's home a
little before five o'clock. Bill invited Ken out to the patio behind the
house. Bill fired up the gas grill and went behind the built in bar and
got two beers. He poured Ken's into a chilled mug and then did the same
for himself.
"Sit down Ken," Bill said motioning to a comfortable patio chair.
Ken had said very little. Bill acted as if nothing had happened. "Well,
how's life treating you Ken. Anything going on with that business you
were going to start?"
Ken described some things he had done, people he had talked to, and
general small talk, all the while drinking his beer. He was almost done
with the beer when he looked at Bill with a blank face, dropped his beer
mug, as his head fell with his chin on his chest.
Bill got up, picked up the beer mug, and went to the bar. From behind the
bar he pulled out a hypodermic needle and walked back to Ken who was
still slumped in his chair. Bill grabbed his right arm and injected the
clear liquid into his upper arm.
"Helen, Ken is taken care of. I need your help."
Helen appeared at the door to the patio with a wheel chair. Bill and
Helen transferred Ken from the furniture to the wheel chair and then Bill
wheeled the unconscious Ken back into the house.
"Daddy, is he alright?" Monica asked.
"Oh, he is just fine. He doesn't feel a thing and he won't for some time.
Would you like to kiss him good-bye or anything?"
"No. I guess not."
"We'll take good care of him. Don't worry. He is going to be living in a
dream world from now on. He will never give you or the kids a hard time
and he will never cause another woman any sorrow or pain either."
"Come dear", Helen said. "Get the kids and I will drive you all back home
.We need to leave Ken's car here." Turning to Bill Helen said, "I'll see
you at the clinic in about an hour."
Bill and Helen are both medical doctors. Thirty years ago they had opened
a plastic surgery clinic and then expanded to five clinics. Neither did
many surgeries any more, they made more money running the business. They
have done very well financially and live in a very large home on five
acres of land in the hills above the city. Tonight they were going back
in the operating room together for the first time more than ten years.
Bill had borrowed a wheel chair capable van from the clinic for the
weekend. He used it to transport Ken. The clinic was closed and no one
from the day staff was around. Once inside Helen helped him get Ken up on
to a gurney and then on to the operating table. The plan was simple. Ken
was going to loose the capability of having sex with any one ever again.
Bill and Helen did more that a simple castration. They removed Ken's
penis and scrotum leaving him with a smooth crotch, with only an opening
for his urinary canal. He had no sex organs at all. When they were done
there was a single line of stitches down the middle of his crotch.
Then they drilled two small holes through his skull, one on the right and
one on the left, and used a liposuction tool to suck out a small part of
his frontal lobes. This was the tricky part, remove too much and Ken
would be a vegetable, remove too little and it would have an insufficient
effect. Helen did this part of the surgery. It used to be her specialty.
She decided to err on the too little side and only removed a few
millimeters of tissue from both the right and the left frontal lobes. He
was still heavily sedated when they wheeled him back to the van and then
home.
For the first few days Ken was kept on the verge of consciousness with
frequent injections of opiates. Helen and Bill took very good care of
their house guest as his body healed.
He was able to walk in about a week. Because the motor control parts of
his brain were undamaged he had full control of his body. But because he
had lost some of his thinking ability and memory he did not recognize
anyone or have any memory of his past life. Apparently he didn't notice
his missing body parts either. He sat down when using the toilet. They
renamed Ken Sheila.
Bill started Sheila on female hormones. During the next few months
breasts developed and her face took on a very feminine appearance. Sheila
was very conscious of her developing body. She watched a lot of
television and could easily see that she was becoming an adult woman.
Helen helped her mature as best she could. She bought Sheila her first
bra and filled her closet with women's clothing. She took her to the
clinic to have her facial and much of her body hair removed. Sheila also
had her Adam's apple fixed and some minor facial plastic surgery. Helen
took Sheila with her to the salon to have her hair, brows, and nails
done. Finally, Sheila had breast implants. No one would ever suspect that
Sheila started life as a male.
Sheila had a limited learning ability. She had a very short term memory
and had difficulty expressing herself verbally. She couldn't remember the
words. She became very frustrated and would stutter. She was able to
learn how to take care of the house, how to run the vacuum, how to clean,
and how to do laundry. Sheila enjoyed housework. But Sheila had a great
deal of difficulty learning to cook. She just couldn't remember
everything. She could make toast or fry eggs but she couldn't put it all
together and make breakfast, for example. When she wasn't cleaning she
liked to lie in the sun next to the pool. Bill and Helen had to keep the
pool fence gate locked. They were concerned that if Sheila walked away
she would not be able to find her way home.
Bill was much nicer to Sheila than Helen. Sheila learned to follow
Helen's instructions to the letter. When Sheila did not follow
instructions exactly Helen would verbally abuse her and send her to the
pantry closet for quiet time. Helen demanded respect and subservience.
Sheila always referred to Helen as ma'am and Bill as sir.
Monica had been kept in the dark as to Ken's situation. Sheila was always
sent to her room when Monica and the kids came over. Monica told her
friends that Ken had run off with someone. He had taken his car and most
of his clothes. He wasn't missed. Then one evening when Monica and the
kids came over for dinner Helen introduced her daughter to a new girl she
had helping around the house. Monica greeted Sheila politely and went on
with the conversation she was having with her mother. It wasn't until
after dinner when Helen told Monica that Sheila was actually her husband.
Monica was dumbfounded. She had actually thought her parents had killed
and buried Ken or something like that. She was relieved that he was still
alive and could not believe how he looked and acted. Helen suggested that
the two of them start the paperwork to change Ken's records from male to
female. Then divorce Sheila because of his gender change.
And so it was that Sheila started her new career as a housekeeper. For
the most part she was happy. As promised she will never give Monica or
the kids a hard time and will never cause another woman any sorrow or
pain.
