Luke Thomas was playing his xbox game and enjoying it immensely.
He was a loner, a guy without any close friends. Years ago he used
to play with Sara Fergussen just about every day, but that ended
when they were thirteen. During that time Sara had beat him up four
times because he wouldn't do what she wanted. They were now both
seniors in high school. He and Sara lived three houses apart and
now it was as if Sara didn't know him anymore. He knew in his heart
he loved Sara but she was so pretty and popular at school he knew
he didn't have a chance with her.
His mother, Lydia, was seven months pregnant with him when her
husband was killed in a car crash. She got a hefty settlement but
continued working at the beauty parlor. She so wanted a daughter
that when Luke was born she felt dismayed that it was a boy, not a
girl. For the first three years she dressed him in dresses and
treated him like he was a girl. Whenever she folded clothes, she
thought how wonderful it would be to be folding blouses and dresses
instead of shirts and pants.
Sara was at the food court in the mall with some of her group of
friends. She boldly said she was willing to bet that she could make
a boy into a girl who wore dresses and make-up. Her friends were
willing to bet and so it was on. Sara had a smug smile on her face
as she thought about how she'd soon be getting a boy into a dress
and make-up.
She got home and called to the Thomas house and asked to speak to
Luke. His mother called him and he took the phone. He was surprised
to hear Sara on the other end asking if he could come over and help
her with a little problem. He said he would be right over.
He arrived and Sara took him to her bedroom. She made small talk
for a few minutes, then sprang it on him.
"I made a bet with a few of my friends and you can help me win
it. The bet is, I can change a boy into wearing dresses and
make-up. You will do that for me, won't you?"
"Are you crazy! There is no way I will wear a dress and make-up!
Get real!"
"Please, pretty please, just for me!"
"No, I can't do it."
Sara reached out and grabbed him and two minutes later had him on
his belly on the floor with his right arm in a hammerlock. She
pushed up a little more and asked him again if he would wear a
dress for her. He refused.
"I will break your arm if I have to but you WILL wear a dress and
make-up. Now will you wear a dress?" She pushed harder on his arm.
He couldn't stand the pain and finally agreed to do whatever she
wanted.
She told him to strip and he slowly started to strip. He got down
to his underpants and stopped. Sara sharply told him to get them
off and he slowly let them down his legs and stepped out of them.
She handed him a pair of panties telling him to put them on. He
slowly drew them up his legs. Then came the bra. Sara had to hook
it but she saw the sag in his shoulders as she hooked it and knew
she had him cowed.
She handed him what looked like two little pillows. He found out
they filled the bra cups. She said her mother got them for her when
she was first developing but she didn't need them for long. She was
going to throw them out but hadn't -- she didn't know why. Then
came the nylon slip, which shimmered over his body.
She came out of her closet with a pretty dress. It was cream
colored with little pink rosebuds decorating it. She told him it
was one of her favorite dresses.
"I don't think I can put that on. I won't put it on!"
She grabbed his hand and bent his fingers back until it hurt so
much he agreed to wear the dress. He got the dress on and she
buttoned the back up. Then it was some pantyhose for his legs. He
didn't have a lot of leg hair and it was pretty light colored so it
didn't show too bad. Then she handed a pair of pink flats which fit
perfectly.
Then she said he should sit at her vanity so she could do his
make-up. He didn't know about that but sat quietly as she clipped
at his eye brows a bit, then worked on his eyes, cheeks and finally
his mouth. When he looked into the mirror he saw a young girl
staring back at him.
"You look a lot better as a girl than you do a boy. In fact you
look great. The boys will really notice you now."
"I don't know if I can go through with this. I am scared. What if
someone recognizes me?"
"I'll tell you what. We'll go over by your mother's and if she
recognizes you right off we'll forget the whole thing. But if she
doesn't you have to agree and give me your word that you will wear
the dress to school. Do we have a deal?"
"Yes, I am sure she will recognize me. After all I AM her son!"
They took a slow walk over to his house. Sara rang the bell and
Lydia answered it.
"We are doing a school project and would like your opinion. What
do you think of the economy everyone is talking about?"
Lydia looked at the two girls and thought she recognized the
other girl but couldn't remember where she knew her from. Then she
decided it must be one that comes into the salon for her hair. Her
hair could use some fixing.
"Mrs. Thomas, I'd like to introduce you to my friend, Lorena also
known as Luke."
"Oh, my God, Luke it is you, isn't it? I never would have thought
you would look like that! My gracious, you look wonderful. Your
hair could use a little touch-up but other than that you look very
pretty."
"Mrs. Thomas, could you do something with his hair to make him
look better. It will help a whole lot."
"Here's twenty dollars, run over to the drug store and get a home
perm kit. That should only take about fifteen minutes and then
we'll get started. I'll show you how to do it! Lorena, come into
the house so I can get started on you."
In the house, Lydia started shampooing his hair. She was
ecstatic, doing the hair of her girly-son. It was like having a
daughter again. What a great world!
Sara quickly returned with the home perm kit. Lydia showed her
how to get the rollers nice and tight and where and how to put
them. Sara chuckled as she did his hair. This was so much fun!
Sara and Lydia talked while they waited for the perm to dry so
they could comb and brush it out. When Lydia asked if he was going
to wear the same dress every day Sara assured her she had enough
old dresses to keep him in dresses for a long time. Sara told Lydia
she had a closet half full of old clothes Lorena could have.
Lydia asked to be excused for a little bit as she had some quick
shoppng to do and his hair wouldn't be ready for an hour yet. She
left and Sara was with Lorena.
"It won't be so bad, Lorena. You wait and see, no one will
recognize you as Luke. You have changed too much. You may even like
the change."
"No, I think you are wrong. What if they do recognize me as Luke
in a dress. I'll never live it down!"
"Don't worry! Your mother didn't even recognize you, did she?"
Lorena saw it was no use arguing, as Sara had an answer to
everything. Lorena sat quietly wondering what was going to happen
next. How could he have stopped this insanity? What's the school
going to say about him coming to school in a dress?
Lydia returned with a good sized bag with all sorts of clothing
in it. She pulled some frilly panties out and told Lorena they were
for him. Then she pulled three nightgowns out, one was printed with
Barbie dolls on it, one with little teddy bears and one with little
red hearts on it. Lorena blushed when told that's what he was going
to wear to bed. He felt like he had no say in anything anymore.
It came time to remove the rollers and comb and brush out his
hair. He ended up with a head of medium curls, his face framed
nicely by his hair. Lydia did a minimum of snipping to make his
hair look just right. When he looked in a mirror he saw a young
girl looking back at him.
"He looks great. You know what, I have some nail polish that
really shines. Would you like to do his nails, Sara."
"Yes, that would be fun."
Lydia shaped his nails in a feminine shape and let Sara apply the
nail polish. Lorena sat as if in a trance. He couldn't believe how
his mother was acting. It was as if she wanted him to be a girl.
Before Sara left she gave him a big kiss right on his lips. He
felt light-headed as she held the kiss for a little bit. He felt he
would do anything for her.
Finally Lorena's mother said it was bedtime and to go get ready
and come back to give her a good night kiss. He went, and when he
returned he was wearing the nightgown with the little hearts on it.
His mother told him he looked so sweet in it as he kissed her on
the cheek. He got into bed worried about what tomorrow would bring.
Sara got into bed proud of what she had done today. She never
thought she would be doing to Luke what she did. She'd had Timmy
Wagner in mind when she made the bet as he was such a wimp anyway.
She smiled to herself, thinking about tomorrow in school.
The next morning he looked at himself in the mirror and saw the
make-up was still on. He felt sick in the pit of his stomach. He
got dressed in a pale green dress with all the lace on it. When he
walked out into the kitchen his mother oohed and awed over how nice
he looked. She told him he really should redo his lips though. He
went into the bathroom and his mother watched as he redid his lips.
She told him to keep the lipstick and handed him a clutch purse to
put it in telling him every girl carries a purse.
He stopped at Sara's house to see if she had changed her mind
about him wearing dresses. She laughed and said that will be the
day. She said he needed one more thing and proceeded to fasten a
heart locket around his neck.
They walked to school together. When they arrived he was amazed
at the fact that everyone said hello or good morning to him. This
had never happened before. At his locker a boy approached him and
asked where he'd been all year. He said he was here, but the boy
said if so he would have noticed him before. Lorena said it was her
first day wearing make-up, and that answered the boy's question. He
told her she was beautiful. Lorena was starting to get confidence.
The first class and the teacher gave her a funny look but never
said anything. Between classes everyone said hi to him and he was
starting to enjoy the attention he was getting.
Come lunchtime there wasn't enough room for everyone who wanted
to sit at his table. Both boys and girls wanted to sit by him. The
afternoon went as the morning did. By the end of the day he was one
happy student. No one had even suggested he was a boy.
Sara caught up with him on the way home and asked how it went. He
gushed that it was wonderful. Sara wondered about the great change
in him. He was a whole different person. At her house she said she
would see him tomorrow.
When he arrived home his mother was happy to see the wide smile
on his face. She asked how his day went and he said wonderful. She
wondered how long they could keep this up. It was so wonderful
having a daughter in the house.
The next morning was a repeat of the previous day. He was feeling
very happy. The school announcements came on to start the day. One
announcement was that the voting for all-school prom queen was to
be tomorrow. Students were warned that voting for Minnie Mouse or
Daffy Duck was a no-vote and not to waste their votes. The three
girls running for prom queen were announced and Sara was one of the
candidates. Lorena knew who he was voting for. Sara should win
easily he thought.
The day went much like yesterday, except today he was approached
by Tyler Button, the quarterback and captain of the football team.
Tyler asked him if he wanted to go to the movies with him Saturday
night. Lorena told him she had plans made already. Six boys told
her how pretty she looked and she smiled and said thanks.
The next day was voting day. Voting was until noon and the winner
would be announced at two o'clock. Lorena was all smiles as she
voted for Sara. There was no way Sara could lose, Lorena just knew
it. At noon it seemed everyone wanted to sit by Lorena. Tables were
pushed together just to be closer to her.
Come two o'clock and the announcement was made. "With 16
votes-Amy Klarner. With 37 votes-Melissa Taylor. With 61 votes-Sara
Fergessen. Write-in- with 93 votes-Lorena Thomas. Lorena Thomas is
your prom queen.
Everyone was congratulating Lorena. Lorena didn't know how to
take this. It hadn't sunk in yet. She was to be prom queen. Sara
told her she was very happy the students had picked her to be
queen. She said she would have liked to be queen but she was
happier that it was Lorena.
When he got home and told his mother she was so happy that she
said this calls for eating out to celebrate. She took him to a
steak supper club and they really enjoyed themselves.
Time seemed to fly and soon it was time to get a dress for the
prom. He went with his mother, Sara, and two other girlfriends. He
tried on five dresses and none of them seemed to impress him. Then
he tried on one that featured different colored pastel colors in
the skirt. It was a full skirt that flared out beautifully. He fell
in love with that one and Sara and the other two girls said that
was really him. He found a pair of three-inch heels to go with the
dress and got a long line bra and special panties and nylons to
wear with it. He was in seventh heaven and enjoying every minute of
it. His mother told him thank you for making her so proud of her
new daughter.
Came the Saturday of the prom and Lorena was at her mother's
beauty parlor getting made-up and her hair fixed just so. She
enjoyed the attention and comments on how nice she looked.
Craig Hopper picked her up right on time, presenting her with a
wrist corsage to match her dress. He told her she really looked
pretty. She smiled and thanked him. He wasn't going to be king but
Lorena liked him because he didn't come on strong and always showed
the greatest respect for her.
The prom went smoothly and Lorena enjoyed herself immensely. She
danced with Craig quite a few times and with the king in the
court's dance after she was crowned. Everyone commented on how nice
her dress looked.
When Craig dropped her off and escorted her to the door she
allowed a lingering kiss. She felt butterflies in her stomach as he
kissed her. He thanked her for the kiss and returned to his car.
She watched as he drove away.
Lydia was up waiting for her. When she asked how it went, Lorena
said it was just so special. She said she felt like a real queen
when they placed the crown on her head. She said she never wanted
to change. Lydia was glad to hear that. Lorena said it felt
delicious being held in Craig's arms, they were so strong.
A week before graduation Lorena was called into the principal's
office. He wanted to know how she wanted her name on the diploma.
She told him to make it Lorena Luke Thomas. He said that would be
no problem.
On graduation night the principal announced her name as Lorena L.
Thomas. As he shook hands he said, "Your secret is safe with me,
Luke."
Lorena hadn't thought about Luke in such a long time she wondered
why she'd seemed to lose him somewhere. She decided it was because
she was having so much fun as Lorena.
Lorena got a job as a waitress after graduation. Six months later
she had breast implants put in and started on an estrogen therapy.
Then she got a job in a law office as basically a file girl and
odd job doer. Eight months later she had enough for the surgery to
make her a real woman.
She awoke from the operation to see her mother and Sara waiting
for her. She smiled and reached for Sara.
"Sara, I don't think I ever thanked you for putting me in
dresses. It is the best thing that ever happened to me. You do know
Luke was in love with you, don't you?"
"I suspected as much, but we were too different for it to develop
much further than it was. Now I've gained a new best friend
forever. I love you, Lorena."
"Mom, I hope you are happy having a daughter instead of a son."
"I couldn't be happier. I always wanted a daughter but when your
father was killed I knew I would never find another like him and a
daughter was out of the question. You have made me the happiest
woman in the world. I love you very, very much."
Lorena had made the tough decision and followed through with it.
She is happy with how things turned out. She now will feel better
going out with boys and is looking forward to marriage to a good
man.
