Sarah and Tony Fergussen were having supper. Sarah worked as a cashier
at a bank and Tony was a supervisor at a local manufacturing plant.
Sarah asked, "How was your day today?"
"It wasn't bad but it wasn't good either. Line three was down most of
the day. The millwrights had to change two bearings and readjust the
carriage bars. That took six hours and it takes the operator a half hour
to get the heaters hot and start up. So, we lost that production."
"That story I have heard before. You sure seem to have a lot of machines

The next day she started cleaning. She was doing the living room when
she saw a driver deliver a package. She got the package and thought is
was from Tony's mother. Tony's mother had sent a cook book last month
with a note that it contained recipes that Tony liked. She opened the
package.

shoe on and it was way too big for her. She looked in the box and found

She went into the bedroom and opened his side of the closet. Usually she
just grabbed empty hangers to put his shirts on. She never paid any
attention to what was in there. She didn't see anything suspicious. Then
she parted his shirts and looked at the back of his closet. She saw two
dresses hanging on a hook. There was a cardboard box on the floor. She
took it and put it on the bed. She opened it and found first nylon lacy
panties in many colors, two bras, one white,one black, a slip trimmed

In a gruff voice she said, "I laid out a change of clothes on the bed

"It's time for lesson one." She went to him and opened the front of the

He put them on and she told him to walk around. He walked into the
living room and turned and came back.

you?"
"I guess you could say that."
"Well from the neck down you look like a woman. Do you want me to show
you how to do your eyes?"
"No, that isn't necessary."
"Come with me. We are going to get you some more clothes."
"I can't go out like this! What will people think?"
"You said you would do anything for me and you said you love wearing
dresses. I am giving you what you love. Now come along!"
The way she said 'now come along' he knew he better go with her. She
drove, and took him to a nation-wide women's clothing store. There she
had him try on a skirted suit. He tried it on and it fit perfectly. She
picked out a soft brown one, a powder blue one, a pink one, a yellow one
and a real pale lavender one. Then she took him to where they sold
shoes. She asked him if he wanted shoes to match his new work clothes.
He told her he had to wear steel toed shoes at work. She told him she
knew just where to go for them. Before they left she picked out five
fancy nightgowns for him to wear to bed. He was getting afraid of waht
she might do next. She picked him up some more bras,all fancy lace
trimmed. She got him a ladies watch and two bracelets and three
necklaces. She saw the pantyhose display and told him he couldn't always
wear hers. She picked out five different colors and threw them in the
cart. She went back to the jewelry counter, and this time there was a
woman behind the counter. She talked to the woman. She told Tony to sit
in the chair that was there.
He sat down, and the woman came and told him this was the latest out,
that you didn't have to wear studs for six weeks, the old way. She told
him he would feel a bit of pain but it was worth it. She marked his ears

pain disappeared. She did his other ear and he held it in until the pain
disappeared. Sarah handed the woman a pair of dangly earrings. She put
them in his ears and he was ready to go.
They headed for the checkout. The cashier was checking the clothes and
Sarah said in a loud voice, "Did you tell her all of this is for you?"
The cashier looked at him and laughed. He just wanted to get out of
there.
Then Sarah headed to a shoe store she knew sold steel-toed shoes. She
told the clerk they needed some women's steel-toed shoes for him. The
clerk measured his foot and went and got four boxes of shoes. The first
pair Sarah thought looked too masculine. The second pair she liked. The
third pair didn't turn her on. The last pair she loved. They had little
flowers on them. She told the clerk they would take the second pair and
the last pair.
He asked if they couldn't get a wig so he'd look less strange. She asked
what in the world did he want a wig for? He was heart broken. Then he
was surprised when she pulled up in front of Beauty Today hair salon and
spa.
Inside Sarah talked to a young girl. He saw the young girl look at him

this isn't going to be good.

then took him back to her chair and started on his eyes, explaining how

He understood it all.
It was time for her to finish his hair. She brushed and combed for what
he thought was forever but was starting to enjoy it. When she finished

would see him in about a month or so. He didn't think so. When he looked

telling him it was the cosmetics she had used on his eyes.
He got out of the chair and turned to see Sarah with a grin on her face
that told him she had just won something. He knew it was him.
In the car Sarah saw the pouch and asked what it was. He told her and
she said he needed something to put it in. They stopped at Purses, Inc.
and she picked out a pretty pink purse for him. He asked why pink and
she picked out another one that was red patent leather. Then she picked
a turquoise wallet that had a red rose on it. She told him he needed a
new wallet anyway.
The next stop was a drug store where she had him pick out more nail
polish ,nail polish remover and pads to use with it. Then it was
perfume. She picked Floral Bouquet for him to use. She sprayed a sample
on him and he was sure you could smell it a mile away. Then it was
lipsticks. She had him get a variety of colors. Then it was light
colored eye shadow, telling him the dark was for evening wear and light
for daytime wear. He didn't notice, but the eye shadow said it contained
sparkles. She asked him if he wanted Kotex and laughed like mad. He just
blushed and said nothing.
They left and in the car Sarah looked at him and wondered why she had
ever thought he was all-man.
"You know with your look you need a new name. How about Antonia?"
"Where did you come up with that?"
"Simple. I took Tony and changed the Y for I and added an An at the
front and an A at the back. Now, Antonia, tell me what is your name?"
He didn't answer. She repeated the question in a different tone asking
"Now Antonia, what is your NEW name?"
He knew he'd better answer. He said, "Antonia."

always isn't good, wearing dresses.
He was worried that she was going to send him to work wearing a dress
suit. He just knew she was going to send him to work with the shoes with
the flowers on them. He was already feeling sick.
At home, Sarah reached under his skirt and said she could see he was

The next morning Sarah told him he should wear his pink outfit. She told

laughed as he got dressed.
"You aren't really going to send me to work wearing these clothes, are
you?"
"Yes, I am. You must want to wear dresses a lot, or the shoes you had in
your closet wouldn't be showing so much wear. You will go to work and
you will be wearing those clothes. Wear your new shoes, the ones with
the flowers on them. Go into the bathroom and use the perfume that is on
the counter."
He knew that was going to happen, he just knew it. He knew a couple of
men at work could give him trouble. He was especially afraid of what Big
Hank would do.
He arrived at work. It took him quite awhile to get inside. He went to
his supervisor's office. When his supervisor saw him he just laughed and
asked him what gives.
"This is all my wife's doing. She thinks I have to get in touch with my

"Well, I don't know how people are going to take you but you are a good

He said that she could be right.
Then it was Bill Zak. He told him he didn't care what he wanted to wear.

He saw Big Hank coming his way. Big Hank worked in shipping and usually

At home, when she asked, he told Sarah that his day wasn't as bad as
he'd thought it would be. He told her about Big Hank. She knew that
before, Big Hank had scared him. She told him she was proud that he'd
stood up to Big Hank.
The next day at lunchtime he was eating lunch in the lunchroom and Ethyl
came and sat down opposite him. She told him to lay his hand flat on the
table. He didn't know why but he did it. She started to glue false nails
on his fingers. He asked what she was doing and she told him she was
making his hands beautiful. He told her to stop. She told him she was
going to finish the job. He sat quietly, wondering why he was putting up
with this. She got the false nails on his one hand, then took out a
bottle of pink nail polish and applied it to his new nails. She told him
the color was called pretty in pink. She told him it would make him look
more feminine. When she finished she ordered him to put his other hand
flat on the table. He did as ordered. She finished the hand and told him
he could at least tell her thank you and tell her how he liked his new
nails.
"Thank you. I really love my new nails and the color is perfect. You
really want to take care of me, don't you?"
"That was very good. So good in fact I may have something else for you
tomorrow." This made him really nervous. He knew she wouldn't be giving
him anything good.
He looked at his nails. They were longer than he had ever worn them.
Then he thought they looked kind of nice. He pictured in his mind what
they would look like in red.
All afternoon everyone he spoke to told him how nice his nails looked.
He went by Ethyl and told her Thank You again for doing his nails. He
said he had never received so many compliments before on his appearance.
She asked what his wife called him. He told her it was Antonia. She said
that was a very pretty name. He left, and saw he had only an hour to go.
He couldn't wait to get home so Sarah could see his nails.
It started almost immediately. Over the PA system Antonia was called to
different operations. He was amazed at the fact that he had told only
one person the name his wife had given him, and now everyone seemed to
know it.
The day ended and he headed home. On the way he thought a lot about
wearing dresses. He decided he liked wearing them. There weren't a lot
of people who gave him any trouble about it. All in all it was better
than he'd expected. He wondered why he'd been so nervous the night
before he'd first gone to work and then his first day at work in a
dress.
At home Sarah raved over his nails. She said she'd never thought about
that. She said she had an idea and that after supper they were going
somewhere.
After supper she drove him to the Nail Palace where he got another
pedicure. When the girl was finishing she put a bright red polish on his
toes. He thought he had never seen a color that red before.
They left and Sarah told him he needed some shoes that showed off his
toes. She stopped at a shoe store. When they left he was walking out in
pair of three inch white strappy sandals. You could see all of his toes.
At home she told him to wear those shoes to work tomorrow. He knew he
wanted to show off his pretty toes. He couldn't wait. He was getting
excited with the thought of showing off his toes.
The next day, instead of his steel toes he wore the strappy heels.
Everyone told him his toes were beautiful. At mid-morning his supervisor
topld him it would be a good idea to wear steel toes. He went and
changed shoes.
At home Sarah asked about his day. He told her it was fabulous. He said
everyone liked his toes. Sarah was starting to wonder if he wasn't
enjoying this too much.
At supper Sarah queried, "So, how do you like wearing dresses full
time?"
"It isn't bad, it isn't bad at all. I must say I am enjoying it. I never
thought something like this would happen to me."
"I am thnking that it turned out not to be a punishment for you. I am
wondering if you shouldn't go back to your man clothes. You can wear
dresses around the house if you want. You can change clothes right after
supper. I will go get the release agent for your breast forms."
"You don't have to do that! I can wait to change."
"Are you telling me that you are going to stay in dresses?"
"Well, my hair says I should and I do have all those clothes that cost
good money. They should be worn and they won't fit you."
"I know you want to keep wearing dresses. I guess I can wait until your
perm gives out before you change."
"What if I get another perm? Then what?" He laughed.
She laughed and said, "I will cross that bridge when I come to it. Do
you really think you will get another perm?"
"I am not really sure but I think so. I liked the way she catered to me.
It made me feel real nice."
"Yes, trips to the beauty parlor do have that effect on a person. I
suppose it isn't any different for a man. I will tell you what, I will
accept whatever you want. I know someday you will be back in men's
clothes. I will leave that up to you."
So, their love for each other grew and they continued to come up with
agreements to strengthen their marriage.
