Chapter 1
The competition was supposed to have been an easy one, it was only going
to comprise of a waltz, a jive and a tango. Ryan was well trained in all
three disciplines. And as the lead instructor of his own dance studio he
had been able to choose amongst the most accomplished dancer as his
partner. He had chosen Heidi. She was the perfect height, with her 3
inch dancing heels she was still just a couple of inches shorter than he
was. This was key as if there was too great of a difference, the pairing
would look ridiculous, and he would lose points for style if nothing
else. Heidi also had the most beautiful legs, long and graceful, and her
magnificent dance frame served as the example for all those in the class.
She was also progressing wonderfully with the dances. She had originally
walked in off the street as a beginner in early autumn, he had offered
her free lessons if she work with him as his partner. After eight months
of practice she seemed ready.
Things had been going so well that even his backups, Jason and Janet,
were looking like they might finish second of third in the city-wide
competition. Janet had been in the same situation as Heidi, a newcomer
who had been offered extra lessons, not free in this case, rather at a
significant discount. She was not as much of a natural that Heidi had
appeared to be, but she made up for it with her hard work. Jason on the
other hand was an experienced dancer. He had come to the studio looking
for a teaching position, and though the studio was not presently looking
for any more help, Ryan agreed to take him on as an instructor provided
he work as the lead to his backup dancer. Jason jumped at the offer,
although he was only moonlighting from his regular job as a businessman,
he loved to dance. His mom had pushed into dance at a young age and he
was well versed in many styles and disciplines with even a few years of
ballet, tap and hip-hop. But he especially enjoyed ballroom and so he
relished his input being used for choreography. Jason's only drawback
was his size, he was quite a bit shorter than Ryan, in fact only about as
tall as Heidi and so much so that Janet was taller than him with her
dancing shoes on. The couple looked a little out of place, but what they
lacked in appearance they made up for with technique.
A strong friendship had developed among the four as they had been
spending so much time together. However, neither dance couple was a
couple in real life. Ryan was keen on becoming intimate with Heidi, he
thought that the connection would make their dancing even more sensuous
and enticing. Jason for his part didn't have time for a girlfriend at
the moment. His last girlfriend had broken up with him because he didn't
have time for her, and that was before he had begun dancing. Janet was
also not his type, and he knew better than to get interested in Heidi.
The dance competition had only been five weeks away and Janet and Heidi
had taken the night off to go do some shopping together. The dance
studio was on the second floor of a building over top of a stylish
furniture store, and relatively close to a subway stop. Janet and Heidi
lived nearby to the studio, about as far away but in opposite directions,
so they would often just meet there. That night they had told the two
guys that they would swing back on their way home. Ryan and Jason
meanwhile were watching tapes, trying to pick up on some bad habits, they
had gotten carried away and not realized that it had gotten late. It was
11:20 at night, and they had expected the ladies no later than 10:30.
They tried their cell phones - no answer. Fearing something may have
happened, Jason instinctually turned on the television, just to catch the
beginning of the late news. He knew what he saw was going to devastate
them. There had been a subway crash. It felt as though the air was let
out of both Ryan and Jason at the same time as they sat dejected looking
at the screen. The accident had occurred on the line Heidi and Janet
would be returning on, about one hour previously.
Chapter 2
It was a bittersweet moment when Ryan and Jason went to visit the girls
in the hospital the following day. No one had died in the crash but
those riding in the front car had sustained significant injuries,
including Janet and Heidi. Janet was still on a ventilator, her lungs
had collapsed and she had broken 8 ribs. Heidi was in better shape, she
had broken both her legs below the knee and had a few lacerations on her
body. Both looked like they would pull through. In this moment Ryan and
Jason could not think of anything but their friends, in the back of their
minds they knew the competition was over, but their focus was squarely on
the health of their friends. The nurse informed them that Janet would
not be able to talk until stabilized and that Heidi would not be able to
talk until the next day, as she was heavily sedated. Ryan and Jason went
back to the studio, opened a bottle of wine and sat in silence.
The next day Ryan went to visit Heidi by himself. Jason would not be off
work until later and had promised to meet them there, but as Ryan had
flexible hours he went as soon as he could. He found her in her hospital
bed almost as he had expected, like a scene out of movie with Heidi's
legs in casts and elevated above. Her smile when he walked in told him
that she was just happy that he was here to visit. Janet had some family
in the area, but Heidi was alone. Her parents were presently working
overseas, and at Heidi's urging the previous day on the phone she had
told them not to come home.
Ryan was the first to talk. "How are you feeling beautiful?"
With as much positivity as she could muster, Heidi answered back, "About
as good as I look I guess. How are things with you?"
"I have nothing to complain about in comparison," said Ryan, "are they
taking care of you ok?"
"My insurance covers me pretty well so I think I should be all right,"
replied Heidi, "The staff here is pretty friendly, so I guess its all
right."
"That's good," Ryan said reassuringly.
After a moment's pause Heidi spoke again, "Ryan?"
"Yes?" he answered.
"What will happen with the competition?" asked Heidi, " The doctor told
me he will have me walking again in few months, but there is no way I
will be back on my feet in five weeks. Are you still going to compete?"
"I don't see how," he answered. "Janet was my backup and I don't expect
to be twirling her around the stage any time soon."
"Another girl then maybe?" countered Heidi.
"There's no one I know that I could get up to the necessary level in 5
weeks," said Ryan with a dejected look on his face, despite his concern
for his friends he had already thought of this, "most elite dancers would
have a hard time learning all the nuances of a routine in two months. I
could definitely find a partner, but I wouldn't be winning anything."
At that moment a nurse came into the room. "You're going to have to
leave, sir. The doctor is here now to check on the patient."
"OK, OK, Heidi my dear," said Ryan, "I will be back later with Jason."
"Ryan before you go promise me something ..." said Heidi.
"Anything ..." replied Ryan.
"Promise me you will find a way to win that competition, because I want
to be out of here by then cheering you on," she said.
Ryan didn't know how he would do that, but he knew for her benefit that
he would have to agree, "I promise, now get some rest, and I will see you
later."
Chapter 3
Ryan had agreed to meet Jason for lunch today. Jason made quite a bit
more money than Ryan so it was his treat. He didn't mind about the money
he was curious to find out about how his friends were doing, "So how are
they?"
"Heidi was talking but Janet is still in and out of consciousness," Ryan
replied with enough anxiety that it had clearly deeply affected him. "I
didn't get to talk to her yet."
"Ah that's too bad," replied Jason, "did you talk to their doctors?"
"Yeah, they said because they were stabilized now that they should both
have full recoveries but that it will take some time," said Ryan
"Ah well at least that's a bit of good news," said Jason.
A look of concern now filled Ryan's face, "There's something else,
something unrelated ... I promised Heidi I would win the dance
competition."
"Whoah ?!? With whom as a partner?" asked Jason is disbelief.
"That's the problem," answered Ryan, "I felt like I had to say yes, she
said its something she can look forward to in her rehabilitation, to
watch me win in five weeks, but for the life of me I don't know who I
could get to learn the routine that fast. By now anyone else in the city
would already have a partner if they were interested in competing I
guess. It doesn't leave many people and there's no time to groom a new
partner like I was doing with Heidi and Janet."
"Even if you had another partner, and one of a high enough quality,"
replied Jason, "there would be no time to get the routines down. And
there's only one person in the city who knows the routines and that's me.
Do you have any ideas at all?"
"Not a one," said Ryan dejectedly as both his hopes and in a way Heidi's
rehabilitation hinged on the two of them finding an answer.
The two sat silent for a moment, Jason finally broke the silence, "What
about me? I could partner you."
"Seriously Jason," replied Ryan. "I promised Heidi that I would win the
competition, not become the laughingstock of it."
"Sure, but I feel that I am just as responsible here," said Jason still
looking for a solution, "I would have promised her too if I was there, it
was just a thought."
"Look Jason, I like you," replied Ryan, "we're buddies, but I am NOT
dancing these dances with a man, no one in the world would think it
looked nice."
Jason clearly wasn't giving up on the idea "Who says you have to dance
with a man though? Dancers wear costumes and they have to take on
personas every time they dance. Just you like you dance differently
between a tango and a waltz, you act in different ways, in this case it
would be the same thing."
Jason for his part believed what he was saying. Dancers had to pull off
different personas in their performances, and the crossdressing would not
be as huge of a problem, most men wore costumes that were pretty flashy
and flamboyant anyway, and quite often wore tights and even makeup when
performing. Ryan thought that Jason had a good point, even though he
didn't want to admit it. If Jason could somehow pull of the look, it
would be enough, there would be no better dancer, Jason knew the routine
flat, better than either of the girls, "OK, I am not saying yes, but lets
explore it as a possibility."
Chapter 4
Where Ryan had been skeptical, Heidi and Janet had been a lot more
accepting of the idea. They were concerned about what Jason might be
able to make himself look like, but if he could pull off a feminine look,
even a not very attractive feminine look, he was unquestionably the best
candidate as a partner. Also they liked the idea that the partnership
come from within the team. Nonetheless, Ryan was not yet sold on the
idea. He was still exploring other options. Jason on the other hand had
done some research. In the gay district of the city there was a business
that specialized in male to female makeovers, if anyone could create a
convincing illusion it would be them. Although just a few years out of
school he had worked hard and been well reimbursed for it, so he had
asked for the next four weeks off from work. He had accrued enough
annual leave to take twice as much, and if this was going to work he was
going to need that time to get in character and figure out how to dance
with Ryan.
By Friday, the day before Jason's transformation, Ryan still hadn't had
any luck with finding a replacement. He had contacted a couple of
girls, they were already busy or committed elsewhere. So it looked like
winning hinged on Jason, a convincing look would mean that they could do
it, without it, he didn't know how he would fulfill his promise. So the
night before he had paid him a visit and wished him the best of luck.
Jason's Saturday was going to be busy. The morning would be filled up at
the hairdresser. He would need long hair to be convincing in the role,
and the hairdressers would be attaching extensions. Jason was funding
the whole process and he knew that if it didn't work that he was out of
about one thousand dollars overall and also that he would have let his
friends down. So when he eventually walked out of the hairdressers, he
felt a great deal of apprehension towards what may come.
Jason hopped into a cab. His now long dark hair was hidden underneath
his jacket. The transformation process had already begun even before he
had arrived at the transformation specialists. The previous night he had
shaved all the hair off of his body, now with his long hair he felt sort
of in between man and woman. In the trunk of the cab were the three
dresses that he would have to try and work his way into - a sultry tango
dress, a long and flowing waltz dress and a fun and flirtatious jive
dress. Throughout the course of the week he had been reading some facts
about transgender community. One of the most promising was that he had
read that a lot of leg models were actually men. This was important
because much of a female dancer's appearance was based on her legs, if
they were convincing then they had a shot, if not then the whole gamble
might have been for nothing.
After arriving at the beauty parlour he immediately felt a bit of
hesitation. This was after all a very bizarre endeavour he had set
himself upon. Almost as to sense his discomfort the proprietors came
outside to meet him. The first was Daniel, a hairdresser and makeup
artist, and his girlfriend Charlotte, herself a male to female
transgender. The two of them would have to make Jason look as feminine
as possible. The first step just as with a real female, would be the
underneath later. The two of them wasted no time in finding the right
panties, bra and breast forms for Jason. Before the breast forms were
put in place a separate bra like piece of clothing was put on which
squeezed his chest together and gave the impression of some breasts, the
more so with the breast forms in place. A corset and bra finished off
the underwear.
The three of them had decided that in order to create a convincing
illusion they would have to start with the basics and work their way up.
So while the dance dresses lay in wait, Jason slipped into a little black
dress, open enough at the neck to show just a little bit of cleavage.
Jason was shocked by the sight of it, to him from his vantage point
looking down it appeared very realistic. Next Jason was sent into the
salon where his makeup, hair and nails would be done. He knew from what
little he had researched about transgendered people that it was the face
which made the difference for creating an illusion. The body was much
easier to fake, the face not as much. Jason was lucky though his head
was fairly circular, a trait he had read, made him resemble women more
than men in a fundamental way. His adam's apple was also not at all
prominent and his eyes were large and took up the majority of his head.
Jason lay his head back and relaxed, he didn't even notice himself
falling into a bit of a slumber. He had been working hard at both work
and play for the past few weeks and apparently had really needed a break.
When he finally came to, his transformation experts were done with him.
All that was left was to slip into a pair of heels and then he would be
ready to see himself in the mirror. When he did see himself in the
mirror, what he saw was a surprise. He could definitely see himself
under there, but his transformation artists had taken him close to
looking like a real woman. For certain, there was too much makeup, the
false eyelashes and bright red lipstick were very much over the top but
it was necessary in this case to ensure that they distract from the
aspects which weren't feminine enough. But it wasn't only the face,
Jason's body was convincing, with padding and squeezing in the right
places to create the appropriate illusion. Jason couldn't think of
himself as hot, it was too much of a leap, but he knew that he would be
able to pull off competing in this competition.
Jason felt revitalized by his appearance and his short nap. He was ready
to try on the other dresses. The tango dress would be the most difficult
to pull off. It was a mini dress cut up the side to leave little to the
imagination. Underneath would be the base of a unitard and under those
fishnet stockings. At the top would be a cleavage bearing bodice with
fishnet sleeves worn over top. If there was going to be any dress which
would pose a problem now it would be this one. However, with a bit of
cajoling, the dress was perfect. The waltz dress a long flowing dress
which showed some cleavage and with a slit running up the right leg also
fit well enough and the tango dress, a more playful dress with a flared
bright blue skirt and a bright blue bodice was not a problem after the
first two.
It seemed that at the very least that this was going to possible from the
overall appearance, which was the biggest hurdle, as the dancing was
going to be a lot easier to pull off.
