events that actually happened to me although the names have been changed
as has been the decisions and their consequences. Also since this is a
multi-part story and this is only the first chapter there isn't a lot of

An Indecent Proposal
Chapter 1
The elevator doors opened slowly with the usual grinding noise, it was
supposed to have been fixed three months ago. The guy sighed at the fact
that it was still not fixed. He was used to it by now but the events of
the day were taking their toll. He was carrying a box containing a few
of his stuff in it and his name was written on the box in black marker:
J. Davies. He stepped out of the elevator with the box in his arms. He
walked down the hallway to his apartment. He had been living there for
the past three years. He would probably have to move out of the
apartment soon, specially since he just got fired. He thought to himself
that he was not technically fired but they just didn't renew his
contract, in any case he was now unemployed and with the rise in the
rent last month he was going to have to move out. Putting down the box,
he dug into the left pocket of his jeans for his keys. He pulled out the
key chain and selected the proper one. As he inserted the key into the
lock, the door behind him opened.
He was a bit surprised by the door opening behind him, he thought that
the two girls that were living next door had left a week ago. They have
both been freshmen, one of them was blonde, quite pretty, and he thought
her name may have been Cindy but he never found out as she never even
returned his greetings and the other one was a redhead and was name
Kristy. She was amazing, not only pretty, but she would also say hello
when she saw him. He turned around with a smile to greet them but when
he turned around he saw two guys going towards the lift. Another guy was
on the threshold. He figured out that these three guys must be the new
tenants. Although he was a bit disappointed of not seeing the familiar
faces and although he was feeling blue from the current events, he still
decided to be courteous.
He spoke to the remaining guy. "Hi there I am Jeremy I am your next door
neighbor," he said holding out his hand forward.
The guy hesitated for a second and kind of stared at him for a few
seconds before even saying something. He then moved out of the apartment
and into the hallway. "Hi Jeremy I am Steve and the two others you saw
were Bob and Carl, we are all freshmen," he said as he wrapped his hand
around Jeremy's and shook it.
Though he was the older Jeremy looked younger than Steve, this was
partly due to the fact that he was 5'6 and had a small body structure
compared to Steve who must have been about 5'9 and looked like he worked
out a bit. The other reason was that due to his recent money problems,
Jeremy had been on a forced diet for the past three weeks which had made
him even thinner than usual. These two reasons made Jeremy who was
pushing 22 look about 17. As his hand was being shaken Jeremy noticed
that Steve had a tight grip.
With the presentations made, Steve released Jeremy's hand. "So do you
live all alone in this apartment?" he asked.
"It is a long story but the simple answer is yes," Steve seemed to think
of something and then asked, "Do you have a driver's licence?"
Jeremy dug into his pocket for his wallet and pulled the card from it
and showed it to Steve. Although he had had to sell his car to cover a
few debts the licence reminded him of his previous possession. Jeremy
was still brandishing the card in front of Steve who had just asked
whether he had one. Steve looked at the card with the photo and the
details. He got a slight smile on his face and said. "Thank you." Jeremy
put the card back in his wallet only now realising that in his tired
state he was overdoing things. "Well Jeremy nice to meet you, how about
you come to our house warming party on Sunday," Steve said inviting him.
"I'll be glad to," Jeremy responded. "See you then," Steve said as he
turned around and went back into the apartment.
Jeremy turned around to and opened the door. He pushed the box inside
and got the keys out of the lock and closed the door behind him. He put
the keys on the counter and pushed the box with his feet to the counter
too. Although it was only Thursday afternoon, he felt so tired that he
felt that he could sleep until Monday. He decided to go to have a shower
before going to bed. As he entered the bathroom he took his phone out of
his pocket and placed it on the ledge of the sink. He then proceeded
with relieving himself. He just finished and was washing his hands when
the phone started to ring. He took the call expecting it to be his
sister Nat who was coming to see him next Wednesday and she had told him
that she would be confirming the time this afternoon. The voice coming
from the mobile phone wasn't Nat but from someone with a definite
masculine voice. In his hazy state it took him a few seconds to realize
who the voice belonged to and when he did he almost dropped the phone,
the voice was from someone he was dreading to speak to, the voice was
from Marc.
Jeremy met Marc the first week of college. They were completely
different, Jeremy was the type of guy that would always be studying
sometimes even spending whole evenings in the library. Marc, on the
other hand, came from money and so he wasn't interested in studying and
was out most nights partying. Marc was in his second year of college but
due to him having failed most of his subjects he was present in Jeremy's
classes and one thing lead to another they were teamed up in some of the
practical classes, although it was Jeremy that was doing most of the
actual work. Jeremy didn't mind that at all specially after what Marc
had done for him during hell week. During the first year, Marc decided
to broaden Jeremy's horizons and initiated him to a few new concepts
like ditching classes or partying up all night. Their bond became
stronger and this lead to them moving in together after the first year.
It was Marc who chose the place and it was the very same place where
Jeremy was now living. This apartment was way more than what Jeremy
could afford and Marc decided to pay two thirds of the rent instead of
the usual half and Jeremy signed up for it. The second and third years
were really nice.
Nothing lasts forever and like so many friendships, it was ruined
because of a girl. By the end of the third year, Marc started to go
steady with a girl named Cynthia and she didn't like Jeremy very much.
She wanted Marc all to herself and slowly started putting ideas in
Marc's head whereby Jeremy was only interested in their friendship
because of the financial support he had. This lead to Marc having a
discussion with Jeremy which ended badly and Marc left the apartment and
moved in with her. Jeremy who couldn't afford the apartment tried to
find a flatmate but no one was interested in moving in with him. He
tried to move out but couldn't find a proper apartment with his
financial situation. So he spent the next two years getting into debts.
He eventually went to ask Marc for help and since Cynthia and Marc had
broken up by then he loaned him five grands which was more than enough
to get him sorted but on the condition that he paid up by the end of his
first year after college. After Jeremy finished his course, he looked
around but there wasn't much opportunity and the only thing he got was a
job as a lab support guy at the college and started paying Marc back.
With him having last his job it was unlikely that he would be able to
pay Marc back in the near future.
As he realised that it was Marc on the phone he felt a chill going down
his spine, he thought that Marc was probably phoning him to get his
money back and he didn't have good news for him.
"Hi J how are you doing?" came from the phone.
"I'm fine Marc just a bit tired," Jeremy told him.
"Anyway, I need something from you," the very words that Jeremy was
afraid of came through the device. He still had half of the debt to pay
and he was totally broke. If he felt a chill before, now it felt like
someone had put ice cubes down his back.
"Okay" He managed to say in a trembling voice not totally sure how he
was going to be able to pay the debt.
"Cheer up, I will make it worth your while. How about I cancel the debt
completely?" Marc told him. On hearing those words Jeremy almost
fainted. He wasn't after the money.
"Are you still there?" Marc said.
"Yes, I was just wondering what kind of thing you want me to do? It's
not illegal is it?" Jeremy said hesitantly.
"No don't worry I am not asking you to help me rob a bank," he told
Jeremy.
"It's actually something that you have already done once before," he
continued. "So it shouldn't be too difficult."
Jeremy was a bit puzzled with what Marc was asking of him.
"So what do you want from me?" he asked.
"I want you to dress up as a girl and dance with me just as you did
during hell week," he told Jeremy in a kidding tone.
Jeremy was so surprised by the request that he thought it was a joke and
started laughing.
"I am being serious. It's either that or you pay me the debt," he told
Jeremy in a stern tone.
Jeremy thought of his options and answered. "Okay I'll do it," he said.
