****An hour before the Great Shift****
"Nice place you got here," Tom began flattering Silvia as they walked into
her apartment, "You'll have to forgive Jake. ?He just got out of a
relationship."
"Well," said Silvia, "he certainly has taken Kiara's fancy."
"Kiara seems to take every man's fancy," Hannah muttered trying to get
Tom's attention, "And I wouldn't be surprised if there were a couple women
in the mix."
"Hannah!" Silvia blurted, "Kiara is our friend!" ?It had become pretty
obvious that Tom was giving her the eye, though her mind was not on
hooking up that night. ?Not since the girls had convinced her she was
infatuated with her downstairs neighbor, Lionel.
"Whatever, you know it's true," said Hannah. ?Although Hannah wouldn't be

obviously not picking up the hint from Silvia.

Hannah stared back blankly, "I'm a twenty-four year old woman. ?Wait."
She paused at the sound of her voice, which clearly wasn't hers, "What the
hell?" ?Silky black hair trickled down the back of her purple footsie
pajamas.
"Okay, there has to be some rational explanation to this," said Tom. ?"I
mean, one minute I was drinking with a couple of ladies, and the next I'm
at some sleep-over at some Asian chick's house."

Suddenly there was a knock on the bedroom door, "Is everything alright?"
echoed a motherly voice as the short, middle-aged woman entered the room,

"Mommy?" said a male voice from behind her, a middle aged man coming into

After much confusion and several screams, everyone met down in the
family's living room, sitting around the television.

was suddenly cut off when she spotted her body getting out of a car along
with Jake and Kiara's bodies and entering the house across the street,

Tom sat on the couch and allowed Hannah to hug her, but everything inside

find Sara-Beth and Rupert," Eliza's mother said, "speaking of, where is my

bolted from the door, running across the street and, for the first time,
began hearing all of the panic going on around in the other neighborhood
homes. ?They could hear Eliza's mother yelling after them, but she was too
drunk and Eliza in her dad's body was too upset to do anything about it.
They walked up to the door they saw Hannah's body enter moments ago and
began knocking until a girl who appeared to be just two or three years
older than their current forms, "I'm sorry, but you two should really go
back to where you ended up until things are more figured out," the girl

your body. ?Maybe they know who was in my body too."
The two teenaged girls powered by Hannah and Tom's minds walked into the
living room to be confronted by an older woman, a nerdy looking boy along

"Hi there," said the older woman, "and who might who two be?"
"I'm Hannah, this is Tom," she started, then pointed at her body, "And you

"Lucky," muttered the nerdy boy.
"Oh, that's who Kiara landed in," said Silvia. ?"This whole mess is

"That goes for your body too," Kiara joked.
"Shut up!" Silvia snapped, feeling the testosterone running through his
veins. ?"Sorry, still getting used to the guy thing. ?At least you got to

"Yeah, just what I'm gonna need," muttered Tom, "You know I'm gonna have
to learn all about my monthly cycle and all that stuff."
"It's okay hun, I'll help you," said Hannah.
Dawn walked in to the room, "Okay, so I think it's time we try and make
sense out of all this madness. ?So everyone take a piece of masking tape
and write their name on it."
Everyone in the room did so. ?After all, even though Dawn's name tag read
"Robert Neeson," and she had insisted on being called by Dawn, she seemed
to be the foremost authority figure in the house. ?It had been revealed
that Kiara had become Greg while Greg had become his own mother, Gloria.
Hannah and Tom identified themselves in the bodies of the two fourteen
year old girls Eliza and Sara-Beth, respectively. ?Silvia was now in
Jake's body, and Jake was now in Hannah's body--and seemed to be having
some difficulty with her larger proportions. ?Meanwhile, Kiara's body
claimed to be Lionel, though no one believed her and continued to tell her
to keep her mouth shut.
Day was beginning to break, and none of them had gotten much sleep;
everyone was too preoccupied with the events of the Great Shift. ?Dawn
paced back and forth keeping an eye on her old house. ?Although she had
now become Gloria's daughter, she was still worried--as any father would
be--about the whereabouts of her family, who were on their way home when
the Shift occurred.
Tom sat up until the sun rose fondling her new breasts while Hannah wasn't
looking. ?She couldn't help but wonder if she hadn't followed her friend
Jake last night how things might have turned out differently. ?It felt

The three of them sat in a circle, being quiet enough now that some of the
others had finally begun to get some sleep.
"So, what now?" Hannah asked, "Do we just try to piece together what's
left after last night? ?I mean, we're fricking teenagers."
"I'd say you drew the long straw of the group," said Kiara, "I mean, we
all have to grow up again, go through puberty and all, but at least you
know what to expect." ?He looked down, "I miss my friends."
"We're all here dufus," Hannah blurted.
"Not you. ?THEM!" Kiara shouted in a whisper, run his fingers on his flat
chest, which only made Tom follow along and feel her own new developments.
"Cut it out you. ?You're only here cuz we met you last night and Hannah
wanted to get in your pants." ?He immediately covered his mouth as the
words escaped his lips.
"Oh MY --" Hannah started before Kiara covered up her mouth too.
"Really?" said Tom, "I don't know what to... ?I mean..."
"Well, there's nothing we can do about it now," said Hannah.
"There isn't?" Kiara egged on.
"Kiara! ?We're teenaged girls," said Hannah.
Kiara raised his eyebrow, "And your point is...?"
Hannah and Tom stared blankly at Kiara. ?Tom found it weird how just
yesterday, she would have loved to see two girls such as Sara-Beth and
Eliza make-out, even if they were teenagers. ?Yet, she couldn't blame
Kiara for trying, being male as he now was.
"Hey, all jokes aside, have you realized how in just a short amount of
time how we've been marginalized as kids by everyone else?" asked Tom,
wrapping her arms around her shoulders.
"Well, what about Doctor Dawn?" Kiara asked, now trying to implement a new
nickname for the professor.
"Give it time, she'll be in with the lot of us soon enough. ?I mean, your
new mom seems pretty matronly for a seventeen year old dude," Hannah
replied.
Somehow, the seriousness of what had happened was only now beginning to
sink in to the three new teenagers. ?Questions such as how something like
the Great Shift was even possible or how people planned to reverse it had
been suppressed up until now. ?
"We need to go back over to the house we woke up in to get some actual
clothes!" Hannah derailed everyone's thought pattern.
"With that crazy mom?" Tom was shocked, "Why don't we just raid Dawn's
closet first? ?She's about our size." ?Tom was stunned at the words she
just spoke.
Dawn walked by, overhearing, "You wouldn't want them. ?The mind behind
this girl's body was pretty slutty." ?Kiara perked up and smiled. ?"Don't
be gross, it hasn't even been a full day yet."
Meanwhile, Lionel sat in the corner watching the teenagers talking, trying
to summon up enough courage to ask Kiara to help her, yet nobody would
