Feminisation 101
Having been a reader of Fictionmania for many years I have finally been
driven to the need to write about the feminisation process, be it
voluntary or forced. I am tired of the five or six line feminisations,
so beloved of many authors. These are of the form:
"I (she) covered my body with cream and a few minutes later in the
shower all my body hair disappeared down the drain I put on filmy nylon
panties and then a bra or being laced into a very tight corset (normally
with oversized cups-big breasts and femininity are not synonymous)
before putting on a suspender belt and stockings, followed by a see-
through blouse and tight mini-skirt. Wig and extra high heels (in which,
miraculously, one can walk without problems immediately) follow. After
make-up, a gorgeous woman is the reflection in the mirror. The "new"
woman then goes out in public and passes completely."
Oh Dear! How far from the truth. In reality, feminisation is slow and
hard work for all involved, but still immensely pleasurable. Yes, of
course it helps to have a female friend to advise and assist; in fact I
would assert that without female help, nothing realistic is possible. So
where should one start. With the body, I think.
Most men are taller and bigger boned than the majority of women;
proportions are not the same either. A tall woman is likely to have more
leg length in her height than a man and nearly always has hips wider
than the torso, hence the delicious curves so beloved by all of us. So
what is the feminisation candidate to do?
Firstly lose weight! Don't kid yourself that your male BMI is fine.
Remember that as you modify your shape, help is needed. Just because hip
and bum pads are usually light, don't forget that they give an apparent
size and thus perceived weight gain. Good prosthetic breasts have
weight. By the way, good breasts are a delight to wear and give terrific
confidence when worn with the right bra. Your BMI has to reflect the
extra fat you will seem to have. If you can afford silicone hip and bum
padding, so much the better and so more natural in weight.
Now to body hair. Ugh! Yes, creams like Veet & Nair work, but the
results are transitory. Much better is waxing or, if you have the money
and dedication, laser treatment, or a combination of the two. There are
beauty salons that will treat men; mine takes me in either gender role.
Regular body waxing is not pain free, though the more often it is done
the less the pain; dependant on what you want to present to the world,
so you chose the options. I prefer, as a minimum, full leg, arms under-
arm, top of chest and shoulders and eyebrows, though sometimes I add
chest and stomach as well. You may want to get away with half legs and
arms, if your feminine role is limited, but femininity is enhanced the
less body hair that is left. Try going as far as having nothing left but
a discrete pubic triangle and thin eyebrows. Lovely! Don't forget that
hairy -hands and toes are so unfeminine! Facial hair will be discussed
later.
Finally have a regular pedicure and, if you can afford it manicure as
well. Clear varnish on both nails and feet is really not visible but so
agreeable. Well cared for feet make wearing women's shoes so much more
comfortable.
So now we have the body prepared, well almost. There is one more
subtraction to be made. No, you don't need surgical castration, but a
cosmetic equivalent is very necessary. You don't need me to tell you how
to tuck. Some people advocate taping things away, but I don't agree, as
one of the benefits of shape wear is that the knickers help keep all in
place. If you've never tried it, slip a wide and long sanitary pad
between legs and over the hidden penis. This will give additional
rounding and smoothness to this area. Never had a period? No, of course
not, so try a wetted pad instead. After a week with the pad regularly
changed, worn even in bed, you'll have the soreness & irritation felt by
many women at the end of a long and difficult period. By the way, when
you do this, don't forget an intimate feminine deodorant sprayed
regularly here. Too old to have periods? No problem; just use
incontinence pads for ladies. If you want to push the idea a little
further try women's incontinence briefs. It's so easy to buy everything
you need in Boots or any other Chemist (pharmacy/drug store).
In thinking of subtraction, I have not mentioned inches to be subtracted
from the waist. Why? Well, if the hips are properly enhanced, then the
waist is in reasonable proportion , so ordinary shape-wear gives the
look. It is said that the perfect figure has a waist equivalent to hips
x 0.7, but let us be reasonable, even 0.8 works. For those of a more
fetishist frame of mind, old fashioned corsets can be worn. There are
probably lucky people who can achieve the waist they want with a good
corset and, I am reliably informed by a friend, that a well fitted,
tailored corset does all the right things without pushing unwanted flesh
to visibility elsewhere. Cheaper ones are less of a good investment.
Modern shape-wear is lovely and effective, so invest well into these
garments.
But before considering the shape-wear knickers, don't forget your hip
and bottom pads, unless you are incredibly fortunate to have a more
feminine form. One day somebody will come up with a properly padded hip
and bum form that will allow one to wee sitting down comfortably. But
inevitably, it will be very expensive. There are a myriad of products on
the market, so take your pick. Padded pantie-girdles, rubber knickers
claiming to produce the perfect female shape, etc. Be cautious. The
buyer must always be on her guard. If you are buying hip and bum pads,
buy the best you can afford. I haven't tried any of the newer silicone
forms, but I am sure that they give better shape and feel.
Now to controlling knickers. Marks & Spencer (UK) does some lovely high-
waist magic knickers that really work. I don't think that they take
"inches off", but they give a lovely smooth line, up and over the waist
to below the bust. There are others. Spanx is an American mark that I am
told, works well. The one problem, which real women have also, is how to
go to the toilet when wearing a high line girdle, without having to
partially undress. Get advice from female partner and practice often,
is the only advice that I can give.
You will now, in some respects be a flat-chested woman. So to breasts.
Feminine/female does not require huge boobs. Yes, the modern woman has a
bigger bust than her mother; fortunately there is now sufficient variety
in bras for her to be both comfortable and pretty. Small pert breasts
are just as feminine as large ones and our goal is to be a woman, isn't
it, not a monstrous parody-a drag queen in bad taste? So to work.
Prosthetic breast forms are fairly easily available and the costs vary.
Again buy the best you can afford. Most of us buy through mail order,
but if you have the possibility of being fitted with breasts and bras,
so much the better; remember however, should you have this possibility
to be careful of the impact you may have on other customers in the
store. Buying from a TG/TG store is not a problem Doreen Fashions in
London (www.doreenfashions.com ) has a lovely proprietor and a good
selection. If the store that accepts you as a customer is frequented by
post- op clients, please remember that their needs are so much greater
than yours. Please be considerate. But I have to say that a bra fitting
when wearing self adhesive breasts is a lovely experience and to be
savoured and valued should the chance come your way.
So now you are near to a female shape. Just remember the time that it
has taken and the money spent and you are far from ready to go out.
Quick feminisation! Forget it! Oh, we haven't even started to talk about
body maintenance. You'll need creams for your legs and arms. Apply after
a bath, but only then when you have been over your whole body with a
rough skin scrub. Don't forget the powder and the deodorants.
Now Clothes. Are you old or young, short or tall, slim or stout. There
are clothes for you everywhere waiting to be bought. Tall? Try Long Tall

presence has good and well fitting clothes, a great mail order service
and generally helpful staff regardless of the gender mode you are in.
Please please, however remember your objective. Not drag queen, but
unremarkable woman. Your goal is to spend a day as a woman, shopping,
lunching, going to a movie or the theatre, taking a walk. You do not
want to be pointed out as obviously a bloke-in-drag. Passing perfectly
may not be possible, but passing muster so that 7/10 people don't even
notice you and that of the 30% who do, the bulk just let you pass
without even a backwards look. Clothes therefore are vital. Dress your
age and dress appropriately. Even if you are young, mini-skirts are
probably not appropriate unless you are comfortable with a mini worn
over leggings.
Your partner will help, or, if she is not disposed to support you, read
women's magazines, an enjoyable thing to do anyway, and see the styles
that are both of the moment and suitable for you. Unless you really want
to go retro, and who doesn't love the 50's look, full skirts & nipped in
waists, you'll have to accept the fact that 80% of women, most of the
time, wear trousers. Still, be feminine. Can you find side-zipped
trousers, or even, and this is really retro, rear-zipped trousers? Women
wear colours, so think of some floral patterned pants for summer. Why
not try Capri-pants and a frilly blouse.
Whatever you d,o invest wisely. When you get to a certain level of
competence and comfort always let the woman do the shopping. I have yet
to encounter a sales lady who hasn't been helpful. The first "Can I help
you madam?" is to be treasured. Don't forget coats and rain-wear.
Exercise wear, a tennis dress, even a swimsuit are nice to have in a
wardrobe. You can wear leggings and a woman's top for yoga or gym
without raising eyebrows. Don't forget scarves, gloves, jewellery
please. Shoes, we haven't even discussed yet.
Walk through your local shopping centre and look. How many women are
wearing impossibly high heels? Hardly any! Look in the shoe shops. Same
thing! More & more flats or simple courts with 1-1,5inch heels are the
norm. Don't be trapped into the belief that to be a woman you have to
have the highest heels available. They will kill your feet, you'll walk
badly, you'll risk injury and, worst of all, you'll risk looking like a
tart, cheap or otherwise.
Now what about your make-up? This is not the place to review the ways of
feminising a male face, but there are ways. Get professional help to get
you on the right path. Lessons from a dressing service are always worth
having, even though expensive. Now I go to, for example MAC and have
make over with their cosmetics, when I need to replace products, which
of course I buy afterwards.
Finally you will need a good wig. It is worth trying, using wigs of
medium cost, to find the style that suits. When you are fully sure, buy
the most expensive you can afford BUT also buy a second identical. You
are aiming to be a normal woman and their hair doesn't change from day
to day, except in minor styling ways.
Now you are a woman! Or are you? Standing still, provided you stand
right and with confidence, you look like a woman, but what happens when
you move. Can you walk properly? Can you sit down elegantly? There is
nothing worse than a tired tranny, sitting down, legs wide apart,
looking like a wreck. Can you handle your hand bag properly? Can you
make an effort to talk properly?
If you can do all these things, then congratulations. But consider the
time spent. Look at the money spent. Just remember, feminisation is a
long process, demanding many resources and a huge amount of dedication;
