"Remember, honey my brother is stopping by soon. He just called from the
airport to let us know he's on the way."

keep doing that. She stopped in front of the large mirror in their

going to be an adult hit her. 'I'm already 36, but I don't feel like it.

thought. Marie wore a floral skirt that went to her knees, matched with

set for the next stage of her life. Just as she was feeling satisfied
with her life the doorbell rang.

between books and was locked in his room once again, she sighed to

shook her hand, while she was surprised at the fact that this large man
turned out to be the younger brother.
"Please, come in." They walked to the couch and had a seat, with Marie
taking the couch and Marcus on a large chair, and Marie started the
conversation.
"So what made you decide to come visit us?"
"Oh, well, I heard my brother was getting married soon, and I just had

"I've heard, I've heard. So, are you thinking about settling down soon?

As Marie's mind worked around her new history of living with her brother

"Mom? Is that Jim's brother?" Alex came down the stairs. Marcus looked

"Hi there, are you her child," Marcus asked Alex, motioning to Marie.
"I'm Alex. Hi."
"Nice to meet you. Were you enjoying a video game just now?"

to his mom on the couch, "I was just telling your mother about Jim's
engagement to me."
"You mean to my mom?"
"No, your mom isn't getting married, I am. Remember, you live in this
house with Jim don't you?"
"Yeah, but my mom is getting married. To Jim." Normally Alex would be
much more riled up, but for some reason he felt a wave of calm as he
questioned Marcus' logic.

living in this house with them as well. Jim is finally getting married
to me later this year, don't you remember how you thought how you were
glad that he'd finally get married?"

Even though Marcus disliked this kid, he didn't want him to dislike his
Jim like that, "no you don't hate Jim, you guys used to argue, but now
you guys get along fine, you can't even remember the last time you

Marie was taken aback, "what? Alex is my son. I'm not going out with

"How can you have a son? You've never been married, let alone have a kid
before."

"Yes she has, I'm her son," Alex insisted.
"You two aren't related, I'm telling you that right now. It's
impossible. How can you be related when you're going out all the time?"
Marie and Alex both registered the movie outing they were supposed to
do, and tied it in to Marcus' history, though Marcus wasn't aware.
"We do go out a lot," Marie looked at Alex. "That's right," Alex
responded to Marie's prompt. "She's even taking me out for my 18th
birthday two weeks from now."

already been going out for years, remember? All the dates, the nights
