Prologue
"Friend request sent," was the message that flashed across the screen.
With that, I went to bed.

I was lying in a bed that I knew wasn't my own as I roused. I heard a
familiar voice from distant past, one that is mildly Spanish accented.
"Good morning, beautiful," it said. "Don't be upset, but something
happened that only one of us may be happy about."
I opened my eyes and as they came into focus, I saw an older version of
someone I knew long ago. He possesses the looks and physique of Mario

I could feel my brow contort. The thought of my new reality wasn't

questioning the question at the same time.
Estuardo. Esty, for short. That's his name. We were classmates and
friends in the sixth grade.
"Yes," I replied.
But I was super curious as to how this came about.
He explained that he had been ready to settle down in life and wasn't
having success with any of the women he was dating. He tried everything.
Bars. EHarmony. Match. Blind dates. He had all but given up when he
visited a psychic to see if there was something perhaps 'cosmically'
wrong. What the psychic told him was so far fetched that he didn't
believe it. At least not until this morning, that is. She told him of a
full moon that was to occur days from their meeting. On the night of that
full moon, he would receive a friend request from someone he made knew in
his youth - a now lost acquaintance. When he accepted the request, it
would deliver this person to him in the form of his wife. His days of
worrying were soon behind him.
"You are sure you're okay with this?" he leerily asked.
I nodded in agreement.
"Then what are you thinking about right now?"
"Two things: first, I have to pee," I said.
"The second thing?" he asked as I disappeared behind the bathroom door.
"Do you want children?" I asked at the door as I instinctually pull my
panties down and sat on the toilet. There's silence for a moment on his
end. I had to reassure him that it wasn't a trick question.
"Um... Yes. Yes I do."
I smile to myself.
"Good. Then call into work sick today."
