Chapter 3 - Setting Up Shop
Sarah and Violet spent the next two weeks dressing the store in the
lobby, for the expected shoppers. They took their time, making sure the
racks were properly organized by sizes, and also separated by colors.
Being how Sarah was more traditional, black short and long sleeved
leotards dotted the racks, hung up on hangers, and dressing some of the
display mannequins. Violet took extra time, helping to setup practice
tutus, bags, and shoes.
As Sarah watched Violet, she smiled, remembering when she was in
Violet's shoes, and her momma was watching her. Sarah smiled, as the
memory returned, and Sarah was sure it would be time, soon enough, to
give Violet her own welcome. Sarah had gotten a call from her friend
Marissa, a few minutes into the setting up. Violet had heard part of
the conversation, but it seemed there was more going on, so she held her
curiosity as long as she could, looking at her momma.
"Violet, sweetie, it seems my good friend Marissa is going to be coming
by soon, with some kittenettes she found. Apparently, they have been
hiding over in the old juvenile detention facility on Kettlewood St.
You didn't happen to see any of them there, did you?" Sarah asked,
wondering if there were others around the town she would need to keep an
eye out for.
Violet looked at Sarah, and blinked. "No Momma. I had not heard of
other kittens hiding out." She fidgeted a little, nervously.
Sarah noticed the fidgeting, and decided to press on it. "Kitten
Violet, what are you not telling me?"
Violet paused, and looked at her momma. She gulped, and then started
telling what she knew.
"When I first got to town, momma, the girls were using the building as a
shelter. They offered to let me stay with them, but I didn't like the
look of the place. It didn't seem safe. But the girls all told me,
they had been staying there for a year, and hadn't had any problems.
Still, I didn't think it would be smart, to stay there. So I moved on,
and found the theater. I was going to say something to you, momma,
about them, but I honestly didn't think about it, until we got back from
lunch. And by then, your phone had rung, and then you came out to tell
me the news, about them being found."
Sarah looked at her kitten, in her leotard and tights, and nodded.
"Well Kitten, you made a good decision, not to stay there. It has been
abandoned for a long time. But I am concerned you didn't tell me you
knew of some younger kittens who needed help. I am sorry however you
are going to get a spanking for not telling me of a kitten safety issue.
Now, I don't want to spank my kitten, but I feel this needs to be
corrected, and you need to learn to tell me, when a kitten or kittenette
is in trouble. So come over here, Kitten Violet."
Violet nodded, and hung her head, as she walked over to her Momma. She
stood next to her, and gulped. Sarah reached out, and gently helped her
kitten across her lap, bottom up, and flipped the dance skirt up. She
looked at her kitten's round bottom, and raised her hand.
"I am sorry Kitten," she said, as she brought her hand down, with a loud
SMACK. She remembered what her momma had told her, when she had been
freed of her kitten collar, and cupped her hand. The sound of the
spanking was louder than the actual impact of the spank. The
psychological impact of the noise, was what corrected most kitten
behavior issues. Nine more times, Sarah's hand smacked down on Violet's
upturned bottom. Each SMACK brought a little yelp, and a wiggle from
Violet, as she whimpered and promised to be a good kitten.
Sarah took a moment when she was done, with Violet still over her lap,
to look at her kitten's leg muscles, and her thighs. She could see the
muscles there were developed, but under-toned and in need of a little
more exercise. She slowly lifted her kitten up, and sat her on her lap,
and gave her a hug and a kiss, soothing her. "Kitten, please don't make
me ever have to spank you, for not telling me about some kittens in
trouble, ok?"
Violet whimpered, and sniffled a little, before she nodded. "I am
sorry, momma. I should have said something sooner, but I was scared
when we first found each other. And since then, well, you have been so
kind to me, I just got lost in the love you were showing me."
Sarah nodded, and hugged her kitten. "I know kitten. But younger
kittens and kittenettes need to be protected. But Marissa found them,
and they're safe. It seems, they were found a year ago, but they never
allowed themselves to be caught, until about the same time I found you,
so they were not in any real danger. Still, it was something that
needed to be addressed. But now that it is over and done with, we have
some new kittenettes to outfit."
Chapter 4- Alert and Exodus
Sarah heard the shop phone ring around 10 AM. She listened as Violet
spoke briefly with someone, and then screamed. Sarah was rushing to her
kitten's side, as the phone clattered to the floor. Violet looked
scared, terrified even.
"Violet, what's wrong dear?"
"Momma...I...I felt...something...coming from..the kitten shelter.
Like...not fear...more like...unexpected surprise...curiosity...then it
just...dropped away. Oh Momma...something is happening."
Sarah had her phone out, and was just beginning to dial, when it rang.
She looked at the caller ID. It was Erika calling her.
"Erika...you're where? You mean...but so soon? Of course she is with
me. No...I haven't told her anything. What do you mean? Oh, those
people. I will. Yes, I am activating the system now. No, don't worry
about us. We will get thru this. Hey, it is what we were preparing
for. Did the kittenettes and the kittens with you, get their dance
outfits? Ok. That's good. Oh, I heard the announcement. Be safe, my
friend. And please, stay in touch."
Sarah hung up, and looked at Violet. "Kitten, things are going to get
weird here in town, for a bit. I want you to remember this. I love
you." Sarah hugged her kitten close, and then turned to her computer.
She opened a special program, and entered in the master code, and the
password. She selected some options, and then smiled dreamily, as she
clicked the EXECUTE button.
Outside, and around the town, special devices activated. Memories were
modified, erased, deleted, or altered to make things blank out. In the
internet, a fast moving worm spread out, erasing files and information
on the kitten academy, the student lists, contact information, and a
host of other data. Nothing was left, that would let anyone betray the
trust of the school to people who didn't need to know.
Sarah and Violet came to, hugging each other. Sarah gently stroked her
kitten's hair, and soothed her. "There, there, my precious darling.
Momma has you. Nothing is going to hurt you. It was just a bad dream."
Around town, Cougars were hugging their kittens, as the effects of the
neutralizers wore off. Humans who lived in town grew fuzzy and drew
blanks, when they tried to remember the Kitten Academy, the Kitten
Shelter, and a host of other buildings. No names came to mind, as to
who the owners were, or even about the strange things occasionally
reported. Those special few who had been briefed on the special
security system, didn't remember anything more about it. The only
indication it had been triggered, was a password prompt on the chosen
people's computers. Only a handful of people knew about the system, and
none of them could activate the removal system without the password.
As the town came back to normal, or what they thought was normal, a
fleet of black suburbans pulled into the main streets, and up to lots.
Men and women in black suits, dark glasses, and without any IDs visible,
began putting people into the backs of the vehicles. Sarah and Violet
were led out in handcuffs both trying to ask what was going on, what the
meaning of this was, and who the people were. Sarah fought like a
mother protecting her child, and it took 4 agents to hold her down, to
put the cuffs on her. Violet took two agents to handcuff her, as she
struggled to get to her momma.
"Ms. Owens, you and this young girl are coming with us. We have some
questions to ask you." The agents said, as they got in the suburban,
and drove out of town. Sarah and Violet could see others being loaded
up, some cuffed, some obviously confused and concerned. Radio chatter
seemed to indicate a sweep, looking for specific names. Sarah had
hardly heard some of the names in passing, let alone knew who they were.
She looked instead at her kitten, and smiled, trying to calm her down.
