A note to potential readers from the editor.
Fans of the prior stories in this series have often asked over the years
for us to do more of the story.
As much as that is appreciated by the both of us, we feel the story is
basically complete.
Because of the demand for something more, back in 2012 we finally
decided to bat around some ideas
and see if we could come up with a nice thank you for the fantastic
readers of our little saga.
I took our rough ideas and notes on the character's futures and
fashioned a story to fit them into the following series epilogue, sort
of a Christmas card from both the characters and us to you
for the holidays.
Eric approved the result, made a few choice additions, and it was given
a final rewrite and edit.
You now have the results in your choice of reading device, which we hope
you will all enjoy.

The Epilogue:
"Happy Holidays to All Our Friends and Family!"

A decade later...
If our life were a movie, we would zoom in through a gentle snowstorm
into a window of a family home and see a mother and father talking, and
occasionally laughing about how their lives have changed so much since
they swapped bodies many years ago. The movie would flashback to prior
films of various family members in the wrong bodies, and then an entire
neighborhood randomly swapped by a little girl wielding a device that
should only exist in science fiction novels.
While enjoying that romantic dinner meal in front of a dining room
fireplace they recalled their own adventure a little later when they
first met and body-swapped with each other. A question naturally arose
from that casual conversation. Would either of them want to swap back
after ten years... The man spoke first.
"My dear, do you ever miss being a man, being a father and husband? It
is our tenth anniversary soon, and I almost feel like I have spent more
time in your handsome, (if I say so myself,) former body than you have,
honey."
"No, not really. I love having the body that you grew up in. I count
my blessings that I can be you every day. And I think I am the better
for having your body. I hate to admit it but I was a pretty lousy dad
to my kids for years after my first wife died... but becoming you, and
especially being your wife, has given me a second chance with my
children, and I wouldn't trade that for the world! Thanks to you - and
being you - I am a far better mother... and grandma, hard as that is to
say, than I ever was as a father! How about you?"
"Well you sure don't look like a grandmother, honey, I must say!" He
took a minute to give his wife a long passionate kiss. "Don't get me
wrong, I loved being in that body most of the time, but being a husband
and your lover all these years just seems right for me too, babe! I
think it was fate that we exchanged bodies and lives! I honestly
wouldn't trade back for all the money in the world!"
After dinner was over and the dishes were loaded into the dishwasher,
the couple moved to the living room and chatted more about the past ten
years. The discussion reminded the lady of the house to grab a laptop
and finish writing a Christmas holiday email updating everything for
their children who now lived in other states, as well as other relatives
and friends. She turned on the small computer and read the letter out
loud to her husband as she picked up where she had left off earlier...

Happy Holidays to all our friends and family!
Hard to believe it has been ten years since we got engaged!!! After the
big body-switching accident our youngest daughter unwittingly unleashed
more than a decade ago, it took a few years to settle all the chaos and
the lawsuits that resulted. Some refused to be swapped back for a
while. Later, several people even demanded to be put back into the
bodies they had briefly possessed! Others claimed to have been swapped
but they were really faking it attempting to get new, better bodies.
Proving and disproving all those claims was quite a distraction. I
could empathize at the time with many of them, but we were advised by
our lawyers not even to try to swap any more people at the time after
everyone was themselves once more.
So we limited use of the equipment to just a few well thought out but
secret swaps that both people were in agreement of. Mostly a few people
who were certain they were born in bodies of the wrong gender.
Back then we chose to make several appointments with a gender
psychologist before making the decision to permanently stay switched
ourselves. Naturally he was reluctant to believe us! The doctor called
in an associate of his to help convince us we were both delusional.
"There is no such thing as swapping bodies, it only happens in a few
mediocre movies and some bad TV shows!" they both insisted to us in the
last session. They even claimed the neighbors had suffered from the
same rare mass hallucination. We could not convince them otherwise.
So we invited them over for dinner a few nights later and demonstrated
the infamous device on the shrinks themselves! Recalling their
reactions to being in each others bodies gave us both a laugh or two
over the years since.
Did I mention that one doctor was male and one was female? When they
finished examining their new bodies, we explained to the two doctors how
well being swapped had worked for us, and that we wanted to share it
with others in need.
After some debate they decided it would be helpful to their careers as
gender psychologists that they spend a few weeks as each other. Which
they did. After that we had a steady client list via the two
psychologists of gender challenged folks who were willing to start new
lives in new bodies, but with the gender they desired. All on the
secretive side of course.
Oddly, the two shrinks they had briefly swapped came back a few years
later and asked to try another exchange. Seems they had never gotten
over the experience of being in each others bodies and wanted to try it
out again. They were supposed to swap back after a long vacation
together but never came back for the appointment to swap back.
Taking a break to stretch his legs, the husband brought a letter from
the desk nearby from one of the shrinks. He read it out loud to his
wife for her to use in the letter they were writing. The doctors had
admitted to each other how they both realized they had specialized in
gender issues because they had some of their own issues etc...
To make their long story short, the two doctors had decided to switch
with each other again, knowing how well it had worked out for their two
new friends and former patients as inspiration. The letter from the
shrinks wrapped up with a picture attached to a final page. The husband
continued reading it to his wife as she took notes for the Christmas
message.
"As both of you well know, the pictures which everyone else will assume
are pictures of me in my bikini on our honeymoon in the Bahamas are
actually pictures of my lovely new husband in my former body. Isn't he
beautiful! I think I will keep him. (in that bikini, that is! :)
That is right, like most of our patients we send you, we are making the
switch permanent! And we can't thank you both enough for the
opportunity!"
After a pause for some refreshing eggnog, the woman continued to type
out the holiday letter to their extended families...
"As you already know we are still switched and married, and not long
after we married we added two MORE kids to the family roster! Since
becoming a mother and a teacher, I seem to have developed the rep at her
school of being an easy but fair grader. As the current stay at home
inventor my lovely husband has had only one new major invention - an
oddly effective way to take the gas out of beans and the smell out of
cooking cabbage. As a formerly female teacher she had always hated the
smell of cabbage! In her now male body he took well to science and with
a few suggestions from 'the wife' he invented the smelly cabbage odor
remover. It made our family rich. I'm trying to be modest, but I have
to admit we really made a small fortune from the stink of cabbage!
Of course he generously shared credit for the 'Cabbage Neutralizer' with
me for the press conference and TV talk shows. We are now known as
world benefactors, mostly because as a side effect of removing the gas
and smell, the invention altered the cabbage pollutants and the unique
byproduct has eased the hole in the Ozone and slowed global warming! We
even received a congratulatory phone call from the President herself!
Apparently there is some talk of a Noble prize in our future.
Meanwhile, as a wife and mother, I became concerned about local
politics, and when the children began kindergarten I became a leader
politically as an Independent. Most folks remembered that I, or rather
my husband had 'solved' that freakish body-swap problem that had plagued
the town years back... and that really got out the voters for me!This
year I was elected mayor while running on a platform for 'solving and
reversing' the ozone dilemma and promoting affordable solar power for
everyone. But enough about us...
More family updates! Our eldest daughter Jennifer graduated college and
is married with two young kids to her husband Richie, who has a good job
as a veterinarian. Jen is a stay at home mother homeschooling the kids
thanks to a small trust fund from her doting dad and stepmother. (Non-
evil stepmother as she likes to call me... ;) She is considered the
best dressed woman in her town, plus she is active in charities.
"Her brother Jason has become an engineer with a good promotion
recently. He married his college GF Carly who adores him as he
"understand her so well" as she like to say. They have no kids yet, but
they are happy to allow us to announce that they expecting their first
visit from the stork in March! Congratulations Jason and Carly!!!
?Their youngest sister Lisa must have inherited the same brilliance as
her dad, as she skipped every other grade in both high school and junior
high! Graduating early from college at age 16, she plans to make a
career transforming the coal industry into an truly clean future. She is
currently experimenting with a variation of the cabbage gas scrubber but
using coal.
Lisa may also have inherited some of the same notorious lack of
attention of her father, as there is a boy hanging around who really
likes her but she doesn't even know his name... (But we do, and Bill
has been invited to stop over for Christmas dinner. We understand a
ring may also be scheduled to show up!)
(Shhh! Everyone keep it a secret! We want Lisa to be surprised! ;)
And that wraps up our family's current adventures! We hope the next
year proves equally happy and exciting for us and all of you!

The happy husband and wife signed the letter and sent it off to all they
knew the next day!

Postscript...
At the end of Christmas day, one of Jennifer's young twin sons, Michael,
age 4, is playing in the basement of his grandfather's house with his
equally young niece Heather, age five, who lived just down the road.
Michael uncovered an old sci-fi toy gun... and he playfully zapped her
with it! Little did either child realize the toy was really the long
thought lost prototype body-swapping gun from more than a decade ago!
Suddenly holding the gun, Heather drops it and runs home to her mother!
Meanwhile Michael, the boy twin suddenly in her body runs off to play
cops and robbers with friends down the street, bringing the 'toy gun'
with him...or rather her... And spies two boys playing across the
street.
"Look! I'm the cop!" the first boy said, holding a toy police car in
his hand.
"No! I wanna be the cop!" the other boy said.
Zappppp! Zappppp! Michael said as he pulled the trigger of the toy gun.
And suddenly the other boy was the cop! The little boy smiled at the
toy car he wanted in his hand, but wondering why his hand was a
different color.
Someone sneaked up on little Michael, surprising him. Whirling around,
he fired the toy gun at them in surprise... It was his grandparents
holding a lollypop and asking for the toy gun. He smiled and laughed...
The toy gun was more fun that a lollypop! He ran off to find his other
friends in the nearby park!
The grandparents looked at each others new/old faces.
"Here we go again!" the former father said to her husband as they chased
after the little girl with long blonde hair in a pretty pink dress who
was now their grandson.
Absolutely the end!
