"Keith, you're making such a big deal out of this. It's not real, just
relax!" my older brother David tried to calm me down as we waited in line
for the scariest and most terrifying haunted house in the Midwest,
Neurosis.
The attraction itself locked in on people's fears and found ways to make
them piss and shit their pants, at the same time. It wasn't for the faint
of heart, and it even had the toughest, most unbreakable of people coming
out shaking. I'd paid a hefty fee of $40 for something that I wasn't going
to even enjoy.
"I can't believe I let you talk me into this!" I barked at David, who was
more than excited to have dragged me there. Coming from the exit out of
the other side of the building were three girls who were as terrified as I
had seen anybody.
"Don't let them discourage you, they're girls! Of course they're gonna be
scared!" he tried to persuade me. It wasn't working.
The closer we got to the entrance the more nervous I became. When I walked
in, the staff would surely get a picture of me cowering in fear and put it
on their website. People like me were a part of their marketing strategy.
What made this haunted house unique was its use of a wide variety of scare
tactics. Everything from monsters, to loud bangs and clashes, I'd even
heard there was a part where you come within a feet of a semi-truck
running into patrons.
From outside I could hear the loud, shrilling screams of the guests before
us. Their echos pierced through the night sky, as if to give a warning to
those who awaited.
"I don't feel so good about this," I groaned, my voice trembling.
"Quit being such a damn pussy, Keith," David turned and said. Even though
he was my brother, David could be a dick at times. Whenever me and him
went somewhere together, he would always try to take charge, like he had
authority over me. It was almost as if he didn't respect me at all.
"Whatever," I said and decided not to give him another moment of thought.
I'd never been a person who wanted to do these types of things. The only
time I did, in fact, was when a brother or someone I knew wanted me to tag
along. My Achilles heal was not having the courage to say "no." It was a
simple, two-lettered word that could have gotten me out of this mess.
Unfortunately, here I was, just moments away from embarrassing myself to
the point where David would have a story to tell for years, at my expense.
The group in front of us went inside, leaving me and my brother as the
next ones up.
"Can I see your tickets?" The attendant at the door held out his hand. Me
and David both gave ours to him as he scanned them and placed them in a
bucket. "Please stay with your group, no flash photography, no profanity,
no filming, no touching the staff. Any questions." We both shook our heads
side to side and he opened the door. "Come on in." He signaled with his
hand as me and David walked into my demise.
The first room was designed like a sewer with fake radioactive waste
running with the water. All of a sudden an animatronic alligator came out
from one of the openings on the wall, making me flinch. David chuckled a
bit as I regained my composure.
As we walked further in, strobe lights became more prominent. Before we
knew it see-through walls were on both sides of us. A deranged surgeon
dashed to the wall and banged on it loudly, making me jump again. It also
caught David a bit off guard too.
"Alright, alright," he gave his props and somewhat admitted defeat.
What we approached next was something that I would have never expected, a
fork in the pathway. To the left said "Face Your Fears" while the right
was labeled "Scream Like a Girl." David and I stood still in our tracks,
pondering which direction to go.
"I got an idea, Keith," David proposed. "How about I go to the left, and
you go to the right. Deal?" My first instinct was to say "hell no" and
follow his lead. Then again, if I were to do that, he would never get off
my case and every time I got scared he would relish it in. I couldn't let
him do that.
"Sounds like a plan," I said with a smirk on my face. Not that I was at
all confident, but I took in a little bit of pride that I had found a way
to rid myself of him for at least some period of time. Without another
word we went our separate ways and I was now on my own.
It got darker as I began to regret going on my own. I felt lonely and
vulnerable without David by my side. "No way I just thought about that." I
diverted my mind of him as I continued my trek.
An actor dressed like a killer clown jumped out at me as I almost fell
backwards. He honked his horn at me and then ran off. My chest felt
heavier, likely due to the heart attack I almost had.
I found myself walking through what appeared to be a warehouse and looked
around. Fake wooden boxes were stacked against the walls as the lights
flickered on and off. A support beam came loose and fell from the ceiling,
falling in front of my face and sending me back a few steps.
It went back up on its own as I grabbed my midsection, which felt stiffer
and more constricted. Obviously my fears was really getting to my nerves.
"It's all fake, none of this is real," I repeated to myself several times
before taking a deep breath and moving on.
Fog filled the next area as I peered around to get a glimpse at what
awaited me. Before I could get one, a disfigured butcher with a chainsaw
ran out as he pointed it at me hostilely. I fell back onto the floor and
landed on my rear. It felt like I was sitting on a pillow and as I picked
myself up off the ground, my hips felt significantly wider.
There was no use in hiding it, I was scared, very scared. Walking through
the hallway, a door opened from the side as a demonic head poked out and
laughed evilly. I walked faster as I felt further vibrations occurring. A
vicious werewolf jumped down from a ledge above, suspended by bungee
cables, stomping hard and firm on the ground and sending a shockwave
through the floor and my body.
I decided enough was enough and ran for it. Speeding through as fast as I
could, I'd encountered many more frightening faces and sounds before I ran
into a dead end. Was this all a trick? I began to worry as if I were
actually in a horror movie. Nothing could have prepared me for what
happened next.
Headlights turned on to my left as a big semi truck blaring its horn came
closer and closer to me. Engulfed in its headlights like a deer, I backed
up against the wall, holding myself back as the truck was stopped by its
own brakes. Breathing heavily, I put my hands on my knees to calm myself
down. A door to my right opened to a well-lit room where a weirdly-placed
window hung on the wall.
Approaching it with caution, I took slow steps until I found myself
staring at a young, beautiful woman who wore a white blouse, skin-tight
jeans, and a pair of uggs.
Her wavy brown hair flowed down to her shoulders and framed her appealing,
captivating face. Dark, but alluring eyes complimented her appearance
along with the well-crafted make-up that coated her eyelids, lashes, and
lips. Not to be forgotten was her perfect, straight white teeth.
Big breasts, E-cups at least, prominently made their presence known while
her ass acted as an invitation for catcalls and wolf whistles. She stood
at 5'5" and likely weighed around 115 pounds. If the ideal woman were to
be created, it would look exactly like her.
As I walked away, so did she. Curiosity getting the best of me, I walked
back to look through again, and there she was. Stepping away just
slightly, she followed suit. Freezing in position, she mimicked me. Slowly
holding a had up to my face, she held a hand up to hers as a look of
horror and distraught crept onto her face.
I screamed like a girl, loud and shrilling in a high tone as I held my
hands to my face. The girl in the window did the same. The girl in the
mirror was me, I was looking in a mirror. Just then I realized that I was
wearing a bra and panties underneath my clothes. An emptiness overwhelmed
my crotch. This wasn't fake, this was very real.
"Oh no, oh no, oh no!" I yelped as I ran for the exit to my left. Not
paying attention to where I was going, I ran into a guy waiting outside.
It was David!
"Um, hey," he said to me awkwardly. "Do I know you?"
"David." I put my hands on his shoulders. "It's me, Keith! I know this is
gonna sound weird but this haunted house turned me into a chick!" I
pleaded to him in the most feminine-sounding way possible.
"Look, I don't know what you're on, but do you know where I could get
some?" he laughed before I gave him a hard slap across the face.
"Dammit David, do you always have to be such a douchebag?!" I yelled at
him. He gave me a nasty look as he rubbed at the mark I left on his cheek.
"You and me came here. I chose the right, you chose the left. I was scared
and I didn't want to come here and now look at what's happened to me! I
know you think I'm crazy but you have to believe me me! You're my brother,
and right now I really need you." I started sobbing in my delicate hands.
He hugged me tight and apologized. "I'm really sorry, Keith. I was a jerk
and I should've taken into consideration how you felt. I promise, I'll
find a way, any way, to change you back."
Wiping the tears off my eyes, I broke free of his grasp and looked up at
him with a blush on my face. "David, what if I told you I didn't want to
change back? Would that make me weird?" He looked at me with a smile as we
walked out of the park together.

Sleeping peacefully in my bed, I was awoken by my phone alarm clock. Demi
Lovato's voice played through the speakers before I reached over and shut
it off. Lifting the covers off of me, I climbed out and got ready for the
day ahead. If I was going to make my university's cheerleading squad, I
would have to be on point.
Eating breakfast and taking a shower, I put on a crop top and short shorts
along with sexy lingerie and a pair of flip flops. Driving on the way to
tryouts, I thought about that eventful night at the haunted house. I'd
gone from a boring, lonely loser to a wild, foxy goddess. My parents
happily accepted me as their daughter and through some extensive
paperwork, Keith was declared dead while my current alias, Kenzie, was
given a legal identity.
Arriving at the multipurpose building, I got out of my car and confidently
swayed my hips as I strode towards the entrance. Guys all around stared as

Inside I walked up to the table and signed my name on the sheet. Putting a
heart above the "i" I smiled in almost a smug fashion. I damn well knew I
was a hottie, and I wasn't going to let my good looks go to waste.
Tryouts went as expected, I blew the competition away. Immediately
notified afterwards that I had won a spot, I was given a uniform and was
told to meet on the next Monday. Taking my new outfit home I hung it in
the closet and admired it.
Who knew that a haunted house would have changed my life for the better? I
couldn't thank my brother enough. I was especially thankful for my parents
who were kind enough to buy me an entire new wardrobe of clothes, makeup,
a purse, a new phone, and other accessories.
Thinking about where this life would take my excited me every day. Being a
young, sexy woman was something I loved, and I wouldn't trade it for the
world. Checking myself out in my full-length mirror, I struck some poses
and giggled. "Maybe screaming like a girl isn't so bad after all."
