Faith Anthology Part 1; This is the four short stories centered around Nigel Shaw becoming who he really is, Faith Shaw. The stories will not be in always be in chronological order. I will not be responding to any messages on the thread so do not get offended if I do not answer any question asked. Thank you in advance for understanding. I am Not the Best at Words (The Content of a letter which was slipped underneath the door of a teenage girl's bedroom) We have to talk, and you know I'm not the best with words. My silence the last time we saw each other was over being taken off guard by how you looked. No, I know what you are doing and don't put meaning in my words before I finish my thought. I know why you are going to be defensive, but don't. You know that I love you. You looked so much like my youngest sister, your aunt. I was not expecting that. I was and still am happy for you that you look so good when dressed that way. I know I came home very early from work. I just took a half day to start the weekend and should had called. I did not think you had anything to hide from me. That just came out wrong, you do not have anything to hide from me. It is fine how you were dressed. See what I just wrote came out wrong, like I said I am not the best with words. You ran back in your room before I could say anything, I understand why.You felt shame and you shouldn't, you did nothing wrong. How society looks upon how you were dressed forced you to feel emotions which you should not feel. You need to know that you were doing nothing wrong. I did not follow for I was weak. Yes your old man can be weak. I was weak for I knew no matter what action I took I would make the situation worse. If I would had followed you into your room, you know I would had ended up putting my foot in my mouth and you would had ended up feeling worse about me seeing you how you were dressed. You know how I am not the best at words. I did not follow you into your room and I know you had dark thoughts about how I felt did fill your head.It was the best decision at the time. I figured it would do the least amount of damage to your ego. I could not bare looking at you while me stumbling for the right words caused you more pain. You know that I am not the best at words. I know it was the coward's way out of a bad situation. Like I said I'm not the best with words. I am bad with expressing myself. I could not had counted on my actions at that time to help get the message across of how much I love you and how I want your happiness. I cannot know what you are feeling right now. You are a teenager and you are a typical one, you do not share that much with your parents. Two I never had society send a message to me that how I am is wrong. Then to make matters worse they have no reason to give you why how you are is wrong. I know I was a teenager once so you might be thinking that I understand what it is like to feel like an outcast, nobody understands me, and the world is against me. There is a big difference between how I felt when I was a teenager and how you are feeling. I had no justification in my feeling of alienation, you do for how some people would treat you if they knew the real you. I would not had be able to say that to you for like you know I am not the best at words. I did not even know what name to call you right then or if I should call you son or daughter. It does not matter if you are my son or daughter, I love you. I want to respect who you are and you might now be ready for me to use your real name when addressing you. Or worse I might had slipped up and used the wrong name. You know I am not the best at words. This part is hard, for I need you to know that I will love you the same if you are my son or my daughter. It is just if you are my daughter instead of my son I will treat you differently. That is for the dynamics between a father and son is different than between a father and daughter. Look I used the word dynamics, sounding all stuffy instead of coming from the heart, like I said I am not the best with words. Our relationship changing does not mean I love you less, it means I respect who you are. I want to be the best parent for you that I can be. All I can do is hope I do not mess you up that much while raising you. You are not messed up, that came out wrong. See I am using that stale joke about parents can only hope to not mess up their kids to try to ease the tension I have for not knowing how to be there for you yet. Like I said I am not the best with words. Right now all I can do is show you by my actions how much I loved you. That is why right after you retreated to your safe place, I sat down to write this letter. I did not want you to fret about how I felt about seeing you in that outfit one moment longer than you had to. I could not just say that for, like I said I am not the best with words. By the way it was a great outfit, you have great taste. I hope you are not embarrassed by your old man making a comment on your clothes. I know how teenagers are, if a parents liked something then it must not be hip.Yeah I said hip, like I said I am not the best at words. After writing this I am go to search online for good websites which can help me understand you. Unless we talk I will be looking up a lot right away instead of you and the relationship you have for wearing women clothing. I do not care why, I do care to understand my child so I can be there for you. Like I said we need to talk and I said my piece on what I needed to say. You can say as much or as little as you want. It is your life and you can share as little or as much of it with me as you desired. I want you to know that I will always be there for you. I love you for who you are. I will not let me finding out what you were not ready for others to know hurt our relationship. In fact, I am going to use it to make our connection stronger. I am going to be there for my child. I might not be the best at words but me saying I love you and I will always be there for you is true and the best words I can come up with. Love Dad Don't Sell Yourself Short First dad, do not sell yourself short, what you said in that letter was the best response I was hoping for. I would say it brought tears to my eyes but they were already there. The letter did change the tears of frustration sadness and disappointment in myself into tears of joy, love and acceptance. I am writing this as an email instead of a letter for when I tried to write the pages get tear soaked. Don't worry they are good tears. I know you want to take away all my pain. That cannot be done, but you accepted me and the pain I had the most fear of is gone. I have not lost you when you saw the real me. Another reason I am writing this as an email is for my handwriting betrays how I want to portray myself. I know how handwriting looks is small to you, it is not for me. I want it to show people who I am. I want nice flowy cursive handwriting and I have been working on it so it is how I want it to be. Back in grade school, Ms Quincy used to tell me my handwriting was too nice for a boy. It was meant as a compliment I did not want her to know I did not feel like a boy so I let it become sloppy. I look like Aunt Dorothy! Thank you! Maybe when you are ready we can tell her about how I am. I would love her to be a more direct role model for me. That is of course if she would want to take her niece under her wing. I think she would for how she loves spending time with me as a nephew, it is great how she took over being a mother figure for me after mom died. It makes me laugh when she says being there for me is like having a kid without the hassle and responsibility. I know it is hard work for her. Reading that compliment on my looks meant so much to me. I think Aunt Dorothy is so beautiful. I want to be beautiful but that is not important. I just want to look like the woman I am on the inside. I would not had look like Aunt Dorothy without you. You supporting me in letting me grow my hair out. I know you said you did not care if I grew my hair long, but I saw it how a woman would and I was growing it out. I will say my personality is not like hers. Aunt Dorothy is so much more outgoing and a risk taker. She does not want a family. That is not me, I am more reserve and thought out. I so want a husband and family. I do share some traits with that great woman. I am brave like her but think before I act. I also know that my happiness does not depend if I ever find a man. I so hope that is how mom was. I think it was, she passed away before I formed many memories of her, but I knew I wanted to be like her. I also knew that I would be if I was true to myself. I know you love her dad and I do also. I want to hear more about her, and be like her. Your daughter hopes you see it as being respectful to the kind, caring, and loving person she was and still is in our hearts. I know she would be proud of how you made sure I know I will always have your love and support. You liking my taste in clothes is important to me. I now know that I am not showing too much skin yet at the same time not covering up too much. You saw it as a young woman expressing herself and that is why you are hip dad. You are true to yourself while allowing others do the same so don't sell yourself short. You not following me into my room when I needed privacy was not a sign of cowardice, it was a sign of courage, You gave me the space I needed so I could handle you seeing the real me. Most people would not had been as brave and patient, they would had needed to know what was going on instead of doing what was best for their child, so don't sell yourself short. You are a brave person dad. Dad all teenagers feel alienation and yours was as legitimate as mine. It was your feelings and they came from you felt like no one understood you. That is how I feel also. It is for different reasons but the same feeling. Your letter shows you are empathetic to me, so do not sell yourself short. Right now it is hard for you to slip up,I am both your son and daughter. I know I want to only be your daughter, and hopefully I you seeing me as who I really am help me progress towards that goal. The goal of just being my true self all the time. I want to be daddy's little girl. I used to be so ashamed of feeling that way, how you handle seeing me makes me proud of wanting to always be your little girl. You will look out for me in the way a dad does his daughter. I know if you say son or daughter it will be full of love and that is what is truly important so don't sell yourself short. I love the name Faith, for you gave me the faith in myself to explore who I really am. I know that you and mom would had name me Lana so I go in between using those two names. I know most people do not get to pick their name but I want to go as Faith. I feel like I am a Faith and I am not a Lana. At the same time I want to respect you and mom by going with the name which you would had given me if my body was true to my essence. I could grow into being a Lana. I would love it if we talk about this. You wanting to honor how I see myself by using the right name shows you respect me for who I am, so don't sell yourself short. I know I have not been straightforward in this letter. You have so many questions which you will never ask. You want me to share freely with you, when . You have the right to ask them and I want to answer them. Some of them I do not have the answers. I know I am a woman, my body is just not the right one for who I am. I want to live as a woman. I know it will not start tomorrow. I want to go to school and try out for the cheerleading squad. I know from this letter you will be right at my side during the transition. I know that the days ahead will be hard on both of us. I know you will be sacrificing a lot for my happiness. I also know that it will be worth it for the both of us. I could keep on writing this letter but I want to talk to you about who I am and share everything. I want our connection to be stronger and doing this face to face will do so. Please come to your daughter's room after you read this, I so need a hug from my daddy. You might not think it will give me more strength but it will, don't sell yourself short. Love Your Daughter It Was Easy to Say It was a little after 3:00 on Friday afternoon when the group of ladies cyclist finished gathering at the Cedar Creek Park bike trail access point. It took a couple of months to finally be off on their little weekend excursion of a bike ride and whitewater rafting. The demands of life made it hard for all of them to coordinate a free weekend and half day of work on Friday in unison. It was worth the wait for not only was the weekend going to be filled with fun, they are going to have quality time together with no distractions. Yes they would miss their kids, the man or woman in their life and some modern necessities like indoor plumbing and a nice comfortable bed, but it would be all worth it. Their starting point was 15 miles closer to their destination of Ohiopyle State Park than their first choice, Buena Vista but this one had secure overnight parking. The vehicles would only be parked for two nights, but they choose the security over enjoying the little longer ride on the trail. Plus cutting that little bit off the journey would help the ladies be a little more refreshed for the true reason of this trip, to go whitewater rafting. All the ladies were looking forward to the Class III and IV rapids this part of the Youghiogheny River. The ladies who were virgins to these rapids are looking forward to the challenge. The ladies who had the pleasure of the challenge of navigating those rapids before are looking forward to see their friends' first attempt. As the ladies were about to start their nice trek on the 2% maximum Grade trail Dorothy Shaw's received a phone call from her nephew, Nigel. Those two were close as she took over the maternal role model in his life when her sister in law died while Nigel was a toddler. Even with them having a good relationship, Dorothy knew what her surrogate son call was about had to be important to him. No 14 year old boy calls his Aunt out of the blue to just chat. The other ladies delayed the start of their ride as their friend took the phone call. When she got off the phone Dorothy told her friends she had to cancel going along with them. Family was more important to her and she knew even with Nigel not giving much details over the phone her nephew needed her help and guidance. Even with Dorothy being the one who planned this outing and forward to it the most the other ladies knew it would be wasting their breath and time trying to convince her to change her mind. It might be a minor issue to them but if Dorothy says she has to handle it they knew she was going to handle it. It was true the issue Nigel was having would not seem major to an adult but not to Dorothy. She kept her heart young, so this lady still remembered the issues teenagers had felt major to them. The caring aunt assumed it was something like how to ask a girl he liked out, but she was going to be there to help Sport, her nickname for Nigel, to get the girl. Dorothy was correct in her speculation it was girl troubles, but the troubles was not asking a girl out. ********* The girl issue Nigel had was by his dad saw him dressed as one last week. Dorothy's brother handle the situation the best he could. Instead of trying to pressure his son into telling him why he had a skirt and blouse on, all he did was slip a letter under Nigel's bedroom door. Thenote just told Nigel that his father was there for him or her, that no matter what he would always love his child and be there for them/ Nigel then sent his father an email explaining why he was in a dress, she was transgender. After getting the email, the man who found out he had a daughter instead of a son, knocked on his new daughter's door. As Nigel opened the door, her father hugged her and said "Faith, I love you." Hearing her father called her by the name she picked and the love she felt in the love brought tears to her eyes. Those two talked, Faith's father, Tom, was only supportive and trying to take over the situation At first it made Faith be insecure about any suggestion she gave as she thought her father was not really behind her being who she was. Then he told her daughter, it was her life and she needed to take charge of this. Tom did not want to dictate how Faith was going to handle coming terms with who she was. He would guide her and help her with any pitfall or setback, but she had to make the final decision. Once she was confident enough in doing so her dad would start to give more input. The first big decision Faith made was to show her true self to her Aunt Dorothy. The young lady knew that she would need the guidance and the support of a strong female and she could not think of anyone better or anyone else she would rather have. Her Aunt was a real force of nature. Faith wanted to emulate her Aunt while adding her own personality in being such a strong woman. Wanting to be strong and being strong are two different things. Right now Faith was still trying to find her inner strength so it took her a week to gather up the resolve to tell her aunt. Faith did not fear rejection, Faith feared her personality was not formed enough for Aunt Dorothy to get to know her niece. The phone called went quick, Faith was a little passive on the phone, not sounding like Nigel at all. That was why the phone call was quick, Dorothy knew it was something big to her nephew and had to be dealt with face to face. So Faith got off the phone with her Aunt and sat there in her male disguise waiting to see her. She thought it would be best to ease her Aunt into it, tell her first and show her. As she waited Faith gain strength and confidence in who she was by knowing how important she was to her Aunt. Dorothy had to be off work for she said she would be right over. With her Aunt taking time off from her law practice, she had plans. That would be the only reason she would be available on a Friday afternoon. It touched Faith's heart that her Aunt dropped everything by just getting a phone call from her. Faith told her nothing other than she wanted to spend time with her. Saying what she was going to tell her Aunt had to be done face to face. Faith also did not want to put pressure on her Aunt to do so right away. She waited a long time to be at this point in her life so talking with her aunt could wait a couple of more days. Dorothy went home first to change even with her having to go out of her way. She did not want her nephew to feel that his call stopped her from doing what she had planned. It did but so what, Dorothy would much rather be there for Sport than ride a bike. For her life was about priorities and being the best Aunt she could for Nigel was higher on that list than riding a bike. Faith's favorite aunt showed up and got a big hug. Dorothy notice that the hug was not a normal one from Nigel. It had more warmth in it,not as tight and linger a second or two longer. Dorothy was happy that her brother was not home, this would make the discussion about how to get the girl easier for Nigel. As they sat down Dorothy was going to let what her nephew to just start talking about the issue, for then after they solve it those two could spend time just in each others company. "Hey there Sport, so tell me all about this girl you want to ask out." "Oh, no Aunt Dot, I do not want to ask a girl out." "While then tell me what is on your mind." "While what I have to say is simple yet I do not know how to say it." "If it is simple then just say it. You know me, I like simple for it is straightforward." Nigel looked down "What I might say is simple but what it is not simple." "It does not matter what it is, we cannot deal with it unless you tell me. We can deal with it,now just tell me." Even with Faith thinking it would be best to say it, she knew showing her Aunt would be better. "Hold on I need to go upstairs, when I come back down you would know exactly what it is. It will be a couple of minutes I want to change into something more fitting to tell you." Dorothy was now intrigued. She had a vested interest in whatever the issue her nephew was having before for she wanted to be their for family. Now she had to know for why would he have to change clothes to tell her something? "Sport, go do what you have to do, I will just make myself at home." Faith got herself a couple of tea and drank it while she surfed the net on her phone. After 20 minutes had passed she wonder what was taking Nigel so long. He was taking as long as a girl would. Little did she know him being a girl was exactly why he took so long. Ten more minutes passed and Dorothy swore she heard the clunking of high heels coming down the steps. The curious lady got out of her seat and went to to the living room to she what was causing that annoying noise. The culprit was a young female in a maroon ruched ruffle day dress and black ankle boots with 3" heels. Dorothy put her hands and a smile on her face, she was seeing her niece for the first time and was touched. The loving Aunt notice how much that girl looked like her. Then today made sense, her niece being tentative on the phone, the different hug and having to show instead of telling. Dorothy would had believed her niece if she just said it, but it would not had been so right to Dorothy until she saw it. Faith said "Aunt Dotty, do you like? My dad bought this for me. He knows and was behind me telling you." "Yes I do child, oh yes I do. You look beautiful and also strong." "Call me Faith, my name is Faith. I am transgender Aunt Dotty." Dorothy loved that her niece called her Dotty instead of Dot, it just seemed more fitting. "So Faith you were wrong not only was it simple to say. It is simple also. You are a woman. Now for you to live as one will be hard but living life is hard. I love you and will be there for you." "I love you also. You will help me become the best woman I can be." "Of course I will." The Last Smile Glinda Shaw knew she was teetering on the edge of staying being on the material plane and going to the great beyond. Even with the help of the oxygen tube, each breath she took was laborious and took so much of the little energy she had left. She wanted to close her eyes just to take a little nap, only 5 minutes, but she knew better. If she closed her eyes they would not open again. She would have the time for the neverending nap in 10 minutes Sad little Nigel Shaw was next to his mom. Her little Hugbug did not know exactly what was going on, but knew it was not good. Grownups only whisper around him when he was naughty or something bad has happened or about to happen. Even if the grownups were not whispering around him, all the nurses and doctors coming in and out of the room told him something bad was happening to mom. Doctors and nurses were only around when people are sick and the more that are around the sicker the person was. Glinda smiled as she looked at her son, her pride and joy, and mustered up the strength to say "Nigel I need you to do something for mommy." Before he could hear what it was Nigel said yes. He was going to do anything she asked for Glinda's son wanted to make her happy. Even with his mom putting a happy face on Nigel knew it was not real. If he did what she wanted then maybe that synthetic smile would become real. "Nigel, when your dad supports you and what you want to do say thank you for believing in me to him." "I will mommy." Glinda got all the strength she had for she knew this was the last time her son would see her. She did not wants his last memory of her to be her crying. Her face had the last smile her son ever gave her on as she said in her strongest voice she had in weeks. "I knew you would, now tell daddy I need to see him. I love you Nigel." Nigel was happy for he knew that smile was real. It cannot be that bad if his mom had a real smile on her face. Her little Hugbug gently hugged his mom's tummy and ran to the door to get his daddy. Her husband, Tom, saw the struggle Glinda was having with her eyelids and wished that she would just close her eyes forever. The lady who would always own his heart was in so much pain. The train ride which was her life was pulling into the final stop. He was there to help her take with her whatever she did not have to leave behind. Glinda smile for she knew her man thought she was hanging on for him. To try to give him more time with her. Even with it just being in a cold sterile hospital room, there was no place Tom would rather be, than at his wife's side. Glinda knew it was only 5 more minutes, she was tired and a nap was still calling her. It would be so easy to take that nap and then wake up to do what she needed to do for herself. She knew that she had to stay up past her final bedtime for herself, not her husband. She knew one day he would know that and not beat himself up for thinking she hung on for him. "Tom, it is almost time for you to go. I want to take a nap. But before so I can fall asleep quick I need to ask you to do something for me." "I am not going anywhere Glinda, I am staying while you take your nap. I will do anything for you other than leave your side right now." There was no power which could had made Tom where he was alive. He would had fought both the armies of Heaven and the hordes of Hell to stay for his wife's last breath. He was not going to let her die alone, no one deserves that fate. Glinda was not going to fight her husband right then. She wanted to spare him the pain of seeing her last breath, but knew he had to be there for his sake. He had to be there until the end of phase of their love. She knew that she would always be alive in his heart so they were just moving onto the next phase of their eternal love story. She smiled for his love and devotion to her was more than anyone had the right to ask, demand, or expect. "I need you to tell me you will support our child in his decisions. You will be strong for him and let him be his own person. You will guide him and give him a great path to walk down, but he will be his own person. You need to support him and let him become who he should be." Tom looked down at his wife and his tears fell on her face like a gentle rain. Those tears along with his response of yes gave Glinda the absolution she needed to have the strength to close her eyes. Glinda knew her son would not have to endeavour people trying to make him a clone of them, like she had to with her mother. Before she took the permanent nap, one last smile came across her face."I know you will and I love you." As those words left her body, the beeps on the life support machine left also. The lines on its screen flatline. The nurses did rush to treat not Glinda, she had a do not resuscitate order. They rushed in to treat Tom, they wanted to help the living to carry on. Tom broke down and cry for the first time in decades as the first nurse who came in held him up. Nigel heard his dad crying so he knew something was very wrong, grownup do not cry over spilled milk. Nigel started to cry as he came into his mom's room. Then the dad saw his son and to this day he swore that Glinda gave him one last gift: of the strength to stand on his own so he could hold his son and wipe away both of their tears. No matter how hard he tried Nigel could not stop crying. He knew he had to but wanted but saw it as he was letting his mommy down. "Daddy I am being strong, I am for mommy. I want to be." "I know you are Nigel." Nigel remember what his mom asked him to do and it felt right to say it now."Thank you for believing in me dad." ********* Nigel did not understand why he was happy, he should not be. His mom went away and will not return. Yet, he was happy that his dad was tying his tie, instead just using a clip-on tie. Nigel insisted on getting a real tie, he knew his mom hated clip-on ties. The Hugbug did not want his mom to hate what he wore to say goodbye to her. Nigel knew it was fine to feel that happiness when he saw the look of approval his dad gave him. As the now motherless child guilt from being happy faded away his dad said "Your were right Sport. You mom would had love seeing this tie on you." Something told Nigel this was a place his mom would want him to say "Thank you for believing in me dad." Thinking back on the last vow he gave his wife Tom said "Son I will always believe in and support you, you need not thank me." The boy who was going to become an grown up before his time said. "I do, mommy asked me to do so when you support me. I do not really know what that means, so when it feels like you are I will say so." Tom left out a laugh of joy for he still felt Glinda's love after she was gone. His wonderful wife had made it so each time he was there for their son Tom would remember that last smile she gave him. Death was no obstacle to her to make sure she was still in their lives. "If mommy asked you to do so then always do. Mommy made me make a promise that I will always support you. Your mommy still loves you and each time you thank me for believing in you, you are also thanking her for believing in you. Now we need to get going, people are waiting for us." ************** Nigel's father gave a small elegant eulogy before the preacher gave the formal emotionless one. Father Dowling's words were true but were hollow. It was from he had no real connection to Glinda. His sense of loss was a splash of water compared to Tom and Nigel's tsunami. After he finished Nigel asked his father if he could say a poem he made for his mom to everyone. Tom said yes. As the Priest was going on with the funeral mass Tom walked up to the coffin with his son and told Father Dowling what was going on. Father Dowling smiled at Nigel, it touched him how much that boy loved his son and the priest announced what was going on. Nigel recited the poem he has written in his soul: My mommy went away and will not come back My mommy love me that is a fact My mommy was kind and made me smile My mommy hug me when I was sad My mommy held my hand and made me feel safe My mommy was kind and made daddy smile My mommy kissed my boo boos to make them better My mommy would smile just looking at me that made me feel good My mommy was kind and made everyone smile When I grow up I want to be a mommy like my mommy. Tom could not believe that he could had been prouder of his son. Tom sister, Dorothy curiosity perked up about her nephew, that young boy had no fear to show his emotions. Nigel was going to need a strong female role model to balance her brother and who better than herself, the caring lady thought. At the repast, Rik Edmundson, one of Glinda's cousins, came up to Nigel and Tom. "That was a nice poem you gave Nigel. but you cannot be a mommy. Only little girls can grow up to be mommies." "While I want to be a mommy." "No you do not, you want to be a daddy for you are a little boy." Nigel's eyes started to form tears. He loved his dad but knew he wanted to be a mommy. Nigel also knew that he was better suited to be a mommy There was no reason why he should not be a mommy when he was a grownup. Tom was not going to let any more pain befall his son today. Plus he was going to keep his word he gave his wife. He will support his son with whom he was or wanted to be, even if it was being a mommy. Also this cousin was being too literal, Tom surmised his son wanted the role of the mother and Tom thought that was great. His son had a huge kind heart that wanted to nurture others "Rik, if my son wants to be a mommy when he grows up then he will be a mommy." Rik knew that his logic was not welcome there and left the Shaw men to themselves. Those tears in Nigel's eyes quickly dried up and he hugged his dad. The young boy was quickly learning what support truly was, being their for another as they reached for their true potential. Tom saw Glinda's last smile as their son said "Thank you for believing in me dad." Being True to Yourself leads to Strange Friendships Tom Shaw was as nervous and excited as a parent watching their child walk to the school bus stop on their own for the first time as he looked out the window. The view which he could not stop looking at was his teenage daughter, Faith, venturing out on her own for the first time. He wanted to be right next to her as she walked down the street, but knew she had to do this herself. A couple of months ago the doting father would had not even given a second thought of his child going to visit Lister Rimmer, her friend. Then again a couple of months ago, his daughter was his son, Nigel. Today was the first time that Faith was going to see a friend face to face. Tom so wanted to be there for Lister did not return any of Faith's phone calls after he found out about her. A premonition of today was going to work out for the best for his daughter came to him as Faith look right at him before turning the street to go out of his line of sight, Even without his glasses to help his shortsightedness from her being a couple of hundred of feet away Tom knew what that looked conveyed-"Thank you daddy for believing in me.".As he walked away from the window, Tom whispered "Glinda, we are raising a strong woman." He hoped that the winds would be like Odin's ravens and carry the message to wherever his wife's essence was. As soon as the young woman turned the corner faith knew she was truly on her own in public for the first time. She got a little nervous for this was unchartered territory and she did not think stopping by her friend's house would turn out good. Lister was being a smeghead and not returning her calls. Faith fought the urge of turning back and going to visit Lister another day by thinking . "I want to be treated like a big girl now, so I better act like one." She found thinking big girl a little amusing. She was 14 and should referred to herself as a young lady. She chalked up using big girl as a way to live a youth she never had the chance to. Another way she lived her youth vicariously was she used daddy when she thank her dad for supporting her. Any other time Faith would use dad, but when he supported her decision, she used daddy when thanking him. It was a way to honor her mother also. Her mother made Faith promise to always thank her father for believing in her when she was a boy. That little boy who promise she was keeping used daddy instead of dad most of the time. ******* Faith made it to the front yard of the Rimmer's residence and that half mile walk did wonders for her confidence. A couple of people waved and old man Peterson recognized her and stopped the young lady to chat. She knew the only reason the sweet man wanted to talk with her was to give her a pep talk. His flimsy attempt at making it look natural was bad, but the results of his compliment on her outfit worked like a charm. The reason it worked so well was it was honest. Old man Peterson was happy to see a young lady not dressed like a 'hussy;. Faith was wearing a simple cotton candy pink cotton blouse with a low neckline, which was not low enough to show any cleavage, black leggings and simple black flats with bows on them. After the little chat with old man Peterson, Faith felt really good about herself. She knew her mom would be proud that her elder mention how much he was impressed with her manners. It felt nice that he treated her just like any other girl. To most it would be expected to have a person in the neighborhood treat them just they would anyone else, but to Faith it was a major victory. She knew that good people would accept her on the merits of who she was, not on how her body did not match her gender. She knocked on the door and Mr Rimmer answered it. He quickly said "Faith, Lister is not home" The lady who was getting blown off by her friend knew that was not the truth, for she heard the beta version of Gran Turismo Sport in the background. "So I guess you started to play video games since the last time I was here." "Faith, make it easy on yourself. You know that Lister does not want to talk with you, so please just leave." "I gave him enough time to get over the change in who I am." "While he still does not want to talk with you." "While I would like to hear it for myself from him." Mr Rimmer said "Fine, suit yourself" as he got his son. Lister came to the door and said "Nigel, as long as you think you are Faith, I want nothing to do with you. You should had taken the hint of me not answering or returning your phone calls and left me alone. Get back to me when you are done with your fantasy." "Then goodbye Lister for this is not a fantasy, this is who I am." "Goodbye Nigel." Lister closed the door and was so hurt. His friend who betrayed him came over to get his approval. How could Lister approve when his friend never shared his true self with him until it became public? Lister believed Faith not sharing her secret with him was a because their friendship was not as close as the hurt boy thought it was. He wanted nothing to do with Faith. Being around her would be a reminder that their friendship was not as tight, that they were not really best friends.. Lister shared the crushes he had with his best friend, while Nigel never did. Lister never even thought the reason why was for Nigel did not have any crushes, his mind and emotions were working too much on the gender issue he had. Lister felt it was all give from him and all take from Faith and was not going to give anymore. Lister felt that Faith cheated him out of being there for her. That she should had confided in him. Lister felt that he was not given the chance to be there for his friend when she needed him. Mr Rimmer checked on his son after Faith left. When he told Faith that he was trying to make it easy on her, it was really for his son. Lister's old man knew his son took it hard not knowing about Faith. "Son, you can't keep on expecting Faith to reach out to you. You need to talk with her about how you feel. At least explain the reason why you do not want her around." "Dad, I am not sharing with her, for she never shared with me. I called her Nigel in hopes that she does not reach out to me again. Let me get back to my game." ******* Faith could not deny the pain she was in from her friend turning away from her ,yet she was handling it well. She knew that she was going to lose many friends in August when the school year began. How the sad girl saw it, they were never actually her friends. That was why Lister reaction really brought her down. She believed Lister was a real friend who would always be there for her. Even with losing the one friend she thought she could always depend on, Faith still believed being herself was worth it. Having people who were friends in title only was not worth her missing the chance of being a cheerleader. Faith stopped in the local convenience store for an diet iced tea and when she left the store, Alisa Denardo pulled into the store's parking lot. Alisa was the quintessential tomboy. Short pixie hair, wore generic t-shirts and jeans, and was in tech school to become a mechanic. Faith paid no heed to seeing that girl, for they never really talked. Faith could never understand Lisa, for she had everything which Faith wanted, yet did not cherish it. It went beyond not understanding Lisa, Faith was jealous of her. This was out of character for the girl who was learning to be a girl. The green eyed monster came from how Faith saw Lisa taking for granted what she wanted the most. Lisa was beautiful and could do the glamour look, but did not. She had the body to wear any outfit she wanted and choose to wear the most generic ones. Lisa not appreciating and using what nature gave her really irritated Faith. Unexpectedly the girl, who was thinking about what she would wear if she had Alisa's body, heard the lady she was envious of say "Hey there Faith." As the lady who was wounded by losing a friend kept on walking to get back to the safety of her home she did return a soft hello. She might be had been hurting and those two might had never greeted each other while passing each other while Faith was Nigel. The circumstance of the salutation did not change old man Peterson being right about Faith, she was polite. Faith thought their little interaction was done and then something else unexpected happened Lisa said "Faith are you alright?" Faith did not want to involve a stranger with her drama so she said "Yeah, thanks for asking." Alisa said "Faith, if you ever need someone to talk with about being different, I am here for you. You have it worse than me, but I am a little bit of an outsider for how I dress and my interests. Boys do not look or treat me like a girl. I am a girl, just like you are." Hearing what Lisa had to say put a smile on Faith's face. The older girl was offering her friendship to Faith. The would be friend also needed someone to talk with and felt that Faith could understand her. The smile on the girl's face grew even more for she remembered some of the wisdom her mom gave her via her dad, the best way to feel better about oneself when you are down was to be there for someone else. As Glinda's daughter turn around and walked towards Lisa, she knew she was going to make her mom proud. "Lisa, I lied. I am having a bad day. I will share what is going on with me only if you share why you are not feeling alright also." Alisa was going to bluster up for she did not want anyone to know she was having boy problems. Then she thought better, how could she expect Faith to share with her if she did not do the same. "Faith, you know Craig Naylor..... Those two talked about their issues and made only a little headway on solving them. Faith agreed to never close the door on the chance of being friends with Lister. She also was reminded to remember the good times those two shared when she thought of him. Alisa agreed to add some highlights to her hair, it was a small way to make Craig notice she was a girl. Faith's new friend also agreed to drop hints to Craig about wanting him to ask her out so he could make the first move. The biggest headway both of the girls made that day was finding a new friend which made them not feel as alone in the world. People who were cannot easily be seen, After the talk each one of them felt a little less like an outside and was a little more confident that the world will see them as the women they were, but on their terms not society's. The transgender girl and tomboy found out that being true to oneself led to strange friendships. The friendship were strange for they were not based on what most others people tend to. Instead of being drawn to people who have similar interest to be friends, people who are true to themselves are drawn to people who are trying to be the best person they could be.

Faith and Hope

My high school girlfriend was an absolute doll – about five-foot-four, pleasingly round, with short blonde hair, big brown eyes, a gorgeous butt and a firm pair of tits that I'd say were probably a size C. Faith was, like me, raised in a very religious home in our small Texas town and had vowed to "save herself for marriage". She even wore a "purity ring" on the third finger of her left hand. I respected her decision to wait even though sometimes, particularly when I was kissing her, I...

Faith

The Tuscan sun was quietly burning off the last wisps of grey morning mist from around the rising cypress spires in the near distance as two cars arrived at the villa, grinding the gravel under their wheels like strong waves breaking on shingle. My mother lifted the palms of her hands towards my face and allowed them to brush the outline of my veil, as though anything more than the lightest touch would cause it to disperse into fine white powder and drift away into eternity. She stood back a...

This "story" is meant to be a replacement for my tumblr, since they decided to fuck themselves right after I started a blog, and since all my content was erotica anyways, this seemed like a serviceable choice. As such, within you'll find a variety of short stories and flash fiction, rather than an overarching plot. Fair warning, I lean heavily towards male-dom and dub-con themes but I'd like to think I'm just as likely to go lighter as I am to go darker. This collection is meant to be just as...

A Run on the Beach/Credit Bestmush We had reached the point of allowing our only daughter to invite a friend with us when we travel. The Mars Company AnthologyChapter 2

Date and time: Unknown Location: Unknown A throbbing pain from somewhere behind his eyes jerked Devin awake. He sat up straight in his seat and looked around. The lights had gone out, and the console displays glared in the darkness. “Sijay? Shanna?” “I’ve just been kicked in the head,” Sijay mumbled. She pushed herself upright and tried to focus on her primary flight display. Lurid warning symbols covered nearly all the instruments. “Looks like my systems are down, too.” Shanna moaned and...

He grinned at his own banality as he checked his display yet again. The Mars Company AnthologyChapter 19

Xi Pegasi Survey Team One September 15, 2057 “Yamina?” Yamina stirred and opened her eyes. The surroundings were strange to her, and then she remembered. “Roger?” She sat up on the cot Faith had procured for her to sleep in Roger’s sick bay cubicle. “Honey, are you awake?” “I think so,” Roger croaked. “I’m so thirsty.” Yamina stood and walked the ten steps to the dispensary. Opening a cabinet, she selected a plastic cup and filled it with crushed ice and water from the built-in dispensing...

The Mars Company AnthologyChapter 20

Xi Pegasi Colony One October 12, 2057 Lenna walked along the path from the hospital to the nearby housing area. By unspoken consent, the colony had no roads in the central areas where most of the people lived and worked. Those industries that consumed bulk materials were located next to the river, or they had short roadways connecting them to it or to the ground port. Lenna had noted that a bicycle production facility would be opening here at Colony One in two weeks. That would greatly aid...

The Mars Company AnthologyChapter 21

Xi Pegasi Colony One December 31, 2057 Devin and Lenna stepped out of their cottage and walked along the path toward the admin building. The large moon was high in the sky, and the party was no doubt in full swing by now. Devin inhaled the crisp night air, laden with the scent of pine, and smiled blissfully. “I know the other colony sites are beautiful, but I like it right here the best.” “I know,” Lenna reached out and touched a low-hanging branch. “Maybe I should go visit the other sites....

The Mars Company AnthologyPrologue

Xi Pegasi System Wells Station 13/33/41 NR (New Reckoning) 2523 Hours “Gin!” Kayla Robbins tossed her cards down on the table in disgust. “I quit,” she snapped. “You’ve quit five times this week, Kayla.” “Oh, go ahead and gloat, George MacGregor!” The tall blonde glared at him. “You cheat, anyway, so this doesn’t count!” “I don’t cheat,” he laughed. “I just know how...” An alert tone beeped softly at Kayla’s workstation, and she swiveled her chair to face the display. The information...

The Mars Company AnthologyChapter 1

Xi Pegasi System System Command 13/34/41 NR 0715 Hours “ ... and we think that Captain Rogers will be able to bring the Evans in under her own power. She took at least two serious hits from a really nasty laser head missile. They are still making repairs, and the rest of First Squadron is on station at the wormhole.” The petite commander smiled grimly. “Whatever they were armed with, the Evans and the Valkyrie drove them off, and we are ready if they try again.” “Thank you, Edith. Good...

Xi Pegasi System Geneva – Earth Wormhole Terminus 14/02/41 NR 2115 Hours “Contact!” A blood red icon appeared on the plot, and the tall commander turned her chair to face her tactical officer. “Designate as Bandit One!” “Track and stand by weapons,” Taela Redding, captain of the Geneva Naval Service Frigate Raimella Davies, said quietly, and then she pressed her comms touchpad. “Commodore, we have a transit through the wormhole.” Commodore Legrere looked up from her computer monitor and...

Xi Pegasi System Devinstown, New Geneva Lenna MacGregor Medical Center 14/17/41 NR 1412 Hours Her cat was missing, and Luisa McDaniel ran through the greenhouse, bounding down the long pathway between the laser beam straight rows of corn. The soil here was black and loamy, not the gritty red dust that swirled in the bitter wind outside the huge, glassed dome that soared over her head. She landed lightly and slid to a stop as she spotted a black and white streak disappear into a row of corn...

Xi Pegasi System Devinstown, New Geneva Government House 14/25/41 NR 1904 Hours Rain pelted the ground car’s windows, reducing the visibility to a few meters. Luisa looked out her window, in awe at the sight. “This is wonderful; I’ve never actually seen a thunderstorm.” Aaron Peters sat next to her, while one of the presidential aides and a driver occupied the front seats of the vehicle. It was a fifteen minute ride from the medical center to the president’s official residence, and Luisa...

Xi Pegasi System System Command 14/37/41 NR 0615 Hours Aaron turned as the admittance chime sounded. “Come in.” He’d just finished packing, and he closed his locker as the door to his quarters opened. David Matthews stood in the doorway with an anxious look on his face. “I’m ready, David,” Aaron said teasingly, and then his expression blanked as his chief of staff’s expression registered. “What is it?” “We just received a message from the sats at the wormhole, Sir. The Unis have transited....

Delta Volantis System Flag Bridge, GNS Moshe Dyan 15/05/41 NR 1210 Hours “Transit detected! Designate as Bogey Four and start track!” The tactical officer’s fingers traced across his holographic displays, adding the blood red icon to the three on the flagship’s master plot. “Right on time, too.” Admiral Aaron Peters turned his command chair and smiled at his grim faced chief of staff. “Come now, David. We surmised that they had the reaction mass and certainly the will to chase us.” He...

10 Ceti System Flag Bridge, Gns Moshe Dyan 15/06/41 Nr 1545 Hours Admiral Aaron Peters sat in his command chair on his flag bridge and tried not to fret. Every remaining warship in the Genevan navy, except for the scouts he had detached as escorts for the fleeing transports, was arrayed at the Delta Volantis wormhole terminus. He gazed into the main holo display, and his eyes strayed to a pair of light codes crawling across the display toward the 28 Librae wormhole terminus. Luisa had left...

28 Librae System GNS Neil Armstrong 15/14/41 NR 2645 Hours A soft electronic sound intruded into her nightmare, and Luisa’s eyes opened. She raised herself on one elbow and pressed the audio only key on the comm panel. She hadn’t bothered to dress for bed, and it wouldn’t do for anyone to see her like that. “Yes?” “Commander, we’ve entered orbit, and a shuttle from Foster will arrive in twenty minutes.” “Thank you, Perla. I’ll be there.” Luisa cut the circuit and reached for her clothes....

28 Librae System Research Station, Zene 15/15/41 NR 1410 Hours The carved rock panel’s image hung in the holo display, magnified to three times its original size. Luisa stopped and peered at a series of lines and circles in the upper right corner of the panel. The image was overlaid with blue guide lines, enhancing the carvings. “This is the star map?” Adam nodded. “Yes. We are here,” his eyes unfocused as he concentrated on manipulating the holographic controls and a blinking red cursor...

The Mars Company AnthologyChapter 10

Beta Mensae System GNS John Young 01/21/42 NR 1730 Hours Admiral Aaron Peters, Geneva Naval Service, stood at the boat bay airlock and waited for the Lovell to dock. His official duty station was aboard his flagship, but he was still aboard the fleet repair ship Young until he was well enough to resume his duties. Not that there was anything resembling a navy for him to command, he thought morosely. Three frigates were left from the catastrophic battle in the 10 Ceti System, and only two of...

Beta Mensae System GNS Challenger Seven 01/26/42 NR 0845 Hours “Lovell has transited, Admiral.” Kayla Robbins reported from her tactical station. His flagship, the Challenger Seven, was the last frigate with a flag bridge, and she had been the most severely damaged of the survivors from the battle at 10 Ceti. Repair crews were still finishing their work even as Aaron moved himself and his staff aboard. If they were to have a chance against the next Terran incursion, he needed every available...

The Mars Company AnthologyChapter 12

10 Ceti System GNS Frank Lovell 01/28/42 NR 2419 Hours Luisa sat back in her chair and stretched with a weary sigh. She’d spent the evening poring over the starmap’s symbols, trying to make sense of the mysterious but beautiful glyphs. The work had been done by hand; the artist was left handed and apparently worked while seated, judging by the angle of the cuts and the random variations in the lines. She still insisted on thinking of the artist as a young human woman, to Adam’s chagrin. The...

Beta Mensae System GNS Challenger Seven 01/34/42 NR 2010 Hours “I don’t believe it,” Aaron grated. “Luisa would never do something like this.” He tossed the datapad on his desk and glowered at his investigative team. Kayla crossed her arms and sighed. “Admiral, for what it’s worth, I didn’t believe it, either.” She waved a hand at the datapad. “But, the evidence speaks for itself. The message from Lovell confirms it – Luisa is our agent.” The pair had gone over literally every scrap of...

The Mars Company AnthologyChapter 14

Theta Coronae Australis System GNS Neil Armstrong 02/06/42 NR 0930 Hours Gandalf’s limb filled the shuttle’s viewport, and Luisa leaned forward to gaze at the expanse of blue. Arwen wasn’t even the largest of the gas giant’s moons, and the Genevan outpost was located closer in-system. It had taken some effort to convince Armstrong’s captain to bring her here, but a conference with Adam, Perla and the transport group’s commander had done the trick. Unlike Zene, Arwen was completely airless,...
